Chapter Twelve
Don't You Know You're Life Itself?
Tears streamed down Sarah's face as she saw Jareth was standing, smiling, and most importantly alive. The black vines that had overgrown the place like a cancer and Abyss were gone. Jareth smile was wide and his eyes misting up. "Sarah! Oh my love, you saved me! Thank you."
Sarah launched herself into Jareth's chest, nearly knocking him over and she gave him a passionate and nearly bruising kiss that Jareth returned with equal fervor. When they parted for breath Jareth had a happy dazed look on his face. Sarah couldn't help but ask, "How? Not that I'm not happy, because I'm ecstatic! But how did I save you? I didn't do much."
Jareth chuckled. "When your lips touched mine, Abyss and those magic eating thorns started dying. All I did was give the final blow, you did most the work. You should know how it works in the stories. True love's kiss is one of those cure-alls for evil curses, especially when damsels in distress are involved. You should know how these things are done! Wait a minute..."
Jareth looked Sarah up and down. "If you're the knight in shining armor then...Oh bloody hell that must make me the princess in peril! Oh well I may as well go along with it. On the bright side the standard hero reward will be fun for both of us!" Jareth chirped happily.
Jareth then flopped on the bed and lay in a effeminate manner. He put his hand against his head, a mocking gesture of the quintessential princess. He spoke in a falsetto and batted his eyelashes at Sarah. "O brave and noble knight, thou hast saved me from the evil monster that plagued my kingdom and thou hast awakened me from my slumber with true love's kiss! How can I ever repay thee?"
Sarah tried to hold in her laughter but failed miserably and fell on the bed next to Jareth holding her ribs and making very unladylike snorts. Jareth tried to look affronted but his boyish grin ruined it. "Hey! I'm a sweet innocent and naïve maiden offering my precious chastity to you and you dare laugh!"
Sarah kept laughing and sniped back between guffaws, "Sweet? Innocent? Naive? If you take the first letter of each of those words, I think you would get a word that describes you better. Believe me, you're less of a virgin than Casanova and twice as sexy."
Jareth's smiled vanished and the good humor in the room died. Sarah remembered that she had destroyed the memories of his past before meeting her, including that he was once a father that has unfortunately outlived most of his children and abandoned by all of his lovers. Jareth sighed. "You can't count what I can't remember, love. I can see in your eyes that you found some pieces of my past while traipsing through my labyrinth. I feel in my heart that there is pain there that is best forgotten, though I cannot remember it all. I also know that I have done many terrible things in the past. Stealing your baby brother, and tricking you into eating the fruit of eternal life in some insane attempt to keep you here, being, I feel, is the least of my sins. I truly didn't know that the peach was rotten nor the trouble that it would later cause, for that I am very sorry."
Sarah sat down next to Jareth on the bed and kissed him on the cheek. Sarah knew of his past, but she did not care what name or face that he once had. The only name and face she wanted was the one in front of her; Jareth the Goblin King and Lord of a sometimes-scary-sometimes-wonderful Labyrinth. "Jareth, this a second chance. From what I've learned from those that knew you and the mementos in the vault, your love life was a lousy one. You had a terrible habit of picking the worst partners imaginable, whenever you found someone decent your bad experiences and your subjects chased them away."
"Like it did you? It was almost a year ago in the human world on Beltane that you wished away your baby brother, went through dangers untold, and hardships unnumbered, to kick my sorry arse where it hurt. Your rejection ripped my heart and the rest of me in two. But you came back for me, I thought you abandoned me forever. Will you stay with me? Forever?" Jareth looked desperately at Sarah.
Sarah embraced him. "I'm sorry I hurt you. What had happened was mostly my fault and I intend to fix it, but do you know why I rejected you and why I was so angry with you? Do you remember that line you gave me? 'Fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave'?" Jareth nodded.
Sarah continued. "I wanted to love you, but what kind of fucked up relationship would it have been where I feared you, obeyed you and I had you for a slave? I don't want to be the object of some glittery psycho bastard's affections, that's the premise of a whole lot of horror movies! What really angered me this second round in your labyrinth of fun is what eating that magic peach really meant for me. You tricked me into in a marriage, into throwing away my mortal life, into taking away the freedom to choose who to love. Forget that the fruit in question was rotten."
