Love To
Chapter 31:
"First, take off that ridiculous disguise Jace. I know my son and you aren't him." Valentine kicked back. I swallowed and Jace stiffened, but drew his dagger out of his pocket and disfigured the rune by drawing a slash through it.
"And this is why we aren't close." I scoffed and folded my arms.
"Tsk tsk Clarissa. You honestly didn't think I'd know about your new boyfriend? And the fact that Jonathan is locked up in that scum Downworlder's flat? You should know better." Valentine grinned.
"Seeing as how I choose not to know you may be a contributing factor…" I mumbled. He toned the grin to a cool smile; his eyes were almost like icicles. "So will you inform us of the plan daddy dearest?"
"I suppose. Seeing as how I'm going to get rid of him," He jutted his chin towards Jace, "and you'll come along with me without the screaming and kicking."
I glared at him and Jace just sat next to me, staring.
"I'm going to purify the race with the help of you and your brother. How much do you know of the Mortal Cup Clarissa?"
"Enough." I growled. I knew where this was going.
"So you know of its ability to create more Shadowhunters?" I nodded.
"Well, you, your brother, and I will summon the Angel to aid us in creating a new race of Shadowhunters to wipe out the demons and their spawn." He said as if it were the simplest thing in the world. He really was crazy.
"And you need me for what?"
"I thought we had established this..." He sighed running a hand through his hair. "You have two things I want; your skill and your mother."
"Why do you want my mom?" I growled.
"Well, I'm guessing you believe in love so you understand."
"You realize she's remarried right?" Jace spoke up.
"Yes to Lucian. However, it'll be hard to no come back after I have him killed." He smiled.
"Over my dead body." And then I was no longer sitting on the couch but poised over Valentine with a knife held to his throat. The force of my jump had knocked the chair back and my mouth was set in a, what I assume, terrifying grimace. "Give me one reason why I shouldn't kill you?" Valentine merely laughed.
"You may be brave Clarissa, but you are no murderer. Plus I'm your father." He smiled and his cold eyes bored into mine.
"You're not my father. Luke is. And I may not kill you but I can deliver you to the Silent City." There was a little flash in his eyes and then a blow to my stomach. I flew back and hit the opposite wall. I watched as Valentine flipped over the chair landing in a crouch. Jace, who had been standing behind me, had charged at him but he was already moving. I rolled over, sore and bruising and watched the two fighting. I crawled across the floor as Jace kicked out at Valentine. I found that my knife had skidded behind the couch and I made my way there first.
Jace's POV
I honestly do not like Clary's father. I had made the decision a while ago. But the feeling of dislike had grown to an extreme hatred. It may be the fact that he was wrestling around the room with me and keeping me from tending to Clary or it may be the fact that he had hurt her either way I kind of wanted him to die. I felt a sharp kick to my side and searing pain ran through my upper torso. I could only hope it was just a fractured rib, and nothing had broken free possibly causing an artery to open. I gulped in a quick breath that caused the pain to increase and threw my fist at his gut which landed knocking his own breath out. He quickly recovered and grabbed me by my jacket pulling me closer to him.
"Any last words Mr. Herondale?" He seethed. Blood was trickling slowly out of his mouth.
"Nice meeting you." I hissed. And then he fell on to me. I could see Clary kneeling behind him and a shattered lamp in her hands. Valentine was unconscious on top of me. Weird. Clary helped me roll him off and then we set to work with tying his hands and feet. I dialed Alec's number, telling him to bring the others. I went to Clary.
"Clary, you're bleeding." I sighed, taking my stele out again. She winced revealing a shallow knife wound in her stomach.
"He must have stabbed me as he threw me." She mumbled. "So much for family love." She gave me a weak smile. I kissed her and drew back to draw the iratze.
"My little warrior." I smiled. I could hear her clench her teeth as my stele touched her stomach and winced. "I'm sorry you got hurt."
"It's not your fault. I brought it on myself. Jace?" She had grabbed my chin making me look at her.
"I really do love you. You know that right?" I spoke in an almost whisper. She laughed lightly.
"Yes I know. I love you too." She leaned forward and kissed me and I kissed her back. My hands slipped slowly up her arms causing her to shudder. They found her way up her neck curling in her hair. My tongue pressed lightly to her bottom lip asking for entrance. She obliged and parted her lips. Her fingers trailed down my spine, finding the hem of my shirt and sliding her hands underneath. They fluttered over my stomach and it made me groan in satisfaction. My hands flattened on her back and pulled her closer to me. Her mouth was sweet tasting of mint and blood. I broke away from her mouth, kissing her cheeks and down her neck and she sighed with pleasure.
"Oh by the Angel! Can we keep our hands to ourselves until we get back to the Institute?" Alec spoke loudly from behind Clary. She pulled away quickly, pulling her hands away but let mine hang on her hips.
"I suppose. You have extremely bad timing Alexander." I sighed.
"I agree. I need to go wash my eyes."
"Maybe Magnus has a spell for that." Clary grinned as did I.
"Hardy har Clary." He rolled his eyes. "Now pull yourselves off each other the others are on their way up."
I can't believe it took me this long to update and I'm really sorry about that. But I'm back and I hope you aren't too angry. I was going to update last night but I was very tired and depressed from reading Clockwork Princess again. I cried for about an hour because of that damn epilogue! If you have not read it, which reading it should be a requirement if you've read TMI, I strongly suggest it! I hope you like the chapter and I thank all of those who have reviewed and supported me through this story, it really means a lot. There's a possibility I'll update tomorrow but I don't know yet but I promise the updates will come faster than this one.
Okay, bye-bye for now! - Emma
