Artemis POV
"I can't believe you're moving!" Megan wailed for the thousandth time this week.
My parents had already picked a place to move to and I admit it was a nice place…but it was all the way in California. It was a 2 story house with 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. I didn't know why we needed that many bedrooms rooms honestly, I had my own room and my parents shared one.
The place also had a laundry room in the basement, two space garage and a pool along with the regular stuff in a house.
I sighed. "Yeah" I said glumly.
"Have you told Wally?" Zatanna asked.
"No…I was planning to but-"
"But nothing. Artemis you have to tell him" Zatanna said sternly.
I huffed. "It's not fair" I said.
"Life's not fair" she replied.
"But this house is pretty cool and you get to go to a private school" Megan said trying to cheer me up.
"Whatever, I'm just going to have to make new friends again and meet new teachers and for a change have new people judge me" I said sarcastically.
They said nothing. "So has Wally said anything about it?" Megan asked.
I groaned. Another thing they wouldn't leave me alone about.
I had said-more like accidently blurted out-that I loved Wally in the hospital a long time ago and they wouldn't leave me alone. I knew he didn't hear me so what did I have to worry about?
"No, he didn't say thing and why would he? He didn't hear me" I said while getting up off my bed.
"So when are you telling him?" Zatanna asked.
I shrugged. "When the time is right" I replied.
"The time better be right soon" Megan said.
"Why…?" I asked whilst raising an eyebrow.
Now they looked nervous. "Because we kind of told Conner and Dick" Megan said.
My eyes widened. "You what?!"
The Next Day…

Wally POV
I sat down at the lunch table as a girl placed my food in front of me.
"Thanks Ashley" I said giving her a smile.
"No problem Wally" she said returning it before walking away her friends. Ever since my arm had broken someone had to carry all my stuff, including lunch. And Ashley just happened to be there at the time and volunteered.
"Hey Wally" Conner greeted.
"Hey" I replied.
"You seem happier than I thought you'd be" Dick said.
I stopped trying to take a bite of my hamburger and looked up.
"Why would I be upset?" I asked.
"That Artemis is moving away, you know since you like her and all" Conner stated.
"Artemis is moving? Are you sure?" I asked.
Dick nodded. "Pretty sure, Zatanna told me" he said.
I remained silent. How could she not have told me? Did she not care about me like I cared for her?
That couldn't be true.
Artemis POV
I took a deep breath.
How hard could it be to tell Wally that I was moving?
Just tell him like you told Megan and Zatanna. No big deal. So stop making a big deal out of it. I thought to myself.
I walked over to the guys but didn't sit.
"Hey Wally" I said whilst giving a small smile.
"Hi" he said grumpily.
"C-can I take to you alone for a sec?" I asked nervously.
He said nothing but stood up and walked out of the cafeteria.
I looked at Conner and Dick giving them a confused looked but they seemed to avoid my gaze. When I arrived at the hallway Wally was standing there glaring at the wall.
"I need to tell you something…" I started.
"How could you tell me that you were moving" he asked silently still not looking me in the eye.
My eyes widened. "H-h-how did you know that?" I asked.
"Dick and Conner" was all he said.
I silently cursed under my breath. The fuck could they?! They weren't even supposed to know in the first place!
"I was going to tell you before they found out but-"
"But you still told them first? Do you just not care enough to tell me?" he interrupted this time looking me dead in the eyes.
"No Wally I do care about you! A lot actually and it's just that-"
"Its fine really…I have to go" he said.
"But the cafeteria is the other way" I said.
"I'm not very hungry anymore" Wally said before walking away.
I would have ran after him but there was no use. He would have kept interrupting me making those assumptions again. There was no use; I would just hope that he would forgive me before I moved.
I sighed and walked glumly back to lunch.
The Next Day…

"He's still not talking to you?" Megan asked.
I nodded.
"Artemis we're so sorry! We should have never told Dick and Conner!" Zatanna said.
"Its fine, I just really hope he cools down before I move" I said.
"When do you move?" Megan asked.
"This Saturday" I replied.
"We have to have some going away party or something!" Megan wailed.
"I don't think so" I said quickly.
"Fine we can have a sleepover at your place on Friday" Zatanna said.
I sighed. "Alright" I replied.