Sarah saw Jareth wince and flinched under her less than happy glare. Her anger died and she gently cupped his face, easing him. "Jareth, I gave it some thought and I will stay with you, but if I stay here forever I'll miss my family and they would miss me too. Besides I prefer food in the human world, Goblins can't cook too well. To stay here right now and never see them again would be too much for me and them. I will give myself to you if I can at least pretend to be a mortal for just a few more years. I love you Jareth and I can't let you go, in some twisted ways you helped me get stronger and grow as a person. If it weren't for you I would have become a selfish person like my mother. So I thought of a compromise."
Jareth looked intrigued and hopeful. "A compromise?"
Sarah smiled and nodded. "Yeah. You see in the human world I'm still considered a child and I can't get married, not to mention that people would frown on our obvious age difference. But here—"
Jareth interrupted her. "There is nothing wrong about our love! And you are not a child! Do you know how few adults would face my Labyrinth than have their dreams granted? You are more kind, more selfless, more wise, and more mature than most adults of your world! You are an uncommon woman, Sarah, one I gladly elevate from a banal mortal existence!"
Sarah agreed with him, knowing that her own mother chose her dreams over her own family. "I know Jareth, but I still want to do human things, like high school, and argue with my parents over stupid stuff. We have all of forever together, but I don't have a whole lot of time to just be a teenager. Besides one of the human things I want to do is sneak around with a boyfriend that's sure to piss off my parents. They have always been trying to get me to do 'normal' stuff, besides..." Sarah leaned in closer and whispered sensually in his ear. "My parents aren't around most of the time, and I do get quite lonely."
Jareth eyes widened and a smile blossomed on his face at the rebellious streak his beloved was showing. "Oh precious, are you suggesting what I think you are?"
Sarah nodded. "Yeah. When I'm back in the human world I want to be a rebellious teenager, but here in your Labyrinth I want to be your equal, your queen, and your wife. What do you say?"
Jareth answered her by crushing his lips against hers, pouring his passion and delight into the kiss. When the two parted, it left them both panting for breath. Sarah felt happily dazed. "I'll take that as a yes."
Jareth looked around his room noticing the rubble and destruction left behind by Abyss and its cursed weeds. "Hold on, let me clean this rubbish up." Jareth said, feeling a little embarrassed at the thought of deflowering his queen when his room looked like a tornado blew through there. With a flick of his wrist a crystal appeared in his hand and as he tossed it in the air it burst in a blinding flash of light and color. The room was cleared of any reminders of Abyss and the stone floor covered in layers of rose petals and glitter. All around them were many lit candles giving the entire room a sensual glow.
Jareth's clothes were gone and as was her armor. The only thing the two of them wore were matching sickle shaped pendants. They laid side by side on the white silk sheets of the carved king sized bed. Jareth drank her naked form in, savoring it like a fine wine and felt himself harden at the sight of her. Sarah, too drank in his form naked form hungrily. Jareth picked up the peach that he had taken a bite out of and offered it to her. "Go on, love this one is not rotten, I promise."
Sarah took the peach from him with some understandable trepidation and sniffed it. It had a strong rich sweet scent of verdant orchards and magic. The rotten peach from Sarah's memories had no scent. Carefully Sarah took a very small bite. 'This is nothing like that other peach!' Sarah never tasted anything so rich, so sweet, so lush, or anything close to it. It filled her with a warmth that seemed to reach to her very soul. Sarah hungrily took another large bite, its sweet juices ran down her fingers. Jareth caught her hand, licking the stray droplets of the peach juices from her fingers. Jareth took another bite of the peach Sarah held in her hand.
Sarah saw drops of juice drip down Jareth's chin and licked the drops from his mouth. They melted into a passionate kiss, both tasting peach on the other's tongue. Jareth tore off more of the peach and laid them on Sarah's breasts. Slowly he licked and sucked the peach off of Sarah. He savored the taste of peaches on her rosebud nipples and the feel of her soft yielding breasts under his hands. She arched her body to him, wanting more as Jareth sucked and massaged her soft mounds.
Sarah then pushed Jareth onto his back. She then tore the rest of the fruit, letting the juices drip onto Jareth's erection. She looked down on Jareth hungrily, like a cat looked at the canary before swallowing it. She eagerly took Jareth's erection in her hands and licked the juices off it. Jareth threw his head back and made a strangled cry. "Sarah! Please! I won't last long!"
