THE LIGHT AT THE END
Dean knew he wasn't dead the moment the smell of the hospital filled his nose. Apparently they hadn't listened to his final request and he was going to have to do something about that.
If they expected him to ever be the same Dean Winchester again boy they were in for a surprise.
He moved and groaned in pain.
"So are you like going for a record on being shot the most in one year?" Sam said softly.
"Sam…..I can't…..please don't make me…" He said tears already streaming.
"Dean she's alive." Sam interrupted.
He snapped his head to stare at Sam so fast he got dizzy. "What?"
"She's still unconscious but she's alive breathing on her own and the baby is alive."
Dean's tears continued to stream but for a whole different reason. He would thank God every day for this.
"How? He shot her in the head." He asked hoping he didn't sound ungrateful.
Sam smiled and took Dean's hand. "That angel hairpiece you bought her for her birthday dude. It ricocheted the bullet. The impact still caused some bruising and swelling and tore her scalp but otherwise no bullet penetration. Your angel saved your angel."
"All that blood." He remembered vividly.
"You know how head wounds bleed and some of the blood was probably yours from being shot because apparently you think you're Robocop."
"Way better looking." He murmured and slipped back into the black.

He'd admit that he acted quite adolescent in his endeavor to see Arandi but he needed to see her, touch her so that he could process this third miracle in his life.
He was ok bullets hadn't stopped him before try as they might.
Sam had warned him that swelling made her almost unrecognizable but it still brought him to tears. Her beautiful hair gone.
Sam pushed his wheelchair as close to the bed as possible, the only way they would let him see her, then he left them alone.
Dean reached for her hand and caressed it gently. "Hey baby. I'm here and I'm never leaving you again."
He felt a slight twitch of her fingers. He knew they would tell him that it was just reflexes but he knew that it was hope.

All he heard was that she was awake. Everything else they told him slipped away because nothing else mattered except that she was awake.
He moved as fast as his body would allow him and frowned when he heard Arandi's voice ringing out in distress and Jade trying to calm her down.
He shuffled into her room and she stopped struggling and stared at him.
Dean wanted to shout for joy but he should have known better.
"Are you my doctor?" She asked. "Can you please tell me what's wrong with me and who are these people?" She said motioning to Jade and Sam.
He lost his breath and leaned heavily against the door frame. After everything they had just been through he had lost her anyway.

Arandi sat impatiently on the exam table waiting to be examined.
She had very little patience for anything because not remembering your entire life was just like being born all grown up.
They only thing that kept her sane and moving from day to day was that little life growing inside of her.
She had no idea who the father was although the woman who said she was her sister and showed her a million things to prove it, said it was the handsome man with the pretty green eyes.
He was very handsome and looked so sad because she couldn't remember him but the baby growing inside her, she knew without a doubt that she loved more than anything and not just because she really didn't know anything lately.
His name was Dean and somewhere deep inside of her she knew that she had loved him once but now he was just the green eyed stranger that wanted to be by her side all the time.
He stepped quietly into the room and she looked up at him. Pulling the sheet that she was covered with higher.
"I just wanted to know if I could hear the baby's heartbeat with you?" He asked timidly.
"You're the dad so I guess it's ok." She replied nervously. She had tried so hard to remember him because his sadness bothered her.
The doctor came in and did the ultra sound and her own heart sped up when she heard the loud and strong heartbeat of her child. She didn't even realize when she reached for Dean's hand until she felt his fingers twitch under hers.
She felt embarrassed but she needed that contact. Another sound from the monitor disrupted the heartbeat and Arandi jumped, really squeezing Dean's hand. "What's wrong with my baby?" She asked her eyes wide with fear.
The doctor smiled. "Miss Remington, there is nothing wrong with your baby, it just looks as if he decided to have company."
"Twins." Dean whispered his eyes full of tears.
"Twins." The doctor confirmed. Knowing the circumstances of their situation he left them alone.
Arandi pulled her hand back slowly and went into the changing room to get dressed again.
When she came out she stared at Dean who was standing at the expanse window sobbing quietly.
She was beside him before she realized that she had moved. She pulled him close and cried with him. "I'm so sorry that I don't remember you."
He only sobbed harder.

Dean was beginning to think he should move his living room to the balcony since he spent more time there than anywhere else in his apartment.
The city sounds just had a way of calming him even the damn sirens although he hoped that they weren't all tolls of death.
Six weeks had dragged by so far and he felt as every second of it he had been dragged over shards of glass.
Amnesia. The love of his life had amnesia and it was beginning to look as if it were permanent. She let him come around most days and he was grateful that she tolerated him because she knew that he was her babies' father. Still the lack of recognition in her eyes was like living in hell.
The way everyone looked at him with pity but they didn't understand, those babies growing inside her were his babies and nothing in the world would make him walk away ever again. He lived terrified of the day that she would ask him to leave her alone but so far she seemed to understand his need to be there.
The sound of his doorbell made him jump and he looked at the time. It was just past midnight so who could it be?
He couldn't open the door fast enough when he saw her through the peephole.
"Arandi?"
"Dean can I come in?" She asked shyly her hands over her still small baby bump.
"Yes, yes of course." He said as his heart hammered in his chest. He stepped aside and let her in. "Can I get you anything?"
"Some water would be nice."
"Have a seat." He said moving to his kitchen and getting her a tall glass of water with crushed ice and lemon.
She stared at the glass as he handed it to her. "You know everything about me." She whispered. "How can I not remember you?"
He had no idea what to respond so he just sat facing her on the couch.
"I came to see you because I figured that you would be the only person to tell me everything. My sister is keeping things from me because she's scared that I'll be traumatized. Hello shot in the head can get more traumatized than that."
Dean grinned, her sense of humor was still there.
She tucked her hair behind her ear and he fingers twitched with the want to do it for her. Her hair was growing back and was just above reaching her shoulders.
"I'll tell you whatever you want to know." He said swallowing thickly.
"I want everything, every detail down to me getting shot. Please Dean I need to know this even if I don't remember any of it.
Dean nodded. "Well your parents had sex and….."
She swatted his leg and the mere touch was both heaven and hell. Her laugh intoxicating. "I didn't mean everything, everything." She smiled that smile that melted him from the inside out.
"We met at the academy and….." That was where he began.
