A/N: Okay, wow, I can't believe how fast some of this is spitting out. Well, this one isn't a really long one, but I think it's kinda cute…next chapter, I'm going to attempt to do a love scene…

Chapter Forty-Two

Cam had been fast asleep before the end of his movie. Jason had carried the young boy upstairs and tucked him into his bed. Looking down at the sleeping child, he thinks about Christmas, which was only a couple of days away. With everything going on, they hadn't really had much time to plan, or to even decorate for the holiday. Jason had asked his son, oh how he enjoyed being able to think that about the boy, what he wanted for Christmas. Nothing had changed since the other timeline and Cam was still hoping for the Chuggin' Charlie that he could ride on. Jason was hiding it in his closet at his penthouse. He couldn't wait to see Cam's face when he saw it on Christmas morning.

Coming downstairs, he hears Elizabeth talking on the phone, slightly agitated. Realizing that she is trying to find the very thing he was just thinking about, he walks up behind her, takes the phone. Thanking the person on the other end of the line, he hangs up.

"Jason, what are you doing? I'm trying to find the one thing that Cam has asked for, for Christmas!" she exclaims.

Smiling, he leans down and kisses her, "It's already taken care of."

Looking at him with questions in her eyes, "How do you even know what I'm looking for?"

"Do you think I could spend all this time with Cam and not know what he wants for Christmas this year?"

"You are so wonderful, you know that?"

"Sweetie, you've had a lot on your mind, with good reason. I figured that you hadn't had time to look for it yet, so I asked Spinelli to help. He found one, and I went and got it. It's next door, I'll bring it over Christmas Eve so you can put it under the tree for him to have on Christmas morning."

"I can't wait to see the expression on his face when he sees it. He's going to love it. You will be here, won't you?"

"Only if you want me to be."

"Of course I do. And so does Cameron, he's asked me a couple of times, he really loves you, Jason."

"I love him, too. I would love to be here to see him opening his presents. I was going to ask, are you going over to Audrey's house that day?"

"She's called to tell me that she has presents for Cameron and would like to see him open his gifts. I just don't know if I want to go over there and have her openly ridicule me for my choices, she's said she won't but I'm not sure that I can trust her. She's been very open with her disdain at work, and she's made several snide comments, but I don't want to deny Cam, if she can keep her comments to herself for a couple of hours. What about you, are you planning on visiting the Quartermaine's, or Emily?"

"Emily, yes. The Quartermaine's, well, I was thinking that maybe we could go over there and tell Alan and Monica about the baby. I don't want them to hear this from the hospital grapevine."

"Well, I have to go see Nicholas and Emily, take them their presents. And if you're ready to tell Alan and Monica, then that's what we'll do. Do you think they will mind if we take Cam with us, or should we leave him with Em?"

"I think they would love to have him come over."

Sitting down and pulling her into his arms, she rested her head on his chest and sighed, contentedly. Snuggling into him, she looked up and captured his eyes with hers. "I love you."

Smiling, he kissed her sweetly, "I love you."

Content to just sit quietly for a few minutes, neither needing to fill the silence with meaningless chatter, it was a refreshing change to the chatter filled nothingness he had felt with her. Chuckling in his head, he was amused to realize that he had started to pick up Elizabeth's habit of calling Sam she or her. Breaking the silence, he said, "I'm surprised that, even with everything going on, that you still haven't decorated for Christmas. You are quite the Christmas fanatic."

"I was actually thinking that I needed to get a tree for us. Christmas just isn't Christmas without a tree."

"So, are you planning on getting one of those pathetic little trees like you got that year I spent with you?"

"Hey! That tree wasn't pathetic," she defended. "It just needed someone to bring it home and love it!"

"Okay, okay, I admit, it did look pretty good after you finished decorating it. It's the only tree that I've ever liked decorated like that. I still prefer the trees outside, the way they are supposed to be, covered in snow and pine cones."

"Why am I not surprised?"

Shrugging his shoulders, he looks down at her, "Maybe because you know me so well."

Smiling up at him, "Well, I like to think I know you pretty well."

Running his hand up her back and behind her neck, he cups the back of her head. Leaning down, he kisses her lightly, "As well as I think I know you. We share a connection, Lizabeth. No matter what's happened between us, good or bad, we always have. Now," he says, rubbing his free hand over their child, "we have a physical manifestation of that connection, our bond."

Looking into his eyes, she can see the love and bond that he spoke of. Reaching out, she strokes his cheek. Sighing lightly, he leans into her hand, and then kisses her palm. Closing the distance between them, he brushes his lips against hers. Running his tongue across her bottom lip, he nibbles, taking tiny bites of her. Meaning to keep things light, he kisses her a handful of times, not giving in to the passion he's keeping in check.

Realizing his intent, Elizabeth isn't content to keep things light. She missed that physical connection that they shared in August and she wanted to revel in it again. Leaning up a bit, she took the initiative and plunged in, kissing him passionately. Several minutes later, their breathing ragged from the lack of oxygen, Jason asks, "Are you sure?"

"Completely."

Standing up, he picks her up and carefully makes his way up the stairs and to their bedroom. He closes the bedroom door behind him and leans against it, still cradling her in his arms. He doesn't want to let her go….ever. With a passion he's only ever felt when he's with this woman, this one woman, he pours his heart and soul into his kiss. Overwhelmed at first by the love she feels for this beautiful man, she kisses him back with all of the love in her heart.
