Broken Promise
Chapter 15
- I have known both of you since some time ago and I never imagined you were sisters! But Cathy, your last name… - said Layla bewildered.
- I use a stage name… - explained Cathy.
- Why you never told me you worked with Layla?! – I asked Cathy.
- You never told me you worked here in Kaleido Stage! – replied Cathy.
- I told you I was a costume designer! – I said.
- And nothing more! – she paused - I told you I was a director! – said Cathy.
She was right, we were more like strangers. We were too busy with our own jobs; we didn't have any contact with each other for some time. During holidays we always rejected our parent's invitation to visit home, because of our duties.
- Cathy, I'm sorry…I have forgotten about you and the rest of the family – I said shyly.
- Me too…We are workaholics! Aren't we? – she said laughing.
- We have made an interesting discovery, but we work to do, right Misses? – interrupted Kalos.
- Right! – we answered.
May seemed too busy with the rehearsal, so I decided to wait until it was over. Mia told me that Layla and Cathy were coaching them, since they considered the show was boring and lacked something.
- Now that I think of it, you two have a very similar temperament! – she said.
- Do you think so? Well, maybe you are right…I have good memories from our childhood, but as teenagers, we grew up in different places…
- Did your parents got divorced or something?
- No, things happened… - I said avoiding eye contact.
- It's okay! – she said smiling – …I really admire her way of directing!
Cathy scolded May and Leon because of their lifeless acting. But she was right, it was a love story…and they were far from looking like lovers. May seemed very mad at what Cathy was saying. But Cathy was not afraid of saying anything to her or to Leon.
That's my sister!
Unexpectedly, Sora entered the stage. Cathy saw her and tried to persuade her to try Juliet's role once, just for the rehearsal. May seemed pleased with that, and was waiting for Sora to accept.
But against what we were all expecting, Sora rejected the chance. May was fuming or devastated? ; she ran towards Sora, slapped her and called her a coward. Subsequently, she got away crying.
- I can't believe it! That was incredible! – I said clapping.
Mia looked at me as if I was crazy.
- Come on! It was amazing – I was having so much fun.
Layla critiqued Sora's reaction. She told her that being wimpy only hurt May deeply. Well, she didn't use the word "wimpy". Layla asked me to leave May alone for a while and I understood her petition.
The rest of the day, I conversed with Cathy to get updates about our current life events. I was in a very good mood after chatting with her. After all, we were sisters. And no matter what…we were always going to be there for each other when needed.
That night, I arrived late to the dorms. However, May wasn't in the room. I decided to go to bed before she could reach the room. I must have been tired, since I fell asleep hastily.
After midnight, I woke up abruptly. The room was dim, but I was able to see May's figure beside the window.
- Leon wants Sora as his partner, I knew it…But, who's Sophie? – she asked to herself.
Sophie?
I pretended I never woke up and fell asleep again.
I noticed Leon was absent, lost in thoughts. He didn't touch his breakfast, while I was already half way into it.
- I'll take that! – I said invading his dish.
- I did something hideous.
- Now what?
- Just like an insane.
- What happened?!
- But now I think I know it.
- Leon! – I slapped him – What are you talking about?
- I'm sorry Rogue.
- Now, tell me what happened – I commanded.
- Last night, I searched Sora. When I found her, she was on the road waving good bye to the rest of the staff. When they were gone, I approached to her. She was surprised to see me there. I asked her what was going on, if supposedly she wanted to be my partner. She told me that we had taken separate ways and she told me about her dream. So, I directly asked her to become my partner.
- You did that?! You are a creep! And what did she replied?
- Nothing. She seemed frightened and started stepping back and…
- I knew I was not the only who would react like that! You really are a weirdo!
- I was like possessed…I grabbed her arms, but she was scared. She began to fight to break free and when she succeeded she ran into the road…a car was getting by and… - he began trembling - it was like…it was like…it was the same as…
- Calm down Leon, its okay – I said as I took his hand.
- So I chased her, to save her…and we rolled off the road. I'm not sure about what I said to her. But, I remember calling her Sophie…
- Was May there?
