Yay! A new chappie! It's also late and I'm supposed to be sleeping but you know what? FUCK SLEEP! Okay not really, I love sleeping, just not on Sundays. Ugh school... -_-"
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto, BUT I do own a cool 2pac hoodie that says 'Thug Life', 'cuaz ya know I be a thug!
We set off to Earce, the land of magic, filled with magic. I walked quietly, rather than go off like my usual considerable rambunctious self. But the way this man had spoken to me just earlier was a bit scary. So I made a mental agreement to not act out on my own.
I shake my head from my thoughts. If this was "freedom", I no longer see what is so great about it. But that did not matter. At least I can go see more of this world than what I would have been granted before. Suddenly I begin to think of my mother and father. I wonder if they even know that I have left already. If they did, what are they doing now? I chuckle at my own question. Obviously my father would have sent Iruka to go search for me in the city. Only to later find that I am not in the city. I chew on my bottom lip. Though my acts should be frowned upon, I do not feel any regret. A bit of shame, maybe, but no regret.
"Naruto." I hear the man call me. I look up and then soon realize that I had stopped walking. I hurry to his side and apologize for having gotten distracted. But he shakes his head.
"That is fine, it does not matter, just hurry up." He says sternly. I heed his words and quicken my pace a bit.
"Um, I just realized something." I begin, after a while of walking in silence. The man grunts for me to continue. "I don't know your name." I say after sometime. He doesn't respond for a long while. I continue to wait for a response for a few moments longer, until I begin biting my lip in slight frustration. "Are you going to give me your name?" I asked after a long while.
"I have no such intentions." He says coldy. I scowl at his response.
"Why not!" I ask. He remains silent. I groan loudly in annoyance. This man! I do not understand the problem with me knowing his name. If we were going traveling together, it would only make sense to at least know each other's names.
He then stopped. I looked at him in surprise as he jerked his head from side to side. "Impossible." I heard him muttered quietly to himself. His gaze then turned to me and it lingered for a moment. We stared at each other until he lunged forward and grabbed my hand.
"Come on, we must hurry." He says. He dragged me by the hand and we ran away. I sputter in surprise as we run.
"W-why? What is going on?" I ask, my voice sounding a bit more scared then I had hoped it to. He did not reply to me as we continued running. Next thing I know, he has me clinging to his back and we are climbing up a tree. I stare at him in surprise. The man was fairly good a climbing. All my thoughts went back to the night the intruder came. The man had climbed the wall with great ease.
I shake my head from the thoughts as he sets me down on the high branch.
"Are you okay?" He asks as he pats my shoulders none too gently. Despite him not being able to see it, I scowl at the man. One moment he was cold, and the next he is tries to be worried about me. I nearly scoff. This man was just too… Once again I shake my head.
"I am fine, what is going on?" I ask again. If the man noticed my annoyance, he obviously did not care. Instead of answering he turned his head towards the south, where we had come from. I heard a rustling of leaves and bushes, the birds flew from their nests and crowed loudly to each other as if warning one another.
I felt a pang of fear hit me. The man grasped my arm and held me closer to him. My face burned up, when he leaned in close to my ear and spoke barely above a whisper.
Kushina stared outside the window of the carriage. She was
being carried out to the forest. The queen bit her lip, as she was in the midst of her anxiety. The barrier had been broken and this scared her. The barrier should be unbreakable, everlasting, and forever hidden. The forest had acted as a disguise. No one knew the barrier existed and if they did, it was impossible to find.
There were very few people in this world that could detect this barrier. But they should all be dead at this point. Kushina had been lucky that a very old friend of hers had offered to use the last of his power to create the large, impenetrable barrier. For that the red headed women wished she could repay him in some way, but unfortunately she couldn't, for with the usage of his remaining power the man had died. That was the one of regrets the red headed queen carried regarding this barrier.
"Naruto." She whispered longingly. She regretted what had become of the boy. Her son, her dear son deserved better than this. Kushina then felt a hand press reassuringly against her shoulder. She looked to her right and smiled at Hiruzen.
"My Queen, do not worry, we will find him." The knight tried to reassure her. Kushina smiled and mouth a 'thank you'. Though she felt a bit calmer, it was not enough to lessen her anxiousness. She needed to find her son. She needed to bring him back to safety. If only Minato had been here along with her. But alas, the King -reluctantly- remained at the castle. He needed to manage the country.
Kushina continued to stare out the window with a frown. She sighed when they reached the forest. Hiruzen was first to step out of the carriage. He held out his hand for the queen, in which she held as she stepped down.
She walked up to one of the trees and raised her hand. The woman shivered. The barrier was cold and broken. What had been made with warm power of the good, was now cold and murky. Kushina bit her lip. She was at a complete loss. The queen had no clue as to who would want to break the barrier. It obviously was not Naruto. The prince knew nothing of this. Had the barrier remained intact, the boy would have fell under unconsciousness, and Kushina would have realized the boy's absence sooner.
The Queen then stepped out of her shoes and gave them to a knight that stood next to her. She stepped into the grassy area and outstretched her toes. She closed her eyes and crunched the dirt under her feet. With a furrow of her eyebrows, Kushina gasped.
"What is wrong my Queen." One of the knights asked worriedly. Kushina held her hand to her heart and slowed her breathing.
"I-I… the connection." She spoke. The red headed queen gnawed at her lower lip. "It is faint, almost nonexistent." Kushina finished after some time.
"How is this possible?" Hiruzen asked. Kushina opened her eyes and looked back. She shook her head with sad eyes.
"I have…no clue." She replied. The knights exchanged worried looks with one another. Hiruzen looked down.
"Could it be that the Prince is with someone else?" He asked. Kushina bit her lip and shrugged.
"There is a possibility." She answered. Kushina then turned back around and closed her eyes. She walked deeper into the forest, moving the dirt under her feet around. Kushina scowled. Like this wasn't enough. The faint light of the moon shone through her eyelids. She needed complete and utter darkness. She held out her hand behind her. One of the knights handed her a blind fold and Kushina wrapped it over her eyes. Kushina then saw the path clear up.
As Kushina proceeded forward, she raised her eyebrow when she noticed her breath slowing. Like a ton of bricks, Kushina felt a strong pang in her lungs. The Queen couldn't breathe and she collapsed to the ground. She felt her eyes burn and heard the screeching caw of the crows in her ears. Kushina let out soundless hollers of pain as she curls her body and covers her ears tightly. When the screeching in her ears did not cease, Kushina pounded her head into the ground while yanking at her red hair. The caws were in her head, ringing in her subconscious.
Hiruzen ran over to the Queen. When he was in close proximity, Hiruzen was met with a kick to the side. Kushina scooted away from the knight in fear. As she scooted farther into the forest her breath hitched. Kushina winced and let out a loud groan. The farther she went into the forest, the pain in her lungs and eyes intensified greatly as well as the screeching in her ears. But when she tried to crawl out of the forest she saw frightening images. Blood, men covered in blood, walked close to her as she approached whom should have been the accompanying knights. Kushina, in midst of fear, kicked her legs wildly. She shook wildly, her at first soundless hollers were growing loud.
The knights tried to walk close to her and help, but she only kicked at them and backed away, then she would scream in pain and crawl closer, scream in fear and back away again. She seemed to be stuck in a box. Either she be caught in immense pain or she be caught in immense fear. Their queen was trapped. The knights continued to watch the scene in fear. They had no idea was happening in front of them. Neither did Kushina. They watched as her blind fold became damp with tears and she stilled. The Queen shook and muttered under her breath. Hiruzen watched with wide eyes.
"Naruto. Naruto. Naruto." He heard her chant to herself.
At this point Hiruzen had, had enough. "Come on!" He yelled to the knights behind him. Hiruzen hurried close to the queen, making her squirm and kick again. With a bit of hesitation the rest followed suit and attempted to grab her, but Kushina punched and kicked them with powerful blows. Finally they were able to grab her by her arms and began to pull her out of the forest. The ignored her sobbed mingled screams of fear as the pulled. Hiruzen closed his eyes. He hated having to cause such great distress to their Queen, but he felt it better to get her out of the forest and back to the castle rather than staying put and letting Kushina suffer in whatever pain she was feeling.
