"Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal: The Shining Adventure"

Chapter 16 – The Prince of Winter:

What will the little group of friends find in that Flash Drive? Ready to find out?

Silver and the others read the files they had just figured the password out for.

"These files don't seem out of the ordinary… A map of Johto?" Silver double clicked the image file and the computer showed an extremely detailed image of the Johto Region.

"Oh look! I can see my house from here!" Gold joked, but he literally could see his house in New Bark.

"I can see my home too." Ruby pointed out.

"My house id here too." Crystal pointed out, pointing at a house of CherryGroove City. Gold pointed down the address in secret (hehehe).

"Only two locations seem to be marked." Ruby pointed out, noticing two red dots on the map.

"The first one is on the Bell Tower."

"Where?" Gold didn't know the location Silver had just mentioned.

"It's in Ecruteak City, near the Brass Tower, also known as the Burned Tower." Crystal explained.

"Oh!" Gold figured it out. "The Burned Tower is where we found Raikou, Entei and Suicune for the first time."

"Exactly. The second location is the Whirl Islands." Silver continued.

"The Wirl Islands? I heard about that place." Ruby informed. "It's between Olivine City and Cianwood City. But it is surrounded by many Whirlpools, so unless you have a Pokémon able to fly you around or a Pokémon that can use the move Whirlpool, it's hard and dangerous to get there."

"Why would those two locations have in common? A Tower and an Island." Gold spoke, trying to crack the case.

"The other files are about the Legendary Birds, the Legendary Beasts, and the last two are about two Pokémons, called Ho-Oh and Lugia." Silver informed, but no one had heard about the two Pokémons he mentioned.

"Ho-Oh and Lugia? I thought they were just Legends." Crystal said, showing that she did know something about them. "But, then again, if the legend about the Legendary Beasts Raikou, Enteia dn Suicune are real, I guess that would easily mean that Ho-Oh wouldn't be a simple legend."

"What are the legends about them?" Ruby asked, curious about the Legendary Pokémons.

"I don't remember." Crystal shrugged. "I'm not a person of legends, I'm a person of facts and science."

"I guess we'll have to ask about this to someone more in touch with the matter. Right now, I have to go to sleep, since tomorrow I have the Gym Battle." Gold informed, making Silver turn off the computer. They all went to sleep (I don't know how Gold and Silver did manage to fall asleep, since they had to fall asleep on the floor).

The next day, Gold first had to make a call via the Poké center's PC.

"Jasmine?"

"Oh! Gold! Ruby! Hello there." The image of the Gym Leader formed on the screen, with Aipom on her shoulder.

"Eipa!"

"Is Aipom ready?" Ruby askd.

"Yup. Might have taken a little while, but his Iron Tail is amazingly strong." Jasmine informed, as she withdrew the purple Pokémon. "I'm sending him to you right now."

The Poké Ball appeared on the Transporter and it automatically opened, letting out Aipom. Aipom jumped and hugged Gold, making him laugh.

"It has only been a day, calm down." Gold chuckled, taking the Poké Ball into his pocket.

The group of Trainers (and Ruby) left the Poké Center and moved to the Gym of the Town. They opened the door and the temperature suddenly dropped. Gold closed the door in front of him and the temperature returned to normal. He opened the door, and the temperature dropped again. He repeated the process and the same puzzling event happened.

"…Is it just me, or is the gym a freezer?" Gold joked.

"Yup." Silver opened the Poké ball containing Magmar, whose body temperature was so high that would probably help them out. They entered the Gym, and managed to not freeze up, plus the fact that they wore Summer clothing wouldn't help. But Magmar would! Well, but even with the heat coming from the Fire Pokémon, it was considerably chilly.

They walked into the Gym and found a man with white hair. He seemed rather old, and wore a blue trench coat, a white scarf, brown shoes, beige trousers, and held a cane in his right hand, making support to his elder body.

"Umm… are you the Gym Leader?" Gold asked, in order to confirm the identity of the man standing on the other side of the room.

"Indeed I am."

"Then I'm here for the Badge! I challenge you for it!"

The man closed his eyes, as Silver, Crystal and Ruby sat down on the bench. "Pokémons have many experiences in their lives, just like we do. I, too, have seen and suffered much in my life. Since I am your elder, let me show you what I mean. I have been training Pokémon since before you were born. I do not lose easily. I, Pryce - the Winter Trainer - shall demonstrate my power!"

"Now we're talking!" Gold was starting to get pumped up, and Aipom was just as pumped up.

"It is a 5-on-3 battle." Pryce informed, leavingGold confused as to why he got to use 5 Pokémons but Pryce only 3. "Seel, to the battlefield."

He threw the Ball, making it open, letting out the little white Pokémon for the first round of the Gym battle. Gold used his Pokédex to analyze Seel, while Ruby noticed that Silver had disappeared.

