Happy New Years, lovelies! Hope you all had a great Valentine's day, too.
I had this idea, and had written part of this, months ago. Everyone knows by now about Punk's unhappiness with WWE and his departure, (I support him 100% for having the balls to say and do something about the politicking in the 'E *coughTRIPS&HISCREWcough*) so that was very ironic to me :)
Special thanks to January Blu (love you sis & I WILL be catching up on your BTR and your new story today. Promise!), xLifeFullOfLaughterx (you're so sweet), and K00kieDokie (I'm still here, just been uber busy) ! Thanks for sticking with me and there's still way more to come. :)
OMG! I'm soooooooo excited that Lita is getting inducted into the HoF! With everything that the WWE has been doing wrong lately, they finally did one thing right! To me, she's the best women's wrestler of this era. Sorry Trish.
Ch. 26: Stable
Sky's POV
I know everyone's been waiting for the other shoe to drop. Hell, I've been waiting too.
I woke up this morning with a feeling. I just knew something was gonna go wrong today. I just knew it.
Today started off normal. We're in Rhode Island. In our hotel room. We get up, do our morning thing, get our workout on, and head to the arena. All normal, right?
So, here's where the bullshit started. I'm heeling it up over on ECDub. Feud with Kelly squared going strong. So, when I walk out on the makeshift set to shoot our little segment, I'm thinking everything's all good.
Boy was I wrong. As soon as the higher ups saw me, I was called over to the side. Jane, who's over the diva's division, had her assistant stand with me while she went and talked to the higher, higher ups.
"What's this about?" I asked her assistant, John. His response was a pointed look at my side. I looked down at my tattoo. "The tat?" I questioned, already with a bad feeling. He nodded. "So, my tattoo is bad?" I asked. He didn't respond. He just looked down at his organizer and began to type.
I stood in confused silence until Jane made her way over to me. "What's up?" I asked her, before she could even say anything. She gave me a disappointed look before she spoke. "Skylar. I wish you would've come to me before you did that." She said, pointing to my mermaid tattoo, the blue crop top I'm wearing showing it off in full.
"What's wrong with my tattoo?" I asked, that bad feeling getting worse by the second. "Well, that's not the type of image we were looking for, for you. If it was smaller, it wouldn't have been a big deal. But it's huge, and we can't cover it." And there it is.
"Wait. You're saying that I need your permission before I do something to my body?" That bad feeling of mine was quickly being replaced with a feeling of anger. I tried my hardest to keep my voice calm.
"Don't think of it that way. It's just that we have a plan for all of you, and with that tattoo, it's completely deterred our whole idea." She sighed, as if I'm the one in the wrong. I mean, she's basically saying that I can't do anything to myself without their permission. Which is complete and total bullshit.
But I'm gonna keep my mouth closed. This is my dream job, and I'm pretty sure mouthing off to Jane wouldn't be in my best interest. "Well, I didn't mean to muck up your plans for me." I calmly spoke.
"I know you are, Skylar. And I like you. And I also think you still have a bright future here." She gave me a smile. I gave her a stiff one back.
"So here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna write you out of the show for a few weeks. Don't consider it a punishment, because it's really not. A punishment would be suspension." She lightly chuckled. I raised a brow at her. Was that supposed to be a joke?
"So, I'm not suspended, but I'm being written off the show. And basically losing my storyline?" I questioned, not able to completely keep my smart mouth from yapping. "Until we find something that fits your new image, yes." She still had that weird smile on her face. I'm guessing she's thinking that smile's supposed to be assuring. Wrong.
"So, what do I do? Stay home until I get the call from you guys?" I asked, ready to just go back to the hotel and mope. "You're not suspended, so you're still expected follow the schedule as planned." I didn't respond with words. I just nodded. She gave me a reassuring shoulder tap before she and her assistant walked back over to their post.
I stood there for about a few minutes just staring in space. Pissed would be an understatement for me right now. I'm borderline livid. Jeff gave me a wave as he made his way to the mens locker room. I barely even noticed him, but I did manage to wave back.
Barbie managed to get me out of my mind rage by grabbing my hand and silently leading me to the women's locker room. "You're upset. What happened?" She asked, concern etched in her facial expression.
