Kicking off, I am beyond sorry for being SUPER late with submitting this chapter. It's by far the longest & during the process of writing it, I experienced a huge writers' block that I was afraid was going to last a long while (thankfully, it didn't). This chapter is where things get interesting and fair warning: it may include some sexual content. So if you are homophobic/conservative, keep that in mind. Though, it's quite mild & nothing big, really, but oh well.. just doing my job here.

"This is not even funny" thought Danno to himself so angrily as he poured the river water onto his naked body in order to clean it. "There was a reason I wasn't looking forward to this shit getaway, & this is exactly it" He was now applying a used bar of soap & dreading every minute of it. "I should have never come. Steve & I? What the fuck was I thinking?!" now what was his internal voice turned to him yelling out loud, "COME TAKE A LOOK AT DETECTIVE WILLIAMS, EVERYBODY! DETECTIVE DANIEL WILLIAMS, THE IDIOT! STANDING NAKED IN THE MIDDLE OF A RIVER, BATHING!"
"Danny?" Steve's voice erupted from the back. Danny froze. "Oh fuck." Danny was trying to think fast, but all he was thinking about was that Steve was practically facing his bare buttocks. "Think Daniel, think." But why was Steve so quiet? Was he staring? This can't be happening. Finally, Danny sunk into the river & only stuck out his head out of the water then turned to Steve, terrified of what his reaction would be.
Steve was halfway between a grimace & a smile. He was standing by the river where Danny's clothes were, just looking at his embarrassed partner. Danny's blue eyes were shining as he was looking at Steve, trying to read his emotions. "Sorry about that, you weren't supposed to… uhm… see what you saw" Danny finally said, so hesitantly.
Steve broke into laughter; he was laughing & laughing until his eyes were wet with tears of pure laughter. Danny joined in as well, in relief. They were both laughing like idiots but none of them knew why. Steve was a tough guy, he was supposed to be used to seeing bodies & accepting their biological nature, but seeing Danny's butt was just un-called for. Danny, on the other hand, was laughing his nervousness off & hoping this will all go away by the time the laughter ceases.
"That-that was something-" Steve started saying but couldn't complete as he was laughing so hard "-something you don't see every day. You need a tan, buddy" & the laughter continued from the two of them. "You're one to talk, Steven. I bet yours is even whiter than mine" Danny said, feeling less & less embarrassed, surprisingly. "You don't know that!" Steve answered very amusingly. Danny looked at his partner & scanned his pockets to see if there was any sort of cellphone or gadget & the next thing Steve knew, his partner took him by the hand & pulled him towards the river, creating a huge splash. Steve was yelling & laughing, feeling like a kid. "This is not cool, Detective." Steve said after the splashing contest was over. "Oh yeah? What are you gonna do about it, huh?" Danny challenged him. "You'll see" Steve answered, with a look filled with threat. Steve then arose from the water & took off his shirt. "Whoa, whoa, what are you doing?" Danny said in a panicky manner, though he secretly was okay with it. Steve froze & looked at his partner, "What am I doing? I'm going to shower as well." & Steve continued stripping down, Danny fought the temptation to stare down at his well-shaped partner & he succeeded by simply turning his head & not looking at him. "Well, you take your time."
Danny sensed that Steve was now in the water, so he took the risk & looked back. Fortunately, only Steve's head was visible from above the water. Steve was laying his head back, eyes closed, just listening to the ripples of water around him; he was seeking peace of mind.
"You seem like you need a break" Danny said as he was staring at his gorgeous partner, fighting every sort of temptation. "You alright?"
"Dannyyyyyy" Steve moaned the name, "Can't the boss get a minute of relaxation?" Steve remained immobile.
"Right… The BOSS" Danny said, a little bummed.
Danny took this as his queue to leave, so he walked to the shore & arose from the water, Steve didn't mean to chase him away, but he was enjoying this relaxation too much, he was in no mood to convince Danny to stay.
