Chapter 41;Smoke in Her Eyes
NONE POV
Scrambling on the ground, Emma held Zane's head in her lap.
Emma's blue eyes shined down on Zane's bruised face. Some of his gravity-defying blonde hair stuck to his forehead soaked in sweat and artificial blood.
Sensing the ghostly eyes behind her back, Emma turned around quickly. She shot her arm out and created a force field that looked like northern lights.
Turning her head back, Emma saw a spark or two shoot from Zane's face. Zane cringed in pain.
Inside a jungle of tangled black hair, Zane opened his eyes to see two bright blue eyes. Relieved, Emma almost smiled. Groggy, Zane's vision was blurry but he could still see the love return in Emma's eyes.
Above the two, the Serpentine kept dog-piling on the shield. Seeing one or two cracks from inside, Emma focused her energy on the shield.
What is the point of fighting back, Emma?
It is your destiny
Why use up your strength?
It is all meaningless.
With his head too hurt to get up, Zane looked up at Emma. Her vivid blue eyes slammed shut.
"This is not the time for this, Cosmic Master!" Emma said. Zane watched as more cracks showed up and the shield kept caving in.
Breaking like a dam, Zane could not compute the amount of serpentine raining down on the Seer and the ninja of ice.
Gasping, Emma fell prostrate on top of Zane. Emma tried the best she could to protect her injured robot. The Serpentine scratched and kicked but Emma kept looking down into Zane's eyes.
Zane dodged a tear that was headed into his eye. Suddenly, Emma's vision went blurry. The last thing she saw was Zane's icy irises.
The next time Emma would open her eyes, she would not like what she would be seeing
It was like watching an empire crumble, watching a hero fall to his knees; it was like watching everything you loved being burned into ashes. Torturing her inside, Emma felt the stinging pain of smoke in her eyes.
"YOU GUYS GOING TO COME OUT OR NOT?"
"OH SHOOT! THAT'S THE SIGNAL GUYS!" Anne hollered and jumped up from a bush she was hiding behind. The rest of the ninja and Cosmic legion jumped up behind her. Anne then pulled out her katana.
'How, in Ninjago, did we all get this far? This plan was suicide from the start!' Anne wondered.
Even though she was doubtful, Anne still had faith in her comrade. Nonetheless, Anne did not understand what exactly Emma saw or even who the Original Cosmic Master is. That is one thing that is admired about Anne. Even if she is the not the most perfect person; a lonely girl with an amiable mask; a girl that is often overlooked as being special, Anne has an incredible amount of faith… but with faith in her heart there is also pugnacious doubt about to rage war. Even with therapeutic grey eyes, Anne has a lot of problems with herself.
Shot right out of a cannon, Anne bolted inside the tumult. Threatened by the serpentine ready to kill her friends, Anne slashed the first Snake she saw in the chest. With drizzling blood on the katana, the gloomy light of the evening sun glimmered in the blood on the blade.
Disgusted, Anne turned away. Anne horribly hated the sling of a sword and cutting of a wound. The splash of human and inhuman blood made her feel sick. Anne did not feel noble at all. She felt more like a weak and ugly little princess waiting to be rescued. The thought of that enraged her.
Another snake slammed a small axe at her chest. Stumbling back, Anne felt horrible pain in her torso.
Luckily, the armor she is wearing is impenetrable to swords. But the blunt force of the axe sure hurt! That will probably leave a nasty bruise. Gracefully, Anne swung the sword at the snake and cut through a lot of scales.
Sighing, Anne rushed up to another.
Anne looked towards Emma's direction and took a mere glimpse of the battle unfolding like a rose bud. 'Go, Jay! Go!'
Anne looked around her and found herself surrounded by a mixture of serpentine.
Caught off guard, a midget snake splashed sand inside Anne's eyes.
Anne was discombobulated and could not defend herself against a fist right to her face. Rubbing her eyes, Anne gripped her katana and blocked a sword from another snake.
Anne disarmed the snake and slit the beast's throat.
Quickly, Anne put away her katana and slammed her hands together. A grey aura blew through her dirty platinum white hair. In a small radius, the gravity became weaker and weaker until the snakes were a few feet off the ground.
Crashing down, Anne slammed her fists to the ground and the snakes were crushed by the prodigious force. Anne stood up and wiped her hands.
Taking back her katana, Anne dashed to another Snake and dodged a mace.
For a moment in time, Anne could not feel the ground underneath her toes. Quickly, Anne looked down and saw a huge hole.
Anne lost her footing and barely grabbed on the edge of the ground. Not falling into the hole, the snakes beneath her feet tugged on her shoes.
Anne dug her heel into one of their faces and used all the strength she had to get back up.
Managing to get on her knees, Anne saw Cole beating up snakes. However snake after snake started to jump on him and disable his movements.
Trying to get up, she found she could not. Suddenly, she felt someone grasp her wrist with a python like grip. Anne used her free hand to punch the snake in the face.
Down on one knee, Anne felt something else grab her waist. She reached in her scabbard for her katana, but felt nothing in there. Struggling, Anne tried to elbow the snake but another Constrictai held her down.
So there Anne was, indefensibly held against her will by two burly munchkins.
Anne could not break free from the two incredibly brawny Constrictai holding her. Looking to her right, she saw Skalidor and about six others reptiles holding down Cole. From where she was at, it looked like a large ant-hill of snakes.
At least Jay got the staff… he better be getting that antidote to Nya.
