Hello!
Another chapter? Already? But it hasn't even been a month yet!
Sorry it took a little while, but it's here. Just trying to make up for long periods with nothing. And finish by the end of October, which might or might not happen. I'm still trying for it, but the month's almost over already, and we've still got a few chapters to go.
Please remember to review, guys. I'm sad to say that although this story has at least a thousand more views (which is AMAZING, by the way!) than my other story, Sparks Among the Ashes, it still has fewer reviews. Which kind of makes me want to work on the other story instead, especially since this one is giving me issues.
On that note, if you have any ideas for plot, please send them to me. My outline gets very contrary to what I've already written and posted at this point and the ending is kind of thrown together. I could use a little help, if you've got any ideas. Thanks!
And yes, I know it's getting trite and foolish and silly and short - especially short. I apologize, but I can't do any better at the moment, and it was already hard working with two purely visual canons. If you'd like to re-write the story or use this idea, go ahead.
I do not own Hanna is Not a Boy's Name or Danny Phantom.
Chapter 12 - Saved by the Books
Danny walks onto the front lawn of Casper High on Wednesday only to see Sam and Tucker walking towards him at a very fast pace - almost running, but not quite. Danny's certain it means bad news, but before he can do anything, Sam and Tucker each grab one of his arms and drag him behind a large bush.
"What are you guys doing?" he asks.
"Warning you," Sam says. "Remember the paranormal investigators?"
"How could I forget?" Danny asks.
"Well, they're right at the front door, questioning people about Phantom," Sam says.
Danny peeks over the top of the bush. Sure enough, there are Hanna and his friends, standing at the front door. A crowd of students jostle to get in.
"We figured it'd be better if they didn't get to look at you too closely," Tucker says. "After all, you and Phantom look a lot alike."
"Thanks," Danny says, watching Hanna eye the small group of students who have apparently passed his inspection and made it inside.
"Why are they scrutinizing people so closely?" he asks.
"We think they've figured out Phantom is a student at the school," Tucker says.
"They're sure determined," Sam says. "Maybe you'd better go in the back door, Danny."
"But if they're this serious about finding Phantom, won't they have people on all the doors?" Danny asks.
"The very back door," Sam says, shooting him a look. Danny thinks for a moment.
"Oh. Ohhh," he says.
"Took you long enough," Tucker says.
"Do you really think it would be a good idea to use my ghost powers while they're here?" Danny asks, keeping his voice low so no one will overhear.
"Do you think it would be a good idea to give them a closeup?" Sam retorts. "I'm sure they know what Phantom looks like, and they've been scrutinizing everyone."
"You're right, but there's no guarantee that phasing inside will solve any of our problems," Danny says. "What if they come inside after classes start and notice a student that they didn't see come in? Wouldn't that be a bigger tip-off?"
The group's discussion is interrupted by the sudden outbreak of noise coming from the direction of the school.
"1984! Just what do you think you're doing?" someone shouts. It's a voice all three know well - almost too well.
Danny, Sam, and Tucker peer over the top of the bush. It seems Mr. Lancer has arrived at Casper High, and he's not happy about the ghost hunters blocking the front door. Although from the bushes, the three friends can't hear more than the occasional book title being shouted, they can tell that the investigators are outmatched.
It takes Mr. Lancer less than ten minutes to get Hanna and the rest of the paranormal investigators away from the door. A cheer goes up from the students who have been waiting outside as they rush into the school.
Danny looks at his friends.
"Come on," Sam says, making her way out from behind the bush. "Let's go in with the rest of the horde. If they're still watching, we'll attract less attention."
Still, Mr. Lancer gives them a look as they enter the school.
"Hurry up, people," he says. "It's almost time for first period."
Aaand Mr. Lancer saves the day. Pure random, but good for Danny. We'll most likely get back to bigger things with the next chapter ;) Don't forget to review. Reviews are what keep me writing this story, and they're always nice to read :)
