Chapter 22 -I Want You To Want Me... To Go To Florida-
TEDDY POV-
"Spence, where will we go?"
"The only place that I can think of that they wouldn't. Florida."
"Florida? Like, Florida Florida?"
"Yes Teddy, I have friends there, and it's the only place that I can think of so far."
"I'll go and tell my parents. They'll want an explanation."
"Hey, be careful. Maybe you should take Noah, let your parents see him one last time."
"We're not planning on moving there, are we?"
"Teddy, I want you safe."
"I can't just drop, everything and go… What about my friends, what about your parents?"
"No, Teddy. You have to listen to me. Go to your parents' house, say goodbye. I'll be here when you get back."
"Okay. Spence, protect the kids."
"Take Noah."
"I will. Bye." I say kissing him before I grab Noah and head to my parents' house.
DUNCAN HOUSE- TEDDY POV-
When I get to the door I ring the doorbell, and almost instantly my mom answers it.
"Teddy?"
"Hi mom." Then she goes in and hugs me really tight.
"Oof, I saw you yesterday. What's wrong?" I follow.
"Come in." Then she gestures inside, and I enter. The house still looks the same as it did 10 years ago, when I was a teenager, that didn't have any kids.
"Mom, what's wrong?" I ask once again as soon as I'm inside.
"Charlie's missing."
"What?" I say scared.
"She didn't come home today after school."
"It's only been a few hours mom. Could she have gone to a friend's?"
"She didn't tell us. She know that she has to tell us before she goes to a friend's. Or at least text or call."
"You should look for her."
"Your dad's out looking right now."
"Mom, I uh. Have some news too."
"What?"
"Spence, the kids, and I are going to Miami."
"As in Florida?"
"Yeah."
"Why Teddy?"
"The reason why we had to cancel the party."
"Oh, is that why your going to Florida?"
"Yes."
"Honey, please don't go."
"Mom, I- I need to."
"No, you don't need to go. It's not like you're in danger."
"Did Spence or I tell you what I found on the dresser?"
"No, what'd you find?"
"Here." I say handing the thing that was on the dresser to my mom.
(A/N: Now I bet y'all are DYING to know what was on the dresser, aren't ya? ;) Well, I can't tell you. Well, I could buuuutttt… I don't want to! XD Don't hate the writer, hate the game. Haha, see what I did there? I'm gonna go now ._. Later gators!)
"Honey, I don't want you going."
"Well, I'm an adult, and I can make my own decisions."
"We'll help you, your father will-"
"No mom. I don't want you helping me. I want to do things for myself. I'm an adult, and I need to learn how to do things for myself. I'm sorry."
"So you just disappear?"
"Until everything dies down again. Things were okay for 7 years, then everything started again. Is it because I just had another baby?"
"No honey, you know who just got out of jail?"
"He's on probation."
"Does that mean he'll play by the rules?"
"I don't know mom. I just know the kids, Spence and I need to leave before something happens again."
"Will you at least help look for your little sister?" The moment she said little sister, it hit me. My little sister was missing. And I was worried about myself. How could I do that and not at least help look for her? I had to.
"Yeah. I'll let Spence look after the kids, then you, Gabe, dad, and I will go look for her."
"Okay. Thank you Teddy."
"Yeah. I'll go drop Noah off at the house, then we'll start looking."
"Thank you."
"She's my little sister. It's the least I could do mom."
Then I go out to the car and buckle in Noah.
HOME- TEDDY POV-
"Spence, Charlie's gone." Then he just looks at me like I'm kidding.
"Don't joke about that Teddy. This is too serious."
"I'm not kidding, she didn't come home from school."
"Come on, let's go look."
"No, someone needs to look after the kids, and I'm her sister. I'll go, you watch the kids."
"Okay, be safe. Please."
"I will Spence, you too."
"I will." Then he kisses me and I leave.
DUNCAN HOUSE- TEDDY POV-
When I get into the driveway and turn off my car I get out and meet my mom, who was standing outside.
"You ready?" My mom asks.
"Yeah, is everyone else ready?"
"Yeah. Gabe's really worried. Everyone is."
"Where's Toby?"
"At a friend's, it's the last day of school, and so he went to a friend's house."
"Is he answering your texts?"
"Yeah."
"Okay, let's go." I say, then my dad, Gabe, and Ivy come out of the house.
"Ivy?" I say.
"Yeah. I'm worried about her too T."
"Okay. Well, let's go. Where do we start?"
"Ivy, Teddy, you two go to her friends' houses and ask them where they saw her last. Gabe, Bob and I will go to all the local places where she might be. Her phone could've died, so if you find her, don't yell at her for not answering." My mom says. Then Ivy and I get in my car and drive off.
