A/N: I'm sorry for the unannounced hiatus, but I had a bit of a crisis with this fic. Hopefully it is back on track now and I can continue with weekly updates as before. I hope you haven't lost interest in this story yet.

Chapter Twenty-One

"How about a glass of wine?"

Tanya steps into her sister's bedroom, who still has the light on and is sitting on the master bed with the laptop in her lap.

"You read my mind," she welcomes the idea with a smile and closes the computer, then makes place for her sister next to her.

"I brought white, just in case there's an accident."

"Very wise," Miranda chuckles and takes the glasses from her, so she can pour from the chardonnay in both.

After Tanya settles on the bed she takes her glass and they clink them to each other before they start sipping their drinks.

"So how did it go with Kurt today?" she inquires. They haven't had the chance to talk since she came back from her meeting with the mysterious leather-clad woman, Kalinda.

"It was nice, he is so sweet with Kenny and my darling boy seems to enjoy his company."

Tanya hasn't seen Kurt and his son together yet, but she can only imagine how the child must feel that the man is connected to him somehow and she can't wait to be a witness of this newly found bond.

"How often will you let him see him?"

"We talked about once or twice a week, he could visit here or come with us to a walk like today."

"He will probably want to take Kenny with him at some point," she warns her sister, because she wants her to be prepared when the time comes and have her answer ready when Kurt asks.

"I know."

"Will you let him?"

"I'm not sure. I know he is his father, but he is still almost a stranger to him and I don't really like the idea of his wife meeting my son."

"What is she like anyway?"

Tanya has always thought it's too painful for Miranda to talk about Diane, who got between the happy ending she might have had with Kurt and Kenny.

"Diane? She's alright, I guess. I've only met her once and Kurt didn't talk about her much. She's a democrat, go figure."

"Yikes."

"Yep, but it didn't seem to matter to Kurt."

Tanya claims to hear a hint of sadness in Miranda's voice and it encourages her to hint what she hasn't dared yet, ever since Kurt is a part of Miranda and Kenny's life again.

"Maybe it didn't matter then, but it might at some point. You can never know."

"Why should I even care?" Miranda looks at her confused,

"Because he is the father of your son. If they happen to break up with this Diane, you could still have a chance as a family."

"He is a married man, Tanya. I kept his son from him so he could marry who he wants, why would I wish his marriage to fail?"

"I'm sorry, I got carried away," she rushes to apologize, when she hears her sister's firm denial. "Of course you wouldn't wish such a thing, you are too good for that."

"You should encourage me to meet a new man, someone who doesn't mind going out with a mother."

"I'm sure there are many, you have just been spending all your time with Kenny. You deserve a night out and soon. I'll babysit and you can go out and have some fun, meet new people," Tanya tries to divert all thoughts from her previous statement. She suspects that Miranda probably doesn't know what she really wants, but she will realize it soon enough and she will be here to support her every step of the way.

"I'll think about it."

"All right. So let me tell you about the one I met today," she shares with a telling smile, which gets Miranda seemingly excited.

"You met someone today? That's why you disappeared for so long?" she scolds her playfully.

"Yeah."

"Who is she and how did you meet?"

"She is Kalinda and she was looking for a house for her parents in the neighborhood. I showed her the Cole House, she seemed to like it."

The smile doesn't want to fade from Tanya's face as she's talking about the woman she met only a few hours ago. It's not every day that someone like her shows up in front of their house in the suburbs and she swept her off her feet right away with the way she listened to whatever she had to say.

"Right place at the right time?"

"Yeah."

"I hope you have her number."

"She has mine, I hope she will call."

"Fingers crossed."

The two sisters share a smile and one of them suddenly forgets the troubles of the other completely and starts daydreaming about the dark beauty fate sent in her way, hoping she will in fact hear from her soon.
