Again, another chapter edited for similar reasons. I have come back to this fic and I find some of the sections in it to not make much sense.
Yet again...I don't own VK, just Koneko and the story.
"So I suspect things went well last night, little Koneko-chan?"
Said kitten stood boredly at the Headmaster's desk, watching him with an irritated expression.
"I thought I told you to drop the 'chan' already..."She mumbled, folding her arms. "Yeah, I guess things weren't as bad as I thought. Except for the knife..." Her mind raced back to that incident. Though she'd never admit it out loud, her heart was in her throat at that moment. "But I still don't see why I'm the one who has to live with them. Yuuki would be a better candidate than I would." Her shaded glare hit Kaien Cross like a speeding train, and she could see him shudder only slightly. "After all, she's the only one who really gets along with them."
Kaien could only avert his gaze from her threatening gaze and clear his throat. "Well, as you know, Yuuki is still in education. She needs all her concentration to be on her studies and keeping the Night Class' true nature a secret. The same goes for Zero, and as much as I love him like a son, I couldn't trust him staying with them."
Koneko soon lost interest in the rest of Headmaster's speech. She knew she wouldn't get her way no matter what she said. She could mention the knife again and that still wouldn't have made a difference. Though he did make some good points; such as her being out of compulsory education. And what vampire hunter wouldn't want to know the ins and outs of vampires in their day to day lives?
A loud sigh made Kaien look up and see that Koneko looked almost defeated. Truth be told, she was still wary of staying in the same dorm as vampires. She already had two attempts on her life; the knife and the constant shower of death threats due to the fact she almost lunged at Kaname for his constant air of arrogance. He was really beginning to get on her nerves with his pompous attitude.
But now she was at war with herself. She didn't want to move in with a den of wolves, whether she wanted to know their secrets or not. She basically realised the Headmaster was taking a lamb to slaughter. But the more she thought about it, the more she wanted to see the reactions of those creatures when she arrived at the door. In the middle of the day. Waking them up. Getting them angry... yeah...
"Alright... but I don't expect a warm welcome." She sighed in defeat, hand on her hip. If her father had seen her giving into someone so easily, he'd have a heart attack.
"Splendid!" His aloof façade had soon faded, and a more serious albeit gentle tone replaced it. "I'll let you settle in there for a week. Then you can make a decision as to whether you'll reside there permanently. Is that doable?" He asked her, to which she gave a satisfied nod. "Good. Now off you go!" His hyper, childlike nature reappeared as he shooed her away. "That day class will be coming out of their lessons now. It's going to be hectic today. What, with it being Valentine's Day and all. Did you know I got coupons for Yuuki's shoulder massages?" He swooned gleefully.
"Yes, she told me after lunch had finished." Koneko huffed, wanting nothing more than to leave now. She bowed her head and waved a goodbye before she turned and left.
Kaien may have been seeing things, but he could have sworn he saw a hint of a smirk on Koneko's face before she left.
'So, Valentine's Day, huh?', she thought, that glimpsed smirk growing. 'This'll be fun...'

Yuuki looked back and forth between the hoard of Day class uniforms, hoping to spot two with the Disciplinary sashes on their left arm. Luckily, she found one of them lurking from behind the trees, hand resting against his hand.
"You took your time, Zero. Have you seen Koneko-chan?" She asked, punching his arm in an attempt to scold him.
Rubbing his arm, he could only shrug his shoulders. "Last I heard she was with the Headmaster. Something about her being transferred to the Moon Dorms for some reason." He muttered, making his way through the masses of females standing by the labelled gates. Honestly, after hearing (or more commonly known as eavesdropping) the conversation, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of sympathy for her. It was bad enough having to share a school with them, but a dorm? If it were him, there would have been much bloodshed.
"Koneko-chan!" Yuuki's screech broke all thoughts from Zero, and he glanced up to see the kitten taking her precious time to meet up with her fellow Disciplinary members. "Care to give us a hand?" The brunette asked loudly over the chants and squeals of the other girls.
