September 22 CLE
Finally, I have located my journal after several months since it went missing the day after the day of this Valentine. In the months since, the League was changed in many ways. New champions joined the ever-growing roster, items were changed to preserve some sort of "balance" the head summoners keep going on about. Besides the introduction of Lissandra the Ice Witch and re-introduction of Sejuani and Trundle, the Darkin Blade Aatrox and Lucian the Purifier were accepted as full members. Thresh was none too pleased that he was now being followed day and night by the relic weapon-wielding man. Nobody was surprised by how well Lucian got along with Vayne. In fact, Kayle was heard muttering something about a "match made in heaven."
A recent fiasco demanded a retooling of the jungle as Nunu had suddenly become the most powerful bushmonster in the League because of his ability to steal objectives. The situation was on its way to being fixed by the summoners until two particularly popular junglers teamed up to the Yeti rider a harsh lesson and initiated another wave of champion-regulating decrees. An excerpt from the official report sent to the head summoner's desk:
May 9 CLE
Summary: The champion Nunu was brutally executed during a match in Summoner's Rift. He was planning to steal the enemy team's blue buff (see attached jungle changes suggestion). However, when he flashed in to steal the Golem, he was set upon by an illegal combination of champions. The official jungler for the enemy team was Jarvan IV, however this match Blue team had somehow managed to smuggle Hecarim onto the field which the crown prince used as his steed for the duration of the match. As Hecarim was on the field illegally, he was not inhibited by the regulations of the Fields of Justice. Thus, the full fury of the Shadow of War was unleashed upon their hapless foes. The Purple team was absolutely decimated by the powerful (and illegal) combination and their Nexus was destroyed in ten standard minutes after the beginning of the game. Nunu is currently in the medical ward recuperating psychologically after the match from the effects of Hecarim's real Spirit of Dread.
Personally, I found that quite amusing and I'm sure many other junglers shared my sentiments. All were eager to see Nunu punished for his impudence. After that incident, the jungle was changed around to make Nunu's buff steals much less effective to the relief of everyone (except Nunu of course). Hecarim and Jarvan were the heroes of the hour (more like week) upon the completion of match and more goodwill was evident in the halls of the Institute than had been seen for a good while. I find it interesting how living creatures are at each others' throats until a greater threat appears.
The flavor of the month in champion gossip was the re-emerging friendship of Zed and Shen. Despite their past, the two had recently re-established a working relationship. If the rumors are to be believed, Zed had defended a hospitalized Akali (Singed accidentally gave her poison instead of the Graggy Ice she requested. Luckily, he was able to force-feed her the antidote in time.) from an assassination attempt by turning the assailant into pink mist with his blades, much to the surprise of all present. Ever since then, the two could frequently be seen training together, even engaging in friendly banter. "Just like the good old days," the Fist of Shadow had commented when asked for her opinion on the situation. After a bit of digging through absolutely classified records that I may or not have paid Evelynn to retrieve, it was revealed that Akali, Shen, and Zed were once the most successful assassination team in all of Runeterra with a 100% success rate.
