Sorry for the long wait again. It's getting really hard to find time to write these stories anymore. But don't worry I'm not giving up. I'm trying to keep to at least one update a week for every story. Meaning this and Different. If I for some reason can't please don't hold it against me I'm really trying. It's just that my priorities are my originals right now. But like I said I'm making sure I don't stop posting this. Love the stories too much to do that. Plus I have you guys to think about so I'll keep going. Well anyway here you go. Hope you like it.
"They're coming back." Someone yelled a warning and just like that everyone tensed and the room went silent for a second before all hell broke loose as everyone got ready for the battle. This one worse than the last.
There were children crying and lovers begging not to go. Family's trying to keep each other safe. Last confessions of love… Goodbyes… Everything was buzzing with quickly whispered goodbyes because we all knew that many of us won't make it. We all knew that this is a long shot. But we also couldn't just stand by and not fight. We all needed to fight.
I felt Magnus increase his hold on me and I sighed as I leaned more onto him one last time. Hoping that everything will go well. That all of us will be alive after this. Because hope was all that we had right now. Hope was everything right now.
"Darling-" He started whispering into my ear but was cut off when Maryse suddenly appeared in front of us. Izzy, Jace, Clary, Simon and Max right behind her.
I straightened up and stepped close to her and with that out of Magnus's embrace but still kept one hand firmly in his.
"Alexander." She whispered with eyes soft before pulling me in a surprise hug. She hasn't hugged me in so long I ended up just standing there shocked before she pulled away again. "Make sure you survive this ok. I don't want any of my children to die, ok?"
I nodded still in a kind of a shocked daze. And what she did next definitely didn't help me get over it.
"You too Magnus." She looked at him over my shoulder. "None of my family will die today."
And after that she walked away without another word with her hand holding Max's as she dragged him to the part of the room where all of the children were gathering and will be guarded and taken care of by the ones that can't go into battle for one reason or the other.
Leaving us all behind with wide eyes as we watched her go.
"Well look at that." Jace was the first to speak up. "She accepted you fully." He smiled at me. "Now all we have to do is make sure we all survive what is to come."
"Yeah." I looked down at the floor and felt Magnus squeeze my hand reassuringly as he stepped closer again.
"It's going to be ok." He whispered into my ear. "We'll all be ok."
I knew he didn't believe it himself. No one believed it by this point. But the fact that he went to reassuring me meant a lot more than anything else right now.
"So Alec what's the plan? We keeping together through this?" Izzy asked after a few seconds of tense silence.
I took one last deep breath before going into full battle mode. Knowing that I'm the older here so it's on me to be the leader right now. "Yeah it would be best if we watch each other's back. If we separate we'll be just getting into more trouble and the chances of surviving this will be slimmer then they already are."
"Ok then that's what we'll do." Jace agreed.
My eyes landed on Clary who looked like she wanted to say something but at the same time wasn't sure. Her eyes moving up to look at me before looking back down at her hands with furrowed eyebrows.
"Clary what is it?" I asked feeling that I need to make sure everyone is alright and ready before we go outside. Because the fact that she's still here means that she's fighting too. And even though I don't like that fact considering that she hasn't been training for that long its her choice to stay. If she wants to fight it's not on me to stop her. Not when we need everyone available right now.
"There's a rune that can help us." She said looking straight at me. "But only you and Magnus can use it."
"Amm Clary runes can't go on Downworlders." Izzy said looking agitated.
"Angelic runes don't. But this one is different. " She still only looked at me as she talked. "This one has to go on a Downworlder. It's a binding rune that binds a power of a Shadowhunter and a Downworlder. It's going to give us an edge in the fight. But only if you want to."
I looked at her. My gaze not wavering even for a second. She looked sure of what she's talking about. And if it's really going to give us an edge…
Magnus answered before I could. "We're in. Any help is welcome. And if it really does what you say it does its going to be one hell of a help."
I nodded next to him. "Show me the rune."
Did you like it? Tell me what you think.
Yes short again I know. I just really don't feel like writing longer chapters right now. But you don't mind too much don't you. I hope not. At least shorter chapters mean longer story if anything. So that's kind of good. But you know sorry for it being this short. And the others too. And the next one probably too. But anyway I need 15 reviews for you to get the next one. And the next one will hopefully be done faster than this one. At least I'll try to make it faster.
So review my lovelies.
