Chapter 7

The next morning, Lucy and Kisa went to guild early to eat breakfast.

"Good Morning Lucy, Kisa!" Mira greeted as the two approached the bar.

"Good Morning Mira! I'll have the usual" Lucy waved at Mira.

"Good Morning Mira." Kisa bowed down her head before sitting down at the bar stool beside Lucy.

"You two are here early. What about you Kisa?" Mira said while looking at Kisa with a warm smile.

"I-I don't know what to get, honestly." Kisa shyly answered.

Mira just smiled and started to go to the kitchen, but before completely disappearing to the next room, she said, "The special, then."

Kisa looked at Lucy, but the latter just gave her a reassuring smile, "That's what I always get. It's the best, don't worry."

When Mira came back with their meal, Lucy started speaking, "I'm going to help Kisa find a place to stay. I'll introduce her to the others when we come back."

"Ah, that's why you're early." Mira said having realized the answer to her earlier statement. She then looked at Kisa, "You know, Kisa, if you want a place near here, but don't mind the price, then you should check out Fairy Hills."

Kisa looked up from her plate to Mira, "Fairy Hills?"

"Yes, it's the dorm exclusive for the female guild members. It's just on the top of the hill beside the guild." Mira said pointing to the direction of the place, "But, of course, it's an all-women dorm, so you can't have Gray in there." Mira said while wiggling her eyebrows at Kisa.

At this, Lucy choked on her food which caused her to have a coughing fit.

"Oh my, Lucy. You should really eat your food slowly." Mira said handing Lucy a glass of water while Kisa was patting Lucy's back.

"That's not it, Mira!" Lucy yelled when her coughing stopped, "to say things like that to Kisa, please remember she's still a teenager."

"Oh, but the fiery heart of the youth of today, who knows what they are capable of!" Mira said in a sing-song voice while her hands were cupping her blushing face, lost in her own fantasy.

Lucy, pulled Kisa away from the bar and out of the guild, "Yeah, not a very good thing to suggest." Lucy muttered as they walked away from the bar. Kisa just nodded to Mira's direction thanking her for the food.

"But it's a good option to try Fairy Hills, you can be close with the women in our guild!" Lucy said as she guided Kisa towards the direction of Fairy Hills.

"Lucy, if it's for the women of the guild, then why aren't you staying there?"

Lucy pouted at this and answered, "Well, I kind of got to know about it months after I got my apartment. And besides, the rent there is freakishly high!"

Kisa just nodded in understanding.

"You wouldn't mind its worth, won't you?" Lucy asked.

"Well, as long as it is not unreasonably priced, I don't see why not let myself get in with the others from our guild." Kisa smiled at Lucy and held her hand.

They were like this until they came to Fairy Hills, where they were greeted by Erza. It was lucky for Kisa that there was an empty room at the end of the second floor hallway right next to Wendy's. She took the room and paid for the first month. After that, she sent a letter to her brother to tell him of her new home and the experiences she had so far. She asked how everybody was doing, about Mr. Yuki, the business, and finally if Kaito was there with them.

Since she still has no things with her, Lucy offered to let her stay again for one night at her apartment. They went back to the guild so Lucy could introduce everyone to Kisa.

It was a little after lunch that they got to the guild. As expected, there was a fight going on and a lot of things were being thrown. Lucy covered Kisa's head as they crossed the guild heading to bar where she saw Erza.

"Erza, I think it's time to introduce Kisa now." Lucy whispered. She knew she couldn't get this lot to stop fighting long enough to let her introduce Kisa to them, but Erza can! She thought this as she waited for Erza to respond.

"I agree, but let's wait a little longer, Master would be arriving soon." Erza didn't look up as she was eating this new flavor cake Mira baked just this morning.

A few minutes after, the brawling was halted when the Master's voice was heard from the guild doors.

"Master!" Everybody exclaimed greeting the old man as he entered.

He continued until he was at the bar beside Mira. The fight from earlier ceased down into trash talking with occasional throwing of objects.

Mira whispered to Master about the newcomer.

Kisa looked in awe at the Master, Wow! He is the great Macarov of Fairy Tail.

After a nod of understanding, the Master stood on the bar table and gathered everyone's attention. When nobody seems to listen to him, Erza stood up from her chair and – loudly – cleared her throat. At this, all the members faced the bar, afraid that a replay of yesterday would happen.

"Everyone! I am pleased to announce that after two years since we came back, I have yet another brat to call my child." He announced as he walked to Kisa, then he said softly for only her to hear, "Welcome my new child. I hope you would love this family, as we would love you!" Then he shouted for everyone to hear, "Treat Kisa as your sister and protect her as you protect your family for she is, from now on, family!"

Kisa was trying so hard to fight back the tears from falling. What Master said, all of it was so heartfelt; he said those words with love even for her who was new.

"Thank you Master! Everyone, I'll do my best." She said as she bowed her head towards everyone.

Some guild members clapped and cheered. "This calls for a celebration!" One member shouted somewhere at the back and the guild roared with approval.

Lucy pulled Kisa's arm as they went around, all the while introducing Kisa to everyone. Kisa was overjoyed as she got to meet a new face after another.

First Quest…

"So, have you decided already?" Lucy asked from the bar behind Kisa.

"I never thought it would be this hard to choose; after all its my first!" Kisa said frustrated as she went over the posted requests a third time.

"Kisa, if you want you can join me and Charle on our job." Wendy offered as she walked closer to Kisa, "that way, I can also teach you the basics."