"Seel, the Sea Lion Pokémon. A Pokémon that lives on icebergs. It swims in the sea using the point on its head to break up ice. Covered with light blue fur, its hide is thick and tough. It is active in bitter cold of -40 degrees Fahrenheit. The colder it gets, the better it feels. It joyfully swims around oceans so cold that they are filled with floating ice."

"A water type Pokémon? Well… Since this is an Ice Gym, I guess I'll save Quilava, Hitmonlee and Sudowoodo for later. So… Go, Electabuzz-aniki!"

"Erecaru!" Electabuzz stepped into the battlefield, ready for the battle.

"Seel, Icy Wind!"

"Seeeeel!" Seel took a deep breath and released a wind with shining blue dust towards Electabuzz.

"Light Screen!" Gold reacted as fast as he could. Electabuzz put his hand in front of himself and a box of yellow glass formed around him. The box blocked the wind, and then disappeared. "Now, defeat him with a Thunderbolt!"

"Erecaru!" Electabuzz released a strong bolt of electricity from his body, electrocuting Seel, making him faint.

"Seel, return. Dewgong, go!" Pryce sent in his next Pokémon, the evolved form of Seel.

"Dewgong!"

"Aurora Beam!"

"Thunderbolt!"

Degong's horn glowed and released a multicolored beam, while Electabuzz released another bolt of yellow electricity, but easily overcoming the beam easily, electrocuting Dewgong as well, leaving him tired.

"Dew…"

"Brick Break!"

"Ere!" Electabuzz jumped and raised his right arm up. He then karate chopped Dewgong, defeating him.

"Return." Pryce said, withdrawing Dewgong. "Now, the battle begins."

"Eh?"

"Piloswine, to the battlefield!" Pryce sent in his ace Pokémon to the battlefield. Gold used his Pokédex in order to obtain some data. Ruby then noticed that Silver had returned. He sweatdropped, knowing that Silver probably had fetched a Gym Badge for himself.

"Piloswine, the Swine Pokémon, and the evolved form of Swinub. Although its legs are short, its rugged hooves prevent it from slipping, even on icy ground. Because the long hair all over its body obscures its sight, it just keeps charging repeatedly. With its excellent sense of smell, it's even able to find mushrooms that are buried under frozen ground. Covered by a shaggy coat, it is strong against the cold. Its tusks of ice thicken when it snows."

"Alright… Since Piloswine is a ground type, I guess electric attacks won't work. Electabuzz, Brick Break!"

"Blizzard!" Pryce countered. Piloswine stood on his short legs and released a blizzard from his body, pushing Electabuzz away. Electabuzz collided against one of the small ice pillars on the ice floor, breaking it in collision.

"Aniki!"

"E…Re…" Electabuzz tried to stand up the best he could.

"Earthquake." Pryce requested. Piloswine stood on his hind legs and then slammed his front legs against the floor, imprinting their footprint deep into the ice, sending white shockwaves towards Electabuzz, while making the entire Gym shake.

The shockwaves hit Electabuzz and he was sent against another ice pillar, making him faint.

"Aniki, no!" Gold said, worried for Electabuzz. He withdrew him and moved on to his next choice.

"Sudowoodo, let's go!"

"Sudo-woodo!"

"Wood Hammer!" Sudowoodo dashed at Piloswine and the green orbs on his right arm began to glow brightly. He jumped and was ready to slam his hand against his opponent.

"Mud Bomb!"

"Pilo!" Piloswine took a deep breath and fired a large ball of brown mud against Sudowoodo, slamming it against his body and exploding on contact, sending Sudowodo back against the floor in pain.

"Aniki! Grrr… Hammer Arm then!"

"Sudo!" Sudowoodo jumped up and stood on his feet. "Sudowoodo!" Sudowoodo dashed again, his arms glowing gold.

"Piloswine, Ice Beam." Pryce requested, as Piloswine formed a light blue orb in front of his mouth and released multiple beams, which froze Sudowoodo up.

"Sudowoodo!" Gold called.

"Take Down."

"Swine!" Piloswine dashed forward and slammed his body against Sudowoodo, pushing him away.

"Su… Do…"

"Fury Attack."

"Pilo-Swine!" Piloswine quickly slammed his tusks continuously against Sudowoodo's body, making him faint and fall unconscious.

"Return." Gold withdrew Sudowoodo and then saw that Aipom wanted to battle. "Aipom, want some action?"

"Eipa!" Aipom jumped from his shoulder and then danced around on the battlefield.

"Iron Tail!"

"Fury Attack!"

Aipom jumped up and his tail flashed white, turning into iron and slammed it right between Piloswine's tusks, pushing him away and stopping his attack.

"Ice Beam!"

"Swift!"

