Hey guys, still there... No?... Okay... *Bursts into tears*
But I am glad I have finally, sorta got my muse for this story back so I can update it for you and I would like to give a big thank you for all of those who are still interested in this story! Thank you all so much!
Anyway, I am trying to help a friend start up a great forum idea, it's a place where, if you don't want to continue a story anymore you can put it up for adoption for another writer to pick it up! I think this is a great idea and I would very much appreciate it if you guys would help out here, even though I don't deserve your help after all this time of waiting but this affects you all, so if you know someone who doesn't want to continue a story or you don't want to continue a story you now have a place where you can put it up for adoption! Thank you all!
Same warnings as usual...
and I still don't own Criminal Minds, otherwise there would be a hell of a lot of crossovers between shows... hehe!
Thanks and enjoy the read, I made it extra long for the wait!
Reid sat outside for god knows how long, thoughts still consuming as he thought about what was going to happen. He was angry, that was sure. He was angry at Ethan, at Lucas, all of them. Ethan the most. He knew, Ethan knew all along what would happen if Reid killed Sean that he would become an alpha and he just let it happen. Reid clenched his fists in rage as his breathing started to pick up but what amazed him, was he didn't being to spiral out of control, his breathing began to slow down and he felt his pulse steady to a nice pace.
"Being an alpha has its perks," Delilah walked over to Reid, who was sitting on the steps of the porch, gazing out on the vast forest. Reid thought it would be better to live a little bit out from a the city, as not to attract unwanted attention. She sat down beside him.
"He knew, Ethan knew what would happen, did you all know?" Reid demanded, he could feel the rage simmer beneath his skin and yet he could still contain it.
"Spencer, you need to know that if a pack doesn't have an alpha then we become vulnerable and that makes it easier for hunters and other things to get us," Reid's head snapped up at Delilah, his eyes widen at her.
"Hunters? Hunters! How the hell... how the hell am I supposed to protect you guys if I don't even know what to protect you from! I only just turned, I only just became a werewolf, I am not supposed to be an alpha, I wasn't supposed to anything like this!" Reid yelled his lungs hoarse, another perk about living out here.
"You wouldn't have that power if you weren't supposed to become this, to become an alpha, Spencer, are meant for this," Delilah tried but she could see that Reid wasn't going to listen to her.
"Everyone is trying to say that what I have is a gift but it got Damian in hospital and who knows who's next?!" Spencer shook his head, "I need to think, I need to just…" Reid didn't even finish his sentence before he started walking into the forest, Delilah sighed and got up. Mason was standing at the doorway and went to go after Reid but Delilah stopped him.
"Leave him, he needs this," Delilah lead Mason back inside, who still had the look of wanting to go after Reid, "Come on, let's go put the furniture in place."
The team had all decided to get together, Strauss, reluctantly but understandably agreed to give them all some time off after all that had happened. Reid had told Hotch that he had needed some time alone and Hotch had agreed but then had to bring up the subject that JJ, Garcia and Rossi still didn't know about him but that was when Reid had abruptly ended the conversation, saying he would see them all some other time.
Under Rossi demand, they went to an Italian restaurant only to then listen to Rossi curse that this food wasn't truly Italian food. They all were really enjoying themselves and it wasn't fake, they had all talked to Reid and everything finally seemed over, at least to JJ, Rossi and Garcia. Morgan, Emily and Hotch still feared for Reid, Emily and Hotch more than Morgan at the moment. They hadn't told Morgan truly what had happened at the warehouse; Morgan knew that Reid had killed Sean but Hotch and Emily truly saw what Reid had done. They could see the way Reid had so easily killed the man or werewolf to be more precise and how walked away and acted as though it was nothing more than a simple task, a chore that he did with pure ease. It scared them. Scared them more then they showed each other, then they let on but why shouldn't they be happy. Reid was home.
Garcia was still trying to get in contact with Delilah's and the triplet's parents, no such luck in getting in contact though they all suspected that Reid and his 'pack' were truly reluctant about even contacting their parents, Reid had a pure overprotective behaviour going on and well the four were just scared all together, as if confronting their parents was the worst thing imaginable. But, it was never unseen of in this line of work. Traumatized children can fear coming home, confronting their parents can be a challenge, fear and being ashamed can weigh in but there was also the fact that they could be angry, angry at their parents for not being able to protect them. It was always an uneasy and hard task for everyone involved. But then again, they weren't kids anymore and by right, their parents didn't have any rights over them anymore and right now, it looked like they don't really want to go back to their parents.
