Chapter 41: Not Again

We were actually doing pretty well, all things considered. After all, Molgera's attacks became more predictable as it became angrier. However, this thing proved its intelligence by leaping of the sand, flying around, aiming for where slave Link and I were, and predicting where I would end up. It seemed as though its prediction was spot on, because I felt its tongue touch me just as my entire world went black. I was still conscious, though, so I grabbed onto its tongue, thrust my sword through it, and held on for dear life.

I had to hold my breath, but it seemed that Molgera couldn't stand the sword through it tongue. So, there wasn't much surprise when I began to feel a great force pushing me in a single direction. As I was being pushed in that direction, I actually began to see light coming from said direction. Molgera was trying to spit me out! All I needed was the right timing and I could withdraw my sword in order to jump out.

At last, I saw the other two Links a few feet away and, as I withdrew my sword from Molgera's tongue, I kicked off of it and landed a little ways in front of them. I may have landed still within Molgera's jaws' range, but knight Link helped me to get away from where Molgera was. I got to see Molgera fleeing in pain before knight Link tried to lighted the mood by joking that I must taste really good to the monsters. After all, that had been the third time that a monster had gotten me in its mouth.

I gave knight Link a 'what the fuck' face before what he was saying actually clicked in my mind. Magawyrm, Gyorg, and then Molgera. At this realization, I vocalized how I was not planning on it ever happening again. I could see knight Link smile at my conviction before he took out his vanish cape and draped it over his shoulder, making like he was expecting to have to use it soon. At this, I grabbed a bomb without pulling it out of the bag.

Suddenly, Molgera burst out of the sand and released literally hundreds of mini-molgeras. Obviously, it was trying to distract us with the minis so that it could swoop in for the kill. In response, knight Link donned the vanish cape and took off in some direction, where all of the minis died as soon as they got near him. Meanwhile, slave Link was picking them off one by one using his hookshot. So, I decided that I would help out (while still keeping an eye one Molgera, itself) by tossing a bomb out to where it looked like there were quite a few of the minis.

The result was a whole bunch of airborne sand and about twenty flying mini-molgeras. I almost laughed at how comical they looked, but I managed to keep my cool. After all, the airborne sand started to create a hint of a smokescreen and I knew that this would only make things more difficult for everyone. I then heard a loud crash, meaning that Molgera had lost track of us in all of the airborne sand and it dove back into the sand in order to track us down from underground. Honestly, the sand was actually hurting my eyes, but I knew that closing them would result in me getting hit by a mini.

I didn't really know what was going on, but the next thing I knew, I felt something silky being draped over top of me. I made a wild guess that it was a part of knight Link's vanish cape, so I decided to take the opportunity to wipe some of the sand out of my eyes. Afterward, I looked up and found that I had guessed correctly and that he had also gotten slave Link just before me. Yet, I was still concerned about Molgera because I knew that it knew where we were. However, the vanish cape not only disguised us from the view of the minis, but it also shielded our eyes from the sand.

I stared to the ground, waiting for the sand to dip beneath us. What happened instead, though, was that the sand started to mound. Molgera was about to burst through the mound! In response, each of the three of us took off once again; slave Link and me leaving the safety of knight Link's vanish cape behind.

This time, though, Molgera dove down and began skimming the top of the sand for us before it took back off and into the air. It did this several times before it finally got so close to getting me again, that I retaliated by throwing a bomb into its mouth. It felt the bomb bounce off of its tongue and snapped its jaws closed. However, it just barely caught my tunic and lifted me up as it took off! When the bomb finally exploded, it let go of me just enough to actually release me, but I soon discovered that it was at such an angle, that I ended up riding Molgera!