Piloswine formed a light blue orb in front of his mouth and released multiple light blue beams from it, as Aipom's tail glowed yellow and released multiple golden star-shaped projectiles by waving it, but the beams froze the stars easily, shattering them.

"Focus Punch!"

"Blizzard!"

Aipom ran up to Piloswine, with his tail hand clenched into a fist and surrounded in a blue aura, but Piloswine released a blizzard out of his body, pushing Aipom away aganst another ice pillar, which broke in collision.

"Aipom, no!"

"Take Down." Piloswine charged uncontrollably towards the chunks of ice, shattering them into dust and sending Aipom against the wall, unconscious. Gold approached his Pokémon and picked him up.

"Are you ok, Aniki?"

"Pa." Aipom nodded, but could continue the battle. He put Aipom on his shoulder so he could continue watching the battle.

"Hitmonlee, let's go!" Gold threw the Poké Ball, sending in his kicking Pokémon.

"Hitmon!"

"Piloswine, Earthquake."

"Hi Jump Kick!"

Piloswine slammed his front legs against the floor again, causing another earthquake, but Hitmonlee was unaffected due to his high jump. He pointed his bent knee at Piloswine, ready to kick his body.

"Dodge."

"Uh?"

Piloswine slipped throughout the icy floor, getting out of the way of Hitmonlee's attack.

"Hit?!" Hitmonlee became wide eyed ad hit his knee against the icy floor, hurting himself. "Lee!" He yelled in pain, holding his knee.

"Hitmonlee, no!"

"Piloswine, Take Down!"

"Pilo!" Piloswine charged furiously at Hitmonlee.

"Hitmonlee, Mega Kick!" Gold warned. Hitmonlee stood up, his back facing Piloswine. Hitmonlee's foot became surrounded in red energy and he spun using the other foot, making a spin kick.

Piloswine and Hitmonlee's attacks crossed, making a match of power and will. Hitmonlee and Piloswine stood still, waiting for one to back out. Unfortunately, Hitmonlee fell, unconscious. Gold feared that Piloswine was so powerful that even Quilava wouldn't match. Electabuzz, Sudowoodo, Aipom and Hitmonlee were all powerful fighters, and they all had some sort of type advantage. But he didn't back out even for a single second.

"Quilava-Aniki, let's win this!"

"Qui!" Quilava barked, facing Piloswine.

"Blizzard!"

"Flame Wheel!"

Piloswine released a blizzard from his body at Quilava, but Quiloava's flames ignited and he curled up into a ball and began to spin like a wheel, making the flames spread around his body. Quilava soared through the air and slammed against Piloswine, making him back off. Quilava stoped spinning, returning to normal, landing on his feet.

"Aerial Ace!"

"Take Down!"

Quilava dashed, looking like a blur, while Piloswine charged furiously. The crossed paths, but barely missed each other, making Piloswine hit one of the ice pillars, shattering it, and then turning around.

"Flamethrower!"

"Ice Beam!"

Quilava released a stream of fire from his mouth while Piloswine repeated the attack the he used to freeze Sudowoodo. The attacks collided, but to no effect.

"Swift!"

"Fury Attack!"

Quilava released multiple golden stars from his mouth at Piloswine, but due to his charging power, they didn't make any effect, and Piloswine slammed his tusks multiple times, sending Quilava against one of the ice pillars.

"Aniki, no!" Gold spoke, fearing that he would lose the match, also worried about Quilava.

"Qui!" Quilava jumped out of the chunks, but something seemed wrong with him. "QUILAVAAAAAA!" he howled, and his body began to glow light blue, altering his body, standing on his hind legs. His red eyes opened and the glow vanished. "TYPHLOSION!"

Gold used his Pokédex in order to know more about Typhlosion.

"Typhlosion, the Volcano Pokémon, and the evolved form of Quilava. It attacks using blasts of fire. It creates heat shimmers with intense fire to hide itself. It has a secret, devastating move. It rubs its blazing fur together to cause huge explosions. If its rage peaks, it becomes so hot that anything that touches it will instantly go up in flames."

"Alright! Ready to continue?"

"Ty!" Typhlosion looked at Gold with a glare and barked, making Gold and Aipom shiver in fear.

"I-If you don't mind, of course." Gold requested, sweatdropping, fearing that Typhlosion had changed attitude.

"Sion." Typhlosion winked and spit out his tongue, showing that he was just tricking Gold.

"Oh yeah? Typhlosion, Eruption!"

Typhlosion lowered his body and released a geyser of orange flames against Piloswine, damaging his body strongly, for once.

"Blizzard!"

"Lava Plume!"

Piloswine released yet another blizzard from his body, but Typhlosion created an explosion around him creating a mix of smog and fire, covering the area. The smoke and the winds collided, but the flames managed to reach Piloswine, hurting him.

