*Hums Legend of Zelda theme*... Oh crap, I almost forgot to upload Sewing Time! Umm, yeah, I just got A Link Between Worlds and I absolutely love it. My first video game ever was A Link to the Past, so this game is pure nostalgia overload. Hopefully, though, it won't mess with the headcannon that I base a lot of this fic on. Also, LINK HAS MAJORA'S MASK HANGING ON THE WALL IN HIS HOUSE!... Majora's mask 3D confirmed? Well, anyway, I even got the special edition 3DS XL to go with it! *squee* Hey, now that I have three different 3DS systems, all with their own streetpass profile, I can make each one of them the three links from this story! :D And I've actually already done that, so yeah... ^_^' Anyway, on to replying to the guest reviews! First, to the Drone: Great minds think alike. Those were the exact reasons that I picked the links that I did for each mask! Yes, those were the songs that opened up the area and had to be played on the instrument that was respective to the form that was being focused on. Also, the next item is so obscure, that it has only ever appeared in one Zelda game. Therefore, it is not the hammer! XD Glad you're enjoying it, though. Seeing people guess at what the next item will be is always fun! :D
Now, to Kagu the Great: First, I would like to say that the Drone says that he's welcome (yes, the Drone is a guy) and that he read your review, so yeah... Second, I'd like to say thanks for the compliment. Like I said, my music teacher was awesome enough to let that happen, even though she know absolutely nothing about Zelda! Also, I know the pain of trying to write a review on a 3DS, of all things. The flippy rod is from MC and I'm glad that you got a good mental image of K. Link as a goron! XD Lastly, although I did tell the Drone in that response up there ^ that the next item has only ever appeared in one Zelda game and the ball and chain match that description, it is not the ball and chain. After all, how would they carry that around?
Anyway, I think I've gone on long enough and that you all deserve these next three chapters, so here ya go! ^_^
Chapter 34: Fear
Shaun's shift had ended, so a friendly guard allowed us to see the princess right away. When we approached, though, she looked at us confusedly. She no doubt noticed how, well… traumatized we were and she shifted her gaze to look directly at knight Link, wanting an explanation. The first thing that he said, though, was actually a question of what day it was. When the princess answered that we had had only been gone for an hour, all three of us became even more confused. So, upon coaching from the princess, we each explained exactly what had happened.
The princess looked at us, listening until we were done. Finally, after we finished, she said one very simple thing:
"Give me the masks." We did as we were told and each of us handed our respective masks to her. She took each one and went to another room. Knight Link immediately followed her, so future Link and I did too. We looked around this other room and discovered that it was obviously a leisure room of some sort. I had seen many before in the homes of several of my masters and I had always felt calm when one was relaxing because it meant an easier time for me, so I rather liked these types of rooms.
Either way, we watched as Zelda put the zora and goron masks down on a table and took the deku mask in her hands, examining it. I felt a little bit nervous because that was the mask that I had put on. However, after a little while, she put that mask down and started examining the goron mask. It wasn't long before she repeated the process, but with the zora mask this time. All three of us Links were pretty scared of what those masks might do, but princess Zelda seemed very intrigued. Finally, she said
"Well, there's something odd about these masks, that's for sure… let me explain. I can sense an individual spirit inside of each mask, but they're not vengeful in any sort of way. In fact, I thin they want to help you. The spirits that are inside each one were most likely whichever person told you that they'd help you after playing their respective songs. I'm not sure what putting one of these masks on would do to you, but I'm fairly certain that it would have something to do with that happened to you guys. However, the only way to find out would have to be if one of you put on one of the masks."
All four of us stood in an awkward silence after that. None of the three of us Links wanted to put those masks on for fear of what could happen. However, we knew that princess Zelda was right. Sheepishly, I walked up to the deku mask and picked it up. The other two Links looked at me like I was the bravest soul in the world. However, I knew that whatever would happen, it would probably end well enough because the spirits wanted to help, not hinder, and that was all that mattered to me.
Swallowing my fears, I put the mask directly onto my face. Instantly, I felt myself changing… and it hurt! The sheer amount of pain that was coursing through my body was so much that I actually screamed. My body felt like it was being torn apart, warped, and changed so drastically that I ended up panting when it finally subsided. I was pretty sure that the others gasped, but I hadn't heard them over the sound of my own scream! Suddenly, I heard Zelda's voice say
"Oh. My…" It seemed as though she couldn't finish her sentence. At this, part of my mind already knew what had happened, but I just had to confirm it with my own eyes. So, I looked down at my body to discover that I had, once again, become a deku scrub! Finding out that I really was a lot shorter than normal, I looked up at the other two Links to see them wide-eyed and staring. I soon began to feel like something was covering my face, so I reached up and tried to pull it off.
Realizing that I had pulled the mask off, I prepared myself for anything. What I got, though, was the feeling of relief washing over me as my body returned to a more comfortable form. I looked to see that both the other two Links AND Zelda all had the same relief on their faces. So, I figured that if simply putting the mask on and taking it off transformed us into what the mask was of and back, then that would be pretty useful…
