Chapter 42: Minis

By sheer dumb luck, future Link had gotten himself into a situation where he was actually riding Molgera! I honestly couldn't believe my eyes. However, I could see that future Link was holding on for dear life. On one hand, he was actually holding Molgera's mouth closed, making it impossible for Molgera to try and eat us. On the other hand, Molgera was thrashing about, making it very difficult for future Link to stay on.

Eventually, it managed to shake him off. Thankfully, slave Link had thought quickly enough to run over and catch him, so I decided to time a fire arrow just right in order to get in some cheap damage on Molgera. Afterwards, I ran over to find that both of them were in pain from the collision. Confirming that they were okay and that it was nothing serious, I began helping them up. Although it seemed that Molgera had different ideas.

The sand beneath us began to dip once again! Knowing that we had to get out of there, I urged the other Links along and I managed to succeed in getting them out of the way. As soon as Molgera's tongue stuck up, out of the ground, slave Link had his hookshot headed straight for it. Once it was vulnerable, all three of us ran in for a whole bunch of damage. Not to mention that once slave Link noticed that Molgera's mouth was about to snap closed, he saved us yet again.

Molgera's jaws snapped shut once again, but this time, there was a little explosion from in there. All that came to mind in terms of an explanation was how clever future Link really was with those bombs. Clever or destructive; one of the two. This seemed to stun Molgera for a while, because it didn't come back up for quite some time. However, this time, the dip in the sand began forming at the absolute center of the room, effectively confusing all three of us.

We finally figured out what was going on when the area of dipped sand became larger than normal and the center of the room's sand sank lower than what we had thought possible. The entire room's worth was getting dragged into it! We were about to move closer to Molgera in order to deal damage when another swarm of mini-molgeras came digging after us. At this, we decided to put as much distance between us and Molgera as possible. In other words, we ran!

There was no way that we were going to let Molgera get us, but these mini-molgeras posed quite a problem. Suddenly, though, I had an idea! I put on my vanish cape (it was a shame that the other two Links couldn't see me when I had it on), readied my bow, and ran over to Molgera. I felt quite guilty in leaving the other two to fend off the minis, but I was hoping that they would understand.

The instant that Molgera showed its 'hit me' beacon, I started pelting it with fire arrows so hard, that the tongue, itself, actually burst into flames! Then, out of nowhere, a mini-molgera leapt out of the sand and tried to… swallow Molgera's tongue? The sheer amount of confusion that I had at that act actually got me hit by one of the minis (I didn't even know that that one was there). However, when Molgera flicked the mini off of its tongue, I realized why it had done that. The saliva of the mini actually put the flames out!

Holy crud, were these things smart! We needed to think harder about how we were going to do more heavy damage. Frankly, all that I could think of to do was to hit Molgera's tongue with an ice arrow in order to stall it while I killed off some more minis. Finally, the sand began refilling the room and Molgera retreated back into the sand. I then ran over to the other Links and the looks in their eyes told me that they actually understood why I had taken off like that.

Yet, the next thing that we knew, Molgera was trying to pinpoint all three of us once again. It was routine by this point that we ran, killed the mini, and then slave Link used his hookshot on the tongue so that we could damage it. This time, we decided to be much more violent and reckless than before. It even got to the point where I stabbed my sword through it vertically and slave Link stabbed horizontally in order to hold it in place while future Link sliced it clean in half! Instantly, Molgera retreated, then burst out of the sand again, crying out in pain. Once all of its body was in the air, it stopped, turned a pale, sandy brown, and exploded into sand!

The sand of Molgera's body covered the entire room and left all three of us with huge piles of sand on our heads. When it cleared, though, I saw two balls of light; one black and one white. Cue the shadow to take the black one away and leave the white one behind. Finally seeing the shadow in better lighting, I could see that it could actually become three-dimensional (yes, future Link taught us about that)! It made me very uneasy, but then it left, and the white ball of light was then alone with us.

It then floated over to us and split into three, just like last time. Afterwards, it flew into each of our Master Swords, making them glow for a short time. Suddenly, the room began to shake and the level of sand began to sink. When the room was finally empty, we found a door leading outwards that had a very long and winding staircase on the other side. When we finally reached the top, we caught sight of the gerudo who were waiting for us.

Well, there ya go! The one boss fight that I had the absolute most fun in writing so far... although, what are the balls of light and the shadow? Leave your reactions and predictions in the reviews and I'll see you all next week!