Anne tried to use her powers but she was too drained. Thinking of her options, Anne relaxed her whole body. Slumping on the ground, Anne the shot up and punched the snake to her left. Landing on the ground, Anne swept her foot under the other snake. Getting back up, Anne looked around for her katana.
Looking around, Anne found her katana. The katana was in two scaly hands. The Hypnobrai was showing off to his buddy and mocking Anne. Anne shook her head and rolled her eyes. Anne confronted the snake; the snake was shorter so Anne loomed over him. The snake dropped the katana. Bending down, Anne grabbed it and turned her head around. Hearing a snake behind her, she twisted around and slashed the snake in the chest. Anne's eyes avoided looking at the bloody mess. Suddenly, she remembered Cole.
Anne's eyes darted around her surroundings. It did not take long to notice the large pile of snakes. Anne scampered to the pile and started to pry off the snakes in the pile. Taking notice of this, the snakes started to attack Anne. Like an explorer cutting through vines, Anne started to clear through the pile. Anne eventually cleared through enough serpents to find Cole unconscious. Anne tried to pick him up but he was too heavy. Anne looked around her and found Cece and Kai back to back surrounded by a ton of snakes.
"CECE!" the knight pleaded, "KAI! I NEED HELP! COLE IS UNCONSCIOUS AND I CANNOT LIFT HIM UP!" Cece looked towards Anne but was hit by a snake really hard. Anne cringed as Cece toppled to the ground. "Shoot…" Anne dragged Cole from the pile while Kai grabbed Cece. Kai cleared a path and met up with Anne.
'Maybe I can make him lighter…' Anne thought and slapped her hands together. Still drained, Anne only got Cole a little lighter. But it was easier to drag him.
Kai brought Cece over to Anne. 'Cece is a little heavier than I thought…' Kai managed to get Anne. Kai set Cece on the ground.
"Sorry Cece." Anne said and sighed.
"Cece needs to work on keeping her guard up."
"Yeah, I don't see any major injures but I don't know about Emma or Zane… Wait, where is Lloyd?"
Kai looked around him and saw a golden light in the distance.
Kai pointed towards it, "Lloyd is over there. Without Cece we won't be able to heal anybody. But she will wake up eventually." Anne heard a bit of worry in Kai's voice. Anne expected him to be a little angrier but he seemed a little depressed.
"Kai?" the knight asked.
"What?"
"Is there something wrong?" Anne was curious and concerned at the same time. Kai turned to look into the therapeutic grey eyes Anne is known for.
"Uh… Nothing" Anne could tell he was lying but she left it at that. Anne stood up.
Taking her katana out of her scaffold, Anne started to defend against the snakes that were coming closer. Kai joined her. Anne was not the best swordsman but Kai was confident in his pupil. Kai taught Anne everything she knew about sword fighting. Anne was a pretty cool person but she was Cece's henchman. Kai's blade flickered with fire dancing on the sword.
"NINJA-GO!" Kai yelled as he formed the fiery tornado. Knocking out around seven or so snakes, Kai started to lose count. Anne dug her katana through blue scales, black scales, green scales, and red scales.
Suddenly, Anne was caught inside black coils. Skalidor squeezed and she lost her grip on the katana. Skalidor took it out of her hands and held it against her neck. Noticing this, Kai dispersed his spinjitzu. Fire burned inside his eyes and he held his sword. Too distracted, Kai didn't notice in time two Crimson eyes peering over his shoulder. Anne started to see spots in her vision but she only had a second to warn Kai before it was too late.
With her vision getting blurry, Anne yelled hoarsely; "BEHIND YOU!" the knight could do nothing when Kai was knocked out by Skales. That was the last thing she could remember before she lost consciousness.
Before the battle, Lloyd had changed into his golden uniform. He was reluctant to leave Laura behind in the bounty with only his parents and uncle to guard. What if something happened? What if Nya escaped? Lloyd wanted to stay behind but everyone insisted that they needed him.
Lloyd suddenly realized the irony.
Lloyd preformed his golden spinjitzu and shot golden beams at his foes. It was not that hard. At least he can fight now, unlike before the final battle. He noticed suddenly how almost no Serpentine was attacking him. Then he looked at the bounty.
Lloyd said; "no!" before he rushed to the bounty that had caught on fire and was being attacked by the serpentine. Lloyd ran as fast as his feet could go.
Shocked, Lloyd abruptly stopped. He watched as Laura was the first to be dragged out of the bounty. Jay and Nya followed, luckily her amber eyes no longer glowed a bloody crimson. Last but not least, Lloyd's parents came out pretty bruised with Sensei Wu being dragged and unconscious.
Laura looked to see Lloyd on the sand with the waves soaking his feet. His golden suit reflected the last light of the day there was left.
"Lloyd…" Laura said as Lloyd clutched his fists together.
"DON'T YOU TOUCH, HER!" He yelled while forming a green ball of energy in his hands. Then Acidicus, the one holding Laura, held a knife up to her neck. Discussed, Lloyd noticed that Acidicus did not even bother to clean off Laura's blood from the knife.
Lloyd could do nothing beside dispel the orb he created and witness Acidicus hold the very knife that stabbed Laura against her neck.
I thought to myself, how can the serpentine defeat Lloyd? And then I was like; 'YEAH! XD' Sorry, that's all I got for Lloyd. Anne insisted for her to have more screen time… Well ninjakittygo33x (a guest) I have written forty chapters all right! *shakes fist* it is so awesome!