A small yawn escaped her lips, hand waving as if swatting a fly. "Aye, aye..." She grumbled. She was in such a happy mood until she realised what today entailed. It meant the girls would be twice as rowdy. Though she hadn't really helped in any way the day before, she had felt the vibe of raging hormones coming from the crowd as the Night Class passed by without a second glance. Merely observing yesterday was enough to see that this would be troublesome. "Alright girls, if you could all shut up for a while and get to your assigned posts, you'll be able to see your beloved Night Class that much quicker." She yelled to the squabbling girls. Or at least...she attempted to.
"Does no one have ears in this place?" She asked, throwing her hands in the air in aggravation.
"Get used to it, Koneko..." Zero's voice grumbled behind her, almost making the poor girl jump out of her skin. "They never listen."
At this, Koneko sighed softly, hand gripped tightly onto Twilight. She moved herself towards the Moon Dorm gate, pushing one side open. All she could hear after that was massive uproar from the Day Class, to which Yuuki responded with a shove towards the charging group.
"Koneko-chan, what are you doing?" She yelled, finding it hard to keep said girls in line.
"I'm now escort for our beloved Night Class. I'll be back with our VIP's shortly." She saluted and turned on her heels, the blonde tresses twirling around her like a golden sash. A small scornful smile graced her face when she heard commotion coming from behind her.
"Why does she get to escort the Night Class?"
"That's so unfair! Who does she think she is!?"
"Just who is she anyway...?"
So the Day Class didn't recognise her; that was a good thing. That meant no one cared to notice her the night before. That would make things so much more easier when she had to do this routinely.
The journey towards the dorm wasn't all that long, but it was hard for Koneko to stay calm and collected. She may have been a part of a strong and well known clan of hunters, but that didn't mean she felt no fear. Standing at the door of the Lion's den, she took a deep breath, forcing on the mask she always wore in front of the vampires. The smug smirk invaded her lips as she gripped the handle of the door with a trembling hand.

"I wonder who will get the most chocolates today." Aidou mumbled, casually sipping on his dissolved blood tablet. He honestly hope he would be the one to gain the most. He was a competitive man when you look at it bluntly.
"I'm sure we'll all get a fair amount anyway. We don't need to bother with who gets the most." Ichijou grinned towards the other blond in the entrance hall, shrugging his shoulders as he looked out for the Dorm President. Truth be told, Kaname was taking his time today. Usually they would be leaving by now, but instead the aristocrats were still lounging about awaiting their precious Lord to grace them with his presence.
"Just where is Lord Kaname? He's never this late... You don't suppose he's sick, do you?"
"Don't be stupid, Aidou!" Ruka yelled rather abruptly, startling some of the others in the room. "Purebloods are unable to get sick. How dumb can you be?"
The sound of the door creaking open made all heads present turn to see the kitten herself standing by the door, innocence plaguing her face, but that smirk still remained on her lips. Arrogance mixed with innocence pulled off a wonderful combination.
"Oh great..." Hanabusa mumbled, rather agitated with her being here. "What do you want, Hunter? Here to pick another fight with us?"
The rest of the vampires tensed at the Hunter invading their territory. It was completely normal for them to feel this way. Like a predator invading the habitat of its prey. The only question was, who was the prey and who was predator?
"Don't be silly, Aidou-san." Koneko sighed, tilting her head to the side and pointing towards her Disciplinary sash. "As long as I am a part of this school, I will not be killing any of you present in this dorm."
"Well said, Kitten." An all too familiar voice called out from the top of the stairs, and all attention was pulled away from Koneko to the Pureblood standing present. With the air and grace of an angel, he descended the stairs, eyes remaining fixed on Koneko's, and even she was unable to avert her gaze from his, as if she were frozen on the spot. This was the power of the Purebloods.
"Forgive me for my tardiness..." He began, breaking his staring contest with Koneko before addressing the rest of the vampires present. "I was choosing out a reasonable room for Miss Yoru." He smiled softly, ignoring the shocked faces and loud protests.
"Wait, wait, wait! She's staying in our dorm?" Ruka scoffed animatedly, and for once, Hanabusa agreed with a nod of the head.
