Chapter 26

Intimacy is a wonderfully tiring experience. I'd surrendered to slumber to the second time with being in the Cullen's household and I awakened refreshed but san one Leah Clearwater. I ran my hands through my hair as I processed everything from last night. The major thing that stuck in my mind was that I now had a fiancé. Leah and I were going to be married and belong to each other. I was going to be able to posses her mind, body, and spirit. I knew I could do now but I wanted to do it the right way. She seemed to truly be happy with the gifts I'd given her. I'm not sure which one she enjoyed more us being able to embrace or the ring. I know my favorite part of the night was our last kiss goodnight. My fingers were in her hair and our mouths connected slowly and passionately. Her beautiful eyes carried such a passionate expression as she gazed upon me. I remembered laying my head against her chest and her tiny delicate fingers stroking my back until she dozed off. "Oh Leah the memories you give me," I murmured as I ran my fingers along her pillow before collecting myself from the bed.

The morning was almost over and I wondered how long Leah had been up. I was actually kind of hungry today for human food. It was odd because I normally preferred blood. As I traveled downstairs I heard Ness whining about something. I knew that I'd got up at the right time. Leah could probably use a reason to part from her best comrade. I knew that Leah had told me on several occasions that Ness' tendency to whine was one of her qualities that she found less than appealing. I followed Leah's scent into the kitchen to find everyone surrounding her.

"You," Renesmee barked at my and blocked my path to Leah. She glared at me with her hands on her hips. I narrowed my eyes I didn't know what her deal was but it took everything in me not to pin her to the ceiling.

"Yes," I said through gritted teeth. I noticed that Leah was smirked at me. At least she found it amusing. I noticed that Bella and Alice were grinning at me too. Everyone was acting peculiar this morning.

"What is that around Leah's neck?" I rolled my eyes now I knew what she was going on about. I'd told them I'd ask in front of them. I only felt a little bad about breaking my promise.

"An engagement ring," I answered and I heard the whispered from the sidelines. I noticed that someone was frowning and I was glad. I hoped he'd gotten the message. Leah was no longer his and he had no rights on her. I was who she wanted; I was who she'd be with for the rest of eternity.

"You promised you'd propose in public!" Renesmee poked me in chest to make her frustrations quite clear. I really should've pinned her to the ceiling. Edward cleared his throat but he had to know he daughter was out of line.

"Alright, Ren lay off!" Leah stated firming and Ness turned her attention her best friend. Leah held the bridge of her nose which was clear sign that she'd had enough of something.

"Sorry, I just thought that it would be appropriate to propose on her birthday. I wanted to make her day even more special," I explained even though I didn't really owe her one. I just wanted her to move out of the way. I wanted to wrap my bride to be in my arms. I didn't think that was too much to ask for. Where was Jacob when I needed him? He should really be reining her in. I attempted to move past her again and was blocked yet again. I hissed under my breath.

"That's find and good Nahuel, but couldn't you have done that AT the party and NOT after! And where did you go to anyway? You left for like an hour, that's when you have been proposing!"

"That's enough Ness," Jacob cooed as he wrapped his arm around his whining girlfriend. He had the decent to issue me an apologetic look. It didn't bother me too much I had a younger sister sometimes they acting their age.

"Did you ever thing that it needed to be a private matter sweetheart?" Esme offered to try to cool off her grandchild. Ness lowered her eyes, crossed her arms as she gave it some thought.

"No, I didn't. It should've been something that we all experienced together." She really wasn't letting this thing go. I looked past her and to my Leah. She moved closer to me but couldn't get past Jacob and Ness.

"Can you please be satisfied with knowing now? Leah was holding her head as she pleaded with her friend. Ness was making this so much about her that it had sucked the fun out of announcing it to everyone. I could see the hurt in Leah's eyes. I finally tired of being polite and shoved past them so that I connect with my fiancé. I rubbed her back and she leaned into me.

"Oh I'm sorry Leah, I'm ruining this for you aren't I?" Finally Renesmee gained her composure and did what a good friend would do. She embraced Leah and silenced herself. "It's just that you're my best friend and I wanted to be there for you.

"I know Ren, I'm used to your over the top behavior. I know you mean well and that you're happy for me." Leah ruffled her hair. "But you're gonna have to get over yourself if you're gonna be my maid of honor." This announcement made Renesmee's eyes light up. I personally didn't think she deserved the honor to be awarded to her since she'd made such an outburst.

"Really? Me? Oh thank you Leah! You won't be sorry!" The girl gripped my girlfriend tightly and she patted her on the back.

"Honestly Ren, who else would I have picked? You're the one who brought me out of my personal hell and back into the real world." I knew that Leah was talking about her hurt and betrayal of Sam and some of the others in her tribe. I could only imagine how alone she must have felt.

We all bypassed school to because the weather didn't permit it. It was far too sunny and the others would've been exposed. Instead the two packs raced and we all got to spend time with the wonderful Sam. I huffed I was ready for this guy to be gone. I didn't understand his attraction to Leah. He'd imprinted and I wished that he'd felt nothing for her like he was supposed to. There was something eerie about the way he watched her.

I was actually glad they raced though. At least that way I didn't have to look at his face. After the race Leah was elated that she'd beaten them all. She was doing her little victory dance which was adorable in itself. I'd have to remind her later that I could still be her though. One of her pack mates said something about her knowing the terrain better. He claimed she had an unfair advantage.

"Right, then what was your excuse in Forks?" Leah tapped her pointer finger against her chin. "Oh, that's right the sun was in your eyes … every single time." She giggled.