Sarah ignored him and sucked on the head harder while stroking his shaft with one hand and holding down his bucking hips with the other. Sarah took pleasure from the sounds Jareth was making. She felt powerful to make The Goblin King whimper and chant her name like a prayer. Jareth eventually found his willpower and with great reluctance pushed Sarah off of him. His breath came out in ragged pants. "Oh my Sarah..." Jareth panted and purred to her. "When I spill my seed our first time together, I want it to be inside you."
Jareth switched their positions so Sarah was lying reposed on her back on the silk sheets. Sarah spread her legs for him, smiling seductively, inviting her lover to her most sacred of places. Jareth laid his head between her thighs, and slowly savored the taste, the smell, and the feel of her as he did once before. Hungrily he licked and sucked at the little bundle of nerves in her moist folds. He enjoyed the way she cried out his name and how wet she was for him. 'Good, the more wet she is the less painful it her first time shall be.' Jareth dipped his tongue in and out of her entrance, imitating another larger object he will be putting there soon, and lapped up the nectar gushing from her.
Jareth stopped his ministrations, making Sarah whimper with the loss and slide his body up. His erection laid at her entrance, ready to thrust in. Jareth looked into her eyes, seeing her hunger equally for him. She wanted to join him as badly as he did. Sarah did not want to wait any longer. She wrapped her legs around him and pushed him inside of her. Sarah expected to feel pain upon first joining with him, but instead Jareth seemed glide inside of her like it had always belonged there. The feeling of her muscles stretching and enveloping him was strange and wonderful at the same time, like something she had been missing all her life was found. Sarah felt complete.
Jareth laid inside her, not moving yet, simply savoring the feeling of being inside her at last. Sarah's passage enveloped and welcomed him. He was overwhelmed by a strange feeling he could not quite put a name to, it was a warm feeling that filled his entire soul. He felt like a traveler that had finally come home after years of a long journey.
After a few moments, Jareth gave a shallow thrust, making both of them gasp at the sensation. Encouraged, Jareth thrust in more, finding a steady rhythm. They felt the pleasure their own bodies felt but also felt an echo of the pleasure the other felt. They felt themselves connecting, not only in body but in soul as well. The rhythm of his thrust grew rapid, and deeper, almost pulling out completely before embedding himself deep within her. Their breaths came out in rapid pants and their bodies slicked with sweat. They pressed themselves together as tightly as physically possible and yet it still didn't feel enough. They kissed, licked and tightly held on to each other, raking nails across their lover's back, desperate and wild for more.
As the pleasure continued to build, coiling like a tightly wound spring within them, neither Jareth nor Sarah could tell where one of them began and the other ended. They felt like they had become one being. Higher they continue to soar to the plateaus of bliss. Finally something exploded, their bodies seized and convulsed, overwhelmed by sheer ecstasy. Jareth filled her with his seed, her passage convulsing and clenching tightly around him, milking every drop from him.
Together they slowly climbed down from their peak, panting for breath, feeling sticky and exhausted from their love making. Jareth and Sarah fell asleep in each others arms as King and Queen, husband and wife, and eternally joined together.
oOo
Sarah woke up the next morning in her own bedroom in her parents house. For a moment she thought it was a cruel wonderful dream until she tried to move. She was naked and she felt a soreness between her legs. She ran hands down her body, inspecting herself. She was feeling sticky all over from sweat, saliva, and other bodily fluids. She knew exactly what the stuff was that had dried up on her thighs. What had happened was no dream. She looked around in a panic, realizing Jareth was nowhere to be found. 'Did Jareth abandoned me?'
Sarah felt betrayal cut through her heart like a sword. Not even the pain of her mother abandoning could compare to the agony that she felt now. Tears started welling up in her eyes and she punched her pillow over and over. "Jareth! You bastard! I thought you loved me!"
Her bedroom door creaked open. There was Jareth, naked as she and standing as bold as brass. He was holding tray of breakfast, he had made her a cup of tea with some peach scones, there was even a little vase with a red rose. The radiant smile on his face when he saw tears streaming down her cheeks. "Sarah? What's wrong, my love?"
"For a moment, I thought you left me!"
Jareth set the tray on the foot of her bed and sat down next to her. "I won't be leaving you ever, in fact you'll have a hard time getting rid of me. Especially now." Jareth put a hand over her belly.
Sarah felt a sense a dread sinking in the pit of her stomach. "Now?"