"It has been requested by the Headmaster, and I will accept and honour his wishes. As Koneko had already said quite beautifully, she will not be harming any of us, merely keeping an eye on us." He made his way of to the smaller blonde girl. This had been the first real time he could fully take in her appearance.
A rather small stature, maybe the top of her head reaching his shoulders - slightly taller than Yuuki then, he added to memory. Long layered tresses of blonde hair similar to Takuma's colour, and not bad to look at either. Of course, she wouldn't have the outstanding beauty of the creatures before her, but she had a pretty face. If only she would take off the shades. That was the one thing that confused Kaname the most, that she would wear blocker sunglasses both during the day and at night. Surely it was difficult to see at night with them on.
It was not in him to pry though. Surely he would find out in the end.
Koneko did not like the way he was looking at her, like he was eyeing every cell making up her body. She couldn't help but let her frown take over, her mood completely ruined by Kuran Kaname.
He gave a small and gentle smile to the young hunter. "I believe you are to be our escort this evening, Koneko-chan?" He had been standing beside her, and his hand reached to touch the small of her back, something he seemed to see as a means of reassurance and comfort. However, meaning of touch meant nothing to Koneko, and she hastily caught his hand before he managed to so much as come a centimetre away.
Everyone tensed at the spectacle, eyes gleaming with a hint of red. The tension lay thick in the air, and Koneko wouldn't be surprised everyone could see it beyond the gate. The blonde looked up to Kaname through those damn shades of hers, glaring softly. "To answer your question, yes. I am escorting you. However, that does not give you the right to touch me." She threw his hand away and fixed herself up. As much as she hated the fact that Pureblood touched her, at least he was gentle, and welcoming to her. More than likely, she thought, he just wanted to eat her and have her vanish from Earth.
With a deep exhale, she turned and made for the door. "Now, if you'd all like to follow me. Your adoring fans await." She grumbled, waving a hand behind her to make them follow. Kaname stood for a slight pause; wondering if things would really work out with her here.
'Just like Kiryuu...' He thought bitterly to himself, casually following with the others behind.
xx
"Wow, this is gonna be fun!" Hanabusa cooed dreamily as he gazed over row upon row of females with chocolates in hand, just waiting to be given to their chosen Night Class idol. For Koneko, however, she couldn't comprehend it.
Somehow, both Yuuki and Zero managed to get all the girls into the stalls like herding cattle into pens, and it all happened in the time Koneko had been inside the Moon Dorm. The kitten would have to ask to share their secret some time.
"Well Yuuki, I'm very impressed." She smirked at the brunette in the centre, whistle clasped between her teeth. Said brunette blushed at the compliment and bowed to the blonde.
"It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be actually." She replied, the hefty blush on her face only making her all the more adorable. Kaname stepped forward from behind Koneko and turned his head in Hanabusa's direction.
"Now you behave yourself, Aidou." He warned softly, his calm and gentle smile hiding the murderous intent should anything go wrong. A shudder crept down the aristocrat's spine, and he nodded his head vigorously. "Yes, Lord Kaname." He squeaked, making his way to his stall, eager for chocolates.
Others followed slowly, standing by their posts to be greeted with beautifully wrapped chocolates. "Please accept this" was heard from all stalls, and it soon began to grind on Koneko's nerves, and she eagerly looked round for a spot to sit and wait. Spotting Zero a few paces away from the commotion, she hurried her way over, ignoring the vampires and their fake appreciation of gifts.
At least things were running smoothly, and for that she was grateful. Though the Night class were vampires, she was impressed at how well-behaved they could be.
"So tell me..." She began with a sigh, leaning against a tree that just so happened to have Zero leaning against also. Her head turned to him, the blocker glasses hiding her curious gaze from him. "How ever did you manage to tame such unruly girls?"
"I tell you, it wasn't easy." The albino hunter lowered his head a little as he scratched his back on the tree. "But they tend to listen when you threaten to cancel big events like this." He let himself smirk, and in turn Koneko let out a loud laugh.
"Maybe you should try that more often. When's the next big event?" She asked, rather intrigued. She had heard that Cross Academy held a lot of parties and events for their students, and often wondered what it entailed.