"Ha, Ha, well guess what Seth's right, your wolf form does look creepy now!" The male, I think his name was Embry, retorted.

"I thought she was beautiful," Sam blurted out and I really wished he'd wear a muzzle. Leah gave him a confused look and then gave him a little smile that he didn't deserve. I knew I was frowning and I didn't make any real efforts to cover my disposition. Leah looked up at me after Edward whispered something. She had her arms wrapped around me as I rubbed her back and I kissed her forehead playfully. I went to tuck her hair behind her ear and she jerked away from me as if I'd hurt her.

"Are you okay?" She nodded but I knew she wasn't being truthful. Her hand was now covering the spot that aggravated her.

"Let me see." I moved her hand to the side and all of a sudden I felt as though I'd swallowed something foul. "Teeth marks," I murmured horrified. "I bit her!" I couldn't remember when but I was the only vampire that'd been close enough to Leah's neck to commit the crime. How could I have been so careless? Maybe I'd tried to attack her in my sleep or something.

"It looks like your teeth only grazed against her skin, there's not sign of breakage," Edward explained. He went to touch the area but Leah flinched away from him. "I can barely see the teeth marks it almost looks like a little red rash. It's just irritated. You should be fine, you'll most definitely live." The two of them laughed but I didn't see anything funny about the matter. What if I was having one of my nightmares and I confused Leah for Eva and I hurt her. Maybe it would best if we still had separate rooms? Maybe even with the good news we'd just received I was still incapable of loving fully.

"Nahuel, didn't you hear him? I'm fine!" Leah stepped toward me and I stepped back. I needed time to think this through.

"I just proposed to you, and then I almost killed you in the same night." I was angry at myself and mentally kicking myself for thinking that everything was supposed to be smooth sailing now.

"No you didn't!"

"Yes, yes I did! I almost killed you like I almost killed my mother." I ran my hands through my hair. "I keep trying to kill the people I love most," I shed tears for the memory of my mother as well in my damned impulsive behavior. I noticed that some of the others were looking at me like I was over reacting but if they lived a millisecond with the burdensome guilt I felt they'd look this way too. Leah cradled my face and observed me with saddened eyes. The others were slowly exited the area. I'm turned what was supposed to be a fun filled afternoon until a depressing event.

"Nahuel, you were a baby. It wasn't your fault. You have to know that," Leah whispered and cooed to me like someone would do a small child. Her brown eyes sparkled with concern and sincerity.

"I'll kill you too Leah. Someone as wonderful and beautiful as you is not meant to be in my life forever. I murder such precious things. I'll only cause you pain." I sat on the ground and she rolled her eyes and followed suit.

"That's not true!" She laid her head on my shoulder and held my hand in both of hers.

"Maybe we should call off the," I started to do what I thought was safest for her and she objected adamantly.

"Oh no you don't! You asked, I answered, and now you're stuck with me for life! Get used to it buddy!" She snickered and I chuckled a little at her flamboyant answer. I shifted so I could look at the damage that I caused to her once more.

"You know what's odd?" I mused.

"What?"

"I don't find you the least bit appealing in that way. Your scent doesn't make me thirsty. I don't understand why I tried to bite you." I knew that I hadn't had a dream last night I usually remember all of my dreams. Even if I was dreaming she doesn't smell right. She didn't smell like anything I'd want to take a bite out of. She snickered at me as if I'd said something stupid.

"Nahuel, you've never heard of a hickey?" I narrowed my eyes at her and her laughter intensified. "There are other reasons to bite someone." Then she moved over to me and placed a slow wet kiss on my neck. The heat of her lips and tongue cause urges to stir within me. Then she began to suck on my flesh as she slowly placed herself in my lap which only made my want for her intensify. I wrapped my hands around her waist and she'd begun to slowly gyrate against me. After a few moments of this amazing feeling I felt her teeth gently graze my flesh and the feeling was actually quite erotic. Our bodies were welded together and she hungrily moved in for a passionate kiss. I was all for it. I wanted her closer and for her to move faster. I wanted to taste her delicious mouth and I wanted to make her feel as amazing as she made me feel. As our movements increased she began to pant and groan.

"Nahuel," she said my name in that way that let me know I was doing something right. I went to kiss her again there was no need for words right now all that was needed were tongues, lips, hands, and the naughty little movements coming for Leah.

I'm not exactly sure when we came up for air. All I know as that I really didn't want to. I was afraid that if we'd continued our antics that what we'd done wouldn't be enough. Leah's arousal was in the air and I was becoming quite familiar with her aroma. It only intensified my desire to please her, but whenever it was presence it was a good indicator it was time to stop. We sat together with our forehead connected as I allowed my fingers to roam the smoothness of her skin.

"So are you okay now?" She asked at a whisper.

"Yes, I believe I am," I answered while I massaged the outsides of her thighs.

"Good, now can we rejoin the others?" She went to stand up and I grabbed her by the waist and kept her in my lap. I'd much rather her here with me than in the presence of her ex.

"Or … we could stay here a little longer." I tried to intentionally be seductive. I began to create my favorite trail of kisses that started at the spot right under her chin. "We should stay … just for a little while longer," I murmured against her skin and a shiver went down her spine.

"Your wish is my command," she breathed with playful laughter as she allowed her hands to rest on my shoulders while I showered her with kissed.

"Good, now I would like to revisit this "hickey" thing once more," I said before I allowed myself to kiss her lips and slip back in to our passionate bliss.