"I know you know that our storyline is over." I gave her a look. She nodded. "Yeah. But they didn't explain why. Just told me that I was back to doing my exposés."
"This is the reason." I sighed, pointing to my tattooed side. "Your tattoo's not healed all the way?" She asked. That made me smile a little. Her naiveté is a bit endearing. "No. They didn't give me permission to tat my body. So they're pissed." I scoffed.
"You got in trouble because you got a tattoo?" She gasped. I nodded. "Apparently our rights don't apply in the WWE." I shrugged. "Oh boy. Did Punk hear about it yet?" She asked, eyes beginning to bug out.
Shit. I didn't even think of him. I knew the news of my in-work suspension would spread, soon, but I completely blanked on his reaction. "I don't know. I need to go find him." I was already halfway out of the door when I said that.
I practically ran like a maniac backstage until I found him finishing up a convo with Chavo. Chavo gave me a smile and a wave as he walked past me. When I made it to Punkin, he already had his mad face in place. Complete with the paternal arms folded across his chest pose.
I sighed. "So, you heard?" I began, trying to keep my voice calm. "They're totally sexist." He frowned. "You're right. But that's the way it's always been, dude." I shrugged. His frown got deeper.
"And you're just accepting it. You, out of all people. This is ridiculous." Oh great, now he's mad at me. "So what was I supposed to do? Mouth off to Jane and then lose my job?" I managed to get my anger across without yelling, total plus.
"You didn't have to mouth off, Sky. But accepting their hypocrisy without so much as a roll of you eyes is just… I don't even know." He shook his head at me. "I didn't accept their hypocrisy. If it wasn't for Jane 'liking' me, I would've been suspended. I'd rather not be suspended, Phil." I explained, barely containing my anger.
"But that's conforming, Sky." He sighed, the anger he was hurling toward me melting away. "I know it is. And trust me. It was hard as hell to keep my mouth closed when she was talking to me. But you gotta play the game in this business. You know that." I gave him a soft smile, grabbing his arms and unfolding them.
"I know. Doesn't mean I have to like it." The frown on his face had turned into an adorable pout. "I don't like it, either. But I'm still here, so that's a plus."
Punk's POV
It's been a few weeks since Sky got reprimanded for doing something that she wanted to do to her own body. And she's been mopey as ever.
We're in the Chi tonight, so she perked up a little bit at the fact that she's gonna get to see her best friend, Shelly. Other than that, she's been a zombie girl.
After the show, she made me take her to her house. I was skeptical at first, seeing as though she went through all of that trauma there, but she was cool about it. Yet another reason why I love her, she's strong as hell. She says the house doesn't bother her anymore.
Even with her newfound strength, she still managed to be pissed about her work situation. I managed to cheer her up a tiny bit with a slew of new Fantastic Four comics. She's completely into them, now. Total plus, and totally hot.
She was sitting on the couch reading one when Shelly showed up. Without Jug, strangely. "Good evening, madam." I gave her a grin, opening the door for her. She scoffed as she passed me, giving me an annoyed glare to go with it. Okay.
I closed the door and followed her into the den where Sky was chilling on her yellow couch. She took one look at Shelly and put her book down on the coffee table in front of her, then held her arms out to her friend. Shelly immediately ran into them, sitting down on the couch and resting her head on Sky's little shoulder.
I watched the two in silent amusement as Sky gently rubbed small circles into Shelly's back. "Do I need to kill him?" Sky spoke after a few silent minutes. It caught me completely off guard. I didn't know who she wanted to kill, first off.
"Maybe later. Missed you too much to let you leave." Shelly answered, voice cracking. That's when I got it. She was crying. And the him Sky's talking about is Jug.
"Want me to kill him, then?" I asked, breaking into their little reunion, but at least I did it with a smile. Shelly leaned up and turned her head to look at me. She cut me a half smile. "Yeah. You can definitely kill him. But not now. Get over here. I need my bro hug." She rested her head back on Sky's shoulder, holding an arm out for me.
