Candy King

True love is like a ghost, everyone talks about it, but few have actually seen it.

October 31, 2018

"It's a boy!" Ben and Piper chorused together through the phone, so loud Patricia had to bring the phone away from her ear.

"That's great you guys!" She finally responded once the ringing in her ears had subsided.

"Isn't it?" Piper gushed. "We think we're going to name him William, but call him Willy for short. What do you think?"

"It's cute," Patricia admitted, although she knew it would end up being Piper's way of getting her parent's approval.

She knew how Piper's brain worked: she didn't want to name the baby after one parent, so she found a way to name it after both. Come on, William, it was literally in their last name, well Piper's maiden name anyways.

If it were 3 months earlier, she probably would have pointed it out, how Piper was just trying to impress her parents, (even though she couldn't possibly be on better terms with them).

But it wasn't, and these days she'd been in too much of a good mood to let anything ruin that, even Piper. Ever since they'd gotten back together, her and Eddie had been noticeably happier. Being apart had been a reminder of their senior year, and why they kept getting back together in the first place. They'd been through too much, and regardless of what will happen to them in the future, they were almost positive they would always end up back in each other's arms.

"Oh yeah one more thing," Piper said, gaining Patricia's attention back. "What are you and Eddie's holiday plans? I think we should do Christmas at our parents', unless you'd rather have them all to yoursel-"

"No way!" Patricia cut Piper off, a little too quickly. There was just no way she was going to have Christmas with her parents without Piper to take the attention off her. Sure, when she was little she had wanted the attention, but now she would do anything to have that attention off of her, especially because her parents still didn't really approve of Eddie that much. "I mean, we should spend Christmas together!" She said, trying to cover up.

"I know, I'm kidding," Piper laughed, "but I'm glad you feel so strongly about seeing us again for Christmas!"

Patricia smirked, if only she knew. "Well I've got to go, Eddie will be home any minute, Bye!" She said quickly, hanging up just as she heard the jingle of the lock on the door.

"Honey I'm home!" Eddie chimed as he stepped through the door, shopping bag in hand.

"What took you so long, doofus?" She asked as she walked over to greet him, pecking him on the lips.

"I stopped by the store to-" Eddie started, but before he could finish, Patricia was already trying to snatch the bag out of his hand. He moved it away quickly though, using his other hand to stop hers from reaching for it again, despite her angry glare. "Its gonna cost you..." He smirked.

"Ugh," she scoffed, planting a kiss on his lips anyway, just long enough for him to lower the bag, before successfully snatching it away.

She opened it up to reveal a Halloween cop costume, specifically a tight black dress, fishnet tights, and plastic handcuffs and gun in the belt.

"Don't think this is going to fit you, Weasel," she smirked, causing Eddie to laugh. "But really what is this for?" She asked with more force.

"You, I thought it was obvious," he smirked right back.

"And how exactly were you planning on making me wear this to that Halloween party tonight?"

Eddie shrugged. "You like black and fishnets so..."

She scoffed. "I've never worn a costume to a Halloween party and you start by bringing me half of one?"

"It's a full costume Yacker," he chuckled, but she had already walked away. "I thought it would be funny!" He called after her, and he actually did, too. She'd been a lot more welcoming with his jokes, specifically the suggestive ones, and well, he just figured this would be another. Plus he wanted to show her off tonight, hopefully as his wife.

The only thing was, the location of the ring's hiding spot had slipped his mind.

Since Patricia had gone back to watching TV, he snuck into the bedroom to try and find it. He rummaged through the drawers of their dresser, the backpack it had been in before, under the bed, and even in the bathroom, but it was nowhere to be found. He was sifting frantically through his sock drawer once more, completely worked up over the fact that he'd lost the ring, when Patricia came in.

She eyed him carefully as he turned around to face her, wary smile on his face. "Looking for something?"

"Yeah, just a pair of socks," he said forcing a laugh, holding up a pair for proof before closing the drawer behind him.