"Where do you want to go first?" Ivy asks while I'm driving.
"I don't know, it's the last day of school, so high scholars will be partying, that's for sure. She'd better not be at one of those parties or I swear I'll-"
"T, calm down. She's good, she wouldn't do that, you know it."
"She's in 7th grade, she'd do anything to fit in with the cool kids. Even if it means drinking underage. I don't know why she'd do that, if she does."
"T, don't act like you're perfect. You got pregnant at 16."
"I know Ivy. Let's go here." I say pulling into a driveway that had a lot of cars parked there.
When I get up to the door I ring the doorbell. Then a teenager opened the door.
"Yeah?"
"Is anyone here with the name Charlie Duncan?"
"Yeah, come in. You her mom?"
"No, I'm her older sister." Then I step in and Ivy follows. The house smelled like beer, and drugs.
When I meet Charlie's eyes, she gets scared.
"Teddy?"
"Come here, now." I say, getting even more mad. Ivy grabs my arm, signaling me to calm down.
"Yeah?"
"Do you want to explain why you're in a house that smells like beer and drugs?"
"Uh. Not really." She says then laughs like I was messing around.
"Come on." I say pulling her out of the house and into the yard, rage on my face.
"What the hell were you thinking?!"
"Calm down, it's not like I drank or did any drugs." She says smiling.
"This is no joking matter! Mom and dad were worried sick about you!" I say, then stop.
"Why do you smell like beer?" I follow getting even angrier.
"Someone spilled it on me!"
"Oh really?"
"Yeah! Come on Teddy, stop acting like you wouldn't do anything to look cool. High scholars invited me to a high school party."
"Charlie, mom and dad taught you to be who you are, and not to fall under peer pressure."
"But you had babies when you were 17! Stop acting like you never did anything bad or to look cool."
"Spence and I didn't choose to have the twins, that happened. And I didn't do it to look cool. I was against abortion, so I had them. Besides, it's not about me right now, it's about you. When mom smells you she's going to freak."
"Teddy, please don't let her kill me."
"She won't kill you, but she'll definitely ground you until you're my age. If it were my choice, I'd ground you until you were 80. But she'll definitely give you a huge talking to and ground you for a while."
"I won't do it again, I promise."
"That's not going to get you out of this. Get in the car. Come on Ivy, I gotta get this rebel child home so I can go pack." I say, then we start walking to the car.
"What do you mean pack?" Charlie asks.
"It doesn't matter. Get buckled up." I say starting the car.
DUNCAN HOUSE- TEDDY POV-
When I pull up, my parents are standing on the porch.
"Where's Gabe?" I ask getting out of the car.
"He went home, Lauren called him sounding worried." My dad says.
"I'd better get home. Bye T." Ivy says going back home.
"And what is that god awful smell?" My mom says when Charlie gets out of the car.
"When I texted you saying I found her, yeah. I didn't tell you where, because I figured Charlie would like to tell you."
"Charlie? Something you need to explain?" My dad asks.
"Nope, I'm good."
"Charlie." I say.
"Charlotte Duncan." My mom says seriously.
"I was at, a uh, party." Charlie says.
"Yeah, and uh, tell them what kind." I say.
"A high school party." Charlie mumbles.
"Charlie, a little louder." I say.
"A high school party." Charlie says.
"You're missing the most important part Charlie." I say again.
"Charlie?" My mom asks. Charlie just looks down ashamed.
"A high school party with beer and drugs." I say, since Charlie obviously wasn't going to say anything.
"A what?" My mom asks showing rage as I did when I found out. Maybe she was a little more mad though.
"I didn't do any drugs or drink!" Charlie says.
"Then why do you smell like beer?" My dad asks.
"Someone spilled it on me! I swear! Please, you have to believe me."
"Charlie." Mom says.
"Ugh!" Then Charlie storms inside the house.
"Teddy, why don't you go, I'll-" My mom says, but I interrupt her.
"Can I talk to her? Please, you've talked to all of them, I wanna talk to Charlie." I say.
"Yeah, I guess. She'll probably listen to you better anyway. Gabe did that one time." Mom says then I go inside to talk to Charlie.
CHARLIE'S BEDROOM- TEDDY POV-
When I get to the basement, where Charlie's room is -my old room- she's sitting on my old bed.
"Charlie? Can I talk to you?" I say opening the door.
"If you're going to yell at me, no."
"I won't yell."
"Promise?"
"Promise." I say coming in.
"Then what?"
"I want the real truth, why you went to that party."
"Some of my friends were there, and they wanted me to come. So, I went."
"You could've at least texted mom."
"Someone wanted to text someone so I lent it to them, but they never gave it back."
