"Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal: The Shining Adventure"
Chapter 15 – Team Rocket's Hiding in the Basement?!:
What the hell?! Why is Team Rocket hiding in the basement. Let's dive in to find out? I'm just as afraid as you.
Lance let out both his Dragonite and Aerodactyl. He climbed onto Dragonite's back, along with ruby. Gold and Crystal shared Aerodactyl's back. They then flew back quickly to Mahogany Town.
"Return." Lance withdrew his two Pokémons.
"Let's go!" Gold said, enthusiastic to stop whatever is harming the Magikarps of the Lake of Rage. They moved towards the shop that only sold Poké Balls, Potions and Mushrooms and entered it, finding Silver tying up the owners of the shop.
"Silver, what the-?!" the group (with the exception of Lance) asked, surprised to see him not only there but doing that!
"Lance asked me to come here and find where the broadcast is being made."
"But I didn't tell you to tie them up!" Lance said.
"You didn't tell to not to tie them up either." Silver replied, making the Champion sweatdrop. "Besides, if it's Team Rocket, they deserve to be tied up."
They all looked with puzzled expressions at Silver. Sure, he was Gold's rival, and didn't seem evil in many ways (just in stealing), but it seemed somewhat odd to see him say that.
"You…" one of the Team Rocket Grunts that was tied up spoke, referring Silver, calling all eyes towards him. "Haven't I seen you before?"
"Doubt it." Silver replied, as Lance moved towards one of the closets and pushed it aside, revealing a hidden staircase.
"One of you has to stay here and keep an eye on them." Lance explained, as he opened the Poké Ball to let out his Dragonite.
"I'll stay." Ruby offered. It actually made sense: he didn't have any Pokémons so he wouldn't help in any battle down there, but the Rocket Grunts didn't know that, so it would be improbable for them to try to escape.
"Very well then. Gold, Silver, Crystal, let's go." Lance requested, walking down the stairs, followed by his Dragonite. Gold, Silver and Crystal nodded, and they followed Lance.
"Now I know where I know that kid!" the Grunt exclaimed, calling Ruby's attention. "You have no idea who he really is, do you?"
"What do you mean?" Ruby asked with a firm glare.
"He is…" after receiving the information, Ruby's eyes widened out.
"Oi… You must be kidding…"
"Nope!" the grunt began laughing, as Ruby looked down the stair case.
"Silver is…" he said to himself in disbelief.
Lance, Gold, Crystal, Silver and Dragonite hurried downstairs and finally entered the secret basement. But Lance suddenly stopped.
"Hey, why the sudden stop?" Gold asked, confused.
"This seems far too easy. Why make this place such a big secret and in the end being a single corridor with no guards?"
"I see what you mean." Crystal spoke, as she took out one of her Poké Balls and opened it.
"Azumarill!"
"Azumarill, use Scald on the wall."
"Azu!" Azumarill released a stream of boiling water surrounded in steam against the nearby wall. The steam released from the attack resulted in not only warming up the place but also revealing the invisible red lasers, which appeared to be somewhat motion activated.
"We have to deactivate them, but how?" Lance wondered.
"There must be a computer nearby that controls these." Silver guessed, as Crystal withdrew Azumarill.
"Then I have an idea." Gold spoke, as he opened a Poké Ball, letting out Togetic.
"Toge?"
"Togetic, take this Poké Ball with you. It contains Electabuzz. Search for a computer without touching any of the lasers, ok?"
"Toge!" she agreed, taking the Poké Ball into her hands.
"Ask Electabuzz to use Thunder Wave, ok?"
"Tic!" Togetic flew away, slowly, so she wouldn't touch any of the motion detectors. She continued searching as Gold and Lance played Rock Paper Scissors (I know, weird, Crystal and Silver thought it was too). Then, after a couple of turns, she found what seemed to be a computer room.
"Toge!" Togetic pressed on the button of the Poké Ball, letting out her teammate Electabuzz.
"Ere?"
"Toge-Toge!" she pointed at the computers and asked him to use Thunder Wave on them. He nodded and did what she requested, making them go on an overload of electricity and turn off. The lasers disappeared, making Gold smirk in pride. Togetic and Electabuzz returned, and he withdrew his Pokémons, in order to proceed. They found a set of stairs and walked down them, finding a trio of grunts.
"We won't let you intruders get past us!" the middle Grunt spoke, as the three took out a Poké Ball. "Yanma!"
"Hopip!"
"Wooper!"
The three Pokémons got out of the Poké Balls. Crystal used her Pokédex in order to obtain information about the little Pokémons.
"Yanma, the Clear Wing Pokémon. Its eyes can see 360 degrees without moving its head. It won't miss prey-even those behind it. If it flaps its wings really fast, it can generate shock waves that will shatter windows in the area. By flapping its wings at high speed, it can fly freely through the air. Even sudden stops are no problem.
Hoppip, the Cottonweed Pokémon. Its body is so light, it must grip the ground firmly with its feet to keep from being blown away. It drifts on winds. It is said that when Hoppip gather in fields and mountains, spring is on the way.
Wooper, the Water Fish Pokémon. This Pokémon lives in cold water. It will leave the water to search for food when it gets cold outside. When walking on land, it covers its body with a poisonous film that keeps its skin from dehydrating."
"Dragonite, prepare your Flamethrower." Lance requested, but Silver moved forward, confusing Lance, Dragonite, and the others. Dragonite stopped and silver took out three Poké Balls off his belt.
"Hitmontop, Magneton, Pupitar, standby for battle!" Silver threw the Poké Ball, Fast Ball (Magneton's) and the Heavy Ball (Pupitar's), making them open up and letting them out.
"Hitmontop!"
"Magneton!"
"Pupi!"
Gold used the Pokédex in order to analyze his rival's Pokémons.
"Hitmontop, the Handstand Pokémon, and one of the evolved forms of Tyrogue. It fights while spinning like a top. The centrifugal force boosts its destructive power by 10. If you are enchanted by its smooth, dance-like kicks, you may get a closer experience with one than you'd like.
Magneton, the Magnet Pokémon, and the evolved form of Magnemite. A link cluster formed of several Magnemite. It discharges powerful magnetic waves at high voltage. Generates strange radio signals. It raises the temperature by 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit within 3,300 feet. The stronger electromagnetic waves from the three linked Magnemite are enough to dry out surrounding moisture. Many mysteriously appear when more sunspots dot the sun. They stop TV sets from displaying properly.
Pupitar, the Hard Shell Pokémon, and the evolved form of Larvitar. Its shell is as hard as sheet rock, and it is also very strong. Its thrashing can topple a mountain. By venting pressurized gas, it can launch itself like a rocket."
"Hitmontop, Triple Kick! Magneton, Thunderbolt! Pupitar, Chip Away!"
Hitmontop stood on top of the spike of his head and began spinning. He moved towards Wooper, kicking him with his feet and tail, thus three hard strikes, making him faint. Magneton's body began to expel electricity, becoming surrounded by it, and released a bolt of yellow electric power against Yanma, obligating her to faint. Pupitar jumped forward at high speed, outlined in red, and slammed his body against Hopip, obligating her to faint as well. The grunts withdrew their Pokémons.
"Grr… Quagsire!"
"Chinchou!"
"Slugma!"
They sent yet another three Pokémons, each glaring at Silver's Pokémons.
"Earthquake." Silver requested. Pupitar flashed white for a couple of second and then jumped up. When he landed, the ground quaked, releasing three white waves which traveled throughout the ground, and upon hitting the three Pokémons, it left them unconscious as well. The grunts withdrew their Pokémons and ran away in fear.
"Nice performance." Lance admitted.
"Don't think I've only got this. I'll battle you in the League as soon as I get the 8 Badges, you know?"
"Is that so?" Lance asked, seeing the cold determinate expression of Silver. "Well, there is no time to lose." Lance added, as Silver withdrew his Pokémons. They continued forward, finally reaching a room with two people present: a man with purple hair and a goofy-evil look, wearing a black uniform; the second was a woman with red hair, with red eyes, and wearing a white uniform of Team Rocket.
"Petrel and Ariana!" Silver yelled, revealing their names, making them turn to the little group. Apparently, they were the ones operating the Radio Waves.
"Uh?!" Petrel seemed to panic, but Ariana maintained calm. "Oh, it's just a bunch of kids."
"But if they are just a bunch of kids, why is the Champion following them and how did they reach this area?" Ariana spoke, making Petrel sweatdrop. "And who do we have here?! Little Silver-kun got some friends?"
"First of all, I don't have friends." Silver spoke, walking forward. He looked more determinate than ever. "Second, I'm here to stop you from continuing what you're doing."
"Don't have friends? Why's that? They seem to be friendly." Petrel noticed. "Maybe they are your friends and you don't want them to know who you really are."
Silver's eyes widened and his teeth clenched together. "CROCONAW! SNEASEL! MAGMAR!" Silver sent in his three Pokémons, but were suddenly stopped by being encased in rock. "What?!"
