Chapter 72: The Spirits of the Past

The princess had sent a messenger to fetch me to the castle, meaning that she had probably figured it out. When I got there, she asked the messenger to tell the knights who were training that they had the rest of the day off. I thought of it as a little weird at first, but I didn't question her. After all, if she really had figured it out, then it made sense for her to not want any of the other knights to know it.

Quickly, we discussed things regarding Fi and her relation to the Master Sword. Not only that, but we also discussed the origin of both and what it meant for the skyward strike. I understood that I had to point the Master Sword upwards, so she followed me to the training area. Sure enough, the area was vacant of any other knights. So, it didn't take me long to try and pull it off.

The magic that I felt inside the blade was incredible! I could feel that it was waiting to be released, so I swung it in the general direction of the closest dummy. The dummy was over four feet away, but the strike still hit it! I was absolutely amazed at the fact that the energy travelled in the direction that the sword was swung. Heck, it cut straight through the dummy and kept on going until it hit the wall.

My vision shifted towards the Master Sword before it started glowing very brightly! I called out to Zelda, but upon seeing it, she told me that she sensed that it wasn't going to harm me. So, I held on to it until the light became too much to bear. At that moment, I squeezed my eyes shut and then opened them when the light died down. I found that I was in the middle of a bunch of darkness, but what surprised me the most was the fact that both slave Link and future Link were there!

The three of us each walked towards each other, confusion very evident on all three of our faces. Afterwards, each of our pockets began to glow. We reached inside to find our respective threads, glowing very brightly. However, they each flew up and above our heads, out of our reach. Future Link, though, had the idea to use his Master Sword to reach it!

Upon touching the Master Sword, the thread coiled around it and melted into it, making it glow in a golden light. Soon enough, both slave Link and I copied him, giving us each a golden Master Sword! Future Link eventually asked what was supposed to happen next, but just as he did, Fi appeared above each of us. Immediately, we each backed up in order to get a better look at her. However, she did not move as she began to speak.

"An evil rises oh so high,

Cut down by the strike of the sky.

The thread of power laced with fire

The thread of wisdom found in a mire.

The thread of courage embodies thee,

And then there's me: the simple Fi.

Sealed within this sword of masters

Was the cause of all disasters.

A force I kept the consciousness of;

Trapped by the very power of love.

The body, imprisoned, was destroyed long ago.

The consciousness, though, would not go.

I warred with it, long and hard,

Making sure that it was always barred.

The split of three did not affect us.

It only made the goddess fuss.

When brought together, the power was great.

Too great, in fact, to handle fate.

Both broke free,

I and he.

His fate ties to yours so tight,

The end is not within sight.

A curse he cast upon your soul

Has, for years, taken its toll.

You must now dissolve the curse,

Knowing you are not the first.

Destroy his soul, as you must

Before he can embrace his lust

Destroy, he will, everything

If free, he roams: the demon king!

Your demise, he will claim to be,

But just remember that you have me…"

After reciting this poem, she curled up and turned into the ball of white light that we had been collecting for nearly the entirety of this leg of our adventure. She did this in the blink of an eye, not leaving any of the three of us any time to think. However, as soon as she was in this state, she split into three once again and spiraled towards our Master Swords! As soon as she touched them, bright light filled my eyes and I was back in the knight's training area with the princess.

She was looking at me with concern, but I was short of breath. Eventually, though, I found myself able to tell her what had happened. She nodded and I looked back at the Master Sword to find that the blade was dimly glowing a golden hue and the hilt a faint blue. The glow that was on the hilt eventually died down and seemed to leave it entirely. I then sheathed the sword as Zelda dismissed me.

All that I could of by that point was that at least we then had Fi's help in eliminating dark Link and his 'master'… Our supposed demise…

The End

Okay, okay, I get it. I remember saying that dark Link's line about where he said the word 'demise' was a coincidence on my part. However, I can say that I had been planning to use Demise as the villain since Threads of Fate. Yes, it was simply a happy accident! Please believe me. *sigh* Anyway, you all know that there is another entry to the Sewing Time trilogy that's coming out, so now that Spirits of the Past is done, I might as well reveal the next one. So, please join me again on March 29th, 2014 for the first three chapters of Sewing Time: Embodiments of Evil.

Also, to keep with what I did at the end of Threads of Fate, I'm going to be posting another oneshot while you wait for the next entry. This time, though, I won't tell you what it's about! :D It's Zelda related, though, so don't worry. On March 8th, 2014 I will be posting a oneshot that's titled 'Happiness'. Hopefully you guys will check it out! ;D

Thank you all so much for reading, and if you review as a guest, then please bear in mind that I read the reviews almost as soon as they're posted, because I check the reviews every single day. Even if I can't respond, I get the message almost immediately. Whether you have an account or not, though, please review and tell me what you might want to see when the Embodiments of Evil comes along. I hope to see you all soon! :D
