Chapter four
Decisions decisions
Lily raced towards the boat without a second thought to hagrids questions or warning but she knew the drill, no hands in the water, stay in the boat and at least 3 to a boat. she just wanted to get away she didn't need to hear rose have a tantrum because she wasn't the smartest or have to explain to James that yes his little sister maybe in some of his classes, however she did want a friend someone to listen. Everything was getting to her and tears streamed down her face she didn't know what to do she wanted to have some part in her family, but she didn't want to be seen as another person in the shadow of the name. Because she was Lily Luna Potter, only daughter of Harry potter the war hero, God daughter of Severus Snape the genius potions master war hero and legend, who was able to trick voldemort. With both these great men backing and teaching her they ways in which to think fast use all knowledge and always be curious to never stand in the back ground. She would not let these tears fall. She was strong.
All this time she had not realise the boat come in to the dock she rose from her place took a breath, got out of the boat, help the other firsties and pulled her hand out "Hello, I'm Lily Luna, what's your name?" she was fearless and knew how to read people. Looking at both of them she could tell one was a muggle born and the other was pureblood.
The first, a girl she wore converses and high knee sock under her robes no pureblood would wear and then there was the Pokémon badges dead giveaway. The boy however harder to differentiate between purebloods and half-blood although it doesn't really matter, it gives you an idea on what perspectives they might have and how much magic they'd previously know.
"Oh, hey I'm George, George Finnegan. Nice to meet you." Held grasped at Lily's hand and shook briefly before turning to walk up to the castle. The girl was still shock probably in amazement, it hadn't been my first time here and I was used to it, a home from home even though I had only been here briefly for a few summers. "Wow, this place is amazing Anastasia, that's my name if you were wondering." "Well lovely to meet you we should probably head up don't want the feast to start without us now" Lily said jokily "oh no my first day and im already late for the feast what will they think of me" Lily realised how much this girl was like her aunt Hermione in the stories they used to tell us. "it's fine, I was only joking."
20 minutes later and 15 pounds lighter.
"First years I'm here to welcome you on behalf of all Hogwarts. My name is professor longbottom and I teach herbology. So I expect I will be seeing all of you in some of my lessons. Now in a few minutes I will be taking you through to the great hall, were you will all be placed in you houses, please remember no house is better than another but carry many amazing traits which can be developed in these houses. Alright I believe its time."
Walking through the great hall is daunting for anybody but Lily took it in her pride as the door swung open most first years were apprehensive, to say the least Lily decided to take the role of leader and strode forwards until she was at the same pace as uncle Neville. The others soon followed in her footsteps till they reached the stole and hat.
The boring speeches continued and they name calling began, Lily didn't pay attention, if they were all supposed to be equal then she would still get to know everyone and she didn't need to stick to a house. Did she?
The number of people slowly decreased to the last 10 Lily's name was called, the great halls forever buzzing quietened and the call of her name she could hear Fred collecting bets, trust Fred to make a galleon or two on what house will Lily Luna Potter the daughter or two Famous Gryffindor's who parents were also famous Gryffindor's. But Fred knew that Lily hated the idea of being in Gryffindor, he understood she had to be her and not just another weasley/potter but her own person.
As Lily spun around to sit upon the stool she realised she was being keenly watched by one particular slytherin, Scorpius had a glint in his eyes that was saying I know what you're doing. But he didn't completely, he knew she would not be a Gryffindor but she was definitely smart enough for ravenclaws and she managed to find a good enough hiding place to stay away for her brothers so she could fit in with the hufflepuffs. She wouldn't be a slytherin, she would have to know better than that, she is a risk taker but she wasn't that stupid was she.
"hmmmmm, your smart, too smart in fact you don't know when to stop and be humble or to push people to their own limits to make them as good as you, you're brave, bravery is honourable but you don't want to be seen as another hero of Gryffindor. You're not particularly friendly and judge most before you know them definitely not a hufflepuff. Sooooo, where to put you Miss Potter you're smart and brave, strong and cunning, you're an overachiever and like to push other. I know exactly where to put you."
The hall took a breath all in unison, Lily could see James and Albus already rising to their feet to cheer for the new Gryffindor before the hat screamed.
"SSSSSSLLLLLLYYYYTTTTHHHHEEEERRRRRIIIIINNNN!"
A unanimous gasp spread across the group before a single clap started by Scorpius lead to a thunderous applause by the slytherins. She heard weeping as a 3rd year begged Fred to let him off that he had no other money for the rest of the term it turned out a win win for Fred and Lily. But a gloom spread across the group as the weasley/potter clan of Gryffindor turned to Lily and tore her down in one look of disappointment, remorse, upset and disgust. Lily began to feel like she was drowning until a hand dragged her up from her seat into a hug. It was Scorpius.