- Maybe, I'm not sure…But, when she said "I'm Sora", I was taken back to reality. After all, I knew she was the one, you agree with that, right?
- I told you that before! – I took a bite of bread - Poor Sora! She must be still scared or at least confused.
- Probably…
- Leon, you need to behave! – I said threatening him with a butter knife.
- A butter knife? Really?
- Shut up! Do you prefer the gun?
- No, thanks.
- So, what are you going to do now?
- I'm not sure…I'm not even sure if now I'll be able to manage it.
- You must!
The show seemed to be going "normal", actually I was getting bored of the "normal" shows. I took a peek at the stage and unexpectedly…
Leon dragged Sora into the stage when she was doing her staff job, the petals rain. Suddenly all the trapezes on the stage appeared. Sora was trying to escape, but Leon was not willing to let her go.
- That weirdo! I told him to behave!
The audience looked confused. Sora must have noticed that, since she began to perform. Then, I appeared as if May and Sora were fighting for Leon. After another incredible show of skills, Sora was escaping again. But, she couldn't reach the trapeze, she was falling. Suddenly, Leon caught her arm and lifted her. Probably some try of the "Angel's Maneuver", she landed safely with him. Leon and Sora did have chemistry. They were a perfect couple.
A perfect…couple?
After that, Sora was able to escape. But mindlessly, Leon chased her without grabbing any trapeze.
He was falling to the ground. The lights went off.
Leon was sent to the hospital, he need to stay there 2 or 3 weeks. Kaleido Stage had to close its doors.
- We will have too much free time! – I said.
- I think Sophie was the only woman who could be his partner….probably Sora is like her! And that's why Leon wants her as his partner! But, who's Sophie? – asked May.
She was definitely talking to herself, so I decided to remain silent.
- Maybe I should try to be like her! Sora is so dumb…what could they have in common? She is dumb too? – said May.
- Stop it!
- Huh? Are you okay?
- I'm sleeping, good night!
The next day I went to the hospital to see Leon. He was sleeping.
- I came all the damn way here and you are f*cking sleeping! I will not come again!
As if he heard my words, he woke up.
- My head… – he said with pain.
- Finally! – I exclaimed clapping.
- So, that non sense screaming was you.
- I was not screaming non sense! And where are your manners? Shouldn't you say "Hi, Rogue…thank you for coming all the way here, I'm glad to see you!"? Moron!
- "I wish someday you fall from the trapeze and die" – he said emulating my voice - Are you angry because I'm not dead?
- You think you are funny? Idiot!
- Cool it Rogue! – he said laughing.
- What were you thinking? "Hi, I'm Leon Oswald and welcome to Jackass"? *
He laughed hard.
- This is not funny! I'm leaving – I said approaching to the door.
- No! Stay please…I'm delighted to see you, thanks for coming…
- See how we can all be civilized people?
- Practice what you preach…
- Is the last time I care about you! – I said irritated.
- Rogue…sorry…I'm just teasing you.
- Whatever.
- Sit here – he said pointing to his side - I'll tell you what happened.
Leon was really damaged, he was seeing Sophie in Sora and he couldn't control himself anymore. Just as he said before, he was like possessed…or in trance. He was totally lost and similar events could happen ahead.
- I told you to behave! But it's hopeless! – I said.
- I must keep my promise…and complete that pending dream…
- I know you can…
- And you too… - he said.

So, we go back to the short chapters! I think I was a little bit delayed with the update...but I had to study for the JLPT
I think the events on this time of the series were very important, so I had to include them. Not a lot of things happen here haha just development in the character's relationships.
I never thought I could bring the story this further! And there are more chapters ahead! I hope nobody gets bored hahaha

Oh, I said that, because I began to notice that the story was revolving just around Rogue, May and Leon haha and I have known that many people don't like May or Leon (if we are not talking about a LeonxSora fic, because there, everyone loves him hahaah) But, I don't worry about it. Is just a thought that came to my mind (:
