Chapter 26; Silvery Stream…
Lloyd's POV
Astounded and speechless, I wonder; 'Why would she do such a thing?' I think over and over. I then step closer in the shallow water and use my thumb to wipe away some of her tears. She looks back up at me and her hazel eyes look manifestly innocent. She places her hand on my chest but then she closes her eyes and removes her hand rashly as if my chest was on fire.
"Laura…" I pause and wipe away more tears with my thumb as my hand cuffs her cheek. "Why would you do such a thing?" I entreat. I stare into the bellicose quarrelling deep inside her eyes as she hesitates to tell me.
"I-I just can't… I don't know how to put into words… I guess my heart has been broken just one too many times…" her cheeks are caressed by a silvery stream as more tears flow down her face. Turning away and looking down, she runs desperately out of my grasp.
'What in Ninjago just happened?' I think to myself, watching her leave. I stand shocked… I have been aware for a while of my crush on her… the one that grew ever so stronger since I first saw her… but something she said… something in her tone… something in her eyes said that she likes me back however… She won't let herself… again…. 'What in Ninjago just happened?'
Cece's POV
"OH MY GOODNESS, WHAT IN THE WORLD DID YOU GUYS JUST MAKE?" I yell as I stare at the prodigious sand castle in front of me,
"It's the old monastery." Jay says calmly.
"AND A MOUNTAN!" I say shocked. I look up to the large mount of sand almost taller than me, and on the top, which I had to go on my tippy toes to look at, is a extraordinarily detailed and complex model of the monastery completely made of sand.
"What do you think?"
"WHAT DO I THINK? I got to get a picture of this…" I say as I dash to grab my camera. In the distance Kai and Cole are sparring for fun… with their elemental swords…
"COLE DON'T!" we all say as Cole shakes the earth and the monastery is again 'burnt down'…. and before I can take a picture too.
"COLE!" I hear Anne and Nya yell as they chase after him. We all watch as Cole screams, manly of course… not, and runs away from the rampaging Knight and Samurai.
"He is so hooped!" Jay says laughing.
"Hmmmm… first it was Kai and Jay, now Cole… I wonder who is next…" I ask myself. I turn my attention from the screaming and terrified Cole to Laura mysteriously running away from Lloyd crying. She runs towards me and I give her a comforting hug. She cries in my shoulder as I ask what was wrong.
"What's wrong Laura?" I ask.
"Um… Nothing…" she mumbles hardly audible.
"Nothing; how could it be nothing?" Lloyd then runs onto the beach and I look at him accusingly. I mouth the words 'what did you do?' or 'what happened?' and he looks at me sadly. When Laura stops crying I let go and she looks down, I look at Lloyd for an explanation.
"Did he hurt you?" I ask Laura as I punch my hand into my palm. I step towards Lloyd who looks at me in shock and horror.
"Cece stop!" I hear Laura screech and I turn my attention to her. "He didn't do anything…" Laura mumbles as I look at her perplexed. Laura then runs off as Lloyd and I follow. Laura doesn't say a word the rest of that day… only to Emma.
Emma's POV
That art show was so fun! Zane and I got a few things… I admit we got a lot… being about sundown, Zane and I stroll around the gorgeous park. Leaning against his shoulder, he puts his arm around me. Setting tediously, sun leaves the sky turning the sky is a deep orange. We both walk next to each other too busy staring at the exquisite sight before us. Eventually, we walk on the bounty and everyone is there. Zane leaves to cook dinner; everyone was waiting for him to… However I am surprised as I see Laura laying prostate on her bed. From where I am at she looks upset.
"You ok Laura?" I ask her and she looks up at me and her face looks horrid; you could tell that she has been crying harshly. "What's wrong?" Laura hesitates…
"I just… don't understand it Emma… I just don't want to fall in love again! It always ends badly for me! I am always betrayed and deceived! No one will ever be able to love me… and I will never be able to love anyone, anymore, again!" Laura cries and I stroke her hair comfortably. "I just… don't know why… or how… but I like Lloyd… I know he does too… but… I don't want my heart to break again."
"Laura… I have a feeling that the men that broke your heart were just not right for you… you have to keep searching! And Lloyd would never intentionally betray or deceive you!" I try to comfort her…
"I just don't know if I could…" Laura says. I kneel beside her and look her in the eyes.
"Laura... Even when things in the future or the past look bad… it doesn't mean you get to give up on the present." Laura looks at me profoundly… she sheds a few tears but then falls to sleep. I walk out of the room.
Anne's POV
Everyone besides Laura is seated at the table for a late dinner. Lloyd is very quiet and solemn. Sitting across the table from the earth ninja, I give Cole a smile. He returns the smile and I give a small blush. Gazing into his emerald green eyes, he looks into mine for a few moments… my eyes wonder upon his handsome features and ebony hair. We stay there like that for a while in till Zane brings out dinner which is some yummy salmon. I then focus on my meal but I cannot help but smile and look up at Cole for a while… he notices me but then I look down. Not long after dinner we all head to bed. I fall to sleep almost instantly.