"We should do this more often," JJ said, forking down another mouthful of their main. They all nodded in agreement and truly none of them could disagree to that. They all were so happy right now, so why didn't they seem to do it more often, oh yeah all the cases they worked on didn't really give them much time to go out much. But it was good that they did it tonight, even though Reid wasn't there, it was really something the team needed at the moment, especially after everything that has happened not only to Reid but the whole team. The strain and stress was getting to all of them and this was the perfect way to remind them of the better side of life and right now for them life was getting pretty good for all of them at least for Rossi, Garcia and JJ for the others, they still had that voice inside of their head worrying about Reid, telling them 'What if Reid's not alright?", "What if is going to get hurt?", just some of the many worrying thoughts streaming through their minds.
"I most defiantly agree to that," Garcia raised her glass to that, followed by the rest of the team. Each with their wide smiles, the eating had ended but the night was far from over and laughter was filled in its place. Talking and joking was the main form of interaction from there on, all mindless to what had happened, all finally enjoying the night without looming thoughts haunting them. And it was truly going really well, until an accidental slip of the tongue left the agents to go dead quite with shock and two of those agents glared at the one agent responsible for that slip of the tongue. It all started with a simple topic as well.
"So, what's the deal with Reid and Damian because I just never really got that?" JJ asked, not in the hard way she had once used before but in a friendlier tune, she now understood Damian and Reid and she couldn't put Damian down anymore, he had basically saved Reid's life at the risk of his own and that made him alright in her books, no matter what he was accused of before, she now had a new renowned respect for him.
"Yeah, I never expected them to be the best of friends," Rossi piped up, not complaining though; the man had given them the clue to find and save Reid's life.
"Maybe they can relate to each other, neither are really the social type," Emily said, which was true, Damian didn't seem the man to go out every night and make contact with people and Reid was… well… just Reid, perfect pair, if not for the quirks of Damian's and Reid's habit of rambling when introduced to a topic of discussion.
"Yeah could also be the fact that Damian saved Reid's life from the Alph-…" Morgan stopped himself right there, not even realizing at first what he was saying until it dawned on him that JJ, Garcia nor Rossi actually knew about Reid and Reid happened to have a bunch of werewolves living with him at the moment. Hotch and Emily gave him a deadly glare as JJ, Garcia and Rossi gave Morgan a curious. The table fell victim to the awkward silence and tension, as all eyes laid upon Morgan, two pairs of them were not the happiest.
"Derek," Gacria started, "Were you about to say alpha?"
Morgan immediately shook his head, "No, I was going to say… um that Damian had saved Reid from the… um…" Morgan becomes lost for words, which all in all shocked all of them.
Hotch there took over for Morgan seeing how lost on words the agent was but instead of covering it up Hotch simply said, "How about we discuss this somewhere else," Hotch asked for the check and the team left the restaurant without uttering a word to each other.
The team had all gathered at Hotch's place, Jessica had taken Jack for a while deciding that Hotch may need some time with his team after all that had happened. The three still in the dark agents were giving Morgan looks of curiosity as they all sat down in the living room.
"So do you want to tell us what this all about?" Rossi started, seeing that no one in the room was really keen on saying anything and Rossi was really wanting to avoid another round of awkward silence.
"Hotch, don't you think that we should wait until Reid tells them," Emily stated, not really liking the fact that they were the ones telling the rest of the team without Reid's permission, it didn't feel right to her.
"I don't think Reid will be the one to tell them, the only real reason he told us was because we happened to find out on our own and we've learnt from past experience that keeping secrets within the team doesn't end well for any of us," Hotch explained, reminding them all of what had happened with Emily and her supposed 'death', that was hard for them all and Reid should understand more than anyone about why they had to all be on the same page.
"But I think we should call him first, see if he wants to be here when we tell them and besides they might not believe," Morgan suggested to Hotch, who nodded and reached into his pocket and dialled Reid's number.
