Chapter 42; Saudade
NONE POV
Running on adrenaline, Jay made it to the bounty with a speed that probably would have easily won a gold metal in the Olympics. The funny thought occurred to him while he pictured himself blowing past all the worlds' fastest runners at the speed of light.
Suddenly, he remembered Nya. Like a battering ram, Jay shot through the closest entrance to the brig. He saw a yellow blur that was spinning around after he pasted by. Rushing down stairs, he tripped but he landed on the bottom of the steps on his feet.
His reddish brown hair glowed as it whipped around with the rest of his head. The first thing he saw was two crimson pools of blood.
Taking a deep breath, Jay threw the staff at Misako.
Still getting over her shock, it took a moment for Misako to remember what she needed to do.
He stumbled to a nearby bench and collapsed. Jay felt like his numb limbs were like boulders. Jay could not move until Misako came back with the anti-venom.
Jumping out of his seat the moment she reentered the room, Jay watched as Misako got closer to the cage. Nya's arms slashed viciously through the bars. Afraid it would spill; Misako looked at Jay, Sensei Wu, and her husband.
"Hold her down." Misako said.
Sensei Wu locked the door. Walking towards the cage, both Jay and Lord Garmadon held down Nya's arms. Nya battered and struggled like a pin-pong ball in a very intense game of table tennis.
Nya's face was shoved through the bars by Sensei Wu.
A lot of effort later, Misako with the help of brutal force managed to shove that anti-venom down the samurai's throat.
Watching in anticipation, Jay waited to see the smile that turns his legs to jelly.
When all the anti-venom was drunk, the grip on Nya loosened. Nya still fought against the bars, but after awhile she collapsed in exhaustion. Behind the bars, Nya lied on the ground passed out.
Perplexed, Jay turned to the three elders in the room expecting some explanation.
While Jay was preoccupied with perplexity, Nya's eyes snapped open. Jay noticed the widened eyes of Misako, Garmadon and Wu and turned to see for himself.
That dumbstruck face of his was priceless. No one thought twice about unlocking the cage. As if he was running through a meadow of fluffy flowers, Jay scooped Nya into his arms while her amber eyes widened in shock.
Jay took in her smell, the feel of her soft hair, and everything else
Groggy, Nya hardly remembered what happened. Jay loosed his grip to look at Nya's bittersweet face. With tears in his eyes, Jay kissed Nya right on the lips.
After pulling back, Nya looked at Jay confused.
"What happened?"
Jay smiled with relief and looked into Nya's eyes, "Not much."
The three elders stood there (only a little awkwardly) smiling. Sensei gestured for them to leave so the couple could have a proper reunion.
CRASH! Coming from up above, a deafening sound rang down into the brig.
They were like dogs with their ears perking up in attention.
An incredible terrifying banging was heard barreling down the stairs and on the door.
The fact that the door was locked did not do anything.
The adults were the first to spring into action. Jay helped Nya up.
Sensei Wu, lord Garmadon, and Misako formed their tornados.
Dispelling his spinjitzu, Sensei Wu panted. There was no lack of snakes flowing into the room. Supporting himself with his staff, he rested for a second. Suddenly, thrusting the staff forward, he nailed a snake in the gut. Twisting around, he wacked another snake.
Slithering down the stairs with a mad scientist like grin, Acidicus forced a young girl down with him.
Sensei Wu did not notice him and kept attacking the snakes. An extra buff Constrictai grabbed hold of the old man. Throwing him into the wall with no effort, the snake cracked his knuckles afterwards and turned to the general for further instructions.
Sliding down the wall, Sensei Wu crashed onto the floor unconscious.
Appalled, everyone in the room looked at the Venomari general and had no choice but to surrender.
Defeated, the minions took hold of the elders and lovebirds.
Scared, Laura could not escape from the bloody dagger against her neck.
The snakes dragged everyone up to the deck. Crying slightly, Laura was the first to meet the cold evening air.
