A/N: I know, Yay! a new chapter. I figured we should see how Lucius and Narcissa came to change their minds. I am going back to Draco and Hermione and the Potters for the next chapter. Remember, I don't own the characters only the actions. I am trying to update on both stories in a timely fashion now. I even have another in the editing room that i call my hard drive. Until next time- Krys

Chapter: 12

When the young couple leaves for the Potter home, the elder Malfoys look at each other. Cissa moves into Lucius' arms.

"Imagine Luc, two grandbabies right off. I can't wait for them to come. Those children will not be in want for anything." She vehemently tells him. "I am glad that horrid man is gone. To think what we might have missed out on."

Lucius nods silently holding his wife. "I agree my dear. If Potter had not defeated him, our family would have been threatened."

"Threatened, Lucius! Our family would not have survived. Riddle would have killed for lying about Harry, Draco would have been for switching sides and you, for raising him. Of course that would be after making you witness our deaths or even making you kill us yourself. That doesn't even cover what would have happened to our poor Hermione." Narcissa cries out, disgusted at her husband's mild comment.

What Lucius doesn't know is that if he had not seen the light, Narcissa was about to leave him and beg for a place for her and her son under Harry's leadership. She even had the letter to the young Lord Black written out.

The night before the final battle, Luc came into their bedroom and asked to talk to her.

"Cissa my love, we need to get away from this. It's bringing our name down. Tom is getting more deranged. He wants us to hand over everything in our vaults to him and he just demanded that you visit him in two nights time to "finally" fullfill your "duty" to our leader."

Narcissa looks up at him from her book; it was good and she didn't want to lose her focus for another attempt to make her prove her loyalty to the Dark Lord. Lucius and Bella both have done this in the past.

"So he demanded our assets? Hmm. Give it to him. Sadly, the last of our Malfoy assets is this house, unless you get to work more often to fill your coffers. All the rest are from my family. It will require permission from the current Lord Black to transfer even a knut. Bella is in the same boat. Lucius are you even aware who the current Lord Black is?" Cissa reasons out in a tired voice.

"No my dove. Who is it?" He asks, silently freaking out at her calm demeanor and dead emotionless voice. Why has he not noticed how much this whole thing has destroyed her?

"The current Lord Black is Harrold James Potter, otherwise known to you as "that sniveling brat". He has complete say over all of our finances. With his disappearance, the Black accounts have been frozen. Moneywise, we can't give the Lord any more than we have. As for the other demand, I obviously have no other choice.

Before this night, I have never questioned your love and devotion to me or our marriage. I guess it's only a matter of time. He has taken everything else from me. Tell him that I will need the next two nights to mentally prepare and I'll be there." Narcissa looks back down to her book. It really was good. Too bad that she will be tortured for reading it. The novel was written by a muggle author by the name of Jane Austen. It was called "Persuasion" and Narcissa loved it. She looks up again when she hears Lucius' gasp.

"You think that I would offer you up to him?" He asks, offended that it even crossed her mind. He was a full-blooded veela and the most important thing to a veela is their mate. Were things really that bad between them?

"You offered up your heir and only child. My child! Despite everything I said, did, and how much I begged you not to. You did it anyway. Why would I think that I would be any more important to you? The man I married put me and my slightest whims first. He was a loving, passionate man and bowed down to NO ONE. Forgive me, but if my son, the light of my life for the last seventeen years can be put on the chopping block, then why should I expect that I would not be too. We are just assets to you to parade around."

With each one of Narcissa's sentences, Lucius sinks lower. He had let his mate feel like a commodity. His dear son lost all respect for him that disastrous day in the parlor. Now he was even more determined to get his family away from Tom.

"Cissa, I plan to walk away from Tom. We are going to pretend that we are still completely behind him, but we are going to distance ourselves from that idiot." Lucius walks up to the bed. "I have no excuses for what Draco went through other than I am a bastard. He cannot have you in any fashion. I am sorry my dear. I will spend the rest of my life making this up to the both of you." He breaks down crying on her lap. ***

Since that night, Lucius had been true to his word. He went back to work and rebuilt his own empire. Following Draco's advice from observing Katie and Harry, Lucius branched out into electronics for the magical world. Now Malfoy is the go to brand for all your electronic needs, much like the muggle world's Sony and Apple rolled into one. Through Draco's muggleborn connections, they found out that almost everyone owns a computer, cellphone, television.

On the home front, he started to reconnect with his wife and son. Over the last year, it's been an eye-opening experience to see that he could very easily be pushed aside by them. Narcissa had basically raised Draco aside from his nasty bigoted lessons. His son dotes on his mother and is very protective of her. Lucius has since realized that his mate, being a former Ravenclaw, is immensely more intelligent than he is. Draco may have inherited his shrewdness, but he also received his mother's brain. Before leaving to help his Hermione run her inn, Draco pulled Malfoy Inc. out of the water closet. Aside from his advice about the new area to explore, he also took over the handling of their financial holdings. He invested in low risk, high yield stocks, bought more gold and bonds. After an intense discussion, with Mr. Fredrick and George Weasley, Luc followed Harry's example and invested in their joke shop, with the red heads agreement that they would put in a section in both of their stores for the Malfoy brand.

Aside from her re-hauling of the Manor, Narcissa decided that she would start selling magical real estate. Now, Cissa Malfoy is the one to call if you wanted to buy or sell. She has her husband help out occasionally.

Now they look forward to getting together with their close friends and discussing their children. When Draco moved out it surprised his parents, but admittedly it has given them the chance to pull together.
