Chapter 56: Grabbed
The absolutely disgusting so-white-that-it-looked-dead hand that slave Link approached actually grabbed him by the face and started trying to suffocate him. Instantly, knight Link rushed forward to save him, but I stayed where I was. Although I beat myself up a little bit on the inside for doing that, I soon thanks the gods that I did because it allowed me to see the real threat. Out of the ground rose a large, white creature that looked somewhat humanoid. It had same colour scheme as the hands that were sticking out of the ground, so I figured that they had to be related.
Its head was pointed straight up, so I couldn't see its face, but it was still horrible to look at! It had little stubs of arms on its body that it didn't seem to be using and it was looked pretty fat. It wasn't as fat as some people that I had seen, but it was still on the fat side. It started to shuffle towards slave Link and knight Link, who were both too focused on trying to get the hand to let go of slave Link to notice this… abomination. So, I did what anyone would do in this situation. I ran straight at the creature, yelling loudly in order to attract the attention of the other two, and stabbed the creature straight through where it looked like the heart was!
Unfortunately, that didn't seems to faze it! The Master sword wasn't enough to harm it! In the time that I was in shock from this, the creature lowered its head to the level of mine, and attempted to bite mine off. However, knight Link had thought fast and purposely tripped me in order to make me fall out of the way. After that, he slashed at the creature's open mouth! Blood then poured out as a result, and the creature lifted its head up once again, obviously trying to catch its own blood.
It turned around and slowly stalked away, not trying to counter attack. So, knight Link decided that it was a good idea to try to shoot it with an ice arrow in order to stop its movement. However, this didn't work because it dodged out of the way pretty quickly by burrowing back into the ground again. At this point, slave Link (who I didn't even notice was freed from the hand that had grabbed him) helped me up and the three of us decided to wait for the thing to show itself again.
However, it didn't show itself at all, despite the fact that the hands were still out. Eventually, slave Link suggested that it only showed itself when someone had been grabbed by one of its hands. Figuring that this was probably the case, I walked over to one of the hands and I let it grab me in order to lure the creature out! Sure enough, I heard the ground shift that indicated that it was up, so I began to struggle against this thing. However, just as I had freed myself, I watched slave Link decapitate it!
At this, all of the hands shriveled up and sunk back into the ground, leaving only the body of the creature behind. I almost fell onto of slave Link, but he actually managed to dodge out of the way in time, so he was okay. Honestly, I had expected blood to come pouring out of it, like an old horror film, but it didn't bleed at all. Despite it having bled earlier in the fight, it didn't even spill a single drop of blood after it was decapitated.
Realizing just how horrific this was, I almost vomited. After all, it was one thing if something like this were to appear in a piece of fiction, but that wasn't the case. To see this… thing with my own eyes was completely different. In fact, I just wanted to get out of there altogether. However, I still managed to get my act together before long and press on. Upon seeing slave Link have little to no fear whatsoever and knight Link have less fear than myself, I knew that I had to swallow that.
I had always been courageous, but that didn't mean that something that that didn't freak me out! However, it eventually sank back into the ground that was made of bones. Then, out of nowhere, a treasure chest appeared! Figuring that I had better get rid of any bad notions and press on, I made my over to it, eager to find out what was inside.
The other Links looked at me a little weirdly, but I decided to ignore that as I opened the chest. When I pulled out what was inside, I felt a little bit ripped off. After all, slave Link had the double hookshot, the beetle, and the deku mask. Knight Link had fire, ice, and light arrows, an awesome vanish cape, and the goron mask. While I had remote controlled explosives and the zora mask. I was expecting to get something rather awesome to match the other two, but what I pulled out was about as plain as plain got.
A freaking hammer…