Jareth beamed brightly, almost smug. "Oh yes, now that we will be having children. I've already come up with a name for one of two little ones inside you. Jareth Jr. has a nice ring to it. The girl, however, will need a bit more thought... Any ideas, my wife?"
Sarah gawped at him. "Wait a minute, I'M PREGNANT?! With twins?! I can't be pregnant! I'm not ready! Oh God, in a few months I'm going to be as fat as a whale and my parents! What am I going to tell them?!"
Jareth pulled Sarah into his arms, kissing her until she calmed down. "Relax, my wife. I know that you are not yet ready for motherhood. That's why were putting them on hold for now. You know how you can pause tapes? The magic I put over your womb does the same thing."
Sarah brought a hand protectively to her belly. "You didn't hurt them did you?"
Jareth looked affronted. "What? No! I would never hurt them! Here. Close your eyes and feel."
Jareth put a hand on her belly and Sarah felt in. The two little lights of life within her. She knew, she didn't know how, but she knew that it would someday be their son and the daughter. They were waiting for her permission to grow and to be. Sarah wasn't ready now, but someday when she was, she would gladly welcome them into the world and their father would be there. She smiled. "Jareth Jr. Huh? He's going to be teased so much... I guess we can always call him J.J. for short. Not she what to name our girl, but we have plenty of time to figure it out. For now, I think I would like to try some of those delicious-looking scones you made."
A thump on the roof and the sound of someone told them that they had company. Sarah and Jareth scrambled for something to cover themselves, thankfully Jareth conjured two robes for them and went downstairs and saw none other than Santa, the once viking god Odin as Sarah discovered, standing there with Toby and Merlin the 'sheepdog'. Toby shouted with glee and ran to his sister shouting, "Mama! I miss you! I made sandcastles and I sand king now!"
Sarah smiled and hugged Toby. "A king, huh? Sounds like you had fun. Thank you for looking after him. He didn't cause trouble, did he?"
Odin laughed, his belly jiggling like a bowl full of jelly. "Ho ho ho! He was quite the little rascal, made the goblins build him a giant sandcastle, declared himself king of the beach, kicked seagulls that threatened his authority and rallied the goblins to war against any rebellious seagulls. He reminds me of Jareth here."
Jareth clapped Toby on the shoulder proudly, "That's my boy! You have all the makings of a king! How would you like to help me with my poultry problem? There was this usurping rooster that I'd like 'taken care' of..."
Sarah admonished her husband. "Jareth! My little brother isn't some hit man!"
Jareth looked hurt. "But precious! How else am I going to deal with that treasonous rooster? He turned my city into a chicken-sty! Who do you think procured those camcorders for the goblins?"
Sarah's expression turned deadly. "The rooster dies. Roast him, serve him on a silver platter for me and make all the goblins watch as I eat his delicious barbequed carcass as an example."
Jareth pulled Sarah into his arms and purred huskily against her neck, "Oh my queen, how I love that vicious streak of yours! I would have you again right here and now!" Jareth pressed his hips against hers, letting Sarah know that his interest was piqued.
The sound of throat clearing sobered them up letting them know that they were not alone. Santa Claus smirked. "I see that you two have officially become husband and wife, congratulations. I must warn you that Mr and Mrs Williams have boarded their plane home. I'd say you have a few hours to yourselves..." And ol' Saint Nick gave them a glare that reminded them of his past as the viking war god, Odin. "Just remember, NOT in front of Toby." His eyes changed to their usual merry twinkle. "I see you two have cemented the bond. I remembered when I made such a similar bond with my beloved wife. Over three thousand years the missus and I bonded our souls together and we have yet to lose that passionate spark!"
Sarah's eyebrows shot up. "Three thousand years?! You've been married for that long?"
"It far more than what you humans call a marriage, where all that holds two people together is a piece of paper and a few fragile promises. Once two souls have been bonded together, like my beloved and myself and now like the two of you, such bonds are inseparable and eternal. I warn you that there is no such thing as divorce nor room any other lovers, but as long as you two remember to hold nothing back with each other than you two will be fine. And with that I wish you luck!"
With a finger laid aside his nose, he nodded farewell, and up the chimney he rose. The sheepdog Merlin, that Sarah now knew better as Merlin the wizard, changed from dog to old man with a long silver beard and blue robes. Jareth looked taken aback, and shoved Sarah and Toby protectively behind him. "Who the bloody Hell are you?"
