Episode 46: Showdown of Shadows Part 1

One hour ago: An unknown Disciple of Darkness walks into Oblivion's throne room, which is still wrecked from Seto's duel. He walks up to Oblivion, who is sitting on his throne, and kneels down before him. The disciple lowers his hood and reveals himself to be Ruin. He states, "What happened here?" Then, almost as an afterthought, he adds, "My Lord."

Oblivion says, "The start of my contingency plan. The one that I shall enact if you fail that is."

"That is unnecessary. I will not fail."

Oblivion lets out a small chuckle, as if amused. He states, "That is what you told me the past two times I sent you to defeat Yuni. I even gave you the ability to banish a mind without first dueling, and yet you still failed."

Ruin gets defensive and says, "That wasn't fair! How was I supposed to know that he had two minds!?"

"It does not matter why you failed me. All that matters is that you failed me. Now why have you requested my audience?"

"Of course my Lord, I was just getting to that. I am ready to enact phase three of my master plan to rid this world of Yuni Oha. Or should I say Yugi Muto?"

Oblivion sounds slightly annoyed and says, "By phase three, you mean your third attempt to defeat an opponent that you should have beat days ago?"

Ruin also seems annoyed and says, "You could put it that way."

"Fine. What is this plan of yours?"

"Yes, my plan. I plan to unleash the Horde of Darkness on Yugi."

Oblivion looks amused. "The Horde of Darkness? Do you realize that we already attempted that strategy when Swarm attempted to defeat Yugi? What makes you think that it will be any different this time?"

"Just hear me out. I was getting to that. Instead of merely surrounding Yugi and dueling him one at a time, we will force him into a special new duel, hacked in by our programmers. I happen to know that he is currently separated from most of his friends. It will be him versus every Disciple we can send after him." Oblivion nods, but doesn't look like he has much faith in the plan. Ruin continues, "Then, once he has been weakened beyond his ability, I will go in and destroy Yugi myself."

Oblivion nods again, and says, "You plan on beating him with brute strength alone?"

"No, of course not. That brings me to my next request. I need the ultimate ability of Darkness."

Oblivion raises an eyebrow and looks amused. He questions, "Do you mean…"

Ruin nods. "Yes. I do not believe that it needs to be stated."

"Fine. I shall call upon the Horde of Darkness…and I shall grant you the ultimate ability."

"Thank you my Lord. I shall not fail-"

Oblivion cuts him off, "Just remember. You have failed me twice already. I do not normally except failure even once. If you fail me again…let's just say there won't be chance for a fourth failure."

Ruin gulps, and says, "Of course, my Lord."

Present: Yugi and Zenith are stepping out of the hospital. Yugi says, "You see, that wasn't that bad."

Zenith says, "Alright, yeah, I guess it wasn't too bad. I'll still never take a medical scan. But maybe, I won't worry about the hospital itself anymore."

"How's your leg feeling anyways?"

Zenith looks down at his leg and says, "It's great! It's like I never hurt it in the first place!"

Yugi and Zenith laugh. Suddenly, a voice from nowhere shouts out, "Yugi Muto, your time has come!" Yugi and Zenith frantically look for the source of the voice.

Suddenly the Duel Computer activates and says, "Official World of Duel Tournament duel now commencing. Specialized duel rules, set number 54: Battle Royale."

Yugi demands, "What's going on here!?" Suddenly shadows surround the two. The shadows begins to rise out of the ground and form into various Disciples of Darkness, some that we have seen, and other new ones.

The Duel Computer continues, "The combatants are Yuni Oha, Zenith Xenox, Cinder, Frostbite, Swarm, Phantasm, Tyrant, Enigma, Savage, Demon, Plague, and Doom. Duelists, ready decks."

Yugi demands again, "What is this?!"

Swarm says, "We have forced you into a Battle Royale duel. There is no escape. Now activate your Duel Gauntlet so that we can get this over with." All of the Disciples activate their Duel Gauntlets.

