I do not own Harry Potter…only the plot.
(A/N: Sorry that I haven't updated in a while. I have been busy with my classes. However, seeing as the Internet is down at the moment I can't do anything with my classes so I will write and then post it as soon as the Internet is back up! I hope you all enjoy the chapter!)
Harry made sure that Hermione got back to Marie and Jeff's house safely. He bid her farewell and told her that he would see her when she got back to England.
Marie left Hermione alone for a couple hours and then went to check on her. She knocked on the bedroom door. "Hermione? Hermione, let me in and we can talk."
She heard muttering and then the door was unlocked. She went into the room and closed the door behind her. She saw Hermione curled up on the bed holding a pillow to her chest. Her eyes were red and swollen from crying. Marie sat down on the bed and put a comforting hand on Hermione's arm.
"What happened, dear?"
"He hates me. He told me I should've told him about Isabella the moment I found out I was pregnant. He told me I broke his trust in me." Hermione sat up behind Marie and leaned onto Marie's back. "I was twenty. I was young. I felt like I was too young to be a mother! I did the only thing I thought was right! I put her up for adoption. At least I didn't abort her!" Hermione shouted as she fell back onto the bed.
Marie sat there for a minute contemplating what to say. "He'll come around. I'm sure he will. But right now, I think we need to tell Isabella the truth. I think she has figured out that we're not her real parents. She's a bright child for her age." She saw Hermione smile a little at the last sentence. "So, come on. Let's go introduce your daughter to you, her mother, Hermione."
**Meanwhile in England**
As soon as Draco had Apparated back to England, he headed straight for the one place he knew he would be able to get as drunk as he wanted and he wouldn't have his supply cut off until he passed out. Blaise's.
He Flooed over to Blaise's study. As he came out of the fireplace, he saw his friend looking at him from behind his desk.
"What brings the great Draco Malfoy to see me? You haven't been around in ages, brother!" Blaise said as he went to greet Draco but was pushed out of the way as Draco went straight for the liquor cabinet. "Okay, apparently, you are in need of some alcohol. Does Granger not let you drink?"
Draco was in the cabinet and had grabbed the Firewhiskey when Blaise said that. He stood up and slammed the door shut. "No. She allows me to drink. But, at this point in time, she is the cause of my drinking!" He shouted as he fell down into an empty chair by the window.
Blaise made his way over to him and sat down in the opposite him. "Okay. Tell me. How has Granger driven you to come to me so that you will drink until you pass out?"
"She kept a secret from me."
"Okay…what kind of secret?"
"A huge secret."
"How huge?"
"Monumental."
"…okay…and?"
"I have a child."
"…"
"Blaise?"
"…"
"Blaise, say something."
"Did you just say you had a child?!" Blaise said as he finally took in what Draco had said.
Draco nodded. He looked down at the bottle and thought about it but then just started drinking straight from the bottle. "Yes, Blaise, I have a child. That is the huge secret that Hermione kept from me."
Blaise looked at him. "You lost some trust in her but you still love her. You still want her to be yours."
Draco drank again from the bottle. "That's not the point right now, Zabini. The point is she kept that we had a child together a secret for years! She had put the girl up for adoption. She kept in contact with the people that adopted Isabella and they told Hermione this morning that she had shown magical ability."
Blaise's eyes got big and round. "The parents are magical, also?"
Draco shook his head. "No. They're Muggles. But they had a daughter who was magical. Unfortunately, she was killed in a car accident a few years ago the day after she graduated from her Wizarding school in the States." He said as he took the last drink out of the bottle.
Blaise nodded slowly. "Okay, I understand. So, what are you going to do?"
Draco shrugged. "I don't know what I'm going to do, Blaise."
**Back in Maine**
The little blonde haired girl sat in front of Marie, Jeff, and Hermione. She looked at each of them in turn. "Okay, so let me see…" She started off slowly. She pointed at Marie and Jeff. "You two are my adoptive parents. But you raised me as your own?" They nodded and then she looked at Hermione and pointed at her. "And you are my real mommy?" Hermione nodded. "And the blonde haired man from earlier is my real daddy?" All of them nodded.
Isabella sat there for a minute; processing everything that had just been told to her. "Does this mean I can move to England with you?" She asked as she looked at Hermione wide-eyed.
Hermione looked taken aback by the question. She hadn't expected her to seem to take it so well. "Um, yes, you will come back to England with me. But there is paperwork that needs to be done first before you can."
"Actually, the paperwork is almost done. There is a court hearing in a couple days and then Isabella will officially be yours." Marie said.
The little girl smiled and looked back at Hermione. "Isn't that good, Mommy?"
Hermione instantly got tears in her eyes when Isabella called her that. "Yes, Isabella, it is wonderful. But you know Marie and Jeff will pretty much be your Aunt and Uncle now. We're going to make sure that we stay in touch."
"That sounds grand. Now, I have a question."
"What is it?"
"Why isn't Daddy here?"