I sat beside her and let her pull me into her side, making her a Shelly sandwich. "Nice to know that you don't want to have me killed." I teased, making her chuckle softly. "Sorry about that. You're the first guy I've seen since I got into it with James. It was involuntary." She explained her earlier actions with a soft voice. Not something I'm used to from loud ass Shelly Martinez.
"Okay. Tell me what that idiot friend of his did to you." Sky asked, getting straight into it. I figured it was my cue to leave, seeing as though they're about to go full on girl-talk mode. But nope, as soon as I let Shelly go and stood up, she grabbed my hand. Giving me her best set of doe eyes, she silently asked me to stay. I inwardly groaned. I know Sky taught her that damn look.
I sighed and reclaimed my seat beside her. Reluctantly all ears for her explanation. "He's my friend now?" I questioned with a grin. Sky shot me a grin right back. "Whenever he does something stupid, he's your friend. Which is always, so yeah. Definitely your friend. Now back to it, you. What'd that idiot do?" She focused her attention back on her best friend again.
Shelly took a deep breath before she began. I have a feeling that I'm gonna be here all night.
"Okay. You know we were looking for a house here, right?" She began, to which Sky and I both nodded. "We found one. Even made a down payment yesterday." She continued. Sky raised a brow at me.
"Okay. So what's the problem? Shouldn't we be planning your very own awkward housewarming party?" I playfully shook my head at Sky's smirking face. I know she's been waiting to tease Shelly about that party for a while now.
"Not funny. Anyway, James and I were gonna celebrate by ourselves." Sky's grin turned into a sly little smirk at that statement. Noticing my confused expression, she explained. "They were gonna do it, you clueless nerd." She burst into laughter, Shelly catching my now slightly embarrassed face, joined in with her.
"Oh, hilarious. I'm gonna go ahead and go, now. I really don't wanna know about how you and Jughead get down and dirty." I said, easing my way up. They both looked at me with eyes that clearly said 'sit your ass back down'. I listened and sat my ass back down with a sigh.
"Anyway. Last night was the night." Sky let out an 'awww' at that. It took me a few seconds to catch on to what she meant by that one. Then my eyes bugged out. "You mean to tell me that you two have been together for a year and you've never had sex?" Shocked is not the word for what I'm feeling about that little tidbit.
Shelly narrowed her eyes at me. "Why? What has he been saying to you?" She gave me a scathing look, making me want to squirm or something. "Nothing. We don't really talk about our sex lives, Shell." I reassured her, truthfully. Me and Jug never talk about that. But apparently our girls do.
"We wanted to wait a while, you know. To make sure we were right for each other before we crossed over into that territory." Shelly explained. The way she put it actually did sound kind of romantic. Who woulda thought that 'ol Jughead's all romantic.
"So, what went wrong?" Sky asked. I was about two seconds away from spontaneously combusting, I was so red. This is really not how I pictured my night going. At all. "We were getting into it, right." Shelly began as Sky nodded. She's really into the story when I want to bolt.
"He scoops me up to carry me to the bed when he freaking trips over one of my heels on the floor. And of course he drops me." Sky gave her a sympathizing frown while I tried hard as hell to hold in my laugh.
"Then there was a fiasco with my bra. And I'm too damn embarrassed to even talk about the teeth and lace incident." Shelly looked a little mortified that she even spoke that part aloud.
"So, you didn't do it?" Sky's little nosy self asked. Shelly laughed at her friend, used to it by now. "Yeah we did. But it was so awkward." She shuddered. Sky gave me a smirk before looking back at Shelly's crestfallen face. Now I'm the one shuddering, knowing exactly what she was about to do.
"Don't feel bad, Shell. Our first time was awkward as hell, too." That snapped Shelly out of her funk long enough to look back and forth between Sky and I. "Really? Care to share? It'll make me feel much better about my crappy life." She gave us a little pathetic grin.
"This one here had a bad case of the shivers." Sky began, giving me a bright smile before turning her attention back to Shelly. I groaned. "So, the whole, him taking off my clothes all sexy like, were out of the question. Then he kept doing the cutest little laugh whenever my tongue would come in contact with his skin. And that was all above the waist."