As soon as they pulled her out of the forest Kushina went silent. She drooped down onto the ground and the knights carrying her stared at her with widened eyes. Slowly Kushina lifted her head and stood up. The knights helped her stand straight. Kushina stood up on shaky legs, her breath long and ragged. Sniffling, she pulled off the moist blind fold, revealing her red puffy eyes.
"My Queen, are you…alright." One of the knights asked. Hiruzen was ready to snap angrily at the knight for having asked such a foolish question but was interrupted.
"I am fine now, thank you." Kushina said with a small smile. She looked back into the forest and stared. Hiruzen narrowed his eyes and frowned.
"What happened in there?" He asked. Kushina let out a shaky breath. She raised her shoulders and hugged her sides.
"I…"She gulped. "Have no idea, I cannot describe it." Kushina pressed her lips together. She walked a bit closer to the forest. She stared into the greenery in fear. But what was she supposed to do. Her son was in there and she was just about the only person who could locate him before… Kushina shook her head. She did not want to think about it any longer. Instead, Kushina rushed back into forest. The knights stood still in shock before rushing in after her.
"My Queen!" They yelled after her. Kushina continued running. The connection was there. She could barely feel it, but she tried her best to follow it. Kushina slowed her pace for a second when she was faced by the eyes again. She shook her head and quickened her pace again. She saw it once more. This time the eyes shined a bright red in anger and frustration. She ignored it. Suddenly everything was blury
At once, Kushina skidded to a stop. Her vision seemed to falter for a moment…and then it was gone. The connection was now broken and disorientated. It, leading her to different paths. Kushina stared ahead of her with wide eyes.
It was not possible. The magical connection between the mother and her child is something that could never be broken. Or at least should not have been. Kushina placed a hand over her heart and stared at the ground.
The knights ran to their Queen's side. They watched her with eyes full of worry. Kushina continued to stare at the ground absently. Tears began to well up in her swollen eyes.
"Naruto…"
"Bandits." He whispered quietly. I furrowed my eyebrows as I watched a group of men appear from behind the mask of trees and bushes. They were all short and skinny, except for one who was quite the opposite. They cackled with laughter and drank gulps of what seemed to be alcohol. From the looks of it they did not seem too harmless. Just what made them bandits?
"We are hiding from these buffoons?" I ask quietly. He simply shakes his head and he scoots us further towards the tree trunk. To our misfortune they all settled down on the ground and took out their weapons, wiping them. My eyes widen at the site. I inhale sharply and fidget. The man grasped my arm to hold me still. I had been trembling.
"Kekeke…did you see that man!" One of the men cackled. "'No! No! Don't hurt me!' Hah! That man. He really had another thin' coming." The rest of the men laughed along with him. We watch them quietly for a while longer before the man pushed me away from him. I was lunged forward and he quickly grabbed me by my cloak. Luckily the bandits were either too drunk or laughing too loudly to notice.
"Find some coordination will you." The man hissed quietly. I rolled my eyes and he helped me stand up. He puts a finger over his mouth and looks over to the other branches. He then grabs me by my waist and pulls me towards him.
"Hang on." He whispers. He then jumps to the next branch. We wobble a bit, before he steadies himself and then jumps onto the next branch. I clench my teeth in attempt to muffle any screams. My eyes are wide as he jumps from branch to branch. Is this man some kind of ape! I ask myself. When we are a good distance from the bandits, he lets me go. I stumble a bit on the branch and he quickly grabs my cloak.
"Would it kill you to be a bit gentler?" I yell angrily. He sighed and looked down to the branches below us. Once I am balanced on the branch, he lets go of my cloak. I began to pat down my cloak, and soon realize how high up we really are. I shake with wide eyes, my mouth widely ajar, as I begin to panic.
