Note: How long time I didn't write this since the last update? =_= I'm so sorry. I don't mean to abandon this fanfiction, but yeah, my mood and writer block blocked my way to write and update this. Sorry for the late and enjoy this chapter (anyway, I don't know which one that much more fit for the title; hero or happiness. Well, I chose Hero that fitter for this).
08: Hero
It was his classroom or it could be called so. Orange reddish rays was shining through the windows. A summer breeze came from the opened window and blew the curtains softly. In front of that windows, there was a girl was standing without any moving , and smiling calmly to him. Smiling beautifully with a pair of red eyes staring at him.
A black seifuku wrapped her body perfectly. A muffler that had same color as his red jersey was blew by the wind. Such a nostalgic scenery. As if he was brought back to the past or to the moment at two years ago, when this place was still his classroom with she as his classmate.
That girl was still there, standing without any single moving. Like what he did as well. Two of them just standing and staring each other for a few seconds, without any words came out from their mouth. As if they was talking by their eyes.
"Nee, Shintaro," the girl said the name of the guy in front of her. "I'm sorry, I'm dead," that girl continued her sentences. "I even haven't say "goodbye" properly to you. I'm really sorry," she continued her words again without any change of her expression or her moving. Her smile was still clinging just like two years ago, or that was left on his brain.
Shintaro was still silent. He didn't reply that girl's sentences. His eyes was still staring at her with no change. "Nee, Shintaro. Shall we say goodbye now? While we are still be able to meet and you are in front of me now,"
That guy was still be silent without any sound, as if he didn't know what the things that have to say now. But, his black onyx staring as if didn't say that thing. Instead, he has found the reply for that red muffler girl.
Realize there was no reply or response from the red jersey boy in front of her, she called him again. "Shintaro.."
"Good bye,"
"Eh?" that girl blinked her eyes for a second. She surprised a bit when she heard that phrase from his mouth.
"You want to say it, right? So, good bye," Shintaro said it with a bitter smile—or maybe just like an underestimate smile.
That girl was silent for a second, and then laugh a bit. "Ah, alright. I want to say it indeed," she said. "And then, with that goodbye, I am be able to go in peace—"
"Peace..." that guy said again. "You say peace...?" that guy stared at the floor without any expression.
"Eh?" she surprised again.
"You died casually, you said sorry and goodbye so easily," his voice begun louder. "And then you want to go as you please again?" he turned his head to her who was still surprised. No, not because his words, but because of his face who seemed want to cry. His eyes that turned into red now stared at her with a 'please don't go' expression.
"Yes. I am not able to be here again. My time was end. My red eyes... I have give it to you now," she said again. A tears was flew out on her beauty face. "You guys, have defeated that guy. I'm sorry ... for bothering you guys.." her voice trembled. "I'm sorry ... for have a dad like that. But now ... you guys, can get your happiness," she smiled again.
Shintaro suddenly grabbed her shoulders and stared at the floor again. "Happiness... You did it because you want us to get our happiness, right?" he asked with a trembling voice.
"Hiks... yes. Because ... I want that kids to get their happiness ... hiks," she replied with sobbing.
"If they lost their important thing ... if they lost their biggest happiness, the result is same, you idiot!" he shouted with his head leaned on her shoulders. Her eyes rounded surprisingly. Her tears started to flow out from her eyelid.
"YOU ARE THEIR BIGGEST HAPPINESS, AYANO!" he shouted again. He squeezed her shoulder so tightly. He knew that girl maybe felt hurt, but the fact that that girl named Ayano would disappear in front of his eyes was more hurt than it.
"They will get their happiness if they are with you because they are saved by you! You are their big sister, their most important person, their hero!" he shouted again. Ayano's tears flew out swiftly. She didn't have any intention to wipe her tears. She let her tears flew down and wetted her red muffler.
After that, only her sobbing was sounding on that empty classroom. Shintaro fell into silent, waiting her to reply his words. His hands was still grabbing her shoulders tight but not so tight, and trembling. For a few second, they fell into silent. Just sobbing who was reverberating.
"But..." Ayano started to say. "Now, they had have so many friends ... who understand them and accept them with their open hands," she said while wiping her tears. "And their hero isn't only me," she grabbed his hand—made him turned his head and stared at her. She lowered his hand and grabbed it tightly. "You are their hero too, Shintaro! You are their red hero!" she said again with a wide smile that he never seen before.
Shintaro didn't say any words again. Ayano's words was true, and he couldn't against it (although he wasn't sure about the last thing that she said). He bite his lower lip.
"You ... you are the one person who want that happiness mostly, right?" Shintaro asked again. Ayano's eyes rounded again. "But, why ... why did you sacrifice yourself?! You even hurt them too, you know," he shouted. Sighed for a second, "... and me as well," he added with a low voice. But that's right, indeed. He has been a NEET for two years because of her suicide.
Sobbed, "Because their happiness is my happiness as well," she said. The tears came out from her eyes again, started to flowing down to her cheeks. "I did this thing to make them get their happiness, and if they get their happiness, I'll get my happiness as well," she said again with a smile, a bitter smile.
"You are ..." Shintaro hung his words. "You are really really idiot, Ayano!" he shouted; continued his words. He knew, if he asked her again, the result was same. He would be trapped on the question cycle recur like an idiot. And he was really an idiot.
"I'm sure," that girl said again. "I'm sure you guys will get your happiness, even without me," a smile appear on her face. "The hero surely will get a happy end with all of his friends. So I'm sure, even without me, you will get your happiness. That kids will get their happiness too. And..." she hung her words. "Me ... I'll get my happiness too, because I'm a hero as well, ehehe," a small laugh was sounded from her mouth.
"Idiot," that guy answered with a small smile. Maybe, he indeed let her go. He should move on from his past, and letting her go is its way.
"Ahaha, it has been long time, I didn't laugh like this. Such a nostalgic," she said again while staring at the red-orange sun rays. "Usually, we laugh with Takane-san and Haruka-san together," she added.
"Yeah," Shintaro replied and stared at the sun rays too. He didn't say the fact that only Haruka and Ayano who always laugh, while he and Takane always fight against each other. He didn't admit that actually missing that moment so much as well.
"Nee, Shintaro," she was still staring at the window. "Please, take care them, okay?" she said with a big smile that he'd ever seen with a splash of rays. She released her muffler and wrapped it on Shintaro's neck.
"What do you—" and when he blinked his eyes, that girl shadow disappeared from his sight. He grabbed that red muffler tightly. He smiled, he knew and understand, what she meant and what should he do now.
Finish this Kagerou Daze.