As Danny arose, Steve felt the movement, & so he peaked a little to get a final look at his partner's nude body; but he too, had no idea why.
Back at the camp site, since darkness was starting to take over, the Five-0 team started rushing to the river to shower before it gets too dark & less dangerous. Danno came back with a towel around his waist, clothes in his hands. He enters his & Kamekona's tent, opens his suitcase & starts rummaging for appropriate clothing cause the weather was starting to get cold. "Briefs, sweat pants, undershirt, hoodie, sneakers… Gosh, Grace is such an amazing packer" he wore the items he listed in his head & came out of the tent. What a sight.
The camp-fire has been set up, it was something like a huge bonfire, it was a beautiful orange-yellow mixture that was so gorgeously alive & Steve was sitting behind it, he was staring at the burning logs, his eyes mirroring the flames, his skin was giving off a vibrant bronze colour, his lips were so perfectly shaped into a small smirk, so all-in-all, his face was looking super flawless. Danny took a deep breath & approached Steve.
"McGarrett" he said. Steve looked up, his eyes exploding with colour, that made Danny weak in the knees but he tried to stay calm & sit down next to him, calmly. "Where's everybody?" Danny asked, looking around. "They went to the river" Steve said, looked back at the fire, then immediately back at Danny, "to shower." Danny nodded & now he looked at the fire. Steve's sight was locked on Danny. Danny looked gorgeous as well. His little facial hairs were now glowing, his light blue eyes looked orange/yellow & super bright. His blonde hair really stood out in contrast with the fire & his face too, looked super flawless. "You're so beautiful" muttered Steve, contemplating his partner even more. Danny was startled & faced Steve. "What did you say?" Danny asked, eager for the answer. Steve was now in a panicky mood, it was like they were taking turns in who will be embarrassed next. "I-"started Steve, but then Kamekona & Chin showed up, carrying Kono, who was screaming. Danny & Steve looked at their partners & rushed to them because Kono did not look well. "What happened?" Steve asked, leaning towards Kono who was yelling out of pain. "She was stung" Chin said, freaking out. Max came running after them, carrying some clothing items. "Kamekona you forgot your shoes & Chin, you've got nothing on except a briefs!" Chin glared at Max & said, "I think we have a more important issue here, Max" "Oh, the sting? That should heal in a minute! I'll just pour onto her wound a couple of creams I brought with me; just give me a minute to grab them from the tent. Oh, and make sure she's warm… The clothes she's in are certainly not enough." Max instructed & ran to his tent to grab the medication. They all helped in positioning Kono near the fire like Max said. Kamekona was terrified, so he went to start preparing dinner. Chin was caressing his cousin & telling her it was all going to be okay. Steve gripping her hand for her to squeeze on it & deal with the pain till Max got back. Danny was just there, watching. He wanted to help, but there was nothing left for him to do, so he just watched from a slight distance. Max came running back & got down on his knees to apply the creams onto Kono's shin where she was stung by that fish or whatever. But there was a problem, every time Max was coming closer to apply the cream, Kono kicks her legs & cries in agony. She would not keep calm for Max to put on the creams! Danny suddenly rushed in to help; he grabbed her feet and steadied them on the ground, his firm grip kept them tightly together & strictly on the ground. Max then put on the creams & all was well (except for the deafening screams Kono let out). Danny was feeling bad for his partner in pain, but he was also selfishly hoping Steve was watching him hold Kono down, maybe impress him.
The whole Five-0 team was now sitting around the fire which has calmed down now & is not as huge as it was. Everyone was enjoying the delicious meat mixed with onions, marinated in tropical juices Kamekona has prepared. Kono was now feeling relaxed & well. Everyone was reminiscing about their first days in HPD, in Hawaii, strange cases, funny memories… the whole crew was just bonding & feeling closer than ever. Steve was sitting right beside Danny, on his left, & they were constantly sharing glances & sometimes, eye-contact was made.
