"Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal: The Shining Adventure"
Chapter 17 – Control Over Radio Tower Regained:
Regaining the control of the Radio Tower: will it be easier than said?
Gold and Ruby, disguised as Team Rocket Grunts, returned to the Radio Tower.
"Uh?"
"We're new grunts. They ordered us to go to the upper floor." Ruby informed to the guard, as Gold made his best to look a mean teen.
"Ok, you can go."
"Wait a minute!" Gold and Ruby turned, seeing the familiar red head running towards them with a furious look. "What is with those uniforms?! You think you'll look tough by using them?!"
"W-Wait, Silver!" Gold spoke, but it was too late. Silver had taken away and shredded the uniforms to pieces.
"Wait a minute, you're the kids from before!" The grunt noted, leaving Silver confused. "I won't let you get past here! Weepinbell, go!"
"Weepinbell!"
"Razor Leaf!"
"Wee-?!" Weepinbell was about to attack, but then stopped, afraid of Gold's Typhlosion, who had just come out of his Poké Ball. His glare made Weepinbell and the Grunt run away.
"Good thing you can now look scary." Gold pat Typhlosion's non-burning back, which made Typhlosion smile.
"Oh! You were tryin to be sneaky." Silver finally understood the reason to why Gold and Ruby had Team Rocket uniforms on.
"Gee! You don't say?!" Ruby said sarcastically, glaring at Silver. After all, it was his plan that was ruined. Crystal soon joined in, and they filled her in on the situation. But either way!
They climbed up the stairs, and found the floor full of Team Rocket Grunts! But they were nothing Gold, Silver and Crystal couldn't take care of. Meanwhile, Ruby would free the hostages, who were tied up. And on of the hostages was none other than… DJ Mary!
"Thank you." DJ Mary thanked, as she stood up.
"You're welcome." Ruby spoke. But Gold entered the conversation.
"Could you please give me an autograph?! I'm your biggest fan!"
"Gold, we don't have time for that!" Crystal warned.
"And could you give me an autograph too?"
"Not you too, Ruby!"
"Could you please give me one too?"
"Even you, Silver?!"
"Well, of course." DJ Mary answered.
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me." Crystal spoke to herself, facepalming.
But after the boys managed to obtain their signed autographs by DJ Mary (which they would treasure for the rest of their lives), they climbed up to the final floor, and found the director!
"I am the Director. We have decided to broadcast wonderful shows to praise Team Rocket! Everyone, I don't want to hear you complain. Just do a good job to-" He then noticed the little group of defenders in the room. "Yikes!" he jumped off his chair, making his hat fall off, revealing the purple hair. "S-S-Silver and company!"
"How come my name is always forgotten?" Gold wondered. The RADIO Director took off his face (I know, weird), revealing to be Petrel in disguise!
"You won't stop me from influencing the entire region to support Team Rocket! Go, my minions!"
Petrel sent in 5 Pokémons: Weezing, Quagsire, Raticate, Sunflora and Granbull.
"Togetic, Hitmonlee!"
"Bayleef!"
"Magmar, Ursaring!"
The three teens sent in Pokémons so they would have type advantages. And boy, was the battle quick. Togetic's Extrasensory easily knocked out Weezing, Bayleef's Razor Leaf made Quagsire faint, Hitmonlee's Rolling Kick defeated Raticate, Magmar's flamethrower burned Sunflora to a crisp, and Ursaring's Focus Blast made Granbull unconscious.
"Ok, where's the Director?!" Silver asked, grabbing Petrel by the collar, trying to get an answer out of him.
"W-W-We stashed the real Director in the Underground Warehouse! It's at the far end of the Goldenrod Tunnel! H-Here! You can take the Basement Key!" Petrel was as scared as anyone could be. After all, Silver was glaring with such a frightening impression that it would be amazing if no one wet their pants. Silver took the key and lead the way back to the Goldenrod Tunnel.
It didn't take long to find the Director, who was tied up on the corner of a room. They cut off the ropes with the help of Sneasel, and he thanked them.