"Right..." Patricia nodded slowly. "Anyway, I came to tell you that I'll wear that costume tonight..." She said causing him to smirk. "If," she started again, wiping that smirk away, "I get to pick your costume."

It was her turn to smirk as she watched Eddie curse under his breath. He knew he had gotten himself into some real trouble now. She had been thinking, while he was searching, and she knew exactly how to get him back for just expecting her to wear some showy costume.

Eddie looked between her and the bag in her hands. He knew she already had some kind of plan up her sleeve... but he really wanted to see her in that costume. "Alright... Fine, but you know you only have less than an hour..."

"Which is why I'm leaving now," she smirked before walking off with a little wave.

Eddie flopped down on their bed. What had he gotten himself into?

Patricia quickly darted to the men's costume section upon entering Party City. She scanned the rows of costumes. Superhero's were too obvious, and definitely would boost Eddie's ego, so those were a no. She came across a 50's biker costume as well, and she had to admit, it would make her boyfriend look even more irresistible, but she didn't want other girls seeing that too.

She decided the costume she picked couldn't make him look good. It had to be embarrassing, so embarrassing that he would regret ever buying her costume in the first place. She realized she was running out if time, and was about to just pick a pirate costume because there was nothing else...

But as she scanned the bottom row one last time, she found the perfect, most embarrassing costume she could imagine.

Eddie grumbled and tightened his grip on Patricia's waist as they wandered the party. Wolf whistles erupted, obviously at Patricia, and laughs chorused as well, towards Eddie.

"What's wrong Weasel? Is that crown giving you a headache?" She smirked as she stared at her boyfriend. His face was almost hidden by the white wig and beard stuck on his head. She had to hold in her laugh at that, and the turquoise bottoms that flared at the bottom while he held a gold trident in the hand that wasn't suffocating her waist.

"Nope, King Trident is perfectly fine," he fake smiled. As soon as she had gotten home and showed it to him, he had decided there was no way he would ever put it on and wear it in public.

But when she put hers on, he didn't even care anymore, he figured anything was worth it, until he got to the party and realized he wasn't the only one who would be staring.

"No, King Trident is being a grouch. Angry I beat you at your own game?"

Eddie scoffed. "I still get to see you in that costume, so I win," he said trying to convince himself more than her, as yet another guy passed by, eyes lingering on the cop's curves for too long. Eddie's glare could've burned through the back of his head if Patricia hadn't stolen his attention again.

"Sure," she smirked, turning herself around to face him. "So you wouldn't mind dancing then?"

"No, but you would so-"

"Oh no, I'd love to dance!" She faked as she got ready to pull him out to the center of everyone's attention.

Instead, he pulled her the other way, into the back where he was, for the first time tonight, out of the spotlight. "Alright, alright, you win," he admitted, "Can we get out of here?"

"Why?" Patricia asked, faking innocence. "Is there something else you'd rather do?" She whispered as she brought her face closer to his.

Eddie moved his fake beard out of the way and quickly captured her lips with his. "You know there always is," he smirked, pulling her even closer.

In response, she wrapped her arms around his neck and let their lips connect again, slowly at first, but it soon got heated. She didn't know why she was so attracted to him when he was wearing that silly costume, it must've been the fact that his torso was completely exposed. His toned arms and abs pressed against her always seemed to have that effect.

Eddie was finally able to separate himself from her, for only a few seconds. "So, can we go now?"

Patricia looked around, and thought for a moment. "10 more minutes," she smirked, pulling him back over towards everyone else before he could consume his embarrassment in candy. "I wanna enjoy this as long as I can."

Alright, before you tell me this sounds like "An Anubis Halloween," by kdanee2011, know that I asked first! When I read her one-shot, I told her I had thought of the costume swap thing for this story, and she insisted that I go through with it.

Well, we're 10/12 done! I actually didn't like this one that much, it was basically just a filler, so sorry if you didn't like it either! But I can promise that the next two will be better, and filled with lots of 'family fun.'

Next stop: Ms. Miller's for Thanksgiving :)