Yugi grabs his deck case off his belt and then looks at Zenith, who is doing the same. Yugi says, "Zenith, they only want me. You can escape. Get out of here while you still can."

Zenith looks at Yugi and says, "There's no way I'm leaving you to this horde all by yourself. No, we're in this together." Zenith activates his Gauntlet.

Yugi smiles, activates his Duel Gauntlet, and says, "Alright then, it's time to duel!"

The Duel Computer finishes, "Scanning decks…decks accepted. Commence Battle Royale."

The Disciples form a ring around Yugi and Zenith. They all draw, and then one by one they all start to summon monsters.

A chorus of voices are heard. "I summon Darkfire Inferno (Dark/Level 4/Pyro/Effect/ATK 1900/DEF 600)!"

"I summon Shadowfrost Guardian in defense mode (Dark/Level 4/Aqua/Effect/ATK 0/DEF 2100)!"

"I swarm the field with Dark Hive Soldier (Dark/Level 4/Insect/Effect/ATK 0/DEF 0)!"

"I'll set my Night Terror Fear Monger in facedown attack mode!"

"It's time to hunt, my Shadowsaur Raptor (Dark/Level 4/Dinosaur/Effect/ATK 1700/DEF 0)!"

"I summon Barbarous Garggl (Dark/Level 4/Beast-Warrior/Effect/ATK 2300/DEF 0)!"

"I call forth Cryptic Locke (Dark/Level 4/Spellcaster/Effect/ATK 0/DEF 0)."

"I call from the shadows, Archfiend Cavalry (Dark/Level 4/Fiend/Effect/ATK 1900/DEF 0)!"

"I infect the field with Steelswarm Caller (Dark/Level 4/Fiend/Effect/ATK 1700/DEF 0)

"I'll summon Brron, Mad King of Dark World (Dark/Level 4/Fiend/Effect/ATK 1800/DEF 400)!"

Yugi and Zenith look at each other. They both draw. Yugi declares, "I summon Cyber-Tech Automaton (Water/Level 4/Machine/Normal/ATK 2000/DEF 0)!"

Then Zenith says, "I special summon Frontline Invader (Dark/Level 6/Psychic/Effect/ATK 2400/DEF 0)!"

Enigma declares, "Cryptic Locke, attack Cyber-Tech Automaton! When my monster attacks, it gains 600 attack points for every monster on the field, that adds to a grand total of 7200 (ATK: 7200)!" Cryptic Locke launches a beam of energy at Yugi.

Zenith shouts out, "Whoa there! I activate Invasion Barrier! This card negates your attack and destroys your monster!" A shield appears around Yugi's monster and the attack bounces off and hits Enigma's monster. "Don't worry Yugi, I've got your back!"

Yugi says, "Thanks Zenith, I knew I could count on you! Now, Cyber-Tech Automaton, attack Steelswarm Caller!" Yugi's monster fires a steam-powered cannon at the monster (Plague's LP: 3700).

Zenith says, "Hey, you know? I've always wanted to duel alongside Yuni Oha, I never thought that it would work out quite like this! Go, Frontline Invader, attack Archfiend Cavalry!" A pulse of energy is sent at the monster (Demon's LP: 3500).

Plague, the Steelswarm duelist, says, "I special summon Steelswarm Cell (Dark/Level 1/Fiend/ATK 0/DEF 0) and then tribute it to summon Steelswarm Girastag (Dark/Level 7/Fiend/Effect/ATK 2600/DEF 0) using its effect!"

Demon, the Archfiend duelist, says, "I summon another Archfiend Calvary!"

Tyrant says, "You can not win Yugi! We have you out numbered five to one! For every monster you destroy, we'll just bring out another!"

Savage shouts, "Yeah, let's bring on the destruction! Barbarous Garggl, attack Yugi's monster! You can't beat our superior numbers!"

Suddenly Tori's voice shouts out, "We'll just have to even the odds then!" Out of nowhere, Brutus shoves his way past the circle of Disciples with Tori following him.