"Take Down!"

Piloswine charged at Typhlosion, like nothing could stop him.

"Rock Smash on the Floor!" Gold came up with a plan. Typhlosion clenched his brownish glowing fist and slammed it against the ground, making some icicles rise.

Piloswine passed through the icicles, but didn't find Typhlosion.

"Pilo?" Piloswine looked around and then looked up, finding a spinning orb of fire.

"TYPHLOSION!" Typhlosion slammed his body against Piloswine, smashing him against the floor and creating a wild explosion. Gold and Pryce both had to protect themselves from the shockwave by using their arms. The dark cloud of smoke which appeared form the explosion soon dissipated, showing that Piloswine had fainted.

"We did it, Typhlosion!" Gold spoke, running towards Typhlosion. His Pokémon turned around and they hugged in an act of victory.

"I am impressed by your prowess. With your strong will, I know you will overcome all life's obstacles. You are worthy of this Badge!" Pryce said, handing Gold the Glacier Badge.

"Thank you, Pryce." Gold thanked, as Typhlosion and Aipom got to reencounter. Aipom and Typhlosion, even though they had different sizes compared to when they met the first time, they were still friends, despite Typhlosion's new appearance.

The group of teens and Ruby (why am I excluding him so much) left the Gym after saying goodbye to Pryce, and went to the Poké Center, in order to heal Typhlosion and the others who battled. But when he left the Poké Center, they received a call from Professor Elm.

"Professor Elm? What's the matter?" Gold asked, answering the Poké Gear.

"Gold, it's terrible! Team Rocket is sending messages from the Radio Tower informing that they've taken over the Radio Tower and are spreading the word!"

"Don't worry, Professor Elm, we're on it!"

"We?"

"Oh, me, Crystal and-?!" Silver covered Gold's mouth and then showed him his grey-silver Pokédex and the Poké Ball containing Croconaw, saying that if Gold spoke his name, he would be caught and would have to return the Pokédex and Croconaw. "And Ruby, a friend of mine." Gold swapped, but Ruby felt a bit out of place.

"Then go to Goldenrod City and stop them!"

"Yes sir!" Gold spoke, turning off the PokéGear.

And so, they had to go their separate ways due to transportation. Gold and Ruby had to share Togetic, while Silver and Crystal shared Murkrow. Crystal insisted of going by herself on Xatu, but Gold insisted that the less aerial vehicles, the less time they would waste.

Gold and Ruby arrived at Goldenrod City before Crystal and Silver, and so they decided to go on their own. For the time being. They saw that there were Grunts everywhere, blocking most buildings. They entered the Radio Tower, but the Grunt blocking the staircase (there's a phrase I never imagined I would type) was pretty sure about not wanting to battle and not letting anyone go past him except members of Team Rocket.

So they decided to try to go through another route, this is, the Goldenrod Tunnel.

"Who are you?" one of the Grunts apparently spotted them.

"We?! We are…" Gold knew he should be sneaky for this mission, but couldn't come up with a plan. But Ruby did.

"We're new Grunts!"

"Where's the uniforms then?"

"Since there were so many new recruits, some of us ended up without uniforms." Ruby lied as naturally as he talked! Gold was amazed by his ability.

"I see… well, you're lucky, because I have these uniforms I fetched from a theater. Here, go ahead."

Ruby and Gold put on the uniforms over their original clothes, and they now looked like Team Rocket Grunts. They left the Tunnel, and returned to the Radio Tower.

"Wow, Ruby, that was amazing!"

"It's easy when you had some acting classes."

Gold laughed. "Acting… classes?"

As a reaction, Ruby glared at his friend. "Hey, they helped us, so no mocking."

Gold stayed silent, and they entered the Radio Tower. But then Silver and Crystal arrived to the city. Will something be ruined? Who knows…

Pokémons of the Day:

Seel - Its warm fur and thick hide allow it to swim in waters as cold as -40°F.. It thrives in these cold environments, becoming more active as the temperature drops. Preferring to sleep during the day, it hunts for prey under sheets of ice in the late day and evening hours. While it is a graceful swimmer, it is awkward and struggles to move on dry land.

Piloswine - It has floppy ears that are sensitive to sound. Piloswine has two beady eyes in its head; however, these are usually covered up by tufts of fur. As it is usually unable to see, it checks surroundings with its sensitive pig-like nose instead. Its hair is so long that it usually covers its small, hoofed legs. Despite the small size of its legs, these hooves ensure even footing on icy ground.

Hope you liked the Gym Battle. But what will happen in the next chapter? Will old characters reappear to help? I really have to take that seminar about spoilers… Well, see you next time. Oh, and please, don't forget to write a review if you don't mind, and also…

Bye, remember, BEAST OUT!