"I don't really know. The only one I can think of is the Spring Dance. We have a dance every season for both classes." Though he never wanted it, there was a hint of irritation in his voice, to which Koneko caught immediately, sensing he wasn't a huge fan of such events.
"So that means Prefect job is even harder. But hey, you have an extra pair of eyes this year, so it just means less chance for trouble." She said the first thing that came to mind in order to cheer the hunter up, to which it did, to some extent. Zero never did seem the type, in her case mind, to smile often.
"You have a point..." He whispered softly, knowing she was only trying to reassure him. Hunters together, looking out for one another, that was all it was. At least, that was what he thought. Said thoughts were broken when Yuuki's whistle rang through the two pairs of ears.
"Idol! I mean...Aidou, accept their chocolates and nothing else!" Yuuki's voice followed the whistle, and was followed after that by a drained sigh from the naughty vampire.
"Come on. You need to get the Night class to the academy." Zero ushered, kicking himself off the tree. Koneko mirrored him perfectly, and dusted her skirt off a little before standing to attention at the end of the stalls. First to pass her was Senri Shiki and Touya Rima, two vampires whom she had no real trouble with, yet. She gave a nod to the two, who repayed the action similarly.
Second came Aidou Hanabusa, his arms full with chocolates. He even had a little difficulty keeping them in his hands, and attempted to put a few in his pockets to lighten the load. Judging from the look on his face, she could tell he was the littlest bit frustrated. Oh, this was the perfect time to mess with him.
"You finished already, Aidou-sempaiii~?" She asked him sweetly, the innocent act masking her fiendish nature. Aidou did nothing but glare at the blonde girl, subtly baring his fangs at her. Since her eyes remained covered, she hid the glare well. He passed her, grumbling profanities as she waved her arms in the air in order to gain some attention. "Okay, everyone! It's time for the Night class to be leaving soon. You don't want them to be late for class and end up failing their exams now, do you?" So she made that last part up. Did vampires even need to take exams? That was one question she would never need answering.
Just from that one comment, the Day class developed an uproar, as the pace of giving out chocolates doubled, maybe even tripled, and even some ended up disappointed that their beloved couldn't hold another box. More often than not it was Kaname that declined once his hands became full. But he was still chivalrous and polite even in his declines. Koneko could only huff at the act. For an unemotional Yoru, she sure showed a lot of discomfort and distaste when she believed no one to be looking.
It hadn't been more than five seconds before a mob of girls chanced a run to Kaname after he withdrew from his stall, and poor Yuuki was caught in the rabble, and ended up falling face first into the ground, her own little green box flying from her pocket.
Zero witnessed the ordeal and picked up the box, which had been wrapped by Koneko, pleaded by Yuuki. "Kaname." He called out, knowing full well who it was for, and threw it, hoping to high heavens that it would hit the Pureblood on the head and knock him out. Unfortunately, there was no higher being supporting Zero's wish, and Kaname turned just in time to catch the box in the palm of his hands. "It was on the ground."
And now this got Koneko confused. Kaname's hands were full only a few seconds ago, then one hand magically becomes empty for him to catch a new box? Purebloods were strange creatures.
"How clumsy of me." The Kuran mumbled, though a soft smile graced his face. "Thank you, Kiryuu-kun. Yuuki." He nodded and continued walking beside his bodyguard, Seirin. That was the time for Koneko to move, stopping beside Yuuki to help her up. "Are you alright, Cross-san?" She asked, becoming a little more formal with the girl now there was more of a crowd than last night.
"I'm fine, Koneko-chan." She replied, smiling reassuringly. Hell, even Zero looked slightly concerned for her. She always seemed to get into some kind of trouble. Yuuki suddenly did a personality 180 and began punching Zero like he was some form of punching bag. "Why did you go and do something like that!? This is so embarrassing!"
"You were making /me/ feel embarrassed. Why didn't you give it to him yourself?" Zero asked, allowing himself to be punched. It wasn't like Yuuki hurt him. She really was a weakling compared to him and Koneko. Him especially considering what he had become four years ago.
Yuuki paused her onslaught of abuse at her friend, and shied away from him, an innocent but teasing look on her face. "I just thought it would be awkward in giving him a gift..." She stated as a matter-of-fact, turning herself around and ushering the Day class to go back to their dorms, leaving both Zero and Koneko stunned.
