Chapter 30; 'Pathos'
Jay's POV
"NYA!" I screamed. Watching her jump off the bounty and onto the docks, she runs into the night carrying a large sack over her shoulder. I dash to the rails however… it is too late… her silhouette is lost inside the darkness…
Earlier
Munching on chocolate chip cookies made by Zane, I chug down milk inside the kitchen. These were like those Grandma's-homemade-first-place-cook-off-times-infinity kind off cookies! Zane should be given the Nobel Peace Prize or something!
With crumbs on my pajamas, I finish my midnight snack. The light flickers open catching me off guard. I turn around swiftly to see the intruder of the kitchen… or should I say intruders?
"What are you doing in here?" Emma asks with Zane behind her.
"And are those the cookies I just baked?" Zane adds
"Uh, yeah…. They were… they were needed for a good cause!" I say running outside the other door. I do not hear their pursuit so I slow my pace. Casually, I walk down the hallway to go back to bed. I then hear a noise coming from the door I just walked by. I pause and stare at the door. I stare at Dr. Julien's door. Nobody should be there at this time of night. Slowly, I turn the knob and investigate.
Inside the door, I see Nya putting things inside a large bag. I stare at her confused and it takes her a second to realize that I am right here. She turns to face me and her eyes glow a deep ruby red. Standing there, we both stare at each other for a second.
When she was at the Hypnobrai tombs Skales hypnotized her!
Emma couldn't be hypnotized but we totally forgot about Nya! Reluctantly, I get into a battle position and Nya sets the bag down onto the floor. She moves her hand in front of her signaling me to come at her. I am so hooped. I cannot beat her even in training anymore! I bring out my elemental sword anyways and as quick as lightning, dash over to her. With my sword in the air attempting to bring it down on her, she quickly moves her hands in front of her and blows me away, literally.
After landing on my feet a yard away from her, I pause. Suddenly she backs up and jumps way over me. She grabs the bag to make a run for it. I turn around quickly and follow my hypnotized girlfriend. With my heart pounding in my chest, I race across the bounty and onto the deck. I eventually catch up to her and grab her wrist. The speed of light is faster than the speed of sound after all. Anger and confusion I see inside her eyes as she stares at me, I stare at her shocked by something more powerful than lightning.
"Nya…"
"LET GO!" She screeches and tears her hand from mine. Holding my breath, she runs away from me. I follow as she runs off the deck… however… it is too late when she jumps off the rails.
"WHAT HAPPENED?" Emma says as both she and Zane burst through the door.
"Nya… ran off…" I say still dumbfounded and thunderstruck.
"She ran off?" Zane asks and I nod my head. My words return to me and I explain to them that Nya was hypnotized.
"No… No… this can't be happening! NOT NOW!" Emma says in shock as she races another direction. Zane immediately follows her while I stand here not knowing what to do.
Emma's POV
Racing, my heart beats inside my chest like a snake pounding his fists inside the Hypnobrai tombs cursing and blaming humans for his significant loss... Tears stream down my face and I climb onto the roof of the bounty. Sprawling onto the shingles, I manage to look up into the night sky. Blinking away the tears inside my eyes, I focus on the sky filled with my unwanted answers to everything.
There shouldn't have been moonlight, nor there should have stars outside, and Zane shouldn't have followed me onto the roof.
But alas, there were millions of stars outside, there was a full moon out, and Zane followed me onto the roof.
It was so bright outside, it was as close to daytime midnight could get. It was unreal and supernatural as I stared at it in amazement. Yet ominously, the chilly wind blew through my hair and slithered down my spine.
The front of my head rang with a painful headache, yet I still looked up. Without a sound, Zane walked across the roof and next to me. Zane forced me to look at him. I seemed to be in another place at that moment in time. Everything gave its pain to me, I felt the stars fall from the heavens, I felt my heart burst and bleed, and I heard rivers and waterfalls pour gallons and gallons of water as I looked into a blizzard overwhelmed with anguish. Gently, I felt a warm embodiment around my being as I stood there motionless. Stoic and unmoving, my eyes penetrated space. Breathless and darkly overwhelmed, it seemed nothing was left of my own soul.
Zane lets go.
His arms remove themselves from my person.
His humming warmth no more
I look up at him
Feeling nothing
Looking at a light blue blizzard
I close my eyes unable to bear anymore agonizing beams of blue.
A great gust of wind hits me when his warm hands wrap back around my waist. Suddenly, I am pressed once more against the Nindroid. A vehement blizzard meets my lips with tacit passion. Opening wide in shock, my sky is clouded with snow as I gaze upon Zane's icy blue optics. It seemed at that moment my heart began to beat again.
I felt the stars fall from the heavens
I felt my heart burst and bleed
I heard the harmony of waterfalls drenching water down from space
I returned Zane's warm embrace and his affection.
Slowly, we both separated.
I cried into his shoulder and felt my body press against his. My fingers strolled though Zane's hair as I looked up into the sky filled with a million stars.
"Emma… Please tell me what it is that troubles you… let me carry the burden on your shoulders…" Zane purrs with his satin voice. I pause with uncertainty. Thoughts race through my mind thinking of an explanation. I pick up the pieces of my lost words in the sand of perfection.
"What I carry will crush you Zane…"
"It will crush you as well Emma… I see it in your eyes… Every time I look up into the sky I see the rain clouds… I see the darkness behind the stars… I couldn't bear for something horrible to happen to you…" Zane says with clarity.