"Okay. Why did someone spill beer on you since you said you didn't drink any."
"These high scholars wanted me to drink, but I said no. So they said that I shouldn't be such a wimp, and shook it up and spilled it on me."
"Well, they were all drinking underage, so I hope they all will get in trouble. But I need to tell you something Char."
"What?"
"No matter how much someone wants you to drink, or do drugs, or have sex, it's your choice. I want you to choose right, what you think mom will praise you for. You probably don't remember, but dad got super upset when I told him I was pregnant the first time. And the next time, was worse. I don't want you going through what I had to, whether it's with drinking, drugs, or sex. I love you, and care about you."
"I love you too. I just feel like the unimportant one sometimes."
"Why?"
"Because, PJ's the oldest, you got pregnant at 16 and were the smartest, Gabe was the trouble maker, Toby's just like Gabe just not that bad. I'm just plain."
"Plain is good sometimes. Plus, I didn't ask to get pregnant. I was being stupid, and that got me pregnant. So technically I'm not the smartest."
"Teddy, you got all A's and occasionally B's. You're the perfect child."
"Psh. That's the funniest joke I've heard in a long time. Char, I'm far from perfect."
"How do you not get in trouble?"
"I don't fall under peer pressure, and I do what my heart says is right. Don't listen to others, unless it's mom and dad, listen to yourself. Okay?"
"Okay. I'm sorry."
"Don't tell me, I'm not the one that you disobeyed. You're going to have to apologize to mom and dad."
"I was afraid you'd say that."
"I'll tell them I gave you a stern talking to, and they'll probably let you off the hook because it's your first super bad thing you did. Okay?"
"Okay."
"Let's go." I say then we walk out Charlie's room and go upstairs.
LIVING ROOM- TEDDY POV-
"Mom, dad, I talked to her and now she has something she wants to tell you." I say.
"Mom, dad. I'm sorry I went to that party. I was going to text you but then someone wanted to used my phone and never gave it back, but that's not a good excuse. I shouldn't have even went to that party. I've just felt unimportant and wanted to make it so you could notice me. But I shouldn't have did that, I should've just came to you like a mature 13 year old should. I'm sorry. I should be setting an example for Toby, but instead I'm acting like a little kid. I deserve to be punished harshly." I just stared at her in shock.
"Charlie, that was very mature, admitting to everything. And with that, your punishment is you're grounded for one month." My mom says.
"That's it? For what I did?"
"You're showing maturity by doing that, most high scholars wouldn't say half of that." My mom says.
"Thank you. I still don't deserve only one month though."
"Trust us, yes you only deserve one month." My dad says.
"Wow, even you agree?" I ask.
"She showed maturity." My dad answers.
"I agree. I admit I wouldn't have even said all that. But now that I think, it probably would've been a good way to go."
"Well, Charlie. You probably should go to your room." My mom says.
"Thanks Teddy, I would've gotten in a lot more trouble if you hadn't gotten me out of there." Charlie says hugging me.
"No problem. But from now on, when you need someone to talk to, please come to me." I say hugging her back.
"Okay, I will. I promise. Thank you again. I love you."
"I love you too." Then Charlie goes down to her room.
"Teddy, thank you. She's right, she would've gotten in a lot more trouble if you hadn't gotten her out of there. Thank you Teddy." My mom says.
"It's fine. I care so much about her. I just couldn't imagine living life without her, or any of you guys."
"Life goes on Teddy." My dad says.
"Yeah. Maybe you're right. But still, I couldn't imagine it."
"Teddy, now can we talk?" My mom says, referring to me going to Florida.
"About what?" My dad asks.
"At the party, there was something, and uh. Spence the kids and I are going to Miami for a while."
"Miami as in Florida?"
"Yeah."
"Teddy, no. You should stay here."
"Dad, I have to go if I wanna keep the kids safe."
"No, no. You can settle whatever is wrong here."
"No dad. I can't."
"Teddy I-" Mom tries to protest.
"No mom. I know you want me here, but you don't understand. Neither of you do. I have to go."
"Teddy! You can't just drop everything and go." My mom says.
"I have to go, I'm an adult and I can choose for myself what I want. These kids need to be safe, Spence even agrees. He doesn't want to go any more than I do, but he's putting our kids first. And that's what I want in a husband."
"Teddy, I know. Isn't there anything else that you can do though?" My mom asks.
"No."
"Teddy, please don't go."
"Bye mom. Bye dad." I say then leave the house with what felt like a million tears streaming out of my eyes.
Well? I hope you liked it.
And Charlie did NOT drink or do drugs. I wrote that just for entertainment purposes and do not think any of the GLC characters would actually get drugged up, so therefore it's OOC. Bye!