The week passed by slowly yet quickly.
It was a drag not talking to Wally, I mean I would have thought he gotten over it by now! I've tried everything to try to get him to talk to me but nothing. And the week was also quick because I really didn't want to leave. But even I knew it was for the best.
I sighed as I closed my locker at the end of the day.
It was Friday the day before I left for California.
I slowly walked out of the school hoping to spot Wally and talk to him again. But of course for me, no such luck. I made my way over to Zatanna's car to see Zatanna saying bye to Dick and on the other side Conner and Megan flirting?
I sighed and sat down in the back of the car with all of Megan and Zatanna's sleepover stuff. Megan opened the passenger's seat and turned to me.
"Nothing?"
"Absolutely nothing" I replied.
Finally Zatanna got into the driver's seat. "Oh Artemis when did you get here?" she asked out of breath.
"When you were giving your goodbyes to Dick" I replied while rolling my eyes.
She smiled a little before started the car.
…
"Your house looks so empty!" Megan exclaimed.
"Yeah, I know" I replied.
I had never knew how big my house actually was until everything was gone. There was nothing left except some paper plates and cups, bottles of water and something for us to eat tomorrow and all of that was in the kitchen.
"Come on let's go up" I asked.
We climbed up the steps passing the now blank wall which used to be covered with family photos-some even including Zatanna and Megan with their family.
Finally we arrived at my room. After settling in Zatanna spoke.
"What's your new school going to be like?" she asked.
I shrugged, "Probably snotty rich kids that think their better than everyone else because they quote 'know people' and 'have money' or have 'met celebrities'. I am not looking forward to it" I replied.
"Aww don't be such a glum chum" Megan said in a baby voice.
"What's that?" Zatanna asked.
She was referring to the box labeled 'friends'.
"That's the stuff that has to do with you guys" I said quietly.
Zatanna got up from her place on the floor to drag the box back to us.
It had yet to be tapped yet because my mom still had the tape and hadn't given it back to me. It was the last box that I had packed.
Zatanna slowly opened the box and a smile appeared on her face.
"This was our first high school dance" she said.
Megan smiled. "That was a fun dance" she replied.
~~Flashback~~
"I-I don't want to do this" I said shyly.
"Come on don't be scared!" Megan said.
"But I don't do dances. Like at all, I'm just not that type of person" I said.
"Well it's high school! The years to be free!" Zatanna said.
I rolled my eyes. "I can go be free somewhere else" I said.
Zatanna grabbed my wrist.
"Pleaseee! You look great in your costume too!" Zatanna begged.
It wasn't anything special just a goddess costume.
It was a long white dress with gold outlines with a pair of sandals. My hair was up and had a golden wreath sitting on it.
"But you guys definitely look better" I said.
Megan was the Mad Hatter and Zatanna was little red riding hood.
Zatanna rolled her eyes. "Come on let's go before Megan's older brother leaves" Zatanna said.
From what I had learned Zatanna tended to be dramatic and Megan was always happy.
I had met the both of them in my English class; they thought I looked lonely so they started talking to me. That was on the first day of school and now it was the first dance of the year and they were making me go.
Let's just say I really didn't want to go. It wasn't my thing to dance and stuff.
Or to look kind of pretty.

When we got to the dance that thing was in full swing!
It was completely different from middle school dances. Okay so maybe not…but there were a lot more people.
"Come on let's go find Patricia and Avery" Megan said.
"I-I don't know" I said nervously.
It had been a few weeks into the school year but I had a feeling Patricia didn't like me much.
"God you're so prissy!" Zatanna said.
We walked over to them to see them with the "popular" boys and a few upperclassmen. When Patricia saw us she smiled. 'Okay maybe she doesn't hate me'. I thought. But then when she actually saw ME she frowned and scrunched up her nose.
"Hey guys!" Megan said enthusiastically.
"Hey Megan, hey Zatanna…Artemis" Patricia said as she made a face while saying my name again.
I just didn't get it. Why did she not like me? Was it because I was smarter than her? Or maybe it was my glasses?
All I knew was that it was going to be a long night.
…
"Look there's Dick Grayson!" Megan said.
"Who?" I asked.
Zatanna blushed.
"Dick Grayson they guy the Zatanna is totally crushing on!" Megan exclaimed.
I didn't like anyone. I mean sure the guys were cute but I don't really know any of them and they would probably never like me back.
"I can't help it he's so cute and smart and funny and just amazing" she said dreamily.
I rolled my eyes.
"Oh my god he's coming over!" Zatanna said in a panicked tone.
Before she could say or do anything else he was already over.
"Hey Zatanna" he greeted her while flashing a confident smile.
"Hey Dick" she replied shyly.
It reminded me of…me.
"I was wondering if you would like to dance?" he asked holding out his hand.
Zatanna said nothing while looking at his hand so Megan nudged her before she spoke.
"Uh…yeah, I would love to dance with you?" she said in more of a question than an answer.
Man she must've been really nervous.
They walked over to the other dancing kids while Megan and I stayed.
"I'll go and get some food" I said.
Megan nodded before turning and talking to someone else. I swear these people all already knew each other expect for me. I sighed as I surveyed the snack table when someone cleared their throat.
I looked up to see Patricia glaring at me.
"You need to stay away from Zatanna and Megan, popular and you don't mix" she said with a smirk.
I frowned. "T-t-they started talking to me fir-"
"I don't care. Stop. Talking. To. Them" she said sternly.
I opened my mouth but by then I was drenched in red punch and behind me was Avery laughing, evilly I might add.
The music stopped and everyone was staring at me. Some were laughing others were whispering but I saw Megan and Zatanna looking shocked.
I quickly ran out of the gym to save myself from further embarrassment, not that there was anything to save.
I ran out of the school and sat by a lamp post. And soon the tears started to fall.
"Artemis!"
I turned to see Megan and Zatanna running out of the double doors and towards me.
"W-what do you want?" I asked.
"We just wanted to make sure you were okay" Megan said gently.
"Well here I am. Red punch and all" I said glumly.
"You looked cool. Like a murdered goddess" Zatanna said.
"I don't think gods and goddesses could be murdered" Megan said.
Soon they started bickering about who was right and I laughed at their silliness.
"Listen we didn't know she would do that, I swear" Zatanna said.
"And we didn't know she could be such a bitch either" Megan said.
I laughed again.
"It's alright guys" I said.
"Great now it's picture time!" Megan said.
She took out her phone and we all crowded around it together.
"Say murdered goddess!" she said.
"Murdered goddess!"
~~End Flashback~~
We all laughed. "After that we became best friends" Megan said.
"And remember the time Dick and Zatanna first kissed?" I asked.
Zatanna blushed as Megan and I laughed.
~~Flashback~~
The game was over.
30 more seconds and the quarterback Wally West was running towards the end zone without the ball. Why because Dick Grayson had it.
I hadn't been paying attention for the whole game. I just complained and stared at random people and thought about how much I wanted to read.

