Omg, my diploma exams are coming up! The soonest one is on monday, so please wish me luck! ;D I really have nothing else to say in regards to my train of thought for this week except that I know it's obvious what the theme of the dungeon is, but I still tried to write it as best as I could... oh, wait. There's still my animal crossing new leaf dream address. I put it on my profile, so yeah. Okay, now we're on to me responding to the guest reviews. First, to The Drone: It's okay, I understand if life decided to mug you. Believe me, I know the feeling... anyway, even if you knew that those were going to be the upgrades, do you still like them? As far as them being ready for the shadow temple, you'll find out soon enough. :D And, finally, the lens of truth is not the dungeon item. ;) You'll see what it is, don't worry.

Now, to Kagu the Great: Well, to be honest, someone wanted the double clawshot to make an appearance in the first entry, but the story didn't have enough time on it for that to be able to work. So, I stuck it in here. I just figured that if S. Link got an upgrade, then the other two should as well, right? Yeah, light arrows just before a shadow temple. I didn't initially plan it like that. I just fell into place, honestly. Also, I don't have any plans for the various types of boots in this fic, so I'm sorry to disappoint you. :/ Either way, though, I really hope that you enjoy what I do have planned. ;)

Now, let's get onto the chapters!

Chapter 55: Shadow

As soon as we entered this place, I noticed that the only light came from the very few torches that were dotted along the wall. These torches glowed with a bright, green blaze that had small flickers of blue in them. I pointed them out, but future Link had then told me that if the right things are burnt within the flames, then the colour of them can change. Therefore, I let that fact slide. However, I had to take note of the fact that when future Link spoke, he had a bit of a stutter.

I had to remind myself that the other two, especially future Link, were nowhere as used to death as what I was. During my old life, hylians died left and right if so much as even one of us disobeyed. Thus, I was actually pretty used to it. Obviously, knight Link wasn't quite as affected by it because he had been trained on how to deal with death. However, future Link had none of that.

Due to me being the only one who could really handle this place, I figured that I had to lead. I knew that this would be difficult, though, because I had never done it before. In all of the other dungeons, future Link would lead the puzzle solving and knight Link would lead the battles, while I would just do what I was told; as usual. Yet, this time, I knew that it was my turn to lead.

All of these thoughts ran through my head as we headed down to corridor that was very dimly lit. However, I motioned for the others to stop when I heard a pained sort of moaning. I then stalked my way forward, making sure that I didn't make any sort of a sound. When I got closer, I realized that there was a corner that I could peek around in order to see what the moaning might be.

I had to catch my breath when I saw three shriveled up, old corpses sitting upright on the ground, but each one was in a fetal position. Whatever had killed them was too dangerous to face alone, so I called the other two over with a wave of my hand. Thankfully, they knew to be quiet. As soon as future Link saw them, he covered his mouth and his eyes went wide. However, once knight Link saw them, he knocked a fire arrow and let it go straight at one of the corpses.

I looked at his in shock. Had he no respect for the dead? Yet, all he did was point at it. When I looked, I saw the other two corpses actually stand up and walk over to the flaming one. My eyes widened at this, realizing that the other two were about to eat the remains of the first one. Knight Link then whispered to both future Link and me that those things were called 'redeads', and that they were the dead, reanimated.

After this, knight Link shot fire arrows at the other two, and the three of us proceeded on. Eventually, though, we came across a bunch of guillotines that were in action, despite the being absolutely no one to man them. Future Link looked at them and seemed almost terrified. However, his face then scrunched into what it looked like when he was thinking about something specific.

All of a sudden, he ran at them, deftly dodging the blade. He had managed to calculate exactly when to run forward, and the execution was spot on! I then stepped up to the blade, waiting for him to tell me when to dash forward. Upon doing so, I also dodgen the blade. This continued on with all three of us for quite a while, until we came across a room that seemed to be lined with the bones of the dead.

Upon seeing this room, future Link seemed ready to vomit. At this, I began to wonder where all of his desensitization went. He was fine with explosions, but he couldn't handle seeing a room of bones. However, just as he was about to speak, a bunch of sickly white arms and hands with impossibly long and red fingernails poked out of the ground. The hands and arms looked like they had a lot of bruises, but that didn't stop all of us from being very cautious about this. They seemed harmless, so I approached one.

Huge mistake…
