Authors note: Really sorry it's been a long time... But here's a chapter.
By the way, if you are wondering why Kai is a turtle but Leonadi is human yet they are both human-turtle hybrids, it's because in this story hybrids can either be born completely human or completely turtle in appearance. I thought it would be an interesting plot point.
"There's something very damaged about you.
But I've got a bad habit of,
Never giving up.
Even when you want me to."
"Lovely Bones" - Dead and Divine
Father Venus Leonardo Angel Karai Leonadi... Jade... This was all too much to swallow, all that she had learned in these past few days. She just wanted to get away, get away , collect her thoughts and hopefully make sense of the face that she'd been lied to her entire life by her father. Moth created as much distance between her father as she could manage on Manhattan Island.
She sat at the edge of a building called Blockbuster and hugged her knees. No matter how much she stared out at the pretty lights of the city the chemicals remained restless and she could not relax. She never in her life had felt so incredibly drained; not even the time fath... Master Michaelangelo forced her to train for twenty-four hours straight to exercise a ninjas ability to keep up intensity and not succumb to fatigue over a long period of time. Maybe that was a lie too, maybe he just wanted to see her suffer, her hated her biological mother enough to see her as a whipping girl.
Karai... She'd grown up hating this woman who until a few months back was just a name in a story. Yet Karai was her mother, who chose to love her even though she was a Foot clan traitor. And thinking back, there was really no denying it. The reason Karai had seemed familiar way back when was because gazing into Karai's face was like looking at her own without scars. Sure her skin was paler and her eyes was a different shape, but the resemblance couldn't be denied.
And she had a brother too, albeit a half brother whom until recently was just a mutant comrade she disliked, but Kai was her blood all the same, they had the same mother. Leonardo, no matter how much she despised the turtle, his name and his face, he was more than her adopted uncle, but he was her father-in-law.
Maybe it was a good thing fath... Master Michaelangelo kept all of this secret, she just wished it all could have stayed secret, she could have gone on fine without knowing all that she now knew.
Hearing a sharp sound, Moth turned abruptly and deflected a kunai with one of her scimitar. She saw some meters behind her he stood, green eyes pinkish as a sign of earlier crying and expression showing only one emotion.
Hatred.
Cody felt weird being back home, after being so used to being a Foot soldier, and he felt especially off from seeing his parents so overjoyed to see him home, giving him and his comrades food, talking to him and giving them privacy in the family room. Quinn... Joyce, or whatever her real name was, was alone in a corner rubbing her head, because of her angry demeanor the others were leaving her be. Reno was taking a nap on the couch, and Travis was attempting to have a conversation with Keene who would not peel his eyes away from the window.
"Cody?" His father Casey softly called from the kitchen "Can I speak to you?"
The obligatory talk, Cody walked into the kitchen.
"Listen, you are in big trouble. But... lets not focus on that right now, whatever you think about your mother and I, we love you. Always have and always will, whatever Foot bullshit has been drilled into your head you need to know now that they are evil." Casey said, alternating being soft and stern.
"Did... Did they really kill my sister like Marlo...Moth told me?" Cody felt shameful about his voice becoming a whimper at the end of his sentence.
A sadness filled Casey's eyes, and the crinkles around them deepened "You had a sister before you were born." The older man slowly confirmed "And because of that turtle you took food, shelter and orders from, she is no longer with us." His voice progressively became more angry, Cody could tell he was talking about Leonardo.
"Dad," Cody choked, feeling awful "I'm sorry... I didn't know."
"No, no you didn't you little smartass... Think you're so smart, but there's something you didn't know." Casey sounded defeated as he left the kitchen and his son standing in the middle of it, trying to pull himself together.
How could he have been so stupid? He saw real street kids, kids like Keene who had a way worse life than him, kids who had the join the Foot because they had no home. Kids who were kicked out, or whose parents died. And what had he joined the Foot for? He didn't even know, he had a great life and loving parents that gave him food, shelter and care. Yet he had taken all of what they had given him, and spat right in their faces and left them, left them when they had already lost one child to the Foot clan.
"Kai," Moth said emotionlessly to her half-brother "you don't want to fight me."
"Like hell I don't!" The mad mutant hybrid spat, more tears filling his eyes "It wasn't enough for you was it! It wasn't enough you drove my mother insane and made her think you were her daughter!"
"It's the truth Kai," she admitted "I wish it wasn't true, I just found out.."
Her statement only added to his rage "You couldn't handle the truth..." His voice trailed dark and sinister "And you killed her... You killed my mother... She was your mother too!" He charged at her and Moth could only raise her sword to the block the strike of his.