"Thank you! The Radio Tower! What's happening there?"
"Team Rocket has taken over it!" Ruby informed.
"Taken over by Team Rocket? Here. Take this Card Key." The Director handed the Card to Gold. "Use that to open the shutters on the third floor. I'm begging you all to help. There's no telling what they'll do if they control the transmitter. They may even be able to control Pokémons using a special signal! You're the only ones I can call on. Please save the Radio Tower... And all the Pokémon nationwide!"
"On it!" Gold answered, dashing away, followed by Crystal, Silver and Ruby.
When they reached the Radio Tower again, Gold asked Ruby to stay behind and look over the Grunts and the people, protecting them if necessary. Despite Ruby objecting (not knowing how he would protect others), Gold and the others climbed up the stairs. At the third floor, they opened a locked door with the Card Key. But after walking through a short hall, they were greeted by Proton.
"Now, wait just one second there. Aren't you the one who got in our way at the Slowpoke Well?"
Gold was happy to finally get a moment of recognition. "You bet!"
"I see… You're doing all this because you want to make me angry. Be careful! But since you seem to wish it, I'll show you the full extent of a Team Rocket Executive's wrath!" Proton declared, as he dropped 4 Poké Balls, letting out his Pokémons: Golbat, Weezing, Furret, Sandslash, Jigglypuff and Lickitung.
"Gold, Crystal, go right ahead." Silver spoke, as he opened three Poké Balls, letting out Croconaw, Sneasel and Magneton so they could battle.
"But, Silver, what about-?"
Crystal was interrupted by his answer. "You two are the ones who'll take down Team Rocket! Now Go!" Silver's command was replied with a nod coming from Gold. The two teens managed to pass through Proton and go to the next room, while Silver and Proton talked.
"You changed."
"For the best." Silver replied. "Ice Fang on Golbat!"
Croconaw's teeth began to glow white, releasing chilling cold air, and he bit down Golbat's wing, freezing it. "Croco!"
"Lickitung, Lick!"
"Water Gun!" Lickitung dashed towards Croconaw, ready to lick him with her incredibly long tongue, but Croconaw released a spiral of water from his mouth, pushing her back.
"CRO-conaw!" Croconaw began to glow light blue, and his body began to change, increasing in size. Then, his new form was revealed. "Fera-ligatr!"
Silver used his Pokédex. "Feraligatr, the Big Jaw Pokémon, and the evolved form of Croconaw. It usually moves slowly, but it goes at blinding speed when it attacks and bites prey. When it bites with its massive and powerful jaws, it shakes its head and savagely tears its victim up. It is hard for it to support its own weight out of water, so it sometimes gets down on all fours. But it moves fast."
"Feraligatr." Silver called, making his savage Pokémon turn. Feraligatr turned and was surprised to see his Trainer with a smile of confidence. "Superpower!"
"Fera!" Feraligatr becomes surrounded in a light blue aura and he charged against Lickitung's body, knocking her out easily.
Moving on to Gold and Crystal. They moved to the fifth floor, and then found Ariana, with two of her Pokémons: Magcargo and Octillery.
"Oh! If it isn't Silver-kun's friends." She spoke, as her Magcargo and Octillery who were by her feet moved frontwards, so they would be able to battle. Their grins seemed eager for a battle.
"Gold, I'll take care of her! Go!" Crystal, making the same sacrifice as Silver. Gold took out his skateboard and Pool cue, passing right through the Pokémons by scaring them with the pool cue, threatening to hit and hurt them.
"So… Only you? All alone? I guess that means it will be easy to defeat you." Ariana guessed, as she dropped some more Poké Balls, letting out a Hopip, a Scyther, a Shellder and a Krabby.
"You wish! Hitmonchan! Blissey! Rhydon! Bayleef!" Crystal sent in half of her current Pokémons.
"Octillery, Fire Blast!"
"Bayleef, Protect!"
Octillery fired a blast of fire from its mouth at his opponents which formed into a 大 shape, but Bayleef easily blocked it with a green barrier she created.
