Update time! I hope ya'll like this chapter. It'll be … interesting ;-)

Benny tossed and turned in bed, trying to sleep.

He wasn't so lucky though.

Many different thoughts had been running around in his thoughts, tormenting him.

They all mainly consisted of Ethan.

Benny had recently learned the reason behind their failed friendship, and he was going to try to mend what had been broken between them, but Ethan had just made things even more complicated for the two teens.

He had kissed Benny.

Benny was still trying to figure out why though. He had heard the rumors of course, of Ethan being into guys as much as he was girls, so Benny wasn't completely surprised, but he was extremely confused.

He had thought that Lucas and Ethan were together… so why had he kissed him? It was plain to everyone they went to school with how much Lucas liked Ethan; Benny had tried to ignore it, but then Lucas had confirmed his feelings for Ethan when Benny had visited him.

So what the hell was going on in Ethan's brain then?

Benny, although confused, did know one thing.

He still wanted his best friend back.

And with that thought, Benny closed his eyes and drifted off.

The next morning, Ethan drove straight to Lucas's house; said boy was supposed to be home, and Ethan was his ride to school. Ethan drummed his fingers on the steering wheel as he thought about what happened last night.

Benny wanted to be his friend again; that was the easy part.

But Ethan… Ethan had done like Lucas had suggested.

He had kissed Benny.

And, although he would never admit this to anyone but himself…

He had liked it.

But he was going to put a stop to those thoughts immediately.

He and Benny could work towards being friends again, but that was all.

Ethan put on a smile as Lucas got in the car, his arm in a sling. Lucas gave a small smile back as the two drove off to school in silence. As they pulled into the parking lot, Ethan took a deep breath.

"What happened?" Lucas asked, making Ethan shake his head.

"You know me too well."

"That's what best friends do." Ethan nodded and smiled at Lucas, his eyes sad.

"I kissed him. He came by to make amends, and I kissed him."

"And you liked it."

"No, I didn't." Ethan must have sounded convincing, because Lucas looked shocked.

"What?"

"I don't like him Luc. I like you." Lucas looked shocked, but pleased. "Will you be my boyfriend?"

"…Yes," Lucas said, still shocked, making Ethan grin as he leaned over to kiss him before they got out and headed into the school, hand in hand.

Benny walked in, still yawning and rubbing his eyes, when he stopped, mouth still open.

Ethan and Lucas were… holding hands.

Benny shook his head and blinked furiously, hoping he was imagining it.

But no, he wasn't.

He was surprised; Ethan had kissed him, and now… he was dating Lucas?

Benny was more confused than ever. Burying his confusion down though, he made his way towards them.

"Morning," he said, opening his locker and putting his stuff up.

"Good morning," Ethan said stiffly back. Lucas watched this and sighed.

"You two… how can you rebuild a friendship if you'll barely talk to each other?" he asked, making the two dark-haired teens shrug. He sighed and pecked Ethan on the cheek before walking away. Ethan watched him before he turned to Benny, who was staring at him.

"He's right you know," Benny said, closing his locker. "I want to be friends again E."

"I know. It's just…" Ethan shook his head and turned away. "It's gonna take more than want to be like we used to be." Benny watched Ethan walk away and felt a weird twist in his gut.

This would be harder than he thought.

"We have a meeting with the Doc later," Ethan called over his shoulder, making Benny sag in disappointment.

Just what he needed; another person to tell him how much he screwed up.

As he watched Ethan walk away, Benny finally realized something.

This really was all about him.

"So boys, how is everything?" Dr. Bishop asked, glancing at them with a look of indifference. "I've heard you two are attempting to rebuild what you lost."

"How do you know that?" Ethan asked, making her smile at him, although it didn't reach her cold eyes.

"I have my sources Mr. Morgan. Can you tell me how things are going?" Ethan shrugged and sat there, sulking silently. She turned her attention to Benny, who was staring at Ethan. "Benny, do you have something you'd like to say?"

"Doc, can you answer a question for me?"

"I can try."

"Tell me… how can you kiss someone one day, and the next be dating someone else?" Benny's eyes didn't stray from Ethan as he asked this, watching as Ethan's hands balled up under his arms and his jaw clenched.

"Well-" The Doctor began, only to be interrupted by Ethan.

"Maybe said person was confused."

"Uh-huh. Except this type of person… they are never confused. They always know what they want."

"Maybe not this time."

"Maybe they just like someone else, but are trying to distract himself with someone who reminds them of said person."

"Maybe that's a pile of bullshit."

"Boys."

"No it's not. Maybe someone likes a certain someone, and always has, but just went for the next best thing."

"Maybe the first option was a complete asshole so someone had to make due with who they had."

"Maybe someone made a mistake."

"Yeah, they did. Which is why they got replaced."

"I was never replaced E. Lucas couldn't take my place."

"He's my best friend!"

"No he's not. I am," Benny said, eyes haughty as he stared at Ethan. "And you know it. There's no one like me." Benny got up and walked out then. Ethan sat there for a minute before he followed him out.

"You're a jackass!" Ethan called out, making the taller boy turn to him, a smirk on his face.

"Whatever E. Whatever you say."

"Stop calling me that!"

"I will when you answer my question E. Why are you dating him?"

"I like him."

"That's crap." Ethan shoved Benny then, hard, making the taller stumble back. Benny watched him before he pinned him against the lockers; Ethan didn't struggle at the restraint though; instead, he just watched him with dark eyes. "And you know it. Stop dating him."

"You think… you think you can just waltz back into my life and tell me who I can and can't date? Why's it matter to you anyway?"

"Because you kissed me." Ethan was silent as Benny stared at him. People were watching them, murmuring and talking about them. "I've thought about it all night, and it fucked me up. And then you just barge in here with a boyfriend, the one person who I hate more than anything."

"Why do you hate him? He didn't do anything to you!"

"He replaced me. And I've come to reclaim my spot by your side, whether you like it or not." Benny let go of Ethan then and turned, leaving the school at a fast pace. Ethan stood there, feeling eyes on him as he thought about Benny had said.

With a sigh, he followed him out of the school.

Hmm, what could happen now…

There's a couple ways this story could go.

We'll see which way I choose in the next chapter won't we?

Hope ya'll liked it.

See you soon.
