Chapter 7
"A Nobody doesn't have a right to know. Nor does it even have the right to be."
When Xenon was finally alone in her room, she finally allowed her thoughts to catch up to her. Alexi was acting strange, too much so for her liking. Almost...as if she wasn't the Alexi she knew just days before. She didn't enjoy seeing the way her friend was acting. However, a big part of Xenon knew Xion had a part in her friend's sudden mood change and Xenon couldn't blame her; Xion was a bitch.
Xenon sighed and sat up on her bed, pulling her knees up to her chest. She wasn't sure what to do with these thoughts. surely she couldn't go to Xemnas about this; he wouldn't like that she was...feeling. But, maybe Zexion would know?
Yeah, that sounded good. Xenon quickly left her room, knowing the slate haired boy was bound to be in the library. She was right, of course, and Zexion looked up at her arrival. "Xenon..."
"Hi," The girl murmured, sitting across from the boy. "Can I...can I ask you something?"
Zexion closed the book he had been reading and nodded. "Of course."
The girl hesitated. "...Alexi is...starting to act strange."
"How so?" Zexion asked, tilting his head.
"She's...angrier?" Xenon tried, shrugging. "I don't know how to explain it but...she's not the...same as before..."
"Axel was mentioning the same thing," Zexion nodded. "The rest of us, as well, have noticed it. She's...simply going through a phase, is all. I'm sure she's fine."
"But xion is making her worse," Xenon muttered, frowning. Her dark eyes narrowed slightly. "Xion and Alexi don't get along...but Saix paired us up with her...I think Alexi will seriously kill her is given the chance..."
Zexion was quiet for a few long moment. "...Don't let her do that, Xenon."
Xenon looked up, seeing for the first time worry on Zexion's face. "Don't let her. Nothing good will result from that...it'll make things worse. Alexi is-"
"Zexion," Xemnas' voice made both Xenon and Zexion jerk. Their superior cocked his head curiously. "Zexion, Vexen was looking for you."
Zexion sighed a bit, standing. "Alright."
Xenon watched the boy leave and then was left alone with Xemnas. The man stared at her, a soft smile on his lips. "You look...lost in thought, Xenon."
Xenon shrugged, standing slowly and glancing away. Xemnas chuckled a bit. "What's troubling you, dear?"
"...Xion," Xenon replied quietly.
Xemnas raised an eyebrow. "What about her?"
Xenon opened her mouth but then stopped, shaking her head. "Nothing...do you know where Alexi is?"
Xemnas nodded slowly. "She's in the Gray room."
Xenon went to walked past Xemnas, but the man's voice had her frozen in her spot. "You'd be better off not asking so many questions, Xenon. Nothing good happens when a Nobody starts thinking."
Xenon grew wide-eyed before hurrying away, a frown on her lips. She felt the man's eyes on her as she walked away, felt the shiver of...of something run through her.
Was she scared?
Alexi was in the Gray room after all, Axel and Roxas beside her. The red-head was obviously trying to get the blonde to go somewhere with him but judging by the look on alexi's face, she wasn't going anywhere. Axel frowned, looking up to see Xenon enter the room. "Xenon! Great! Alexi's being a spoil sport; help us get her to go with us."
"Where to?" Xenon murmured, mildly curious.
"The clock tower," Roxas answered, a small smile on his lips. "It's our day off so we wanted to get Sea Salt Ice Cream with you guys."
Now that sounded wonderful to Xenon. How long had it been since the four of them hung out without arguing?
She turned to Alexi, a hand on her hip. "Let's go."
The blonde looked at her, blue eyes clouded over with thought. "...I'm busy."
"With what?" Xenon questioned, a frown on her lips.
Alexi shrugged. "I...was going to see if Marley needed help with-"
"Marluxia's not here," Roxas dead panned.
Alexi sighed, looking away. Axel felt a pang of guilt before he smiled, walking in front of her and kneeling so that he was eye level with her. "Come on, Alexi. I miss you."
Alexi felt her face grow warm before she sighed again, a soft smile on her lips. "...Alright, Alright."
Smiling at their success, the others hauled Alexi through a corridor. They arrived on the clock tower, Roxas and Axel leaving to get the ice cream. Alexi and Xenon sat on the ledge, Xenon looking at the blonde. "...Why didn't you want to come?"
Alexi hesitated, looking down at the town below them. "...I didn't want to hear Axel talking about Xion all the time."
"You...really don't like Xion," Xenon murmured lightly. "Is it because she's always with Axel?"
Alexi hesitated, as if she didn't want to reply. "...For the most part...yes...It..makes me burn up with a desire to...to hurt her."
"I believe that's called anger," Xenon said with the smallest of smiles. She cocked her head to the side. "...You know, I'm sure Axel likes being with you more than he does with her."
Alexi shrugged barely. "...We're discussing feelings we don't have, Xenon."
"Like you believe that," Xenon muttered back.
Alexi managed a small smile. "...I just don't like Xion. I feel like she's trying to irritate me on purpose."
"I kinda noticed," Xenon nodded idly. "What reason would she have for doing so, though?"
Alexi shrugged and sighed as she gazed at the sky. "...I dunno...I just...I feel like somethings happening." She frowned and looked down at her lap, fiddling with her hands. "...I feel like there's something no one is telling us...like we're part of something and have no idea. It's...unsettling...and it makes me nervous."
Xenon tilted her head in slight confusion. "You...think Xemnas is hiding something?"
"It's obvious he is." Alexi hissed, turning narrowed eyes on her friend as her fists clenched in her lap. "Can't you tell? There's so much I don't understand...things that I just don't get. He told us we don't have hearts...well, then how are we even alive? He said we have no emotions, but then why do we enjoy being together? Why does Xion anger me so much? Why do I...why do I feel, Xenon? There's something he's keeping from us!"
Xenon looked away. She would admit that yes, Alexi had a point. However, her earlier conversation with Zexion had her frowning. Xenon took a deep breath and looked blankly at Alexi. "You shouldn't speak like that. You'll anger Xemnas...if we were meant to know, then we would know. It's none of our business."
Alexi wanted to yell something in response, but Axel and Roxas were suddenly back. Alexi fell silent, taking her ice cream from Axel and licking it lightly. Axel smiled a bit. "It's nice to hang out again, all four of us."
Roxas smiled a bit too. "Yeah...it's nice."
Xenon nodded and glanced at Alexi, a bit satisfied to see a small smile on the blonde's face.
Alexi allowed herself to smile. Yes, she was still very confused and still had many questions...but right now...Axel and her friends were here. With a grin, Alexi elbowed Axel and the red head blinked. He smirked. "Jerk."
Alexi stuck her tongue out at him. "Nuh uh."
"You wait," Axel warned, licking his ice cream. "I'll get you back, Alexi."
"I'd like to see you try, Axel." Alexi breathed, Axels name tasting wonderful on her lips.
The friends fell into their usual banter. Teasing. Joking. Laughing. It felt better, at least to both Alexi and Xenon. It was less tense, though both of them knew the tension would be back soon. But for now, they were content enough to enjoy the company of each other. At least for today.
Alexi was willing to keep her mouth shut...at least for now.
Really crappy sorry, but it'll be better once I get around to the next chapter. Reviews maybe?