A Magcargo and a Remoraid revealed themselves. Apparently, they used a combination of Lava Plume and Water Gun to create rock around his Pokémons, making them unable to move. Apparently, both of them belonged to Ariana.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. It appears you want that secret to be safe more than ever, isn't it, Silver-kun?"
"Shut up!" he demanded.
"You don't want your little friends to know who you really are, do you?" Petrel chuckled.
"SHUT UP, SHUT UP!"
"Silver, what are they talking about?" Crystal asked, as Gold approached his Rival.
"Oi, Silver-"
"SHUT UUUUUPPP!" Silver shouted the loudest his lungs could cry, and began panting in fury, tiredness, and even fear. Those emotions were reflected on his eyes as well.
"Silver-kun… The one and only son of Giovanni, the Leader of Team Rocket!" Ariana revealed Silver's secret. Gold, Crystal and Lance were wide eyed, shocked by the sudden reveal of Silver's identity. "That's right! Silver, your little companion, is the son of the missing Leader of Team Rocket, who tried to dominate Kanto three years ago and control the Legendary Pokémons!"
Crystal finally understood why Silver was so cold towards people: no one in their right mind would actually befriend someone with such connections.
"Grrr…." Silver growled, glaring the best he could towards the Team Rocket Executives.
"So what?"
Everyone turned to gold in astonishment.
"So what if he is the son of the Leader of Team Rocket? That doesn't make him evil in any way. He might not exactly be my friend." Gold pointed his pool cue towards Petrel and Ariana with a firm cocky glare. "But he is my rival, and I'm the one who'll defeat him!"
"And even if I'm not his friend, he's my friend, and that means I'll help him no matter what!" Crystal stated, stepping forward as well.
"Crystal… Gold…"
"Finally you remember my name." Gold joked, slapping Silver's back, startling him. Silver turned, sweatdropping, but then his expression turned into surprise when he saw Gold and Crystal smiling. Silver took some moments, but then smiled as well.
"Hmph." Silver looked away, but was still smiling, though he tried to maintain strong. "Well… what are we waiting for?"
"Hitmonchan! Bayleef! Rhydon!"
"Sudowoodo! Togetic! Quilava!"
The six Pokémons jumped out of their Poké Balls, ready to enter the rumble. Hitmonchan quickly punched the rock, breaking it into pieces, setting Croconaw and the others free.
"Quagsire! Sunkern! Snubbull!" Petrel threw three Poké Balls, letting out his three Pokémons.
"Croconaw, Water Gun! Sneasel, Slash! Magmar, Flamethrower!"
"Quilava, Swift! Sudowoodo, Rock Throw! Togetic, Shadow Ball!"
"Bayleef, Razor Leaf! Rhydon, Earthquake! Hitmonchan, Vacuum Wave!"
The nine Pokémons attacked, but Ariana and Petrel, for some strange reason, withdrew their Pokémons and ran away, making the attacks hit the computer and making it explode, creating a large cloud of smoke, and making a fire!
"We have to get out of here!" Lance knew the fire was done by electronic causes, meaning that using water wouldn't be a solution.
"Rhydon, use Rock Tomb!"
Silver sparkles form in front of Rhydon's drill horn. The sparkles then expanded, forming into a silver orb of energy. Finally, the glow faded out the orb, forming into a large gray boulder with a transparent silver glow. The orb rested on Rhydon's horn, and he hurled the boulder at the computer, making more rocks appear. The rocks managed to extinguish the fire.
"Murkrow, Defog!" Silver threw the Poké Ball containing Murkrow, letting him out.
"Mur!" Murkrow's wings became outlined in light blue. The outline disappeared as he released multiple light blue crescents by flapping his wings. Repeating the process some times made the trick to make all the smoke disappear.
But Petrel and Ariana were nowhere to be found. Lance and the teens tried to find them, but it was useless. Apparently they managed to run away using a Silph Scope to get out of the smoke, and fled before anyone could reach them through a second exit, thus why ruby didn't see anyone coming up.
It couldn't be considered a defeat, since they did what they needed to do, but it certainly didn't feel like a victory either. Lance and the others came back from where they originally entered, reuniting with Ruby.
Lance thanked for their help and said he would take the Team Rocket Grunts that they had captured to the police (there's police in the Pokémon World?! 0.0). He flew away using his Dragonite and using hi Aerodactyl to bring the Grunts.
Gold and the others noticed that it was becoming dark and Ruby suggested that they'd all rest in the Poké Center for the time being. Amazingly, there was only one room. So there were two beds and two "someones" had to sleep on the floor.
"No dibs!" Ruby called, making Gold and Silver sweatdrop.