"I don't think I'll ever understand her." The female whispered, her head tilting, but no trace of emotion evident on her face. So she was back to being a true Yoru when no one had their eyes on her. Zero did have his back to her after all. "So what now?"
Zero had still been watching Yuuki leave before he heard the question directed to him. Sighing softly, his hands found their way into his pockets, and he shrugged his shoulders. "I guess Yuuki and I will do patrols, and you keep an eye on the vampires..." He turned to her, looking her over. Koneko truly did look like a Yoru. Her father would have been Japanese, with an English mother, hence why she was so good with the language. The same bleach blonde hair that depicted a Yoru, and the same shades that her father would have worn. They did look quite old, after all.
"I guess it can't be helped. They'll be too busy with their chocolates to cause any trouble." She grumbled, folding her arms. A silent moment passed. "Oh, I almost forgot. I made this last night. One for you and Yuuki." She dug into her left pocket and held out a small, rather beautifully wrapped chocolate ball. Zero could see there was a lot of effort in that small midnight blue wrapping, topped off with a light blue ribbon. "Yuuki was trying to make chocolates last night, but you already knew that." She muttered so only he would hear, and it caused Zero's eyes to bulge slightly. So he was noticed...
"So yeah...we both made chocolate last night, and I wanted to give you one, since you were the first person I met here. So...happy Valentine's day?" She shrugged her shoulders, taking his hand out of his pocket and placing the chocolate in the palm of his hand. "Well, I better go. See you for morning crossover, Kiryuu-san." She called as she turned, using the prefix on his name for once.
Zero watched in astonishment as she walked off further down the path, then glanced down at the small chocolate in his hands. So both he and Yuuki got one from her, eh? He slipped it in his pocket and snuck away from sight. Maybe it would be best to open it at the stables. He hadn't seen White Lily today after all.
xx
Ichijou Takuma seemed to be having some trouble. He had been a bit too nice and accepted too many chocolates for himself to carry. Few had actually fallen from his hands, to which the blonde hunter followed like a bread crumb trail, picking them up as she went.
"Ichijou-san. You are dropping your chocolate if you hadn't noticed." She yelled, picking up her pace into a light jog in order to catch up to him. The blond haired, green-eyed vampire turned at the mention of his name, and a small embarrassed smile beamed over his face.
"Oh, thank you, Yoru-san." He said, highly appreciative of what she was doing in order to help. "Could you possible take some from me for one moment?" He asked, that pleading smile enough to break anyone into doing what he says. Not paying any attention, Koneko nodded, and became slightly regretful after being handed all of the boxes. She felt as though she was holding the world in her hands. How could one person get so many chocolates?
"You know, I never really thought you'd give me all the boxes..." She pouted, glaring at the vice-dorm president. She watched him as he dug around in his blazer pocket.
"I know, but I wanted to give you something..." He replied, that smile not leaving his face. Jeez, he was as bad as Yuuki for smiling so much. But the fact of 'something' piqued her interest, and she was both curious and wary of what it was. Out of Takuma's pocket came a pretty black box with a white ribbon wrapped around it. Koneko glanced at the box, then at Takuma sceptically, then back to the box. "I'm sorry that I bought this chocolate, but I didn't have time to make one, nor did I know how. Think of it as a welcome gift from all of us at the Moon Dorm." He scratched the back of his head, a small blush invading his cheeks.
That alone seemed to soften Koneko's features, and Takuma breathed a sigh of relief. "You're too human..." The kitten stated simply, no need to beat around the bush about that kind of statement. At first, Takuma was shocked to hear it, but upon looking at Koneko's small smirk, he couldn't help but smile, taking back a few of his own boxes so they were halved between the two of them.
"I think I won't mind sharing a dorm with you around."
D'aww a little canon/OC moments in there, especially Zero and Takuma.
I really want to make this a Kaname/OC story, but I still want to keep this open until I decide my ending for this (Yes I am actually forcing myself to complete a chapter story).
Hope you all look forward to the next chapter!