The Duel Computer says, "New duelists detected. Now entering Tori Rekishi and Brutus Marc. Scanning decks…decks accepted. Continue dueling."

Brutus pulls out a card and says, "I activate Negate Attack and stop your Barbarous Garggl's attack!" Brutus and Tori join up with Yugi and Zenith and form a square, each of them facing a different direction.

Yugi says, "I'm glad you guys could make it!"

Brutus says, "Are you kidding!? I wouldn't miss this for the world! I summon Legendary Lancer (Light/Level 4/Warrior/Effect/ATK 2400/DEF 0)!"

Tori adds, "Yeah, we wouldn't expect you to beat all these guy alone! I special summon Lithic Boulder (Earth/Level 4/Rock/Effect/ATK 0/DEF 2100)! Then I'll tribute it in order to summon Monolithic Statue Warrior (Earth/Level 6/Rock/Effect/ATK 2400/DEF 2000)!"

Swarm says, "It still doesn't matter! We still outnumber you. We still out power you! I summon another Dark Hive Soldier! Then it's effect allows me to summon yet another! Then I'll activate Hive Mind, and give my first soldier attack for every one I control (ATK: 3000)! Attack Cyber-Tech Automaton!"

Tori shouts, "Don't worry Yugi, I've got your back! Monolithic Statue Warrior, intercept and attack Dark Hive Soldier!" Tori's monster moves in front of Yugi's and slashes at the insect. "My Statue Warrior automatically destroys a monster it attacks with higher attack points than it!"

Brutus says, "Yeah, and now I'll have my Legendary Lancer attack Enigma directly!"

Phantasm declares, "I activate Beckoning Shadows! This card forces you to attack my facedown monster!" Brutus' knight turns away from Enigma and towards Phantasm and charges his facedown card, which flips to reveal the shadowy Night Terror

Fear Monger (Dark/Level 4/Fiend/Effect/ATK ?/DEF 0).

Brutus shouts out, "No! That card gains attack equal to my monsters attack plus 100 (ATK: 2500)!" Legendary Lancer finishes its attack and gets destroyed (Brutus' LP: 3900). Brutus recovers and says, "Whatever, there's more where that came from. I'll just replace my Lancer with Goblin Attack Force (Earth/Level 4/Warrior/Effect/ATK 2300/DEF 0)!"

Yugi says, "All right, it's time to get serious! I special summon Cyber-Tech Teleporter (Light/Level 4/Psychic/Effect/ATK 1700/DEF 1800), and then I'll tribute it and Cyber-Tech Automaton in order to summon Cyber-Tech Magician (Dark/Level 7/Spellcaster/Effect/ATK 2500/DEF 2100)!"

Zenith says, "And since a monster over level six was just summoned, I can special summon Strike Invader (Dark/Level 7/Psychic/Effect/ATK 2600/DEF 0)!"

Cinder says, "Enough toying around! It's time to get serious! I activate Darkfire Blitz! This spell destroys up to four monsters on the field! I'll destroy each of your monsters!"

Brutus says nervously, "Um…guys? Do any of you have anything to stop this?"

Yugi reluctantly says, "I wish I did."

Zenith says, "And…we're doomed."

Suddenly a voice from overhead says, "Looks like you losers need some help. I activate Magic Jammer and discard a card to negate your spell!"

The Duel Computer chimes, "New duelist detected. Now entering Seto Ossius. Scanning deck…deck accepted. Continue dueling."

Seto's card activates and negates Cinder's. Yugi, Brutus, Tori, and Zenith all look up towards the source of Seto's voice and see him standing on top of a nearby building, standing dramatically. He jumps off the short building and lands in between Yugi and friends in a kneeling position. All four say at once, "Seto!?"

Seto slowly stands and then draws a card. He says, "I summon Plasma Serpent (Light/Level 5/Dragon/Effect/ATK 1800/DEF 2000) with its effect and then special summon Plasma Mimic (Light/Level 1/Thunder/Effect/ATK 0/DEF 0), whose level becomes equal to my first monster's (Level: 5)! I tribute both monsters to special summon Cosmic Plasma Dragon (Light/Level 8/Dragon/Effect/ATK 3000/DEF 2500)!" Seto looks back at Yugi and says, "Where would you be without me?"