"Damnit." They murmured in unison.
"Well, today was a day that I don't really want to remember." Crystal spoke, trying to start a conversation.
"Yeah…" Silver agreed, sitting down on a chair.
But then, a question popped into Ruby's mind. "There's one thing I don't really understand: Silver, if your father is the missing leader of Team Rocket, how come you "despise" Team Rocket? I mean, it seems rather strange."
Gold and Crystal had more or less the same doubt, and so they both glanced at Silver as well.
"…I don't like how they treat Pokémons. I managed to escape Team Rocket three years ago when my father went missing, but before that, I was constantly surrounded by members of Team Rocket. My father didn't really care about me, even if I was his son. Of course, that meant I had access to their files. And of course, that made me aware of what happened 3 years ago."
"The incident of Kanto?" Crystal guessed.
"Not only that war, but also all sort of incidents caused by them: robbery, harming people, stealing Pokémons, even the death of a mother Marowak." Silver explained, making the others look down. "I didn't want to be like them. I didn't want to rule Team Rocket. They said I was supposed to take over it after my father disappeared. And that's what I did… For an hour. In that hour, I transferred all data of my dad's computer into this Flash Drive. After that, I ran away, fled to Johto and started stealing money and food. Then, three years after, here I am."
"Wait." Ruby had to ask. "You have pretty much ALL the important files of 3 years ago belonging to Giovanni?!"
"Basically, yes. Nothing new though. Projects related to Eevee, Porygon, plans to capture the Legendary Birds of Kanto, the project of Mewtwo, but…"
"What?" Ruby asked, confused why Silver made a sudden stop.
"There's this protected folder that I can't get in. It's weird. I tried to put in the names of all connections related to Team Rocket, Kanto, Johto, and anything I could think of." Silver explained, turning on the computer provided by the Poké Center. Gold and the others approached the monitor, so they could see what Silver was doing. He showed the protected folder.
"Hmm…" Crystal began to think and typed in something on the keyboard. She pressed enter and, amazingly, the folder was unlocked!
"H-How did you do that?" Silver asked, amazed.
"I typed in "Silver"."
Silver widened his eyes, astonished. He began to wonder why the password was his name.
"Why would it be "Silver"?"
"You're his son, after all. Doesn't matter if he didn't show a lot of concern or anything a father should, but you're his son. Even he couldn't be that heartless." Crystsal defended Giovanni. I don't know if that is positive or negative. My bad.
Silver smiled and thanked her, as they started reading the files.
Meanwhile, in the Tohjo Falls, someone in a dark suit, wearing a dark hat looked at his watch, which showed a display with multiple rambling lights that only he would understand.
"So? He finally managed to open the folder. This either means he finally accepted his father or had help from someone. Probably the second one." The moon stood up and opened 6 Poké Balls, letting out 6 Pokémons.
"Nidoking!"
"Nidoqueen!"
"Dug-Dug-Dugtrio!"
"Golem!"
"Sandslash!"
"Rhyperior!"
"Well, it took a while, but he opened the file." The man informed his Pokémons. "The second war of this era will start. But I won't participate in it. I will leave it to my son." Giovanni informed, sitting down on a rock. "I'm starting to get too old to enter battles like the one of 3 years ago and the one that is about to begin. But, then again, people who are a lot older than me are going to fight." Giovanni spoke, his Pokémons silent in order to hear his thoughts. After all, he needed a couple of ears to listen to him. But the question remains:
What is in those files?
And what is this war Giovanni is talking about?
…
Pokémons of the Day:
Hitmontop - Hitmontop moves more quickly by spinning on the spike on its head than it does by walking normally. Capable of spinning at high speeds, it may bore into the ground similar to a drill. While spinning, Hitmontop delivers smooth, graceful kicks such as its signature move, Triple Kick.
Magneton - Even though Magneton is a mechanical creature, it still has the need to eat. The food for Magneton consists of electrical currents. It is usually found in rough terrain, often near power plants. When sunspots flare up, Magneton tends to appear more often, presumably due to the changes in the sun's magnetic field. It has been shown that it possesses the ability to form its electricity into both platforms and barriers.
Pupitar - Since its arms and legs are developing inside the shell, Pupitar is capable of venting gas to propel itself around, and can generate enough forces to knock down mountains.
I know this was a bit rushed, mainly at the end, but I had no other choice. IT was taking far too long and the plot of the chapter was rather hard to develop. But I hope you enjoyed it, even though some reactions could be over the top. Well, see you next time. Oh, and please, don't forget to write a review if you don't mind, and also…
Bye, remember, BEAST OUT!