"The one thing about the future is… you don't learn anything from it. It happens anyway. You cannot stop it… What happens is for the better Zane… for the better…" I hear my serious tone crack towards the end. Crumbling, I bawl into Zane's shoulder.
"I need to know, Emma! I need to know!" Zane begs…
"I can't tell you Zane… even if I tried… My lips are sealed for eternity… That is the law of the Original Cosmic Master…" Zane pauses when I finish.
"'Original Cosmic Master'…?" he asks.
"It all makes sense now doesn't it Zane?" I lean even further into his shoulder. "I hear the stars call me to my dreams… my nightmares… everything is out of my control… the clock ticks ever… so… slowly… and it is not even fast enough." I felt my heart beating in my chest while I leaned my head against Zane's. "I understand now… Yet I never knew understanding could be so… much more painful…" Instead of the pain I bear, tears stream down my fragile and porcelain face. I move so I can look at Zane better. Inside his icy eyes they stare at me filled with melancholy. I place my hand on Zane's cheek. "Just… stay with me… for a little longer…" my satin says drifting off. My eyelids become ever so heavy. I close my eyes and give my dreams to Zane's shoulder.
There was no more moonlight, no more stars, only the black behind my eyelids and Zane.
!?~Dreamland~?!
I open my eyes looking into the pure white of a raging blizzard. Because of the blinding and vivid light, I fall down to my knees trembling. I look up and watch every snowflake fall to the ground until the blizzard stops and it slowly turns into darkness. Right in the center a candle burns and slowly lights the completely white room. I step forward. I look around me and then blink. Right when I open my eyes again two figures glow brighter in place of the candle. However one eliminates a darker light while one light flickers like fire. I look into the eyes of… Emilia and a woman much older than me, yet she still looks as young me. Her black hair flows down to her ankles while her eyes penetrate my soul with a vivid blue. They look like they are glowing and look like my own eyes (and Emilia's) at the same time. However one eye illuminates a white light while the other a blackberry, a mix of purple and black. Her skin is a white as snow with a deathly pale completion. However she stands regally. She almost looks like me but more… mature and pious.
In the beginning god created the First Spinjitzu Master, the Overlord and I…
The first spinjitzu master created Ninjago with his golden weapons
The overlord created the great devourer who created the Serpentine
I ruled the stars… ran with the wind… howled inside the moon…smiled with the sun... and grew with the plants…
With the land broken in two I was forced to stay in the good side of Ninjago…
Never to see the Overlord again *her darker eye flickers at this part*
I told the First Spinjitzu Master I cannot be contained.
I then flew into the heavens and joined the stars for all eternity.
*I stare at the woman-the Original Cosmic Master-in aw. My attention is then brought to the ghostly figure of Emilia. She then begins to speak.*
I was not completely created by the Overlord… or the Devourer
I was graced by the Original Cosmic Master
It was my destiny to perish by the hands of the war of the Spinjitzu Master and Overlord
*Emilia begins to gently cry and begins to yell at the woman beside her*
WHY MUST YOU HAVE CURSED ME!
WHY COULD I NOT FIND LOVE?
Why must you have taken it away from me?
(Emilia turns to me)
This is what I shall give you before the darkness becomes your murderer…
And when time repeats it's self
Remember the past
Remember what has been said…
(I begin to yell at both of them)
WHAT SOLUTIONS HAVE YOU TOO GIVEN ME?
HOW WILL KNOWING THE FUTURE SAVE THE PAST?
OR THE PRESENT!
*Emilia looks at me*
Please Emma… when you are lost in the labyrinth of the soul… follow the—
*I am shocked when the Original Cosmic Master hits Emilia and knocks her unconscious. She looks at me.*
You must find the correct path yourself, to achieve true greatness…
*I feel thoughts and visions swarm my mind and all I can do is yell and ask questions in hope that she will answer them.*
WHY AM I THIS WAY?
I NEVER PICKED THIS DESTINY
WHY IS IT THAT YOU WILL NOT TOLERATE LOVE?
AND BURN IT TO ASHES?!
WHY MUST YOU DESTROY IT?
(The Original Cosmic Master speaks with a bold and velvet tone.)

Squinting from the bright light, I wake up on the roof of the bounty inside Zane's arms. Everything comes back to me from the night before to my nightmare. Blushing, I watch Zane wake up. He opens his eyes and smiles however I quickly sit up. Standing up I look up at the early sky. Aching, my back hurts. That's what you get for sleeping on a roof all night. I look on the deck to see Anne and Cece staring at me.
I am so hooped.
"HAVING FUN UP THERE?" Cece yells while all five liters of blood inside my person rush into my face.
"CECE!" the knight of the moon smacks Cece on the head thankfully. I look awkwardly to Zane. He looks at me confused.
"What does she mean by 'fun'?" Our 'innocent' little Nindroid asks in a whisper so Cece can't hear it. I face-palm and shake my head. Wow, Zane…
This chapter was so intense! THOU DESTINY IS NEAR! (Sorry for being a little later than usual. I was delayed.) Btw "Pathos" is the Greek origin of the word passion but means suffering, disease, feeling, and passion. I thought it fit and found it interesting… one more thing I have learned in choir to have a large impact on this story… XD Also…. This sort of is my little AU version of Ninjago…. I think it all make sense… in my mind… I even drew something really epic for… some future events… this was an interesting chapter! Thank you all for your reviews!