"Oh no, Wendy, I might burden you if you do that – like a trainer explaining every detail to me." Kisa shyly answered.

"No worries, Kisa, I was fairly new to the guild before the whole Tenrou incident. I still freshly remember my own first job!" Wendy smiled encouragingly at Kisa. She looked over to Charle to ask her what she thinks.

"Don't worry; I don't sense anything bad about this mission. It should be easy; it's just an escort mission from Magnolia to Olivia City two towns north of us." Charle said without even lifting her head from the tea she was drinking.

"That's right – it's better to have your first request with other members. Then, when you learn the ropes, you can finally go on your first ever solo mission!" Mira said from behind the bar as she served the customers their meals.

Kisa smiled heartily at Wendy and Charle, "Alright! I'll do my best Wendy!"

Master's Office…

"What's bothering you, Erza?" Master asked, as soon as he decided it was safe for them to talk without their little dragons hearing.

"Master, the morning of the day we set out to return to the guild, Kisa's brother and caretaker discussed with me important information about her." Erza started.

The mission…

"Ehh? You mean Hibiki-san from Blue Pegasus?" Wendy gasped.

The three of them were walking towards the client's house, when Wendy started asking a little more about Kisa's life.

"Yup! That's the one!" Kisa beamed.

"How could you know each other? Well, I guess your family would know a number of mages throughout the years." Wendy inquired.

"Well, my older brother knew Hibiki-nii even before he joined a guild." Kisa started as if she were part of that past. "They knew each other even before I was born, actually; and they've been best friends forever. That's why I kind of took him as my other older brother." Kisa finished explaining with a big grin on her face.

"Then, why didn't he help you when you got kidnapped?" Charle added, which made Wendy look at her like she was about to scold the Exceed.

Kisa's grin faded, "Don't blame him; he is a mage, but he has his own life, too. Believe me, he offered multiple times that he arrange a schedule for his mage friends and him to guard me; but, I refused. We don't want to be that big of burden on him and his guild. Besides, he was on a mission the last time it happened. He hadn't come back yet, so I doubt he knows it happened, again. My brother got a message from Master Bob, he offered help, but, Lucy's team came before Blue Pegasus could send a team. That's what Yuki-san told me."

"I suppose that makes sense." Charle agreed.

"Yeah, and Hibiki had already helped me out so much these past years. He had been my magic teacher!" Kisa said gleefully.

"Wow! I didn't know Hibiki-san could teach magic." Wendy said in awe.

"Well, that's because he only flirts with ladies when we see him" Charle said.

"That's my Hibiki-nii." Kisa said giggling. "He is actually an effective teacher, especially when he uses his magic."

"That's right! He has archive magic." Wendy exclaimed.

"But, since last year he visited rarely; only when there are occasions, or when we personally go see him. I'm not sure why." Kisa said, her glee from earlier disappearing.

"Oh Kisa, maybe he's just busy." Wendy said trying to cheer up her new friend.

Back at the guild…

"Master Bob's Hibiki-san?" Master inquired, just to make sure.

"Affirmative. They even showed me Master Bob's letter saying Hibiki and the trimens are on a three-month long quest and wouldn't be back until next week. Master Bob had offered help, but the letter came a bit late. They received it that exact morning, you see." Erza explained.

"And?"

"They haven't informed Kisa yet, but last year, Hibiki brought other mages to the Sonomi's. When they were on their way back, the others magically lost memories of being there. Hibiki said that there were unclear moments for him, but he did not lose his entire memory of the family. He suspects that his power is nullifying the magic which causes the others to forget." Erza stopped to check if Master could still follow.

Master just nodded, so she proceeded with her narration.

"Hibiki came back alone after a month and tried to search for the caster. He told them that it was an old man, with a guild emblem he didn't recognize – so he suspected it as an illegal guild. They battled, but as old as the man was, he was good at escaping; perhaps, it was his magic. He relayed his encounter to Touya-san and Yuki-san. They concluded that someone was erasing the memories of people coming in and out of their property. The old man was probably the reason Gray forgot, as well. They thought Hibiki already scared the old man away. But it turned out he only raised an apprentice to continue his job."

"That was the boy you met in the forest, I presume?" Master said, contemplating what Erza had reported.

"That is correct."

"You're saying this, because?"

"They believe, which I consider, too, that the threat to Kisa's safety will not end even if she's in Fairy Tail."

"I guessed as much, so what do you propose?" Master asked.

"The older Sonomi offered to pay us monthly if we keep her secure."

"That would be hard to explain to the others." Master was now playing with his wind pipe.

"I knew that, Kisa is a Fairy Tail member now."

"She's family, now." Master said after blowing a circle of smoke in the air.

"Yes, and we protect family, but, doing that to her would not be good for her as a mage. I didn't accept his offer; but, I proposed another plan."

Master raised his right brow at this.

"We could continue her magic training. That way, she would never be without Fairy Tail mages, at the same time, she could improve her magic skills. When she actually is alone, she has more chance to defend herself."

"And who do you propose would train her?"

"I will."

"How about missions?"

"For the time being, I wouldn't take any; until I – or she – convince other mages to teach her. Maybe take missions with her and the others." Erza answered.

"We could always ask Hibiki. He seemed close enough to the family." Master suggested.

"I'll consider that; but, if he brings along I-Ichiya, I would definitely throw them out!" Erza cringed at Ichiya's name.

"Then, I'll leave this to you, Erza."

"I will not fail you, Master." Erza said as she turned to take her leave.
