Another original song I wrote for my brony rock album. This is about a young colt who lost his mother, Ruby Drift, in a fire. He feels guilt because he could've pulled her out of a pile of rubble, which would've saved her. This takes place 10 years later.
Mother (Ruby Drift)
{Acoustic guitar playing a '1, 2-and' rhythm}
[Verse 1]
Another day
It's time to start over
Another day
In which I never thought I would
See your face
But now I know
You'll always keep me safe
And now I hope
That you see
How ba-a-ad
I need you with me
Mother
Are you out there?
O Mother
I miss you, I swear {one guitar strum per word in the last line}
[Chorus]
{back to original rhythm and riff with a cymbal crash}
Another day
I'm bent and broken
To a better life
You were my token
So I realize
How bad I fucked up
To your demise
I made you succumb.
{intro plays again for about 30 seconds}
[Verse 2]
Another day
In which I visit
Your grave
The guilt never
seems to shave
I sit and I cry
Knowing
That I let you die {one guitar strum per word in the last line}
Chorus]
{back to original rhythm and riff with a cymbal crash}
Another day
I'm bent and broken
To a better life
You were my token
So I realize
How bad I fucked up
To your demise
I made you succumb.
{very simple acoustic guitar solo based on the main riff]
[Bridge]
Andevery time
I see your picture
On the shelf,
I just can't
Ever forgive myself
But, mother
I hope you'll forgive me
But please look away.
I don't want you to see
{a gunshot}
