AN: Hey guys! I'm back! I hope you enjoy this chapter! Also check out my other story, Water Under a Broken Bridge! Anyways, on with the chapter!
Callie POV
"Sweetie, slow down. You'll give yourself a tummy ache." My mother laughed at me as I shoveled the spaghetti in my mouth.
"It's not my fault you're such a great cook." I said, or mumbled because I had a mouthful of noodles.
"Yeah Mommy! You make tasty food!" I laughed as Jude smiled, sauce staining his teeth. Suddenly, I jumped, hearing the front door slam shut. My father walked in, looking angry as ever.
"Donald? What's wrong." My mother said with concern.
"I'll tell you what's wrong. My fucking boss gave David the promotion, who is a temp, who was only there for 4 months, while I have been working there for 8 damn years!" My father screamed, scaring Jude, so I walked over and hugged him. He was covering his ears with his face scrunched up, something I was used to seeing. My parents fought a lot, are my dad would yell a lot, so we were used to this. They always seemed to make up though.
"I'm sure you'll get the next one." My mother said in a sweet voice, putting her hand on her cheek, just to have it be slapped away by my father.
"Emily, I'm so sick of this. I don't wanna fucking wait around for some damn promotion that my boss is just going to fucking give away to whoever walks through the damn door." He screamed right in her face.
"Donald, you've been drinking. I can smell it. Why don't you ju-" My mother was cut off by my father slapping her. He never hit her, at least not that I knew. I grabbed Jude's hand and pulled him into the corner, where he cried into my shirt, his body wracking with sobs.
"I don't need some bitch telling me what to do. C'mon. We're going out." He grabbed her hand and yanked her through the door. All I heard was her screaming something about us being too young to have to be alone, and him saying he didn't care. That was the last time I saw my mother.
"Where's Mommy? Callie, I want Mommy here." Jude was crying on my shoulder as we sat in the police station. While I was only 10, they had to tell me that my father crashed the car because he was drunk, was arrested, and that my mother was killed due to excessive bleeding and severe head trauma. I had yet to tell Jude, he was only 6, and I didn't want to have to ruin his life, but I had to tell him at some point. I guess that that time was now.
"Baby, Mommy and Daddy were in an accident. Mommy didn't make it and Daddy was taken to jail." He started shaking and couldn't stop crying, breaking my heart. "I'm so sorry baby, but we'll be okay. You have me, and I have you. I love you, Jude.
I kept writing my Dad, but he stopped writing back 5 months ago. I gave up. I was now 14 and living in a really nice foster home, so I didn't worry about my dad. The Olmsted's were the nicest foster family I had. Their son Liam was so nice, and would always hide a chocolate bar in my backpack for lunch at school, he told me I was special every chance I got. And for the first time since I've seen my mother, I truly believed it.
It was risky wanting to go with my dad, knowing what he did in the past, but I had to do this, for myself, for Jude, and possibly for Brandon and I.
