Guys, I totally suck, and I know. But, hey! Here's an update! Hope you like it and don't hate me! Please review!
Ally's POV
My fingers slid across the keyboard, emotion filling my voice, singing the song I had just finished working on.
Wa-oh! Yeah!
Stop, Hiding out in the shadows
Scared to show the world you exist
Don't lock yourself in the darkness
The world is so much brighter than this
Yeah, if you never take a shot
You're never gonna win
So turn it all around
And break down the walls, whoa
Don't be afraid to let them fall
Break down the walls
Whoa
And you can dare to have it all
Come on and give it everything you can
Take a chance, make a stand
and break, break, break down the walls
B-b-b-break down the walls, yeah
Change
You can find it inside it
You don't have the strength that it takes
Oh with dreams
You can twist every system
You finally look it straight in the face
'Cause if you're never gonna take a shot, you're never gonna win
So find a way somehow
And break down the walls, whoa
Don't be afraid to let them fall
Break down the walls, whoa
And you can dare to have it all
Come on and give it everything you can
Take a chance, make a stand
and break, break, break down the walls
Don't wanna watch them tumble down
Feel all the doubt
Just come on out
And let the light come pouring in
In!
Just break down the walls, whoa
Don't be afraid to let them fall
Break down the walls, whoa
And you can dare to have it all
Come on and give it everything you can
Take a chance, make a stand,
and break, break, break down the walls, whoa
Break down the walls, whoa
Break down the walls, whoa
Come on and take a chance, make a stand
and break, break, break down the walls!
I slowly lifted my fingers from the keyboard, taking a big breath. I suddenly heard soft clapping from the doorway. I turned and saw Austin leaning against the door, a huge grin on his face.
"Austin!"
"Ally, that was beautiful."
I immediately felt my cheeks heat up, and I was about to tell him to leave when he walked further into the room.
"Ally, please don't freak out. I've barely spoken to you in months, please don't make some excuse to leave. It was beautiful."
I felt guilty, knowing I had been avoiding being alone with him for the longest time. I gave him an apologetic look. "We hang out almost every day, Austin."
He sighed and came and sat down by me on the piano bench. "Yeah, but we never really talk, and you know that's true."
I just nodded, not having the energy to deny him at the moment. "Look, Ally. I know things have been awkward and everything, but I want to move past that. Can't we at least be friends?"
I thought for less than a second, "Of course we can." I gave him the best smile I could, and I was surprised it was genuine when I felt so out of place.
He just smiled back, bumping my shoulder slightly. "Will you play again for me?"
"Austin-"
"Ally please. That song was awesome, like totally beyond amazing."
"I can't sing in front of people." I said, a little ashamed, for the first time.
"How about we take it slow? You play, I'll sing."
I looked up at him, surprised. He would really do that? "Really?"
"Of course Ally. I've actually wanted to do this for a while, but you've been so evasive."
"Sorry."
"It's alright. So, do you want to do this song, or do you have another you want to play?"
I thought, "I have tons actually." I remembered the perfect song to sing, "Here," I opened my songbook to the right page, "this one."
"Double take. Alright, let's do this."
I started playing the piano, and I could see Austin smiling slightly while reading the lyrics. I couldn't help but think that this was the start of something completely new.
And let me tell you. I had definitely missed just spending time with Austin alone. And we're finally doing something with music, I guess we'll see how this goes.
Austin's POV
To say I was surprised when she actually agreed to let me sing with her, while she plays, that would be an understatement. In fact, I'm simply happy she didn't kick me out. Singing is something I never thought would have happened today.
I've missed her, so freaking much. I mean, I see her everyday, like she said. But...I miss HER.
As I read the lyrics to her song Double Take, I couldn't help but smile. It was an absolutely great song, I couldn't wait to sing it.
She started playing.
Flip a switch,
Turn on the lightning,
Get it right
Show 'em how it's done
Free it up
No matter how you dress that song
Girl you know, you got a number one
Go with it, you got 'em where you want 'em
Drop the beat, they need to hear your sound
Play it up
It's comin' down to you right now
They wanna know, know, know
Your name, name, name
They want the girl, girl, girl
With game, game, game
And when they look, look, look
Your way, way, way
You're gonna make, (make), make, (make), make 'em do a double take
Make 'em do a double take
Yeah, yeah!
This could be an overnight sensation
You and me, tearin' up the floor
Let it go, this party's up to you right now
They wanna know, know, know
Your name, name, name
They want the girl, girl, girl
With game, game, game
And when they look, look, look
Your way, way, way
You're gonna make, make, make 'em do a double take
Know, know, know
Your name, name, name
They want the girl, girl, girl
With game, game, game
And when they look, look, look
Your way, way, way
You're gonna make, (make), make, (make), make 'em do a double take
Come on!
They wanna know, know, know
Your name, name, name
They want the girl, girl, girl
With game, game, game
And when they look, look, look
Your way, way, way
You're gonna make, (make), make, (make), make 'em do a double take
Know, know, know
Your name, name, name
They want the girl, girl, girl
With game, game, game
And when they look, look, look
Your way, way, way
You're gonna make, (make), make, (make), make 'em do a double take
We both faded out, and slowly looked at each other.
"Um.." she said, "That was-"
"Amazing."
We both smiled, and I couldn't help but to pull her into a hug. I thought for sure she would pull back, so understand my surprise when I felt her small arms wrap around me.
"Austin, you have a great voice."
I laughed down at her. It's ironic that she would say that, when she's the one with the voice of an angel.
"So do you Ally. Maybe next time we could sing together."
I could see a blush on her cheek, and she finally pulled away from me.
I almost missed it, she only whispered. But, I could have sworn I heard her say, "Yeah, maybe."