She looked over at me, big smile of hers still intact. Shelly cut me a glance, giving me a smirk of her own. I just shook my head at them. Having her retell our weird ass 'first time' isn't really embarrassing, just a little awkward what with me sitting here and all.
"When the actual nakedness ensued, he stared at me for like, forever. Big weirdo." Yeah, that's something I'm not embarrassed at all by. I mean, it was my first time seeing my high school crush in the nude. Hell yeah I was gonna take a good long look. I wanted that image burned into my mind. And damned if it isn't.
"Then there was the whole him flipping me over and clucking my head on the headboard. And me rolling onto the stereo remote, startling myself and kicking him in the head. Somehow I ended up going cavewoman on him and knocked the both of us to the floor and into a dresser. That awkward enough for ya?" She finished her story with a grin.
Shelly looked between us both again and burst into another fit of laughter. "God. That sounded like something from a cheesy romantic comedy." Shelly commented once she had calmed.
"Romantic, yes. Comedic, definitely. But it wasn't cheesy to me. It was imperfectly perfect." Sky was saying that to Shell, but her green eyes were on me. I gave her a half smile at her words and she winked back before giving her attention to Shelly again.
"That's adorable. But I don't know if what went on with Jug and I could be called anything but awkward." Shelly sighed. "Okay. Here's the difference between you guys first time and ours. You were thinking about it too much. Wanting it to be perfect instead of just going with the flow, so to speak, and just having fun. Sex is supposed to be fun, you know." She gave Shelly a playful poke on the side.
"Good point." Shelly agreed with her. "I know. Him being all nervous to take my clothes off was so sweet and endearing to me. And when he banged my head against the headboard, I was the one laughing, and vise versa with me kicking him in the face. So yeah, we were totally awkward. But we enjoyed the hell out of it." She gave me another smile. Shelly looked over at me with an expectant grin.
"You've been quiet the whole time, Inky. Which is definitely weird. What's your take on this?" She asked me. "Uh, I agree with Sky." I grinned back, hoping that that was enough to quell her inquiring mind.
I guess it was, cause her grin grew wider before she turned her attention back to Sky. "Look at it this way, Shell. We went from super awkward bodily harm to super sexy bodily pleasure. Just keep at it until you two aren't awkward anymore." She grinned at her friend. Her friend turned her attention back to me. "What do you think?" She asked me.
"If at first you don't succeed, try, try, again." I replied, silently hoping that this topic of conversation is over. "Thanks, you two. I'm definitely gonna take your advice. Now onto something that won't weird out Punk, guess who I met at the animal rights event I went to last week?"
And from there, it was back to our regularly scheduled 'lets catch up' programming. We chatted for about an hour and a half until her phone rang. It was the man of the hour, Jug. Apparently, she'd been avoiding him all day since their little fiasco. So her answering for him was some kind of big deal.
They made up over the phone and Shelly decided to take our advice, like right now. Thanking us again for the advice, and also promising not to tease me too much about that little story, she cut her visit short and was out of the door. She also promised Skylar that she'd be back tomorrow to spend the whole day with her, so that's definitely a plus. Anything to make Sky smile is a plus in my book.
She was back to the comics again when I came back from walking Shelly out. I took a seat beside her and wrapped my arm around her shoulder. As usual, she scooted closer to me and cuddled into my side.
After a few silent minutes, she finally spoke. "Can you believe that we're the stable couple people come to for advice?" She looked at me, quirking an eyebrow. I gave her a smirk back. "Not really. That's pretty cool, huh?" I didn't even think about that.
Normally, we're the couple that's always the butt of a joke. Or we're the dysfunctional couple 'stable' couples warn people about how not to have a relationship. But now we're the stable couple giving out relationship advice.
"Cool indeed, dude."
I have an idea for another story, (don't need another WIP, but I can't get this idea out of my head). It's about an OC of mine that I've been creating on all of my WWE games for years. The leading man in this story is Roman Reigns, cause he's gorg and he's perfect for what I have planned. Punk's gonna be in it, too as my OC's friend, by the way. So, with your thoughts about this chapter, could you lovelies please let me know if it's something you'd be interested in reading?
Once again, I hope you all enjoyed this latest installment.