Shocked, Laura saw the glimmer of gold on the beach, "Lloyd…"
"DON'T YOU TOUCH, HER!"
Laura was a hostage.
Lloyd could not do anything about it.
Laura was out of his grasp.
"SEIZE THE GOLDEN NINJA!" Acidicus ordered.
And they did.
Opening her green eyes, Cece woke up to being dragged.
Cece looked up and saw the sun was no more. 'What a long day…' She thought to herself sighing.
Looking left and right, Cece saw two Constrictai holding her arms and dragging her to some place she has not figured out yet. Cece continued to look around at her surroundings. Eventually, she found Kai and Jay.
Recalling his capture, Jay was still hopeful. He was happy to have been reunited with Nya. Jay never would have thought her almost amber eyes could have been even more fantastic.
Jay noticed Cece staring at him and Kai who was still unconscious. Wiggling around like a worm, Jay could not move his arms or legs and he looked down to see he was tied up.
Looking around for everyone else, it was difficult because it was pretty dark. The moon and stars shined more ominously than usual. September first felt like it would go on forever.
Eventually, he found a sulking glint of gold.
Lloyd looked down in shame and whispered to himself, "I-I couldn't do anything!"
Jay's enlarged pupil, due to the light, searched in the darkness. Cece also looked too.
In front of Cece, Jay and Kai were being dragged by a few snakes. To her right was Nya. In the rear, there was Sensei, Garmadon and Misako. Leading the pack was Lloyd with Laura beside him. Anne was also unconscious to Kai's left. To Cece's left was Cole being dragged by three Constrictai and heavily guarded.
'Jay… Kai… Nya… Sensei Wu… Lord Garmadon… Misako… Lloyd… Laura… Anne… and Cole…' Cece counted,
"Where are Zane and Emma?" Cece accidently said out loud. Nya took notice of this and looked around too. Jay turned around but was hit in the head by the snake dragging him.
Panicking now, Cece searched for the couple but found no prevail.
Emma woke up in Zane's arms. Lying on the ground, Emma looked at Zane and still saw the horrid gash on the top of his head. His eyes were closed and he looked like he was in pain or having a nightmare. Looking around her, Emma noticed Serpentine guarding the cage around them. Scared, Emma shook Zane to wake him up.
"You're awake!" said a child's voice. A smile emerged from the darkness and Emma jumped up away from the robot slowly waking up.
"Camille?!" the seer asked. The light blonde-haired girl crept out of the shadows and pounced onto Emma. Emma hugged her back wearing a heartfelt smile.
"I was so scared! And when I saw both of you unconscious I was totally freaked out! Like, what if they hit you really hard in the head or something? WHAT IF YOU GOT AMNESIA? THEN I WOULD BE DOOMED! What happened? Is my dad ok? Is that girl ok? S-she was…. s-stabbed by that snake… is she…?"
Emma calmed Camille down by looking into her eyes and motherly putting her hand on her cheek.
"Remember those letters? Well, as the Seer of Stars it is unlikely that I would get amnesia. Your dad is fine and Laura, the girl that was stabbed, is fine too. How did you get into this mess?"
"I was at the park with friends talking about my dad and suddenly from behind me, because I was leaning against a tree, someone grabbed me and the next thing I knew I was in somewhere really cold with creepy snake people all around!"
Camille's powder blue eyes quivered in fear but then she looked at Zane, "Is that your boyfriend?" She asked totally going off topic.
Blushing a little bit, Emma replied, "Yeah…"
Placing her hand on her chin and nodding her head a bit, Camille's eyes looked over Zane. Zane did not blush but he looked a little embarrassed. However he then noticed the other person in the cage.
Standing passively, the man looked into space.
Gravely, Zane stood up to see his father. Behind Dr. Julien, Zane stared at the lab coat.
Noticing someone behind him, Dr. J turned around. Stoic, the red swirling eyes did not react or cared that his son, the robot he created who he had not seen for so long, was standing behind him.