Yugi says, "Seto?! What are you doing here!?"

Seto, who still doesn't know that Yuni is actually Yugi, says, "Yuni, don't think that this means I want to save you. All I want to do is defeat these despicable Disciples of Darkness. After this, I'm back to trying to beat you."

Yugi thinks for a moment and says, "Seto, what do you know about these Disciples? I need to know everything you know. I need to find their hidden base."

Seto smiles. "Is that all? I can tell you where that is. To the west of Domino Park there's a giant hole in the ground. You can't miss it."

Yugi looks surprised. Tori turns to Yugi and says, "Go. Go and find the base."

Brutus says, "Yeah, we'll handle these punks.

Zenith says, "Don't worry about a thing."

Yugi looks at Seto. Seto says, "Don't worry about me. I can handle these guys by myself."

Yugi says, "Thank you guys." He looks back at Seto and says, "I need a path cleared, you think you could help me?"

Seto smiles with a cocky grin and says, "Of course I can. Go Cosmic Plasma Dragon, Plasma Stream of Destruction!"

From the perspective of Cinder and Frostbite, Seto's attack comes flying at them. Out of instinct, they both jump to they side. Suddenly Yugi runs between them and escapes the circle, Cyber-Tech Magician flying behind him.

Savage shouts, "No, don't let him get away!"

Plague shouts, "Go, Steelswarm Girastag, attack Cyber-Tech Magician!"

Yugi shouts back while running, "I activate Cyber-Tech Spellbook of Strength and boost my monster's attack by 1000 (ATK: 3500)!" The attack from Girastag hits Cyber-Tech Magician, but does nothing. The magician then launches a counter attack and destroys Girastag (Plague's LP: 2800). Yugi looks up at Cyber-Tech Magician and thinks, Don't worry Yuni, I'm on my way. I will bring you back at any cost! Cyber-Tech Magician fades away.

The Duel Computer says, "Duelist exiting. Now removing Yuni Oha from the duel. Continue dueling."

Tyrant shouts, "No! He got away!"

Swarm says, "Well let's go after him!"

Enigma says, "No, Ruin wanted to fight Yugi, let Yugi go to Ruin."

Frostbite questions, "But he planned to fight him here."

Enigma replies, "Yes, but he is not our superior. We serve only Lord Oblivion. Let Ruin have his prey, and in the meantime we'll take the opportunity to defeat four of the Disciples' greatest enemies." All of the Disciples turns their attention back towards Seto, Brutus, Tori, and Zenith.

Seto says, "Let the fun begin."

Yugi is looking down the hole created by Quantus, the Spatial Lord, into the Disciple base. He thinks, Wow, Seto wasn't joking when he said that this place was a hole in the ground. He takes a deep breathe. Alright, this is it. I'm coming Yuni! Yugi jumps down into the hole.

He lands down on the floor below with a thud. Standing in front of him, facing the other way, is Ruin. Oblivion is no longer in his throne. Ruin turns around in shock and says, "Well, well, well. Yugi. I wasn't expecting to see you here. Did my Disciples fail?"

Yugi says, "That was a low blow, sending in so many duelists just to defeat me. What, am I too good for you?"

Ruin says, "Oh no, not at all. They were just the pre-show. Get ready for the main event!" Ruin activates his Duel Gauntlet and then Yugi does the same.

The Duel Computer says, "Official World of Duel Tournament duel now commencing. Yuni Oha: 3,866 points vs. Ruin: 294 points. Scanning decks…decks accepted. Commence dueling."

Ruin says, "I can't believe that you would escape the Horde of Darkness and then just come to me. You're out of the frying pan, but you're into the fire now!"

Yugi says, "No Ruin! It's you who's in the fire! I will defeat you and you will bring back Yuni! You will pay for all you've put me through! It's time to duel!"