The night progressed & Chin broke out his ukulele. He, Max & Kamekona started singing Hawaiian songs, & sometimes Steve & Kono would join in! They even tried teaching Danny a couple of verses, but Danny's pronunciation sucks, so they quickly dropped that. "Danny it's not Yhuihou `oy e kal leni.. it's Ehuehu `oe e ka lani!" Kono said. Steve started teasing Danny about his pronunciation & starting tickling his nose, "can you say OhAna, Danny? Can you?" & Danny shoved Steve's hand away & started laughing, feeling sort of embarrassed. "Shut up Steven" Danny finally said, but that definitely didn't shut him up. The laughter that rose up from that little circle was glorious!
The crew had laughed & ate & so, they got up to clean & put away the litter in trash bags they got with them. Danny & Steve stayed put; "You should practice your Hawaiian, Danno" said Steve, Danny eyed him & wanted to answer, until he was interrupted by Steve's ringtone. Danny looked down at the ringing mobile that was on the ground & it read CATHERINE.
"Well fuck you" Danny thought, though he thought he liked Catherine.
Steve looked at the caller ID & looked back at Danny who had a sort of cringed up kinda face. Steve kept looking at Danny, even while lifting up the phone & reluctantly answering his girlfriend. "Hey" Steve said & got up to converse with her. Danny kept looking at the ground & didn't say a word. He had a twig in his hand, so he started doodling random faces & stick figures, things he wouldn't know how to define, but he could define one thing… His feeling of jealousy.
Steve came back from his phone call; Danny saw the shadow walking towards him but made no effort in looking up. "Are those me & you?" Steve asked, pointing at the two stick figures Danny drew unconsciously. The stick figures weren't doing any action, they were just standing there, but their hands were almost meeting."Well, it's definitely not Grace & her boyfriend" Danny replied, in a sort of hostility he did not mean for it to come out. Steve laughed regardless that though, it's like he saw Danny's jealousy coming, but he wasn't sure. Steve sighed & sat next to Danny, snatching the twig from Danny's hand, purposely making their skins touch. Steve drew next to the stick figures a home & trees & birds. Danny smiled & looked up at Steve. Steve stared into Danny's blue eyes that were a shade of blue, darker than they were when he saw them at the beginning of the night; nevertheless, he couldn't stop staring.
"Steve? Steve! Are you staring into my soul or something?" Danny asked, a little frantically.
Steve chuckled and looked down at the ground, gathered his courage and looked back at Danny.
"Danny, do you remember when-uhm-before they got Kono here… I said something, something that startled you," Steve said, reluctantly yet lovingly.
Danny's heart started pounding faster & he remembered the whole scene, but he played dumb just to hear Steve talk about it. "What are you talking about?" letting out a little smile. Steve smiled back and got closer to Danny who stiffened. "You know what I'm talking out, Detective Williams" Steve said Detective Williams in a very lazy, sexy way, letting out a half smile that made Danny experience an erection & his heart race. Steve approached Danny & just kept aiming at his lips. To Steve's surprise, Danny leaned back & said, "I want you to say it."
Steve sighed, nodded in laughter and admitted what Danny has secretly wanted to hear all this time. "What I said was… You are beautiful & I can't help but think that… that you, Danny, are something special. I mean, yes there's Catherine, but I just… I wish that I look at her and think of her and want her the way I look and think and want you", without giving room for Danny to respond or even think, Steve lunged for a kiss. He just leaned closer, put his hand on his partner's right side of his face and just kissed him. Danny couldn't believe it. Steve's soft lips were finally on his, and he just reacted; he kissed him back. He grabbed his partner's face, and just got into the mood so much. He was kissing him with all the passion he had built up inside him. He wanted to use his tongue so badly, but he was super hesitant, until Steve used his.
As scout-ish as it sounds, they were making out at camp.