Zane looked to the ground and sighed. His creator simply turned back around.
Staring at Zane, Emma and her cousin stood still. Empathetic, Emma's stealthy tread did not make a sound as she went to comfort Zane. Placing her hand between his shoulder and neck, Zane turned to look at her. Emma and Zane's downcast eyes almost matched.
Staring at the ground, Emma said; "If Jay was successful getting Nya the anti-venom, then I am sure Misako would have kept some of the anti-venom for your father, Zane." Emma's eyes looked up into his ruefully.
Emma felt Zane's hands sweetly caress her hips but Zane's deep and zealous saudade felt like frostbite. Both of Emma's hands felt the muscles in his neck, fascinated by how human Zane was.
Emma wanted more. She wanted more of Zane. She wanted more love and happiness in her life. She wanted more from her destiny.
Emma wanted to lean in and get closer but the large rackety cage door creaked as it opened.
Everyone in the cage turned to look at the Serpentine coming inside. One of the snakes entering yanked on Emma's arm and she hesitantly followed.
Solemnly, she walked out of the cage. With all the strength she had, she stared straight into the eyes of the Cosmic Legion with the starlight reflecting on her moist cheeks.
Trying to get to Emma, Zane was abusively pulled out of the cage.
Looking into Emma's eyes, Cece's hope fell. Realization struck her chest and battered and bruised her spirit. She felt pain knowing the exact amount of pain Emma has endured when you could not see the screams in her eyes.
The ominous glow shining inside Emma's strong countenance showed her fear.
Anne was conscious and she felt like her heart was breaking and turning into sand. It seems like she could relate to all of the Cosmic Legion members. It was like a call Emma was giving out to her sisters. The ninja were perplexed but they somehow sensed the pain.
Continuing to be dragged, Emma was forced on her knees in a line with everyone else.
Skales slithered out of the helicopter with a despicable smile on his face.
Disgusted, Zane glared shurikens at the snake king. Skales slithered around each and every ninja and Cosmic Legion member. When he got to Zane he stopped.
Zane's inhuman serenity was annihilated. Insanely, it was like holding back a police dog.
His brothers who had known him for so long could not believe it.
Suddenly, with a simple flick of his tail, Skales knocked the ninja of ice and snow to the ground. His fangs were displayed by his inhumane smile that turned to look at his army.
"NOW THE HUMAN RACE SHALL LEARN OF THE PUNISHMENT FOR THE GENOCIDE OF OUR PEOPLE!" Skales yelled. The chaotic screams of the Serpentine busted the heroes' eardrums.
Demonstrating his power to both his followers and enemies, Skales continued to ostentatiously shame his defeated foes. Kai tried to burn through the ropes but the more he struggled, the weaker he felt.
Skales slithered past the fiery ninja and feasted his eyes on the two murders of the only love that kept him sane.
The intense fear could not have been taken away by wild horses. Sensei Wu's face was pale and the look on Skales' visage could have given the elder a heart attack. Filled with anger and prideful revenge, Skales only loomed over Sensei Wu and Lord Garmadon with a feeling that could only be described as; 'I won'.
Skales pasted by the Cosmic Legion members and looked into the blue eyes of his diseased lover filled with a different life of emotions. Skales only need to glance at her bonds to tell them what he wanted.
"Bow." The snake king hissed while the snakes holding her pushed her into a submissive position. Nervously, a snake brought the snake king his staff.
"You have not won." Emma said while taste of blood from her bitten lip filled her mouth.
Enraged, Skales hit Emma in the face with his tail.
Lying on her side, Emma looked up into the crimson pools of frozen blood-lakes, "The tragedy of this day has not yet happened."
"No! This is a victory for the serpentine!" Skales was too blinded by power and pride to truly remember how much he believed in Emma's powers.