"Bay-Bay!"
"Razor Leaf!"
"Bay!" Bayleef whipped her head, waving the leaf on her head, releasing multiple razor-sharp leaves at her opponents, making damage to all of them.
"Good job!" Crystal cheered, but then Bayleef began to glow and change shape, transforming into her final form. "Meganium!"
"Wow, you evolved!" Crystal said happily, as she used her Pokédex in order to know more about Meganium's new abilities.
"Meganium, the Herb Pokémon, and the evolved form of Bayleef. Its breath has the fantastic ability to revive dead plants and flowers. The aroma that rises from its petals contains a substance that calms aggressive feelings. Anyone who stands beside it becomes refreshed, just as if they were relaxing in a sunny forest."
"Let's go, Meganium! SolarBeam!"
Gold moved on the the final floor and room of the building. GToo bad that it was a broom closet. But he then quickly moved to the almost final room, and found the last obstacle on his way. The final executive of Team Rocket: a man in a Rocket white uniform and with hair and eyes, with an evil look.
"Oh? You managed to get this far?"
"Who are you?" Gold asked, pointing his pool cue to his future opponent.
"My name is Archer. And I say, you must be quite the Trainer. We intend to take over this Radio Tower and officially announce our comeback."
"Why?" Gold asked, actually feeling curious.
"That should bring our boss, Giovanni, back from his solitary training. We are going to regain our former glory… And I will not allow you to interfere with our meticulous plans!" Archer spoke with a malicious tone, dropping 6 Poké Balls: they let out a Tentacool, a Stantler, a Pinsir, a Marowak, a Doduo and a Psyduck. Every each Pokémon had such a malicious look that it was actually scary. But that wouldn't stop Gold from battling.
"Typhlosion! Hitmonlee! Electabuzz!"
The three Pokémons came out of their Poké Balls, and they were ready to follow their Trainer's commands.
"Tentacool, Psyduck, use Water Pulse!"
Tentacool and Psyduck both formed a blue orb in front of their bodies and fired them towards Typhlosion.
"Electabuzz, Thunder!"
"Ere!" Electabuzz jumped to the front of the battlefield. Electabuzz gathered electricity between the horn on his head a fired a yellow blast of electricity, easily destroying the orbs and hitting the water type Pokémons, electrocuting them and making them faint. Archer wasn't really concerned, since they were his weakest Pokémons. He withdrew them and proceeded with the battle.
"Pinsir, Submission!"
"Hitmonlee, Mega Kick!"
"Sir!" Pinsir dashed, head low, wanting to trap Hitmonlee between his horns, but Hitmonlee kicked him up with his right foot, which was surrounded in red energy. The kick made Pinsir back off, but not Archer.
"Guillotine!"
"Rolling Kick!"
Before Piunsir could make his one hit KO attack, Hitmonlee spun over his right foot and kicked him with his left foot, making Pins spin.
"Now, Flamethrower!"
"Ty!" Typhlosion releases a stream of red-orange fire and it hits Pinsir easily, burning him into a crisp, making him faint. Archer withdrew him, but now showing more concern.
"Stantler, Psychic! Doduo, Tri-Attack! Marowak, Ice Beam!"
Gold threw the remaining elements of his current Team: Aipom, Sudowoodo, Mantine and Togetic.
"Flamethrower! Swift! Extrasensory! Thunderbolt! Rock Slide! Bullet Seed! Hidden Power!"
Typhlosion released a stream of fire, Aipom released multiple golden stars, Togetic released a multicolored beam, Electabuzz released a yellow thunderbolt from his body, Sudowoodo fired multiple rocks, Mantine fired golden seeds from her mouth, and Hitmonlee created and fired a green orb of energy. The attacks easily swallowed the opponents, and they fainted. Gold and Aipom approached archer, who now showed fear. Gold had a grin of cockiness, just like Aipom.