After a couple of rings, someone answered, though it wasn't Reid, "Hello?" A feminine voice answered, one that seemed familiar to Hotch.
"Who's this?" Hotch asked, trying not to get too worried, seeing as he now knew that Reid well capable of handling himself but after everything Reid was still the same person to him, no matter what and that still meant that it was Hotch's duty to take care of him, just like any other member of the team.
"Delilah, Hotch right? Well if you wanted Reid, he isn't here at the moment, he went out… for a little while but he'll be back soon… hopefully, did you want something?" Delilah asked, catching on that Hotch seemed a little bit worried, though she couldn't blame him.
"We were going to tell the rest of the team about Reid and were calling Reid seeing if it was alright with him," Hotch explained to her, thinking that she was going to rebel against the idea.
"Go ahead, Reid isn't here and well it's going happen sometime, the sooner you do it the sooner he can bitch and then get over it," With that Delilah hung up, leaving Hotch with a bit of shock before he put his phone back in his pocket.
"Is Reid coming?" Emily asked Hotch.
"No, he's busy but we'll tell them," Hotch cleared for them.
"Okay guys, I love you and all but if I… we are left in the dark for another second, I swear to whatever heavenly god is listening I will make your life a living hell and don't think I won't," Garcia threaten them and the team knew better than to go against Garcia threats.
"Okay Baby Girl, don't worry, I have known ever since the case in Ohio about Reid and I knew about Damian as well, I knew he wasn't the killer but I knew what was," Morgan began to explain to them before JJ interrupted.
"Did you just say 'what' instead of 'who'?" JJ raised her eyebrow at Morgan, not really liking how the pit of her stomach was feeling hollow as the daunting truth was growing near.
"Yeah, what I was about to say in the restaurant was 'alpha', Reid was attack by an alpha," Morgan stared at the blank faces, all seemed hollow as they stared back at Morgan, each taking deep breaths. None of them seemed sure of what to make of the conversation they were finding themselves in at the moment.
"What do you mean by alpha?" Rossi asked, although all of them seemed to know what an alpha was but they all wanted clarification to know that their minds weren't playing tricks or overreacting with a wild and unbelievable idea to them.
"We mean werewolf alpha," Emily explained to them, not really surprised by the disbelieving looks that she got that suggested that she was the insane one and when she thought about it sometimes she did ask herself that, was she insane to believe in this know. There was proof but was she now living in an insane world, where her old life was normal and know she had reached a place where she was doubting whether half of the criminals she had helped put away over the many years in this line of work were even human. Some of the things that she had seen the unsubs do to another human were unhuman and now was she going use the excuse that they weren't human every time she started to doubt humanity. Was that going to be her go to response when she finds something she can't believe?
JJ started giving off nervous laughter before shaking her head, "Come on guys, how do you expect us to believe that when Spence, himself, doesn't believe in this stuff," She had a point too, if Reid was being told this, if he was on the receiving end of this conversation, if he wasn't a werewolf then there was no way he would ever believe what they were telling them without hard proof.
"I know this is hard to believe and trust me, Prentiss and I didn't believe this before Reid actually showed us what he could now do," Hotch tried to make the situation relatable for them, it might be easier for them to come to terms with but that was also going along with they might actually hard solid proof before they can actually believe them.
"What Reid could do?" Garcia asked, Morgan looked at her she didn't look well, normally her positive attitude would be influencing in on the conversation but Morgan thought for the first time that Garcia was unsure about this, about how she supposed to think about this.
"Yeah, Reid was bitten by the alpha and gained an ability and well become a werewolf," Hotch looked at each one of the three, JJ had a complete unbelieving look upon her face, Garcia looked scared at what she was hearing and honestly Hotch could relate to that, to the both of them but Rossi had a stoic look on his face. Hotch didn't know what to make of Rossi's look, should he be happy that Rossi looked like he was handling it a bit better than the others or was it concerning that he wasn't reacting how most people would react if they were in his position. Hotch grew concerned and unsure of that.
JJ shook her head even more, "I'm sorry guys but I can't, we only just really got Spence back and you are saying these things that Spence wouldn't believe himself," JJ gathered her things and walked out of the room and out of the house. Emily sighed, it would have been better if Reid was here, at least he could show them first hand that it was the truth.
