"So you think you can just barge back in my life and tell me what to do huh?" Ethan called out, making Benny turn to face him, eyes burning.

"When it comes to this, yes." Ethan rolled his eyes as he continued to follow Benny to his car.

"Why's it matter if I'm dating Lucas? You wanted us to be friends again, but you're doing a shitty job of it by doing this B." Benny was silent as he looked at Ethan.

"Get in."

"What?"

"Get in. I'm not fighting in the parking lot anymore."

"Benny-"

"I'll bring you back so you can get your car and, ugh, Lucas. Just get in." Ethan rolled his eyes but did like he said; once his door closed, they were off.

Ethan was surprised at where they ended up.

"Wow…" he said softly as the two of them made their way to the small, weather-worn building. "I can't believe it's still standing."

"Yeah," Benny said, hands in his pockets. "This is where I go to think."

"Still?"

"Yeah." Ethan smiled at that; he would be lying if he said the thought of Benny still going to their old clubhouse from when they were younger didn't make his heart beat a little faster. The two made their way into the small building, sitting on the floor, facing each other. "Thanks for coming out here with me."

"Benny, what do you want from me?"

"I want you E," he said, eyes unwavering, "As my friend, maybe more… I just want you in my life."

"I'm so tired of fighting Benny," Ethan said, rubbing his head. "That's all we've been doing for the better part of two years."

"Yeah…"

"And I'm dating Lucas."

"So? He can't replace me E."

"No, he can't," Ethan agreed, shaking his head, "But I still like him."

"Do you?"

"…Yes."

"You hesitated."

"So what? You don't like-"

"But I do E," Benny said, scooting a little closer. "You know we've always had a… weird, connection. I buried all those feelings down but then you kissed me… and they came back."

"Don't do this Benny."

"Ethan."

"No. I can't… I need to go. Take me back to school."

"No." Benny pressed a desperate kiss to Ethan's lips then, pulling the still-shorter teen against him. Ethan tried to resist, but Benny didn't stop; he kept moving his lips against Ethan's unresponsive ones until Ethan finally began to kiss with the same desperation that Benny had. "We shouldn't be doing this," he muttered as they paused for breath.

"Why not?"

"B-because…"Ethan could finish though because Benny began to trail kisses down his neck. "Benny, we… we can't."

"Yes, we can." Ethan shook his head before their lips connected again.

Ethan looked at Benny, who was lying next to him on the ground.

"I can't believe we did that…"

"Well, believe it, because we did."

"I cheated on Lucas."

"So? Dump him; you only dated him because you wanted me anyways." Ethan seethed at this and grabbed his clothes; once he was dressed, he rounded on Benny.

"You're an ass Benny."

"What? Why?"

"Because did you ever stop to think I might have actually liked Lucas? Huh? Cuz, for your information, I do. And you know who I don't like? You."

"What?! E, in case you forgot, we just had sex. You don't do that if you don't like the person."

"We're friends Benny, and this was a mistake. Take me back to school." Benny sat up and looked at him.

"You're serious?"

"Yes. We can be friends again, but nothing else."

"Why not?"

"Because you're still an asshole. I liked the old Benny. Maybe I could grow to like the new one, but I don't right now. So nothing else will come from this. I'm sorry." Benny just rolled his eyes and got dressed.

"Whatever nerd. Let's go."

Ethan saw Lucas waiting outside for him by the time they pulled up. Ethan jumped out of the car and ran to him

"I'm so sorry," he said when he got to him. Lucas shrugged and smiled sadly.

"It's okay… I covered for you in our classes."

"Thanks," he said, kissing his forehead as the two of them made their way to his car. Benny saw them and got out of his.

"Hey Lucas," he called out, strolling to them. Ethan narrowed his eyes and shook his head.

"Don't."

"I think he should know. He deserves to know."

"Know what?" Lucas asked, looking at Ethan, who looked angrily at Benny.

"Do you wanna know what me and your precious boyfriend were doing today?" Benny asked, smirking at Ethan, who looked pissed.

"Benny-"

"We had sex," he told Lucas, who looked at Ethan in shock.

"E… is this…"

"I'm sorry Luc. It just kinda… happened." Lucas took a step back and shook his head.

"Ethan."

"It meant nothing!"

"What?" Benny asked, looking at him in surprise.

"I already told you it was a mistake," he said, glaring at him. "I hate you. I don't know how I thought we could ever be friends." He turned to Lucas, who was watching them. "Lucas, please. It meant nothing to me and I regret it with everything I have."

"Do you still… like me?"

"Of course! Please, this was just a stupid mistake. Please forgive me." Lucas chewed on his lip and nodded. "Thank you," Ethan said, sounding relieved. Lucas smiled and pushed Ethan towards his car.

"I want to have a couple of words with Benny… Wait for me in the car?"

"Sure." Lucas watched as Ethan got in and started the car; when he was sure that he wasn't paying attention to them, he moved close to Benny.

"Stay the fuck away from my boyfriend. Just accept that you've lost Ethan, for good. And you know why? Because he's such denial about his feelings for you that he'll do whatever I ask him to do now. And my first request is going to be for him to stay away from you. So move on Airhead. He's my E now." Benny stared at Lucas, who smiled smugly at him.

"What the fuck?" Lucas just smiled again and turned to get into Ethan's car. Benny watched them drive off, a feeling burning in his stomach as he watched them until he couldn't see them anymore. Turning, he made his way to his car, mind racing.

"Once again, I'm so sorry," Ethan said, cupping Lucas's face. "Do you really forgive me?"

"Of course! But… will you promise me something?"

"Anything."

"Stay away from him. We graduate in a matter of months, and he's nothing but temptation for you."

"He is not! I have no feelings for him."

"Then promise me."

"…I… I promise."

…

"Lucas wouldn't do that," Rory said, arms crossed over his chest; Benny had gone to him in hopes he would listen to him.

"But he did! He's trying to turn Ethan against me!"

"I think you did that all on your own."

"But we were working on fixing it, and now-"

"You sure you're not just jealous?"

"I am, I'll admit it. But I want my friend back, and if you won't help me then I'll do it myself!"

"Sheesh drama queen, calm down… Did Lucas really say that?"

"Yes."

"Well… you did break his arm…"

"Rory!"

"Okay, okay. Let's say he does plan on making Ethan stay away from you. Do you think that'd stop him? Ethan lives to be around you; haven't you noticed? Even when you two stopped being friends, you were still at each other's throats every single day. You and him literally need the other to survive."

"…You think so?"

"Yes."

"…You think he likes me?"

"Yes. Because obviously fucking you didn't stop anything. But here's the problem…"

"Lucas."

"Yep."

"Wait. He's your friend. Why are you helping me?"

"I want a date with a cheerleader," Rory said smugly, making Benny facepalm. "As captain…"

"Done." Rory smiled and then his eyes lit up. "What?"

"Make Ethan jealous. Ethan's trying to convince himself that he doesn't want you. Lucas is being a complete ass, which surprises me… he was also such a great friend… but I guess it's the nice ones you gotta watch out for huh?"

"Rory back on track!"

"Right! Ethan's in denial. If he thinks you're not interested, then he'll realize he likes you."

"You think so?"

"Is my hair blonde?"

"… It's actually kinda brown too."

"Benny!" Benny chuckled and then his eyes lit up. "Wh-what?"

"Maybe what I don't need is a boyfriend… but a best friend." Rory cocked his head and smiled. "Who better to prove to Ethan he needs me then his own friend?"

"Two cheerleaders?"

"I'll see what I can do."

"Deal."
