Chapter 62: Plan
When I woke up, I found that the whole camp (a whopping seven people, the other Links, Zelda, and myself included) was active. Obviously, I'd be the last to wake up. However, because I was finally up, Zelda had the other three hylians pack up most of the essentials while she pulled the three of us Links aside in order to tell us what the other Zeldas had said.
"Well, it looks like I'll have to file a missing persons report for William once we get back… yes, that means that the people you saw were the real deal. That boy named 'Ethan' disappeared first, but missing people are apparently a common enough thing in your dimension, that barely anyone batted an eye." She said the last part to me, specifically. Knowing that it was pretty much true, I just rubbed the back of my neck (yes, some sand fell off) and put a guilty look on my face. Knight Link looked a bit startled by this, but then he just shook his head and turned back to Zelda, waiting for more. Slave Link didn't react, but I figured that it was because he was up all night, meaning that he was understandably tired.
"Anyway, that guard by the name of 'Shaun' went second. According to the more regal princess, there was actually a bit of a civilian panic because everybody thought that it was a monster, or something. I guess that, in the end, they were right. So, it looks like we have to track them down." She simply stated. Afterwards, she went off on a bit of a tangent about the various things that she discussed with the other Zeldas. However, I quickly noticed that it looked like slave Link wasn't listening… again.
He had been rather spacy after our battle with dark Link. I just knew that he had said something to him, but if only I knew what. Heck, it was plainly obvious that it was something really bad that slave Link didn't want us to worry about, but I was confused as to why he was reacting like that. Usually, he would just bounce back because he had lived with being profusely insulted for most of his life (before all of this, of course). I figured at that moment that it was at least somewhat due to him having stayed up all night, though, so I decided to turn my attention back to Zelda.
"So, because dark Link could be literally anywhere, the other Zeldas and I felt that it was safest if you three split up for each dimension. That way, all three of the dimensions would be covered if he decided to attack… I know that you barely beat him with all three of you present, but this is really our only option. Also, if we do find him in one dimension, then we'll probably send the other two over that dimension immediately. Does that sound alright?" Hesitantly, I nodded.
I was concerned about how slave Link was acting, but I knew that things were getting too dangerous to let anything get in our way. Furthermore, we were already in what used to be Hyrule with Zelda, so getting to the chamber of the gods would actually be pretty easy, all things considered. Knight Link seemed to be thinking the same thing; as he nodded too. It was then that I saw that slave Link had been listening, because he nodded as well. At least there was that.
Thankfully, Zelda decided that it would be best if we were to just head over to the chamber of the gods without actually going back first. I asked her if she had enough supplies to give to knight Link and me, but she just winked. Obviously, it meant that she had thought about it from the very beginning. Damn, I knew that Zelda was incredibly smart (no matter the version), but to plan this far ahead? It was incredible! Either way, all three of us Links piled into the chariot/caravan (whatever) with the other hylians, and we all set off for the chamber of the gods!