With strength she had lost long ago, Emma stood up. Shaking, Emma held herself together. Losing some balance, in a fierce sudden last resort, Emma shot her hands together. The painful slap burned her hands but her eyes beamed a pure white like two bright stars.
Soon after, the rest of the Cosmic Legion followed.
They lighted the night with a final attempt to free themselves of the garden snake.
A reverberating gun fire was suddenly heard disrupting the chaos.
The ninja looked at Skales who held a large and overly complicated gun in his hand. The smoke came out like a snake being charmed by a flute. A shriek was heard and then a large thump.
Still in mid air, the Cosmic Legion gaped at their fallen comrade.
"EMMA!" In a monotone, Zane screeched with error-full emotion.
Then, there was an eerie silence framed by scream of pain after scream of pain.
No one knew what was happening.
Zane tugged at the snakes holding him and he eventually broke free.
Skales watched as the white ninja ran to Emma.
Skales smiled.
Emma felt a horrid pain in her back. It stung.
That did not compare to the pain enveloping her whole body.
Her skin felt dry and she wanted to scratch it all off. Her whole mouth was numb and her nails felt they were being ripped off. Slowly, she started to lose her self control. Darkness unlike anything she has ever seen started to creep into her sight and thoughts.
Aghast, Zane froze.
Comprehending not the purple scales forming on her body and the claws seeping out of her finger tips, Zane turned to Skales.
"W-what d-did y-you d-do t-to h-her…?" Laura asked seeing what Zane was seeing. Laura turned to look at Skales who started laughing uncontrollably.
"MY PLAN IS GOING PERFECTLY! SOON YOUR FRIEND WILL BE UNDER MY CONTROL THANKS TO THE SCIENTIST ZANE CALLS HIS FATHER!" Skales wiped tears from his eyes.
Meanwhile, Emma was holding her face in her hands and wiggling on the ground like a fish out of water. Slowly, her movements diminished but not entirely. Her transformation was almost complete when she was only shaking.
Suddenly, Skales was somber. He stared at Emma in disbelief. 'Emilia…' he thought.
Not believing any of this, Zane leaned in closer to make sure he was not imagining this. The moment he touched her shoulder, Emma stopped shaking.
But it was not Emma anymore. Not even Emilia.
A flash of black was the first thing Zane saw.
Sparks and artificial blood was everywhere. Feeling torturous pain, Emma's claws dug into Zane's robotic flesh and into the wires and metal in his chest. Zane stood in shock looking into eyes that where no longer blue.
He could see no more light. Her sky blue eyes had become two bottomless black holes.
Everyone gasped. The rest of ninja came running to their brother. The shock was so powerful; Dr. Julien could be heard in the distance banging on the bars.
Zane's eyes were lifeless but he was not dead. His system shut down due to an overload of information.
Emma looked at her hands…
Emma smiled.
Too terrified to do anything, the Cosmic Legion and Ninja only watched as Emma dragged Skales into the helicopter…
…And left.
Yes, that's how it ends. THIS WAS THE LAST CHAPTER OF CAPTIVATING CONTRASTS! IT IS DONE! I FINISHED WITH THIS STORY! Don't worry! I plan on making a sequel! Caress and Corrupt! Isn't it awesome? I regret to say that it is going to be a LONG time before I will be able post the new story. I want to revise some of my chapters and I need to pre write chapters. I have not even started on Caress and Corrupt. I will post the rewritten chapters on Sundays. If you wish I can post small one-shots if I have an idea. I am sad because I want Emma and Zane to do more cute couple stuff. If you have an Idea please PM me I will not do requests sent from reviews.
Furthermore, this story is completed, I will rewrite chapters of Captivating Contrasts before I start Caress and Corrupt, I want prewritten chapters for Caress and Corrupt, and I will post things on Sundays still. Therefore it will be a large delay before I can start posting Caress and Corrupt.
THIS STORY IS FINISHED! HOWEVER I HAVE A SEQUEL COMING!
