Another attempt to summon Crowley. They'd been trying since the incident. He never came. Somehow he was managing to avoid them, some magic of other kinds. It wasn't clear, but whatever it was, it worked.
"Damn it!" Dean barked, raking his fingers through his hair. " Cas has been stuck there for years Sam!"
"I know Dean..."
"I've spent all this time trying to get him out... but no one will sing a deal, and it's not like we can just march into hell and-"
"Dean." Sam gripped him by the shoulders, "You're pacing. Calm yourself."
"Sammy... I- I didn't get to tell him..."
"I know Dean."
Dean looked outraged, "What do you mean you know?! You don't know anything! This is all Gabriel's fault, and it was your idea to help him! Damn it Sam!" he slapped his brother's hands away, "Where has that fussy son of a bitch been anyway?! Off god knows where, livin' it up while Cas rots?!"
Sam slapped Dean. "Shut up you dick! Gabriel has been ripping Earth apart to find a way to save him! He blames himself for it enough without your mouthing off! Now just sit down and shut up! Take a chill pill. Jesus..."
Dean was taken back. He turned to his bed, perching on it's end. He took two deep breaths before muttering to himself once more. "He should blame himself."
Sam shot Dean a deadly glare. He snatched up his jacket before stomping angrily out the door. The tall man slouched as he stalked across the parking lot, shoving his hands violently into his pockets. Everyone had been wound up since the incident. Gabriel would come to him crying very often. He was an angel of god, a heavenly soldier on the battlefield, and he ran to Sam crying. He'd blubber often about how it was his fault that Cas made the deal with Crowley, that everyone was at each other's throats.
He and Dean hadn't been on good terms for a while now. It was hard on everyone.
Sam's face softened as he thought of Gabriel. he'd started spending more and more time with him since his brother became distant. They'd had sex a lot. It was a good distraction from everything else. There was still life to go though, hunting monsters and the works. Dean was out of his head about losing Cas, and the way he'd started to hunt was scary. Sam shivered as he recalled the dark grin plastered across his brother's face when he sliced the head off a vampire, or the near chuckle he'd produced after burning a corpse. Dean was losing himself.
"Sam..."
Sam spun around instantly, seeing Gabriel beside him. Running purely on instinct, Sam grabbed up the angel, nearly breaking him with his fierce hug.
"We-Well it's good too uh.. see you too Sam..." Gabe grinned.
Sam buried his face in the angel's neck, his hair just barely poking into his cheek and nose. He slipped his fingers beneath Gabriel's shirt, slipping it up just enough to expose a bit of skin. Sam gingerly started nibbling on his earlobe, nearly moaning himself when the angel let out a small gasp. "S-Sam... We're in public... I mean... your brother is just over there..."
"Screw him." Sam snapped, pulling away suddenly.
Gabriel frowned, "Another fight?"
"When are we not fighting these days?"
Gabriel ran loving hands up and down Sam's arms, "We'll figure something out. I don't know what it'll be yet... but something's gotta work. Things can't continue like this... and... if we wait much longer... Cas may give up on us."
"Cas would never give up on Dean."
Dean watched his brother and the angel that ruined his life fondle each other on the far end of the motel parking lot. Rage bubbled up in his stomach. Every time he saw Gabriel he felt murderous. Every hunt had been changed in his mind, every time they burned someone's bones, he imagined burning Gabriel alive. Shoot a monster, Gabriel. Rip the head off a vampire, Gabriel. Hunt after hunt, all killing Gabriel. Dean scoffed. His imagination wasn't enough for him anymore. It was never satisfying enough. He'd changed maybe too much since he lost Cas, and that bastard seemed to be the cause of all his problems.
Even before the bastard fell in love with his brother, their first meeting, Mystery spot, the whole TV world thing... then there was 'the test'. After all that, Sam and Cas just had to help him get his grace back. Cas went to hell. Everything was Gabriel's fault.
There it was again. Dean smirked to himself, Gabriel's head would look pretty on a stick.