"I'll kill you! I'll kill you! I hate you, I hate you! I hate you so much you bloody savage! You goddamn fool! You will pay!" Kai was screaming, screaming with so much rage and hatred, there was foam spilling over his lips.
"What are you talking about?"Moth demanded; Karai was dead?
"Don't play dumb!" Kai growled, he struck his sword down attempting to cleave her arm off but Moth moved out of the way in time "Father told! He brought my mother's body to me, he told me you killed her."
Karai was dead... Moth didn't quite understand why she felt sad about this, she had only recently found out that Karai was her mother, maybe it was the feeling of the unknown, not being able to actually experience having a mother. Did.. Did this mean that Kai was cursed? Could she kill the curse? Kai did not give her time to speculate, he continued to assault her with sharp words and a sharper sword, all the the anguished emotion in his eyes and contorted on his face was a stark contrast to the dead lack of emotion that she was used to seeing in him.
"Kai, stop please..." Moth begged "I don't want to fight you.." Where were these words coming from? She was a warrior, he was her enemy...
"Never!" He shouted, and disarmed her of her scimitar with a swift strike close to her hand. There was a clang as her arabian blades fell several feet away.
Moth could only dodge, she could not bring herself to draw out to tomahawk and attack back, he was... Her brother, and even thought she was a warrior by code she was taught to value family over everything.
"Kai stop." She said, her emotions drained from her body and an eery feeling of nothing filled her instead, she knew what she had to do.
"No!" The green-eyed mutant screamed, he then shouted in pain when the wooden handle of her tomahawk struck his chest plate, and struck it several times and made it crack. What was she doing? Impact pressure wouldn't stop his heart, in contrast to human anatomy his organs were protected by more muscle layered under his plastron. "Surely you know being raised by a turtle you can't exert enough force to stop my heart." He taunted.
He let out a yelp when Moth used sudden speed and force to grab his shoulders and pin him to a billboard, she looked close to tears.
"Forgive me." She whispered and let his go, walking back a step, Kai used the opening to throw a punch.
"GAAAAH!" He shouted when a swift and sharp pain filled his chest, Moth pulled her hand back from the gaping hole in the middle of his plastron that now leaked blood. Kai struggled to catch his breath but found he could not longer do it, with the little life he he he looked at her hand; clench in it was a still-beating heart.
"That's the..." Blood filled Kai's mouth and he fell over, life rapidly leaving him.
"Five-finger death punch." Moth finished for him, that was the last thing Kai ever heard, he closed his eyes and felt his soul lift.
...But not before feeling as though he was being carried with a sort of care he was not used to, he opened his eyes one last time and looked at the horizon, the last thing he saw in life was the moon.
Michaelangelo helped his sister up after she fell over, she was clutching the middle of her chest, her entire body contorted in pain "Are you alright?" He asked in panic, wondering if this had something to do with her being shot awhile back.
"No!" Venus shouted "This is spiritual... It's Moth! There's trauma, a lot of it! Something..." Venus's eyes rolled to the back of her head and she fainted, her brother desperately tried to revive her.
"Venus! Venus! Wake up!" He demanded, it was all he could do. While he was proficient with chi and meditation, he could not project himself astrally into Venus's mind like she she could do, he always needed her help to do it by following the chi path Venus left behind. Raphael, Moth's domesticated coyote whimpered looking over at his alpha's family, not understanding anything except the emotion and fear-scent rolling off of them.
Venus woke up "Mikey.." She groaned "Moth is coming... She won't ever be the same, ever, there's shattering..." She babbled.
Concerned, Michelangelo set her on the couch of the Lair hoping Venus could catch her breath and hopefully make sense.
He heard someone coming into the Lair and knew it was Moth by the footstep pattern, he turned to greet her but all words left his mouth.
Tears dripping down her scarred face and blood spattered in various spots on her body, but what held Michelangelo's attention the most was the body his daughter carried; a bloody and very dead Oroku Kai with a gaping hole in his plastron lay in his half-sisters arms, his dead eyes were still just barely opened but glazed over lifelessly. Yet Moth's eyes were even more dead.
"Father." Moth, emotionless, said "I did it, I killed the curse. Are you proud I did what you wanted me to?"
Master Michelangelo remained speechless.
So Kai's dead... Moth killed him...
I remember someone telling me that the five finger death punch (no relation to the band) was a martial arts move to position your fingers in a certain way to instantly pull the heart right out of someones chest. Pretty brutal. In this story Michelangelo taught Moth that move several months prior to the beginning of the story, but she was taught to only use it if it was absolutely necessary and if she had no other way og killing her enemy.