"How could this be…? Our dreams have come to naught. I was not up to the task after all. Like Giovanni has done before me, I will disband Team Rocket here today. Farewell…" Archer left the building. On his way back, gold found Crystal and Silver, who had defeated Proton and Ariana with ease, and was amazed to see Feraligatr and Meganium. The Tema Rocket Grunts all left the building, and the teens returned to the entrance of the Radio Tower, meeting up with ruby again, who was also amazed to see Feraligatr and Meganium. For gold's surprise, there was also a Kimono Girl at the entrance. She was named Kuni, and Gold was happy to see another one of the Kimono Girls. She explained that she was there in order to stop Team Rocket as well, but Ruby wouldn't let her pass. This made Ruby sweatdrop in embarrassment, but he soon got over it.
Either way, the little group said goodbye to the Kimono Girl, Kuni, and flew back to Mahogany City, so they knew where to start. They went through an icy cave (kinda ironic since they are in the beginning of the summer), where they find and meet the final Kimono Girl, Sayo, who was apparently lost in the icy floor puzzle. But Gold and the others managed to help her out, and they all left the cave. Sayo went her own way, and they continued walking, as the sun began to set, making the sky orange. They actually came across Entei! And Silver entered the same trance state Crystal and Gold entered when they met Suicune and Raikou respectively. But, just like the two beasts before, Entei left and Silver returned to normal. Weirdly, no one ever talked about that after.
"What is that?" Ruby asked, pointing at the sky. He spotted a whle swarm of some sort of flying Pokémons travelling throughout the sky. Gold pointed up his Pokédex in order to get information.
"Gligar, the Fly Scorpion Pokémon. It usually clings to cliffs. When it spots its prey, it spreads its wings and glides down to attack. It flies straight at its target's face then clamps down on the startled victim to inject poison."
"Gli!"
"Uh?" Gold looked up and saw a Gligar who screeched, flying at a very fast speed when compared to the rest of the flock (or is it swarm? I mean, they are scorpions!). Gligar then turned around and flew down… right towards Gold's face.
"Gar!" Gligar clamped onto Gold's face, and the other three feared that the Gligar would poison Gold. Surprisingly (even for Gligar) was that Gold seemed to be relaxed. Gold walked towards a nearby tree, tilted back and then slammed his head against the tree, hurting Gligar's back and making him fall off his face.
"Phew, I was worried for a moment there."
"You sure seemed relaxed." Ruby spoke, feeling that Gold was lying through his teeth.
"Gli!" Gligar stood back on his feet, posing for a battle.
"He looks like he is interested in you." Crystal noticed, making Gold glance back at Gligar.
"Hmm… Mantine, Ice Beam." Gold spoke, letting out Mantine, who froze Gligar with a light blue beam. The other three sweatdropped, seeing how bluntly Gold was taking this. Gold threw a Fast Ball Kurt gave him back in Azalea Town, and caught Gligar easily. But after that, he withdrew Mantine and let out Gligar, making a proper introduction.
And then, the four teens and the Flying Pokémon finally arrived at Blackthorn City.
Pokémons of the Day:
Feraligatr - Feraligatr is agile and fast, due to its powerful hind legs that are used to kick the ground hard and charge.
Meganium - Meganium's petals can release an aroma that can soothe anyone that comes in contact with it and can calm aggressive feelings, and its breath has the power to revive dead grass and plants. Its powerful and soothing regenerative powers can even come about by being around it, giving those who stand near the impression of being in a clean and lush forest.
Gligar - Gligar can emit sound waves to detect obstacles and fly around them. It glides smoothly and silently through the air with its limbs extended, and startles its prey and enemies by flying straight toward them. It attacks by clamping onto its enemy's face with its clawed hind legs and pincers, then jabbing it with its poisonous stinger.
Well, I know this chapter was very rushed, especially at the end. But excuse me, I have a test tomorrow, so I guess it is justified. But, well, Gold obtained his eight teammate, and finally arrived to the final Gym City, but is his adventure really over? And is Team Rocket really disbanded? Well, see you next time. Oh, and please, don't forget to write a review if you don't mind, and also…
Bye, remember, BEAST OUT!