"H-How do you suppose we get down." I ask. When I look back up, the man was no longer there. I then look down and see him a couple branches below me.
"We climb down." He answers simply. My eyes are wide as I watch him jump down to the next branch without staggering in the least. He then looks back up to me. When then stare at each other for a while before he raises his hand and beckons me to come down. I glare at him.
"How do you suppose I get down!" I suddenly get the feeling he is glaring back.
"I was hoping you were able to fly… How else do you suppose to get down? Climb down!" He hissed back. I huffed angrily and bent down to sit on the branch. I stretch my foot onto the barely visible branch below me. Slowly, very slowly, I balance myself onto the branch. Thank goodness for the moonlight.
I look down and he is standing a few branches below me. He continues to watch me, tapping his foot on the thick branch. I roll my eyes at his impatience. I continue to slowly descend down the branches. Now, he no longer waits at the same branch. He quickly jumps down to the next branch.
"Would you mind waiting just a moment?" I ask him. He looked up to me and stared.
"No, hurry up." He replies. My eye twitches and I shake my head stiffly. This man is just so infuriating. I then stretch my leg down to the branch. Unfortunately, I could not seem to reach it.
"Be careful." He says, though his voice void of any emotion. I shake my head and huff.
"You do not have to be so-" Suddenly my foot slips. I gasp loudly as I hang off the branch. My eyes go wide as I try to keep my grasp onto the large branch. I groaned and grunted as I try to pull myself back up. After climbing a wall so many times, I would think I would have attained some form of climbing skill. Apparently not.
My hand then begins to slip. Next thing I know I am falling. My breath is caught in my throat and I can barely breathe. I am sure that I would plummet down onto a branch under me, but surprisingly I land into something softer. I heard strained coughing under me, followed by heavy breathing. When I open my eyes I realize that I had landed on the man.
"You should really watch where you are stepping next time." He coughed. My eyes widen as I lay atop of him, his arm wrapped around the small of my back. I can feel my face redden and I am quick to push myself off of him, cautiously might I add. He continues to lie down on the branch, trying to catch his breath. I furrow my eyebrows and stare at him.
"Are you okay?" He scoffed.
"Do I look okay?" He asks. I pout at him and tisk.
"I do not see why you had to save me." I reply. He then lifts his head and watches me. He sighs and attempts to sit up. He groans and grasps his chest.
"Did you want to die?" He asks me. I scowl and purse my lips. He continues to watch and sighs.
"Exactly, now stop complaining and we shall be on our way." He grunts as he stands up.
"But it is the middle of the night." I say. He simply replies with a shrug.
"Come on, grab my hand." He says. I shake my head and grab onto his hand. He lifts me up and holds me by my waist. He then jumps and we land safely onto the ground. I now realize how far down we, or rather I had fallen. I hear him wince slightly when I let go. I quickly turn to him.
"Are you okay?" I find myself asking again. He shakes it off, saying he is fine. With that we continue further ahead in the dead of night. I am surprised how he could see as the forest becomes thicker, blocking out the moonlight. When I begin to trip over the rocks and outgrowing roots of the trees, he turns.
With a sigh he speaks. "I suppose we should rest here." I smile. Happy that I could finally rest. My feet were starting to really hurt.
"Thank goodness, so where do we sleep?" I ask. He begins to settle himself on the ground.
"Anywhere you want." He replies, while motion to our surroundings.
"On the ground?" I question incredulously.
"Is it not satisfactory for you, my Prince?" He snarls. I bit my lip and 'humph' at him. I sat on a patch of grass, a small distance away from him and lied down. My back was towards him, but I could feel his gaze on me. He simply grunted and then I heard him flop down.
"Sir?" I called. He grunted.
"Thank you…for saving me." I say. He hums. I look over my shoulder and sigh. Lifting my hand to take off my mask, I speak once more.
"Goodnight." I tell him.
"Sweet dreams." He tiredly replies a moment after. For some reason I felt a smile begin to creep up onto my face.
So I hope you liked the chapter.
