Chapter 47: The Other Hylians
The amount that the other hylians were praising us was astounding. It was almost like they had never fought a giant monster before… okay, yeah, we were awesome! The other Links seemed to be taking in the compliments pretty well. Especially slave Link. Knight Link was somewhat used to being complimented, but slave Link was almost, if not, never complimented before joining us. Thus, this was a huge thing for him.
Some of the other hylians even wanted us to teach them how to fight. However, before we could respond, Zelda shouted back to us from outside the caravan (she was driving) that we were busy enough already. I mentally thanked her for saying that because I had no idea how to teach someone how to fight. I had mostly learned on the job and I didn't know if it was even possible to teach someone something like that. Sure, knight Link could have done it, (what I didn't learn on the job was taught to me by him) but he already had his hands full enough with keeping slave Link and me on our toes.
However, this didn't mean that we would chase away any watchers if we decided to spar. Heck, if they wanted to learn through observing, then they could watch all that they wanted. Just as long as they didn't try half of our moves on their own. After all, we did get pretty risky quite often. However, if we weren't, then we probably would have died pretty early on and everyone knew it.
To the slaves, it probably wouldn't have been much if we had died around the beginning because they were used to deaths. However, by this point, we were like the childhood heros that they never had. Although that was quite a lot of pressure, we were honestly having a little bit of fun with this because it meant that they listened to us. Either this was their taught nature as slaves, or it was representative of just how much they revered us… even though it was probably a mixture of the two.
The fact that they listened to us was convenient because if we said that we wanted to discuss something without anyone listening in, then they gave us our space and didn't even ask. We NEVER bossed them around, but at the same time, they wanted to do all of our work for us… except, of course, for the fighting. They practically honored us like we were their masters, but we made sure to show off our ears just to remind them that we were hylians too. Sure, I was a little concerned that slave Link would go a little bit power crazy, but he handled it surprisingly well.
All that was left to do was talk to Zelda about where we had to go next. Apparently, we were headed back to her place because she had picked us up just after a successful expedition. Fair enough, I guessed, but I still ended up wondering what was in store for us when we got there. Heck, if the few hylians that were with Zelda reacted to us like this, then I shuddered to imagine how the literal hundreds that were at Zelda's mansion would react to us having returned…
