Chapter 53: Promise Remembered
The simple fact that Zelda had figured out how to make these things boggled my mind. Copying the hookshot wasn't exactly impressive, but remote controlled explosives and freaking light arrows?! I soon began to wonder if this woman had any limits! However, all that I could do was spar with the other Links in preparation for the next dungeon. I knew that we had another dungeon to go through because nothing is ever easy.
One of the days the other Links and I decided to spar, we arrived to the area where we did so and found a bunch of the other hylians there. The thing was that they were attempting to copy what they had seen us do… at least with our swords. I could see that knight Link was trying not to laugh because of how novice they were. However, both slave Link and I were quite intrigued as to why they were doing it. Eventually, slave Link expertly snuck up on them and then asked in a very loud voice (that I didn't even know that he had) what they were doing.
"Um, uh, well… we're… umm… we're, uh… *sigh* we're trying to spar." One of them stuttered out, finishing with a very defeated tone. Afterward, both knight Link and I came out of the shadows that we were hiding in and we walked up behind slave Link. At this, the hylian in question stiffened, thinking that he was in huge trouble. Everybody stayed silent for a moment before slave Link finally spoke up and told the hylian that he understood why they were sparring, but that they needed a proper teacher in order to do it right. At this point, I knew exactly what was going to happen.
Slave Link then continued, saying that he would be willing to teach all that he knew about sword-fighting to the other hylians, AFTER all of this that the three of us Links were doing was finally over with. At this, the other hylians snapped their heads up at him, obviously ecstatic about the prospect. They then bowed and left, making the three of us be alone in the sparring room (for the first time ever). Using the aloneness to our advantage, knight Link decided to ask slave Link why they wanted to learn how to fight, to which slave Link replied that it was obvious.
According to him, Zelda was planning an uprising of the hylians in order to free them from slavery, and the other hylians knew that they would have to fight in order to get everyone free. It made perfect sense, but the thing that bothered me was the fact that if the non-hylians found out about this, then they would kill all of the hylians that they could, before these hylians got to them. When I voiced this concern, slave Link answered very calmly that that was why the hylians of this dimension absolutely needed the help of both knight Link's and my own dimensions. After hearing this, I remembered the first time that all three of us had gone to this dimension and what happened in regards to that.
I remembered the promise that I had made to both myself and the others, that the three of us WOULD sew time back together!... For the sake of everyone.