And as soon as the buzzer went off Wally had already passed the end zone.
People were cheering and jumping out of their seats.
About half of them ran off the bleachers to congratulate Dick and Wally and their amazing teamwork. Megan dragged me up when she noticed I wasn't paying attention or standing.
I watched and Zatanna ran over to Dick happy and bouncing up and down. They had been hanging out for a while and had gotten pretty close so it wasn't like some crazy random girl doing that.
And before I knew it their lips had met each other's and they kissed.

Zatanna was blushing like crazy at the story.
That night we reminisced about all the memories leading up to now.
The sophomore class field trip, the time Wally and Linda got together and broke up, when Zatanna and Dick broke up, when I first got bullied by a "popular" and so much more.
The Next Morning…

I stood outside with Megan and Zatanna who were about to cry and Dick and Conner…with no Wally.
I sighed.
"I'm going to miss you guys so much!" I said on the verge of tears.
"We're going to miss you too" Zatanna said as her voice cracked.
I hugged them tightly before the tears started to spill.
"Call us every day, and text and FaceTime, Skype, even mail us!" Megan said as she was now sobbing too.
I nodded before letting go.
"Conner" I said lightly.
"Artemis" he replied.
There was silence before we both chuckled. "I'm glad I got to know you" he said.
I smiled. "Same" I replied before giving him a hug.
Wally POV
I sighed as I tossed the small foam basketball in the air before catching it in the same hand again. Who knows how long I had been doing it.
I knew what today was. It was the day Artemis moved. Leaving just as fast as she came in. I wasn't really mad about her not telling me last anymore but I still didn't want to see her.
Or at least I couldn't see her go away forever. I stopped throwing the ball when my phone rang. I quickly looked at the caller ID before answering.
"What's up?" I asked.
"Artemis is about to leave" Dick stated.
I groaned. "Don't you think I know that?" I replied.
I heard him sigh before speaking.
"Listen I know that you want to her see just as much as she wants to see you. She even made her parents wait a little longer in case you would show up. I know you're going to regret this later so I'm telling you this because I care. Get your lazy ass off your fucking bed and get over here now" he said.
I got up from my bed and ran out the house.
I had to make it there before she left or I would regret it.
Artemis POV
"I'm about to leave, is he coming?" I asked Dick.
He scratched his neck. "I'm sure he's on his way here. He doesn't live too far away" he said.
"Artemis we have to go" mom said.
"Okay…"
I turned to face my friends. "I guess this is goodbye?" I said starting to feel my tears again.
I quickly turned away and started walking when I heard yelling. It was Wally and he was running towards us.
He stopped when he was in front of me huffing and puffing. I bent down his head and put up his index finger indicating to wait a moment.
When he finally caught his breath he spoke.
"Artemis I am so sorry! I should have been here earlier with the others! I guess it was because I knew it would hurt too much to see you go but after Dick called me I realized that I was being an idiot if I didn't see you before you left" he said. His breathing was still heavy but he looked so sincere and it made me cry even more.
I hugged him tightly not wanting to let go but sadly I had too.
When I pulled away he had tears in his eyes as well.
I was about to walk away for real this time when he grabbed me.
"And I just wanted to say that I love you too" he whispered before letting me go.
So this is the last official chapter! And I say official because after this is the epilogue I've never written a story with a 'sad ending' so this is kinda new to me. But no fears there shall be a sequel! But please tell what I should work on and stuff! And what you thought of the story in general!