"It's true, isn't it?" Garcia whispered, to none of them in particular.
"Yeah, Baby Girl, do you want to go home?" Morgan offered, she nodded numbly to him and went over to her and got her up.
"Yeah, I think I'll get going as well," Emily joined in, leaving with Morgan and Garcia. That left Hotch and Rossi in there alone.
"David, you've been quiet, what do you think about this?" Hotch inquired, David looked up to Hotch.
"Honestly Aaron, if it had been anyone else who had told me what you just told me I would have dismissed it without a second thought but I have known you for a long time, Aaron and I have learnt to trust in what you say, plus it would explain a lot of miracles that have been happening around Reid," Rossi said in a calm and steady voice, as if he had already come to terms with this. Rossi knew something else was happening with Reid, though he would have never thought it would be this but if Aaron was being serious about this then he had no doubt in his mind about it.
"The miracle of him coming out of the hospital, twice fully healed," Hotch smiled at David, who nodded at Aaron in agreement and cracked a smile too.
"Yes, that was quite a miracle, but how is Reid dealing with this anyway? This must be affecting him a lot, it does go against everything he believed possible," Rossi asked Hotch, despite how hard it was for them to come to terms with this, Rossi couldn't imagine this happening to him, his life was tough enough already.
"I don't know, I'm worried about him David, you didn't see him in that warehouse, he didn't seem to hesitated killing Sean and afterwards he wasn't even phased by it," Hotch told Rossi, expressing his concerns about Reid. Reid may be the same person on the outside and inside to everyone else but when you saw what you saw in that warehouse you become aware of how much Reid had changed and it scared Hotch.
"Aaron, Reid was with that man for a period of time and you know that it doesn't matter whether it's years or hours ad experience like that can change a person in many ways," Rossi reasoned to Hotch, defending Reid's action, knowing that experiences like those can make people do things no rational person would ever think about doing.
"But Reid isn't a normal person anymore, everything we know Rossi, all our profiling, it doesn't prepare us for this, it can't prepare us for this," Hotch replied, leaving that dark thought lingering between them. How could they predict anything now? How could they use their profiling without the thought that something abnormal was at play, something that they were never trained for. It worried them more than anything and it scared them about what might happen to Reid.
Reid didn't know how far he had walked but honestly that was the last thought on his mind. He wasn't prepared for any of this, he wondered if all new alphas felt like this. Properly not, they properly knew about everything about all the threats. Reid on the other hand knew nothing about anything to do with this world. For the first time in his life, Reid felt like he was stupid, that he was lost on knowledge and that hurt him. He was always the smart one, the one to turn to when another person wanted to know something, not the other way around. It was weird now that he thought about; he was the one in need, not wanting, of knowledge in an area he was in. It sort of freaked him out.
Reid looked around, it was a very lush area around here, and he praised himself for that. He knew he was calming down and properly should head back, he felt an overwhelming wave of worry flood him, though he knew it wasn't his worry, it was Mason's. He felt touched by it but he was interested about why he was feeling what Mason was felling. He reasoned that it was properly being the alpha, after all he was their alpha and it was almost like they were family now. He felt like he would protect them as if they were his own blood and every minute they were still with him, he felt that bond growing. It was a peculiar feeling but not one he wanted gone, he, in fact, liked it.
"Dr. Spencer Reid, right?" Reid looked up, to see a man dressed quite modishly standing by a tree, with a calm and almost smooth smile, his eyes however were what caught Reid's attention, how hypnotic they seemed, Reid had to tear his gaze forcefully away. What made Reid uneasy about the situation was the fact that this man had managed to get this close to him without alerting him.
Reid eyed the man carefully as he slowly walked towards him, "Who are you?"
"I am offended, really, I thought my brother would have more manners and would have introduced me but then of course I have more manners than him," Reid stared at the man for a period of time, everything about this man was screaming familiarity, the voice, the familiar figure, the look. Reid's eyes widen at him, "Ah, you've figured it out, have you?"
"He doesn't have… you couldn't be," Reid fumbled, everything he had been told suggested to go against what was forming in his head but the evidence was screaming otherwise.
"I don't think I've introduced myself, Drake Davis, Damian's twin brother," His smile increased as Reid's shocked expression had blown to its full proportion.