Cece's POV
I feel like Garfield the cat this morning… it is a Monday anyways… I don't want to get up… my bed… is so comfy… so… sooooooooo… comfy… After the alarm of my clock, I drift back to sleep.
"WAKE UP CECE IT IS TIME FOR TRAINING!" I hear Kai yell in my ear. I notice nobody else in the room and the sun in the window.
"Go away Kai…" I turn to the other side of the bed.
"No, I was sent down here to get you and I won't leave without you."
"Good luck with that…" I say with a smirk. Kai then begins to shake me. "NO I DON'T WANT TO GET UP! My bed… is so comfy…" I say drifting off.
"GONG, GONG, GONG!" I then shoot up from the loud noise that Kai directed right at my ear.
"ARE YOU CRAZY?!" I yell.
"HOW ELSE WAS I SUPPOSED TO WAKE YOU UP?" Kai yells back… I look into his eyes that are in flames and are smoking with passion and fury… I look inside the flames and he looks back at me.
"Kai…" I say but stop. Kai looks down to the ground.
"Get dressed and on the deck for training…" He says then immediately leaves the room.
"Kai…?"
Kai's POV
Unmentionable words race through my mind as I storm out the door. I am sure Cece is awake 'now'. Yet… the way she looked at me… I felt much more furious and my heart was beating heavily. Why is she so vexing? She always is pushing my buttons without even trying! I walk out onto the deck rashly. Everyone looks over at me expecting Cece to come out with me.
"She will be out in a bit!" I snap.
"Somebody's in a bad mood…" Cole chuckled.
"Who's whipped now?" Jay realizes why I am so angry and I give him a cold hard stare.
"Nice!" Cole high fives Jay I don't say anything. After a minute or two, Cece walks onto the deck. Sensei Wu turns to her.
"Given that you are late you have to run three miles now." Sensei Wu states and Cece sighs, She also notices Laura's completely red face.
"What happened to her?" Cece asks.
"She was unable to complete the goal of two miles…" Zane states in his usual monotone like voice and Cece raises her eyebrows.
"By the end of this I bet I am going to end up like her…" Cece says and sighs. "You couldn't have let me sleep longer could you?" Cece asks and then dashes off to run her three miles.
"At least we have an even number now with the addition of Laura… oh by the way Laura, Cece made this for you." Sensei Wu hands Laura her gear.
"Wait, couldn't you just spinjitzu that on her?" I ask and everyone stares at me.
"Kai!" my sister yells in disbelief.
"What?" I ask. Sensei Wu gestures at Laura.
"Do you have any decency or common sense, Kai?" Sensei says and I then realize my mistake. I feel my face heat up.
"Uh-uh forget I asked that question…." I say and try to hide my embarrassment. (See that is what I think of every time in a story when Sensei Wu uses spinjitzu to change kunoichi's into their uniforms… THINK ABOUT IT FOR A MOMENT! Am I the only one who thinks that is a little creepy…? Hmmmmm…? e_e)
"Anyways, Given that we now have an even number we will be able to train more efficiently. Zane, you're with Emma, Cole with Anne, Laura with Lloyd and Kai, when Cece is done you get to train with her."
"What, Seriously?" says I.
"Yes Seriously!" He says and I give a sigh… at least I have some time to relax before Cece gets done…
Lloyd's POV
I can't even look Laura in the eye and neither can she… this will make training difficult. I begin to teach Laura more about different fighting styles and weapons. After a while she asks if we could spar again. We get into fighting positions… I look into her eyes as I notice the distraught inside them… I am distracted and Laura gets the first move. Right on time I block her punch and I kick her to strike back. I miss her by mere centimeters and she backs away. We continue to fight but what happened yesterday remains on my mind… eventually I catch her wrist. I bring her closer to me and I look her in the eyes and she stares back.
"Lloyd… I-I…" She pauses for a moment. "No..." She then removes her wrist from my grip and sweeps her feet undermine and I fall onto the ground… she walks away toward the rails… I get up and catch up to her. She turns to face me… "Lloyd… I just… I'm just… too scared…" she hides her face in her hands.
"Laura!" I say and grasp her attention. "I will never hurt you…" She looks up and stares into my eyes… we then step closer to each other… inches apart. She turns her head away…
"I need to think…" She says…
Zane's POV
I stare profoundly into Emma's Eyes and she looks back into mine. For a moment everything is silent. She then rushes towards me and gives me a kick. Jump out of the way with a flip, I dash towards her stealthily and give her a punch in the arm. She recoils and holds her arm. She steps back and dashes towards me. She jumps high in the air over me and before I may do anything she attempts to trip me… I step out of the way. We continue fighting and when we finish our spar it is again a tie… it has been ties for a while… We both then just freeze where we are at and stare into each others eyes… Her eyes look deeply clouded as if she is seeing into the future.
"Zane, your father is in danger…" Emma says and looks down and my eyes widen as I notice serpentine climbing on deck.
YAY! ANOTHER CHAPTER IS YET AGAIN COMPLETE! WHOOOOHOOO! (Sometimes I feel my writing style seems so off sometimes… like would Kai ever say the word vexing or entreat…?) Personally I am still working and pondering Laura's back story. Also Crimson and Fuchsia should be updated soon! Probably today!