Merlin looked down sadly and Sarah came out behind Jareth. Sarah sighed, she knew things about Jareth that he sadly has forgotten, the children and the past he had before he met her that fateful May Eve just a few years ago. "Jareth, this is Merlin, he's your..."
"I'm a friend from long ago. We didn't exactly part on decent terms." Merlin finished for her. "Your meeting Sarah that night in the park was not a coincidence. I sort of manipulated events and used a bit of magic to get you two to meet and fall in love, for that I'm not sorry, but I can say that it was for the greater good."
Sarah felt a pang of great sadness for Merlin, for what he was sacrificing to give Jareth a new life. Jareth's expression changed to a bright happy smile. "That was you who summoned me to the park that night? Thank you for introducing me to her." Jareth's eyebrows furrowed trying to remember something. "I remember a dark day long ago, I had taken a child named Arthur, and you solved my Labyrinth to get him back. You gave me a glimpse of Sarah and told me a prophecy, it came true. You saw all this coming?"
Merlin nodded. "It took me many years to find the perfect woman for you, what I found was that she would not be born for centuries and you were in a very dark place. You were not a very nice man in the past and made many enemies, but you can put all that behind you now."
Jareth grabbed his hand and shook it. "Thank you, I don't know why you did all that for my happiness, but thank you. If there's any thing I can do for you, just call."
Merlin's eyes misted up and he sniffed back tears. "Would you mind if I talk to Sarah in private? I need to tell her something."
Jareth looked at Sarah dubiously. Sarah assured her husband with a kiss. "Its fine Jareth, take Toby and play with him."
Jareth took an eager Toby by the hand and led him outside, presumably so Toby can show off his souvenirs from the beach. Sarah wondered if Jareth was going to give her little brother pointers in on the art of drop kicking goblins into the bog. When she was alone with Merlin, the wizard collapsed in on the couch with a heavy sigh. "That was one the hardest things I ever had to do."
Sarah sat down next to him. "Why keep the fact that you're his son a secret? Why do all this for him? From what I gather, in the past he was not the greatest examples of fatherhood."
Merlin's smile was a weak one. "He was a good parent to me. He raised me and taught me magic in a time when it was reviled. My birth mother was a nun, just remember that Jareth had his flaws and his charms, and she thought I cambion, a demon spawn. She wanted nothing to do with me, and went back to her life in a convent, pretending it never happened. So Jareth raised me alone. He only took Arthur, my grandson because he saw before I did that Arthur would die at the hands of Mordred. I know now that he was trying to protect his family and prevent the tragedy. You know the story, I failed. Jareth was always a good man, but the pain he suffered tarnished him. Now he has a second chance for a life, the man that raised me the man he used to be is no more. Now is simply Jareth the Goblin King."
Sarah sighed, she felt sorry for Jareth and for all his children. "What will happen to his past children, and you?"
"I will go back to guarding Arthur's tomb and waiting the for the day he will rise again when his land needs him. Hel will rot in the dreary land that bears her name. She could not let go of her hatred, it was all she had. Now that you are bonded to Jareth there is little she can do now. If she does cause trouble you can always call me or any of my brothers. For now I must go."
Sarah shot up. "Wait you're leaving?"
Merlin nodded. "Yes I am. I abandoned my duty to guard over Arthur long enough, don't worry we will meet again and you are always welcome to visit me for a cup of tea. If you need anything just call."
Sarah hugged Merlin good-bye. "I'll miss you, Merlin. You were alway a good dog."
Merlin hugged her back before the wizard vanished in puff of smoke and glitter. Sarah was going to miss her dog, but she had a brother, her friend, even the goblins, and now a husband to keep her from ever being lonely. She wondered what she was going to tell her parents where the family dog went. 'How they going to react when they meet Jareth?' Sarah thought, picturing a melodrama of arguments, crying, all ending with her father getting out the shotgun and Jareth dumping him into the Bog of Eternal Stench. Sarah hoped that the meeting won't go over that badly. Right now she wouldn't worry about that, she had a husband and a brother to spend time with. 'I wonder how Hoggle, Ludo, and Sir Didymus are doing, I'll have to tell them the big news. And the goblins too! I'm sure they'll be excited at the prospect of a little goblin prince and princess is in the works... I'm sure we've got time for a little party before my parents come home...'
oOo
