The story picks up in Mockingjay, while Peeta lies at the hands of President Snow in the Capitol and Katniss is away in District 13. Instead of staying behind while Gale and the others attempt to rescue Peeta, she joins them in search of him.

As long as she burns on, alive, in that arena, he's still holding out for her. Slight Drabble. Gale's POV, just before the Games. "I may never sleep tonight, as long as you're still burning bright."

Why was she doing this? She wants something from me, he finally decided, he just didn't know what. Gale finds it hard to ignore this particular townie. Based loosely on Billy Joel's Uptown Girl

What if Gale had gotten to finish his statement? What if Peeta had died in the arena? How would Panem be changed? Would there still be a rebellion, an ending to the Games? Well, this world is full of what-ifs so it just depends on how you look at it...
