Phineas looked around shiftily as he was perusing through the market. It had been a couple of days sent he had talked with Ferb and had that nice night with Isabella in the tree house. He didn't know whether or not that they might try to go all the way one day, so when he knew he had the chance, he snuck down to the market and was trying to purchase some condoms as discreetly as possible, even going as far as to wear a hoodie and sunglasses in the summer heat. He had made it to the part of the store that he was looking for, but the problem was that he had no way of knowing which certain sizes that he needed to look for. To him he already looked dumb enough to be standing in that section of the store; but now that he had been just staring at the shelf for the past five minutes trying to decide what he needed to get, he felt like a complete moron. He had looked up online on what he needed to get, but his own uncertainty was keeping from just getting what he figured was right.
Phineas sighed and just grabbed a few different boxes, figuring at least one of the boxes would have what he needed.
Making his way to the cashier, he quickly set the boxes on the counter.
"Did you find everything that you needed today?" The cashier asked, scanning the barcodes.
"Yes, yes I did." Phineas replied, hoping that he could get out as quickly as possible without people seeing him. Heck he hadn't even looked up at the cashier.
"Are you sure that mom is okay with you purchasing these?"
Phineas was confused and finally looked at the cashier. "Ferb! I didn't know that you were working today?"
Ferb smirked. "I always work on Thursdays." Ferb slid the last of the boxes into a paper bag, punching the commands into the register so that Phineas could pay. "What's with the disguise?" Phineas just stared at Ferb while he handed him the required cash. Ferb just chuckled. "I understand that you're a bit embarrassed about this. It's just a bit more fun this way."
"You know you're not helping." Phineas replied, taking the hoodie and glasses off his head.
"I know, I know. I just like to pick at you. But if I had to take a guess, you're not exactly just worried about finding the right condoms that is bugging you."
Phineas bit his lip in thought. "Yeah, I guess you could say that."
"And may I ask what is?"
"I think it's just I think that honestly I think that we've only been focusing on the physical parts of our relationship and I'm a little worried that's all our relationship will be if we keep going on."
Ferb tried his best but he couldn't help himself and busted out laughing. "Do you- Do you really think that's what's going to happen to you two? Haha, I've never heard something that funny in a long time."
"Well, I'm glad that you think it's funny." Phineas was getting aggravated, so he grabbed his bag and started to head to the door.
"Wait Phin, wait. Come back." Ferb called, getting his breathing back to normal. Phineas took a deep breath through his nose, but he did walk back to his brother's counter. "Listen, you two have a great relationship. Heck, it was great before you even began 'pursuing' the physical parts of the relationship. In my personal opinion it may have been a good thing that you have taken a lot of time to work on your relationship. No good relationship just happens; you have to work at it. I know that me and Addison have to."
"I know, but you know me, I've been worrying since day one."
Ferb went to continue his thought, but a customer came to the checkout line. Ferb motioned for Phineas to wait while he tended to the customer. It didn't take long for Ferb to work, and he was quickly talking to Phineas again.
"Now, I was going to say, have you talked to Isabella about your thoughts?"
"Uhh…."
"Right, should have guessed."
"What does that mean?" Phineas questioned. Ferb just stared flatly at him. "Right, not the point. She's still has a few more hours at work anyway."
"Well you can talk to her then."
(*)(*)
For Phineas, most of the afternoon was uneventful. He still was thinking about how he wanted to talk to Isabella, but the more he did the more that he thought, the more that he felt unhappy about it.
Eventually, a ring at the front door interrupted his thoughts. Phineas figured a guess might make his thoughts go away so he answered to door. Somewhat unfortunately for him, the source of his sour thoughts was standing at the door. "Hey Isabella."
"Hey Phineas." Isabella greeted, leaning in to kiss Phineas. "Have you had a good day?"
"Yeah, today was alright." Phineas motioned for Isabella to come inside. "Do you want anything to eat or drink?"
"No thanks I just need to use the restroom real quick."
Phineas nodded as Isabella made her way toward the restroom. Phineas sat back down in the living room to continue watching the show that he had on the television. A few minutes later Isabella silently made her way to where Phineas was sitting, sliding on top of his lap and kissing him deeply.
"I missed you today."
"I missed you too." Phineas replied, unable to really hide that his thoughts were in a different place.
"What's wrong Phineas? You're not your normal self."
Phineas sighed. "Remember when you first asked me what was bothering me?" Isabella nodded, remembering that day almost two months ago. "Well, I know it may sound dumb I just feel like all we've done for a while is just have a physical relationship. I'm just afraid that's all that we have become."
"Aww, Phineas. Isabella leaned in and hugged Phineas. "It's cute how much thought you're putting into all of this."
"Wait, you don't think that?"
"Of course not." Isabella slid off of Phineas' lap and down onto the couch next to him. "Believe me, I was very unsure about how we were going to go about all of this when we started, but I've learned that sometimes it's just better to let yourself try some things. It just might make things better."
Phineas looked at Isabella and smiled. His odd fears now seemed irrelevant. "I'm sorry I worry too much about things."
"No I think you worry just the right amount. You wouldn't be Phineas if you at least didn't worry a little." Isabella kissed Phineas on the nose, giggling at his cheeks turning a little red.
"Thank you Isabella. I'm really lucky I got you."
"Hey, don't sell yourself short. I think I'm rather lucky I got you."
"Well how about this, my lucky lady, I haven't taken you out to dinner in a long time. Why don't I treat you to a night at anyplace you like? Sound good to you?"
Isabella thought for a moment. "Sure, why not. Sounds like fun to me."
"Great." Phineas took a deep breath and sunk down into the couch.
Isabella followed leaning her head onto Phineas' shoulder. "So… what do you want to do till your parents come back?"
"Well, I was feeling like taking a nap. I'm a little sleepy."
"Aww, but that's no fun."
"Well, did you have something different in mind?" Phineas asked.
Isabella smirked and climbed back on top of Phineas' lap. Taking his face in her hands, she pressed her lips against his in a long kiss.
"Wow, I think I like your idea better." Phineas quipped before Isabella kissed him again.
The next couple of hours were filled with kissing and little sexual teasing between the two. Isabella knew that she had helped calm Phineas' nerves, and Phineas knew that he no longer had to worry about what his relationship with Isabella was. It seemed like the first time, he felt completely happy about where he and Isabella were in their relationship.
